Elaine's Point of View
I couldn’t stop smiling when Louis suddenly hugged me. “Did you love it, wife?” he asked, and I immediately nodded. What woman wouldn’t be happy to be surprised like this?
When Louis released me from the hug, I was suddenly embraced by Aunt Hacel. “Congratulations to both of you. I can’t wait to see you wearing your wedding gown,” she said. I smiled at her words, and I, too, was excited to see myself in a gown. I never expected to experience something like this until Louis came into my life and made me feel special, just like other women.
I actually thought that Kaizer would be the one to make me feel this way. I had a crush on him when I entered college. He always made me feel beautiful, but the world is really small because I ended up falling for his cousin, and I’m about to marry him.
“Thank you so much, Aunt Hacel. I’m excited, too,” I said. I was surprised when she widened her smile and suddenly took my hand to jump with me. I didn’t know what expression to show, but luckily, uncle Izaak came over to us.
“That’s enough, honey. We should go to the venue now. Looks like all the guests are already there,” Uncle Izaak said, which almost made my jaw drop because I was only wearing a jumper. Louis hadn’t mentioned anything about this happening. If he had, I would have known he was planning something.
“Yeah, I nearly forgot, where’s Blaire? Don’t worry, Elaine. I brought you a dress you can wear,” Aunt Hacel said, which I immediately appreciated.
My father walked over to me and kissed my forehead. “Congratulations, my daughter. I’m sorry if I didn’t tell you about Louis’ plan, okay? I just wanted to see you happy, especially since you love surprises,” my father said, kissing my forehead. I smiled.
I hugged him tightly. “Thank you so much, Dad,” I said. He just patted me gently and talked to Uncle Izaak.
“Let’s go, Elaine,” Aunt Hacel said with a smile, and we walked toward a room. I was surprised when I saw Tyron looking at us, and he seemed sad.
What happened to him?
When I looked ahead, I noticed one of the housemaids from Louis’ mansion also looking in his direction. Hmm, it seems like something is going on between them.
“You know, I was talking with Izaak about having another child after Louis so that our future children would have a playmate. Wouldn’t that be great?” Aunt Hacel asked happily, wrapping both of her arms around mine. She didn’t seem to be joking, but just thinking about what happened between Louis and me in the hospital made me feel like I didn’t want to have a child yet. If intimacy was already painful, how much more would childbirth be?
“Why do you look pale? Did I say something wrong, daughter?” she asked. I just smiled at her to prevent her from worrying.
“No, Aunt Hacel. I just thought of something,” I explained, trying to erase the thoughts of what Louis and I had done from my mind.
“Sigh, how many times do I have to tell you to call me Mommy Hacel? You know you’re like a daughter to Izaak and me,” she said. I was about to speak when we suddenly stopped in front of a white door with various designs.
“We’re here already. Come on in, daughter,” Mommy Hacel said. I still wasn’t used to calling her that, but it seemed like she would be upset if I didn’t follow her request.
A woman with us slowly turned the knob, and as the door opened, a violet-colored room appeared before us. The first thing that caught my attention was the lilac flowers in a vase.
“This room is so beautiful,” I said while smelling the lilac flowers. Mommy Hacel approached me, and I immediately stood up straighter.
“That’s alright. We both love flowers, and I’m happy about that. By the way, this room is mine. We bought it for when we want to vacation at the beach, and we didn’t want it too far from home,” she explained, which made me smile. At first, I thought she was strict, but now I can say she’s a good mother, and not only that, she treats me well.
I can say I’m lucky because Louis’ parents are kind. I always read in romance novels that women dislike their daughters-in-law because they think the sons' wives take away the attention that should be theirs, like our neighbor. We often hear them fighting because the sister-in-law complains that the wife of her son doesn’t get along with her.
“The room design is beautiful. Who designed it?” I asked. The arrangement of the furniture and the perfect lines in the room were truly amazing. There wasn’t a single crooked angle. A lot of money and attention were put into making it this beautiful.
“Oh, Elaine, we don’t need to look far because Izaak’s nephew is an engineer. He’s really talented. He’s probably at the party. I’ll introduce you to him later,” she answered with a smile. Our conversation was interrupted when someone knocked on the door.
“Are you done changing?” Louis asked, which made Mommy Hacel and I exchange a glance because we hadn’t changed yet.
“Just wait, we’re almost done,” Mommy Hacel lied. She immediately signaled to the two women with us, who took out two dresses from a paper bag.
When they revealed the dresses, one was a yellow sheath dress with a corset-like design in the middle, and the other was a fitted red mermaid dress with a tulle skirt and bead designs. It was obvious that when worn, the woman’s figure would be accentuated, but I had never worn a dress like this before since I usually buy maxi and pouf dresses.
“Hmm, don’t you like it, Elaine?” Mommy Hacel asked. I immediately looked at her, thinking if a dress like this would suit me.
“I like it. I’m just wondering if I can pull off such a beautiful dress,” I said, slightly scratching my head in embarrassment.
She simply placed her hands on my shoulders and spoke. “You’re beautiful, Elaine. I’m sure this dress will look perfect on you, so don’t worry. Let’s go ahead and try it on,” she said excitedly. I couldn’t hide my smile because Mommy Hacel was so sweet. I missed my mom, but it was a shame I didn’t get to spend much time with her.
I’m sure my mom would be happy to see her daughter about to get married.
“Thank you so much, M-Mommy Hacel,” I stuttered, still not used to calling her that.
“Blaire and Rosetta, help us change. I’m sure Izaak is getting impatient waiting for us,” Mommy Hacel ordered, to which the two women nodded.
After a few minutes, we were done. Rosetta styled my hair in a side bun, which I didn’t realize would actually look good on me. I always used to wear a ponytail since I didn’t go anywhere special except to campus.
“You look great with that hairstyle,” Blaire said. When she realized what she said, she immediately apologized. I just patted her shoulder and agreed with her.
“You did a great job with the makeup,” I complimented her. She smiled at me and thanked me.
“Elaine, are you ready? Let’s go. I think they’re already bored waiting for us,” Mommy Hacel said. The two of us stood up and went outside.
When we arrived where Louis was, everyone’s attention immediately shifted to us. “Well, how do we look?” Mommy Hacel asked while hugging Uncle Izaak, who was with my dad.
I stayed where I was standing when Louis suddenly approached me and kissed me on the forehead. “You’re freaking gorgeous,” he whispered, which made my cheeks blush.
“Okay, but aren’t you going to greet me? You’re making me feel left out,” Mommy Hacel said, placing a hand on her chest as if she were hurt. I couldn’t help but laugh quietly.
“Dad is there to compliment you,” Louis complained, which made Mommy Hacel roll her eyes. Kaizer walked up to me, and he was about to hug me when Louis stopped him.
“Hands off, dude. Find yourself a woman to hug,” Louis said, which made Kaizer frown.
“Who said Elaine is yours? I was the first one she have a crush on before you!” Kaizer shouted, which made me widen my eyes. How did he know that?
“I don’t care, so move,” Louis yelled, causing Kaizer to laugh. I furrowed my brow at his behavior. Why did Louis’ mood suddenly change?
“Wait, hold on,” I said, struggling to keep up with his pace. It’s hard to run in these heels that Mommy Hacel had made me wear.
“Is that true?” Louis suddenly stopped and turned to face me. We were now outside, and I could clearly see the beach from here.
“What do you mean?” I asked since he suddenly brought this up.
“Is it true that you have a crush on Kaizer?” he repeated. This time, he faced me and lifted my chin so that we were eye to eye.
“Yes, but that was before. It’s you I like now!” I said. It was obvious that he felt a little sad from what I said, and he was about to turn away when I suddenly hugged him.
“Don’t you trust what I said?” I asked. I looked up to meet his eyes, but he was avoiding my gaze.
“I trust you. It’s just that I’m—”
I stood on my tiptoes and kissed him. Thankfully, these heels had made me a little taller, although they were quite painful to wear.
“What the heck, live p*rn,” Tyron complained. I immediately pulled away from Louis when Tyron pulled me by the waist.
“Don’t mind that idiot,” Louis said and then kissed me again. I heard a camera click from behind, which made my eyes widen.
Don’t tell me Tyron took a picture of us.
Elaine's Point of ViewWhen I pulled away from our kiss, I quickly looked around to find the source of the camera click. My jaw almost dropped when I saw the large cameras aimed at us, with a person holding a microphone.“We are here at Desire Island, and as you can all see, the heir of Montemayor Company, Louis Montemayor, is having an intense kiss with a woman. Just yesterday, rumors were circulating that he had surprised actress Mariella Althea De Vera, but what is this we’re seeing now?” asked the man holding the mic, moving in front of us.“Just go with the flow, they are reporters,” Louis whispered to me, and I just nodded. Could it be true that he ordered a surprise for Mariella, or did Juliana make a mistake? What still puzzles me is why Mariella came to my room to talk to Louis. What could they have discussed?“Can we interview you, Mr. Montemayor?” the reporter asked, and Louis nodded. He immediately pulled me in close and put his arm around me, causing the reporters around u
Elaine’s Point of ViewWhen I turned to see where the voice was coming from, I saw Kaizer standing with his arms crossed in front of us, his eyes blazing with anger. I immediately pushed Tyron to stand up and explain to him.“You’re thinking wrong, Kai,” I said. Tyron was about to explain when Kaizer suddenly punched him hard, knocking him to the floor. What is he doing?“What’s wrong with what I saw, Elaine? This idiot is hugging you. You’ve got some nerve, Tyron, even planning to hit on Elaine. Are there no more flings for you on Desire Island?” Kaizer yelled. I immediately covered my forehead in frustration as I helped Tyron get up since Kaizer’s punch had been so strong. Why are the Montemayor men always so hot-headed?“Shut up, Kai. Please, can you just let me explain!” I said, which immediately stopped him. I apologized to Tyron before turning to talk to Kaizer.“Tell me, Elaine. What did this idiot do to you?” Kaizer asked, furrowing his brows. He even checked my arms to see if
Third Person’s Point of ViewLouis woke up early. He wanted to cook breakfast for the young woman because he knew she must have been exhausted from what they had done the previous night, and he wanted to spend some time with her before heading to Sirius’s mansion. On the other hand, Elaine slowly got out of bed. Her lower body was swollen. Thankfully, Louis wasn’t beside her anymore. She was sure she would feel embarrassed if he saw her, especially the way she looked when she tried to walk.Elaine went to the bathroom, which was inside the room with Louis. She started to shower so that she would look fresh in front of him. When she was finished, she went downstairs to the kitchen to cook something for herself when she saw Louis wearing an apron and making pancakes. She immediately hugged him from behind, which made him turn to face her. “Are your legs fine now?” Louis asked. Elaine scratched her head, as this was the first thing he asked her. She was still a bit embarrassed to admit th
Elaine’s Point of View“Are you okay, dear? How are you holding up?” Mommy Hacel asked. She had already gotten out of the car because I was still feeling nauseous from the dizziness. I couldn’t handle her fast driving. I almost lost my breath from the anxiety. We were in front of a large mansion. She said we were going to pick up Sandra and Lexy first, so we came to Reverence Street, where they lived.“I-I’m fine,” I stammered before unbuckling my seatbelt so I could get out of the car.“Oh, dear. Those two will be so happy to see you. They couldn’t come to the party because they were busy with work,” Mommy Hacel said as I got out of the car. Next time, I’ll make sure to stop her from holding the car keys. She really is scary to drive with.“Is that so? What do they do for work?” I asked with a smile, curious about the people close to Louis. I also wanted to get to know them so I could become close to them.“Sandra is a flight attendant. She doesn’t come home often. Lexy, on the other
Elaine’s Point of ViewTears were still relentlessly falling from my eyes. I tried to stand up to turn off the shower because I felt like a wet chicken. The water had soaked my clothes completely since earlier.Honestly, what Louis said was the most painful thing I have ever heard in my entire life. I had gotten used to being called ugly in my old school because I had so many pimples and because of the nerdy clothes I wore.I started changing clothes. If I kept sulking, my father would definitely wonder why I was taking so long to come down, and they might even notice my puffy eyes from crying. Maybe I was the only one who had feelings for Louis. If I had known that he only did all those surprises for his inheritance, I should have stopped myself from falling for him. What woman wouldn't fall for someone who made that much effort? My thoughts were interrupted when someone suddenly knocked on the door. “Elaine, dear,” Mommy Hacel called out. I quickly rushed to get dressed and tried to
Elaine’s Point of ViewAfter the call ended, I quickly went to the closet room because I remembered what Mommy Hacel had said about the clothes she was sure I would need.I opened the door, and I was greeted by cabinets connected around the entire room. Right next to this room was the one Louis and I used to share, but now it was only his.I didn’t know what to choose first, but I opened the closet closest to me.I started looking for something to wear. I didn’t want to embarrass myself at the party, especially since Louis would be there and possibly have another woman as his partner. It would also be awkward for Kaizer if I didn’t at least make an effort to look good.I was glad Mommy Hacel thought to put together a closet room with various types of clothes. She said it was for occasions like this so I wouldn’t have to buy clothes every time there’s an event. She also mentioned that the Montemayor family values their reputation, so they always wear designer brands. They wanted to be t
Elaine’s Point of ViewI don't know, but suddenly, silence filled the car. I was about to ask Kaizer what the problem was, but I was interrupted when the driver spoke, "We're almost there."I felt a mix of emotions because, in just a few minutes, I would see Louis. What would his reaction be when he sees Kaizer and me as partners at the party? Would he feel even a little bit jealous? But with how things were now, it seemed unlikely."K-Kai, are you okay? You've been quiet for a while," I stammered. Finally, I found a chance to speak. He had been facing away from me, and I was worried that I might have said something that upset him."Yeah, I'm fine. Don’t mind me," he replied coldly, which shocked me. I had been gathering the courage to speak, and that was all I got in return. In frustration, I immediately turned away from him. "Okay," I said, annoyed. He probably thought that only he could be difficult. If he could act like that, well, I could too."Ely?" he murmured. I felt his gaze
Elaine’s Point of ViewI don’t know, but I tried to stand up and go inside because I’m sure Kaizer had been waiting for me. My feet hurt so much that I ended up sitting in front of the plants and crying my eyes out. What did I do wrong for Louis to treat me this way? What I can’t fully accept is how he said such hurtful words to me, as if we never shared anything between us. But why is that? I can't even feel angry at him.I was startled when I heard a familiar voice from behind, clearly furious at the person on the phone, as their voice was shaking with anger.“As I told you, Dad. I don’t want to marry Lea, she’s definitely not my type,” Tyron said. Until now, he still hadn’t noticed that we were just turned away from each other, and there was a small square space in between with plants.“You’ll learn to love her soon,” came the reply from the phone.Tyron was starting to get frustrated, and I could see him clenching his fist.“I have someone I like. Can you at least understand that?
ElaineThe days passed quickly, and we learned the news that Zap had escaped, so our security doubled as we searched for leads on who helped Zap escape and where my real father was.I let out a deep sigh before leaning my head against the chair. I thought the evil of the Valencias was over, but we were back to square one."Everything will be fine, wife. As long as we are together, we can do anything. I’ll dispatch more people to look for leads," Louis said. He held my hand. I smiled."Thank you, hubby, for always being by my side. Even when I’m still looking for a part of my past identity, you're patient," I said and kissed him on the cheek. That evening, while I was working on paperwork that the wedding organizer gave me, Mace suddenly started crying.I quickly stood up and went to the nursery room, "Wah, Mama." I picked her up and saw Louis enter, holding Caliber in his arms.He asked, "What happened?""Hubby, can you grab the diapers? I think she’s crying because it's already full.
LouisI’ve always thought of myself as the man who knew everything. Someone who was calculated, cold, and efficient—that’s who I am. Or rather, who I was before Elaine. She wasn’t just a woman I was ordered to marry; she was the reason I started questioning everything about my carefully constructed world. It all started when I saw her for the first time walking with her friends down the street. I was in the backseat of my car, flipping through meaningless reports about the family’s business, when I caught sight of her. She wasn’t extraordinary by any conventional standard. She had oversized glasses perched on her nose, braces, and hair that seemed to have a life of its own. Yet, there was something about her laugh. It was carefree. It was pure.“Who’s that woman?” I blurted out, startling Brennon. His eyes flicked to the rearview mirror, confused. “I—I don’t know, sir. Should I find out?”I stayed quiet. My heart clenched for reasons I didn’t understand. Why did I care? She wasn’t the
ElaineThe breeze was cold on the day I went to the cemetery. The sun was high, but it didn’t hurt my skin because it was already late afternoon. It was quiet, but I still felt the heaviness in my heart as I walked the path to my father’s grave. Everything that happened was still fresh in my mind, and in the blink of an eye, all the evil deeds of the Valencias were over. But I knew that this wasn’t the end because there were still organizations that wanted to get their hands on the ledger, which I still couldn’t remember. In the end, Zap was imprisoned with multiple charges while Mariella was taken by Lucas to a psychiatrist because she was almost driven insane by everything that happened.I read the inscription on the tombstone that said Raymond Natividad. I placed the bouquet of white roses down and lit a candle. He was such a good father to me, doing everything to protect me.“In a few months, I’ll be giving birth. I’ll make sure to bring them here so you can see them,” I said as m
ElaineWhen I opened my eyes, I felt the pain from the restraints tied to my hands. They were tight and cold, as if purposely tightened to cause severe pain. I trembled as I looked around. It seemed like we were in a storage room, and aside from me, there were two others—Kaizer and Father, both tied to chairs."Ely..." Kai’s voice was weak but filled with concern. "Are you okay?"I nodded, even though my heart contradicted the words. It was racing in fear and anxiety over what might happen to us."Do you know where we are?" I asked, my voice cracking. He shook his head. "All I know is that we've been kidnapped by the Valencia Organization. I don’t know how they found us, but I’ll make sure we escape."I was scared for the baby in my womb. It had nothing to do with this."Everything will be fine, Ely, trust me," Kaizer said. It seemed like he had a plan."Ugh," Father groaned as he slowly opened his eyes. When he saw Kaizer and me, his brows furrowed immediately. "What are you two doin
ElaineLouis and I stayed in Florida for two more weeks. When Louis saw me that night, he was always comforting me. We rarely went out again, and when we did, we always had a bodyguard with us. He didn’t ask me what happened, it seemed like he was waiting for me to tell him on my own.Today, Valerian will pick us up to take us back to the Philippines.“I want to stay here for a while,” I said while organizing the clothes and souvenirs we bought.“We will come back here again. This is one of our houses now, I just need to finish all my work,” Louis answered and pecked a kiss on my cheek. When we got in the car, Valerian smiled at me. “Looks like the newlyweds enjoyed their honeymoon that much. Aunt Hacel said to get both of you after three days, but someone wants to stay longer.”“Shut up, dickhead,” Louis said, and I laughed. So, he was the one who planned for us to stay here for a month.“You really hurt my feelings with that greeting, man. A gift for your godchild?” Valerian asked.
ElaineIt had been a week, and Louis and I had fallen into a routine. We were like a real married couple. Every morning, he cooked for me, and we spent our days exploring different places. Almost every night, something would happen between us. Honestly, it all felt like a dream, and I never wanted to wake up.“Wife, are you still mad at me? I didn’t mean to be rough last night,” Louis asked while trying to feed me some rice.“No. I’m not mad,” I answered briefly.“Then why are you so quiet, hmm?” he asked again. The truth was, I wished we could just stay here because I was afraid that once we went back home, things between us would change again.“I’m just thinking,” I said. His face turned serious. “What is it? You can tell me.”I forced a small smile. It was better to keep what I saw to myself for now. He might think I was involved with Zap.“I’m just thinking about where we should go today. There are so many beautiful places here. I’ll take a quick shower so we can leave,” I said, k
ElaineI woke up because the sunlight was hitting my face; it seemed like Louis was still not back. I slowly got up because my head still hurt a little, and my eyes were swollen. My fingers still had cuts from picking up the broken picture frame.I went to the kitchen and took the photo. I stared at it once more before crumpling it and putting it inside my pocket. Louis must not see this—I’m sure that only Father can answer all the questions I have about the true identity of this man.I opened the fridge, but it contained nothing except water. I sighed and took a shower so I could go out. I needed to find a grocery store.“Wife, where are you going?”My heart nearly jumped out of my chest when I saw Louis. His hair was messy, and he had deep eye bags. His clothes had traces of blood, and there was a scratch on his forehead.“Are you okay?” I asked, touching the wound on his forehead.I quickly realized what I was doing. Why should I care? I shouldn’t, but my heart couldn’t help but wo
ElaineI was startled awake when I suddenly heard a loud ringtone coming from Louis' cellphone."Answer your call," I ordered. I saw Louis decline the call and return his gaze to me."I'm sorry for waking you up," Louis said.I rubbed my eyes to see his face more clearly since the room was dim."It's okay, I was just startled. But why are you still awake?" I asked him as I was about to get up to get a drink from the kitchen.Ouch.I immediately shut my eyes tightly when I felt a sharp pain in my lower body. The same thing happened to me after our first time. It felt like my body was being split in two.Noticing that I seemed to be in pain, Louis helped me up. "Are you okay, wife? Should I call a doctor?" he asked with concern, making me stare at him.Was he really concerned about me?I smiled in amusement, but Ashton’s words suddenly echoed in my mind.Louis was just using me. That’s all. I shouldn’t fall for his actions anymore."I'm fine, it's just that my lower part is sore. Someon
ElaineAs soon as I returned inside the venue, Venice immediately approached me.“Good thing you’re finally here, bestie. Everyone is waiting for you on the balcony so that you and Louis can receive Aunt Hacel’s gift,” she said. I couldn’t help but swallow due to nervousness. What is the Montemayor family up to this time?I quickly forced a smile when I saw Venice still looking at me. She had no idea about what was going on between Louis and me. I couldn’t blame her because I was sure Volstrige would keep it a secret from her.“Sorry, I was late again. I just went to the restroom for a bit,” I explained and was about to step forward when Venice suddenly grabbed my arm, stopping me.“Wait a moment, bestie. I was really waiting for you here because I have something to give you. Also, are you spaced out? That’s not the way to the balcony. Is that the effect of alcohol?” She burst into laughter. When I realized she was right, I couldn’t help but close my eyes in embarrassment.“I wasn’t g
