A single thought floated in my head as I felt the coldness of the function hall as soon as we stepped in.

"God must be playing favorites," I whispered to myself, "I only want to annoy Alas. That's the reason why I chose to wear this dress. My harmless antic failed, and now it feels like I'm being punished by the heavenly father," I added.

"You were saying?" Alas purposely teased.

"You should have told me that tonight's auction has a theme, and it's a freaking winter wonderland."

"I sent a gown for you to wear. One that is suitable for the cold temperature of the function hall, but you chose not to wear it." My feet froze on the spot, but my upper body was bending away from him. Alas shrouded his arm on my waist.

"It's fun seeing you deal with the repercussions of your actions, wife. I hope that this will teach you some lessons and you'll follow me next time." Alas playfully ran his finger on my hair.
