Unfairness

The Mafia Don faced his son, his hands in his pockets as he rocked on his heels. The youth looked flustered as he began to speak but Lucien cut him short rudely.

‘Boy, you have no right to beat up a man who is under my protection. Ramona here called me a little earlier to say that you had attacked her brother for no reason.’

And as Claude opened his mouth to speak again, Lucien snarled,

‘They are my guests. Apologize to him.’

Ramona flashed a sly, triumphant look in the direction of the pale-faced younger man who was controlling himself with difficulty. Claude wanted to tell his father about what had transpired but he could not get a word in. For some reason, his father seemed to be protecting the woman who stood, her small eyes crinkled in what was supposed to be a look of pain and misery.

‘Sir,’ he tried but Ramona stepped to the Mafia Don with a sigh.

‘OUT!” the Don barked at his son who stiffened and left the room.
