CHAPTER TWO | DO OR DIE AFFAIR

ISABELLA

“The boss has requested for you." A man I don't recognize says as he drags me out of the cage with the chain…again.

If I survive this madness, I would never ever chain a dog for the rest of my life.

“I am not a slave." I whisper so that he wouldn't hear me.

Surprisingly he does. Unlike the first three that kidnapped me, he doesn't give me a death stare or ignore me.

He looks at me with sympathy clear in his eyes, shakes his head sadly and sighs. “I am so sorry about that. That is no way to treat a lady. I wish I could do something but I can't. The boss wants you treated this way."

I nod my head but say nothing.

I look around as we walk through corridors and long beautiful halls. Wherever I am must be a castle made for kings. Everything looks expensively beautiful and gigantic.

I try to take in as much as I can for when I try escaping but I knew I wouldn't make it to the door before I am caught because of the numbers of guards hanging around the house.

At one point, I started to count the guards to see how many men I would take down to gain my freedom. After the fifteenth number, I stopped knowing that it was of no use.

The man stops in front of a room with two big golden doors and knocks on it. A woman comes out and drags me in with her.

The woman is old, probably in her early fifties. Even with her age, I could immediately tell that she is being taken care of.

She is dressed in a long red flowing gown. Although plain, the dress has the ability to command the attention of anyone wherever she goes.

With the belief that old people are wise and kind, I decide to beg her to help me escape. “Ma'am I was kidnapped. I need to get out of here and find my mother and husband. Please, help me."

The woman only chuckles. She doesn't even stop for a moment to show pity or register my words.

I knew she wouldn't help me and I wanted to help myself.

I had every plan of knocking her out but stopped the moment the door was opened again.

A young woman came in first with a gown…a wedding gown. Another came in with a makeup box then the last with shoes.

A guard I saw earlier comes in too and he is holding a gun.

My body tenses up, my eyes widens and I back away from them.

The fear of them killing me is so much that when the woman asks me to “Strip," I don't hesitate.

I took my clothes off, the fear of dying erasing any embarrassment I'd have felt to be naked in front of strangers.

Luckily, the guard turned his back on me when I stripped.

“Get to work, ladies." She orders.

The lady with the makeup box does my makeup at the command of the woman.

I'm asked to put the wedding dress on and the shoes and jewellery too. I do everything I'm told without questioning her, too scared to object and get shot.

I could tell everything I am wearing would probably cost more than all my college expenses.

Once they're done, the woman takes me to a full length mirror with a wide smile on her face.

“Ain't you a pretty bride? You look so beautiful. So, do you like it?" She directs her last question to me.

As much as I hate to admit it, I look absolutely gorgeous. I could barely even recognize myself.

Anyone could tell that the gown was designed by a renowned couturier. The gown is a masterpiece of lace, silk, and beading. The fitted mermaid-style gown flows to the floor. The bodice is adorned with a sweetheart neckline with soft cap sleeves and a corseted waist.

“It's beautiful… but why?" I whisper, still awestruck by the gorgeous dress.

“Come on, he is waiting for you."

I wanted to ask who was waiting for me but I didn't. I doubt anyone would answer me.

The chain that was removed earlier was brought again. It would have been placed back on my neck if not for the woman that stopped the guard from doing so.

I send a grateful smile her way and to my surprise, she returns it.

She takes my hand and leads me to a decorated ballroom in the house.

Still confused, I look around only to see people sitting and staring at me which only adds to my confusion.

Looking forward, I see a man dressed in a lavish suit and a scared looking priest holding a Bible in his shaking hands.

My eyes widen as the realization of what is happening strikes me. I try running away but the grip of the old woman is as strong as a robot holding on to one's hands.

She already anticipated my next move and doesn't hesitate to roughly and painfully pull my hair back when I attempt to bite her hand so that she'll let me go.

With the strength that a woman of her age shouldn't have, she drags me to the altar where a good-looking man dressed in a black suit and holding a ring is waiting for me.

“Do you, Damien Alejandro, take Isabella Rossi to be your wife, to love and cherish her, through all of life's joys and challenges?" The priest asked me after I'm forced on the altar.

“I do."

I again struggled to get out of his mother's grip but one guard joined her and together, they made sure I stayed still.

“Do you, Isabella Rossi, take…"

“No, Hell No!" I cut the priest off. “I don't know him. I've never met him in my life. I was kidnapped from my wedding after they shot my fiance, forced to wherever heaven knows and now, I'm being forced to marry a man I am almost positive is the mastermind behind my misery. I would rather marry the devil than get married to him." I say in one breath, pointing at the handsome man staring at me with a blank expression on his face.

I was expecting the guests to help me after telling them everything that went down but they didn't. They don't even react.

This infuriates me so much that I scream out, still trying to set myself free.

One minute, I was angry and the next, my heart was racing with a gun pointed to my temple.

“Repeat that, Bella. Say no again and I promise you that that'll be the last thing you ever say on earth." Damien Alejandro says, pointing a gun to my head.

His icy cold voice sent shivers down my spine and somehow, his voice scared me more than the gun on my head.

“I…I…I do." I stammered, the words tasting like bile on my lips.

“You can now kiss the bride." The priest announced.
