Alison's emotions were all over the place. She was feeling so many things at the same time. She was sad and angry and felt so many things she didn't understand.

Her face was dried with tears, she had been crying. She knew she should have told her. She was hurt, and Nicholas's leaving added to it. She knew he just needed time to cool off but it pained her.

The warm once vibrant room was now cold.

The night passed with a heavy stillness.

Alison couldn't sleep. She stayed seated on the couch waiting for him. The couch reminded her of him. She didn't know when she fell asleep but she woke up and it was already morning.

Nicholas still wasn't back. Alison was beginning to get worried. What if something bad happened to him? There's no way she could stay here and continue to wait for him to show up. She needed to do something. "I can't just sit here" she whispered to herself.

Grabbing a coat, she slipped on her shoes. She'll be quick. She just needed to check if Nicholas was nearby. The plac

  • The Mafia Assassin    Chapter One

Allison's life changed with just a brush stroke. She sat in her chair surrounded by a familiar chaos of unfinished canvases and splattered paint tubes in her small studio apartment. Her new project, Sunset View, half-finished, lay on the easel. She dipped her brush into a touch of pink and orange letting the colors bleed into each other. She smiled at her nearly finished creation. Painting was her only way of escaping reality. It was like freeing herself from the hard reality of life. But even it couldn't shield her from what happened next.A loud noise from outside distracted her. She ignored it and continued painting but the noise persisted. Curiosity filled her and she found herself walking to her open window.Below her apartment lay a dark alley, a kind of place people normally avoided in the nighttime. She saw a trashcan roll from the side. She traced her eyes in that direction, and she saw two men heavily tattooed, their hands holding the arms of a man kneeling before them with

Nicholas stared at the unconscious girl sleeping in the passenger seat. He injected her with something to make her unconscious. He hated loose ends which was why he had no idea why he was planning on doing what he was about to do.Even while asleep, she braced herself in such a way that she was ready to fight even though it was pretty obvious she wasn't going to win.Nicholas felt his phone buzz in his trousers. He grabbed his phone from his pockets. It was a text from Adrian Castellano.“What's the update-is it done“Still confirming loose ends” He typed before putting down his phone. He knew he was probably making a mistake. It was foolish to lie or betray the Castellanos, especially Adrian. A part of him was telling him to hand her over to Adrian and not make things complicated but it couldn't help feeling it was a big mistake. He knew Adrian would hurt her, not that he cared; she is practically a stranger to him, and he's been killing the Castellanos for years. But he couldn't sh

  • The Mafia Assassin    Chapter Three

Alison stood still, her breath halting in her throat. The faint noise of footsteps near the cabin sent a chilling shiver down her spine. She clutched the sides of the sofa, her mind racing. Nicholas had vanished into the hallway, leaving her to confront whatever—or whoever—was awaiting her. The shadow moved once again, gliding past the window. Alison felt her heart beating faster as the soft sound of crunching leaves grew louder. She gulped nervously, her instincts screaming at her to remain quiet. However, the footsteps came to a halt. The abrupt quiet was more frightening than the sound. She focused her hearing, paying close attention, but the only sound she detected was her own shallow breath. The seconds dragged on like hours. There was a gentle tap at the door. Her body tensed, and she fixed her gaze on the door, yearning for it to remain closed. Whoever was outside hadn’t arrived for a pleasant visit. “Open up,” a deep voice called from the other side. It wasn't Nicholas.

Alison’s hands trembled as she pointed to the photograph. “Nicholas... there’s something I have to tell you.”Nicholas’s eyes met hers unsure of what it was. He faced her, turning his attention to her. “What is it?” he asked.Alison's heart pounded against her chest. Every part of her was screaming at her to be quiet, to not destroy the peace they had between them but she knew he had to know. He needed to."Adrian, the man in the picture came to the house while you were away"His body visibly tensed. The warmth in his face was gradually replaced by something cold immediately. " What did you just say?" his voice was calm, way too calm; it was terrifying.Alison swallowed hard, her mouth suddenly dry. She could sense the cold; she didn't like it, it reminded her of the Nicholas she first knew."It was raining Nic, he knocked on the door, he claimed he was a passerby, the rain was heavy and I let him in, I thought he was a normal person, he seemed like one till he called my name""He ca

Alison woke up, and Nicholas wasn't in bed. Her mind drifted from last night. She started to blush. " Now, what are you thinking about?" Nicholas's voice clouded her thoughts. He was sitting on the couch completely dressed. He must have woken up really hard. She thought. "You," she said without thinking. "Don't tempt me, love," he smirked, reminding her she was still naked under the sheets. "Here" Nicholas held a small bag after she freshened up. She opened it, filled with curiosity, and she saw her phone in it. "Thank you, Nicholas." She was lost in what to say. The past events made her so forgetful about her life. Her parents and friends must be worried. She hasn't seen them for months. She knew it would be risky to go see them. "Thank you so much" she pecked his cheek before switching on the phone. The screen light shined and a familiar wallpaper came to life. As her phone was on, it soon started overflowing with messages, missed calls, and a bunch of emails. There were a lot o

The past couple of days, things have been going smoothly for Nicholas and Alison. They have grown closer staying in the underground. Nicholas still hasn't heard anything from Tristan. He knew something was wrong.Things were great with Alison; she has gotten bolder with him, teased him, and talked to Endless. He enjoys hearing her talk. She made me feel human again. Like he wasn't a monster. He was somehow reminded of the first time they met. How she challenged him despite her fear. He found it so funny."You know you can sleep on the bed; it's big enough for two," Alison's voice cut in through his thinking."You sure""Yes, you look so funny on that small couch" she let out a chuckle.Nicholas didn't know whether he would be able to control himself, being stuck with her in just this room was enough torture for him already. He wanted to decline but the look on her face left no room for arguments. He marched towards the bed where she was waiting. She patted the space beside her. She w
