Chapter 9: First Night with My Alpha

Before I knew it another week went by and I was feeling better than ever. I attended every doctor’s appointment and made sure to do some light exercises to increase my endurance and strength.

"So, are all my tests still coming back normal?" I asked Jessica in her office.

"Yup!" she said, beaming with excitement. "All of your hard work is paying off."

"I feel stronger already," I said, showing Jessica my little muscles.

"Great!" she exclaimed. "Even though you're not one hundred percent, I think you're fit enough to carry Arthur's pup."

I swallowed hard. It was getting closer now that I was feeling better. I didn't want Jessica to see my apprehension, so I thanked her and left.

After I was in my room, I figured I had earned some relaxation. The bookshelf was full and I hadn't had much time to read from it. I slid my fingers along the bindings, finding an interesting title, and slipped it out of the bookcase.

Before I knew it, I was engrossed in the story. I was just getting to a good part when I heard a knock at the door. Feeling slightly disoriented, I picked my head up. Just how long had I been reading? Then I heard the knock again.

"Yes?" I called.

"It's one of the Morgan maids. I have something for you."

Still holding the book, I rose from the chair and opened the door. There stood a polite woman, carrying something. My eyes were drawn to the nightgown she had in her hand.

Without asking, she walked past me, into my room. It seemed like she was on a mission. I glanced at her in question, tilting my head to the left.

"What's going on?" I asked.

"You'll want to get ready now."

"'Ready?" I asked, squinting at her in question.

"Yes, you should be bathed. Then your hair and make-up will be done. After that, you can get dressed in the appropriate attire."

"Are you saying that tonight is... the night?" I asked.

"Yes, that is exactly what I'm saying. My coworker will be here shortly to help," the maid said with a comforting smile.

My stomach was in knots. It was really happening!

Tonight was the night that Arthur and I were going to have our first intimate encounter. I trembled as the book I was reading dropped out of my hand. Quickly, I bent over to pick it up and placed it on the shelf, hoping the maid didn't notice my shaking hands. Then, another maid walked in.

"Hello," she said with a polite smile before she began to arrange the room. I gulped in anticipation.

From my bedroom, I could hear the other maid drawing a bath, the water running steadily. I wondered what temperature she was setting it to. It should be comfortable, especially since my nerves were increasing.

I watched the other maid as she straightened things out, picking up any stray items that were left around. As she put each object away, the butterflies in my stomach increased. She was making the room more to Alpha Arthur’s liking.

I heard the water turn off, and then the first maid returned.

She stood and waited patiently with her hands clasped. I glanced at her.

"Oh, should I get in the tub now?" I asked her. With a nod, she presented the tub to me.

"Yes, you should be clean and look beautiful."

My mind was racing about what was going to happen tonight. Was this going to be anything that I'd pictured? Would it be a good experience or bad? Would Arthur be scary?

Taking a deep breath, I kept myself in check by remembering that my purpose was to have a pup with Arthur. We were not anything more than business partners with a common goal. That was the silent mantra I repeated to myself. I was surprised at how well it began to keep me on task.

I slipped into the tub, using the expensive soaps and shampoo I had been provided. They smelled of mango and other citrus fruits. The water felt so warm and refreshing. When I was ready to get out, the maids were there with towels.

They dried me off, then twisted one towel over my head for a few minutes as the first phase of drying my hair. Once it was dry enough to comb, one pulled a brush through my hair. The other began to rifle through the vanity drawers. When she had finished, I could see she had set a hair dryer and several types of makeup out for me.

They sat me in a chair like I was at a beauty salon and began to style my hair with a round brush. They also applied makeup. It seemed like they knew this routine well. When they were done, I noticed that the original maid had laid out some sexy lingerie on the bed. My heart rate picked up as I stared at the outfit.

"You should hurry up and put this stuff on. We don't want to keep him waiting," the maid urged with a comforting smile.

I walked into the bathroom again, the mirror foggy. As I put on the lingerie I could only see a part of me in the mirror. I wiped the steam away to see myself. I probably should have felt attractive but all I felt was ashamed and awkward about my appearance. I suppressed a shudder and vowed to keep my chin up. As confidently as possible, I made my way to a recliner and sat.

As best as I could, I pushed the shameful feeling aside and tried to keep a calm exterior. Though I succeeded in fooling the maids into thinking I was strong, underneath, I knew the truth.

I was a bundle of nerves.

The clock ticked down and as each minute passed, it felt like an hour. I was anxious, my head swimming with what-ifs, just waiting for him to open that door.

Part of me just wanted it over with.

"Everything will be fine, Ophelia," the maids assured me as they left the room. It was quiet for a few minutes. They must have sensed he was ready or something. My heart was pounding.

Finally, I saw the knob turn and the door open. There stood Alpha Arthur. It felt like my heart stopped. I held my breath for a moment waiting for his lead.

Was he going to make me feel the same way he had before? I stared up at him as he sized me up. Apparently, there wasn't time for niceties. He got right down to business.

"Get on the bed," he ordered me. I tried to mask my trembling as I walked over to the bed.

"O-okay," I stuttered and did what he asked. It didn't matter how often I had pictured this or told myself that I'd be calm and relaxed. The entire situation was strange and felt like I was acting for a role. As he came closer to me I found it hard to breathe.

Slowly, he began to touch me. Then he reached into my hair and pulled it through his fingers. I expected him to kiss me but that never came. He was in immaculate attire and I was half naked.

I felt completely vulnerable, like a piece of meat.

However, I pushed forward. As his fingers slipped over my supple neck, I leaned back, allowing him to continue. I felt that I had a duty to perform so I allowed him to do what he pleased. His lips felt soft against the bare parts of my skin and I didn’t resist. If this was part of what he wanted, then I needed to fulfill the role as best as I could.

I wasn't sure what to expect next. This was the first time anyone had been sexual with me without forcing me. He moved to me and began kissing along my neck, behind my ear, and down to my firm breasts. My nipples became erect underneath the cherry-red bra. His thumbs lingered upon my nipples through the material and I felt a sensation I hadn’t before.

It was mixed with pleasure and apprehension. I knew he wasn’t going to hurt me but I was still quite nervous. When he unsnapped my bra in the front, my ample breasts spilled out, happy to be freed from their imprisonment. His mouth traveled to my nipples, sucking on them gently.

I arched backward slightly due to the mixture of pleasure and curiosity. Although Arthur was a quiet non-communicator under most circumstances, he seemed to know how to take charge in these situations. His lips and hands moved from my breasts down to my nipples and then to the middle of my stomach.

As he lightly kissed my belly button, I inhaled sharply. He continued rolling his tongue along my young skin, slowly unbuttoning the straps from my garter, matching my cherry-red stockings. As he delicately removed the stocking down each leg they came off perfectly rolled. I watched as he placed them at the foot of the bed.

Then he removed my panties, taking his time as I lifted my hips to assist him. With only the garter belt left, he didn’t bother removing it. Perhaps he liked what he saw and it enhanced the experience. I could feel both the front and back straps swinging freely against the front of my thighs and back side.

I waited until he had climbed over me, prepared to give him whatever he wanted. He pressed me down on the bed, unbuckling his belt. It slipped through his suit pants swiftly with a whooshing sound. He laid it on the floor and then unzipped his pants.

When he was closer, he moved my legs apart gently. I knew he was about to penetrate me at any moment. My heart was racing as I imagined what it would feel like. My biggest concern was that it would hurt.

Just when he was about to enter me, I began to get flashbacks. The nights Mike had tried to force me to have sex with him rose to the surface. I was seeing Arthur as the same kind of person as Mike. Even though I knew this was supposed to be a transaction, I couldn't divorce my true feelings from it.

I was so afraid. I didn't get the impression that it was okay to tell him to stop. I tried to push through my feelings of anxiety but they overwhelmed me. I was panting from fear. I couldn't allow things to go further.

"No," I said.

My heart was pounding from fear and the feeling of being trapped. I could feel the weight of his body over mine and as much as I wanted to continue, it was difficult. This was a job, I told myself; however, perhaps this would be the only time we would have to be together. I’d get pregnant right away and this would be the only time we’d have to do this. His fingers trailed along the outside of my thigh and then to my inner thigh. He seemed intent on making this a pleasurable experience for me. Or was this what he was used to with other women? I couldn’t deny that what he was doing to me was changing the experience for me. Maybe even making it more positive, but just as I had said no to him before I couldn’t help but feel the past come back to haunt me. I allowed him to continue. My breathing picked up rapidly. I was trying to shut out what had happened to me. I could feel him between my legs, moving closer to me. It was about to happen at any second. I was doing my best but

Ophelia POV Since the last time I saw Arthur, we haven't seen each other again. Two weeks have passed in the blink of an eye. Anthony and Jessica have taken extra care of me during these two weeks, and my health has improved a lot. It's another sunny day, dispelling the gloom in my heart.I needed some fresh air so I decided to take a walk—a regular part of my health regime. I found myself intrigued by the serenity of a nearby river. As I came closer, however, I noticed the rushing water was faster than it had first appeared. "What a nice day," I said to myself, sighing, relaxing my wrists over the bridge, linking my fingers. Just as the words left my lips, I heard a desperate voice shout, "Help!" I squinted my eyes only to see a small figure struggling against the rapid current. Her head was barely breaking the surface long enough for her to gulp some air before she was swept under again, her arms flailing. "Please!" I heard a gurgling voice

It smelled differently than any I'd been before."Okay, ready?" she asked."That depends," I joked. "Is this a good surprise?""Don't worry. You'll love it!"Quickly she pulled her hands away from my eyes. I blinked a few times trying to get used to the bright lights in the room. My heart skipped in excitement. I couldn't believe it!There in front of me was a cello propped up on its endpin. I held my breath in excitement, pressing my palm to my chest. Carefully, I circled around it, admiring the immaculate F holes, and how perfectly constructed the body was in reference to the waist. The strings were taught, new

I walked around the courtyard and visited Jessica for a little while.I wasn't thinking about Arthur and figured that since our appointment had been canceled the night before, it would be a while before he wanted to meet with me again. After dinner, I was hanging out in my room when I heard a knock. That was peculiar."Yes?" I called. Who could it be?"I'm here to help you get ready," one of the maids said. I walked to the door and opened it."H-hi," I stuttered."Hello," the maid said, waving politely. She stepped into my room just like she had the first night. She began to arrange the room, picking up items and setting up candles.Arthur was coming tonight!"Will you always arrive before Arthur and I are going to be... together?" I asked the maid. She smiled and nodded."If I don't show up, it means he won't either.""Good to know," I whispered, mostly to myself.I'd have to keep that in

I awoke with a start. I didn’t remember falling asleep. Glancing at the empty spot beside me, I realized I never heard Arthur leave. He must have been very quiet. I was still rubbing the sleep out of my eyes when there was a knock at the bedroom door. After covering up with a robe, I walked to the door and answered it. It was one of the maids from the night before. "Hello, I'm here to help bathe you," she said."Oh, no thank you," I said to her, smiling. "But I appreciate it." After politely declining her offer, I closed the door and then walked to the bathroom. Pulling my toothbrush out of the cup holder, I began brushing my teeth. As I stared in the mirror, I was suddenly reminded of a boy I had a crush on when I was in middle school. His name escaped me. I could barely recall what he looked like. But none of that mattered. It was how he treated me that stood out in my mind. Margaret's bullying had increased that year and he was there for me. Our friendshi

After the night we spent together, Arthur visited me again which was unusual compared to his former aloofness. Before he left, it wasn't without another surprise. He handed me his personal phone number and a cell phone. I didn't read too much into it. It was doubtful it was for anything other than keeping tabs on me. Although... It was interesting that he was leaving it up to me to call him. Unless of course, he knew my cell number by heart. Over the next few weeks, save my morning workouts, I was in the mansion. It was boring but at least I had my cello to pass the time. The more I played, the more I felt connected to my mother. That was my saving grace. It was a few days after Arthur had given me his number when Beta Anthony came to talk to me in my room. "I have some news," Anthony said with a smile. "Arthur has agreed to let you go out and meet new people.""Really, Beta Anthony?" I asked with my hand on my chest. I was surprised. "Yes. Are you happ

She squinted her eyes in arrogance.I bet she knew a plentitude of insults. Hopefully, her vocabulary wasn't from her former tutors cursing at her. Instead of responding in friction to her taunt, I paid her a compliment. "It's impressive that you understand the value of time and money." That caught her attention for a moment but then she returned to her dissonance."Whatever," she scoffed. We weren't getting anywhere. Maybe if I was farther away from her, she'd respond. Rising from the couch, I began to walk around the dimly lit room. She had plenty of books and a fireplace similarly to my room at the mansion. As I explored, I found it difficult to navigate. It was

Ophelia POV:Arthur opened the door of the Rolls Royce, and I nodded my thanks as I sank into the opulent white leather interior. I still wasn’t used to the casual luxury that seemed to surround Arthur and his pack. I briefly wondered if I should have dressed up for the occasion, then quickly discarded the thought as absurd. He was only driving me home from a tutoring session with his niece, not escorting me to a ball. Although part of me, unbidden, did wonder what that might feel like. Arthur might be a bit gruff sometimes, but I had to admit, he would definitely make a good, handsome prince. However, handsome princes typically didn't buy women for breeding purposes, so maybe that wasn't necessarily an accurate description of the man seated next to me. "How was Tayor's tutoring session?" he asked, his deep blue eyes gazing intently into mine as he turned the ignition of the car on. "If it's too challenging for you, I'll understand, and arrange for someone else to take c

Ophelia's POV The next morning I woke up early and decided to start my day with a cappuccino from my favorite coffee house ‘Rosalyn's’ before rehearsal. As I opened my door I smiled, turning my face to the warmth of the sun. It was a beautiful morning, and I had plenty of time to walk down to my destination before I had to get to work. One of my favorite things about my new home was the variety of charming shops located within walking distance of my house. I passed my favorite bakery ‘Daily Bread’ and deeply inhaled the fragrant aroma of freshly baked bread wafting into the street. I thought about stopping in for one of their luscious croissants but decided against it. Even though my mouth watered at the idea of the flakey, buttery consistency of their pastries, it wasn't practical. I had some time, but not enough to make two trips. And the coffee was non-negotiable if I was going to get through my morning. I always enjoyed practicing my cello, but rehearsal could be in

Ophelia's POV I had always loved jazz music. It was a passion that I didn't share with most people. It seemed to me that jazz was a polarizing art form. People seemed to either love it or loathe it. And I always seemed to have far too much going on in my life to waste time arguing about its merits with those who fell into the latter category. Nonetheless, from the time I was a child, I would pull on my earphones and be swept away by the sounds of my favorite musicians. Billie Holiday, John Coltrane, and Ella Fitzgerald to name a few. They felt like friends to me. No matter what was happening in my life, I knew that I could always turn to their music in my time of need. Listening to the sweet sound of Coltrane's ‘Cousin Mary’ would always bring me some measure of peace. It was one of the few things I could count on during that dark period of my life. I don't know exactly how it came up in conversation with Allen, but yesterday I confessed to him about this guilty pleasure of

Ophelia's POV The next day, my head pounding with a dreaded hangover, I decided that there was only one surefire way to get Arthur out of my head once and for all. I was going to get rid of absolutely everything related to him. If I needed him out of my life, and out of my head for good, then I needed to purge it all. Everything must go, I thought irrationally, as I grimaced from the burn of the black coffee I had ingested. All of it. It would be like an exorcism. Only the demon I was desperately attempting to vanquish was my love for Arthur. It might be a tall order, but I had to start somewhere, I thought grimly, using the dregs of the bitter brew to swallow two aspirin. I'd begin with the obvious: the villa key he'd given me, our family photo from that baby store, and newspaper clippings I'd hung up beside my bed for the past year. I was sure there was more, but that was where I would begin. The only problem with my plan was that sorting through these items brought b

Ophelia's POV In the days following Christmas dinner, Allen was busier than usual. He spent most of his days at the hospital with his patients, sometimes even sleeping at work rather than driving home exhausted after a fifteen-hour shift. "I'm sorry," Allen told me over the phone during one of his infrequent breaks. "The hospital is just insanely busy right now. It seems as if every shifter in the surrounding territories is either sick or injured right now. I have no idea why!" "Maybe it's the full moon," I joked, trying to make light of the situation.I missed Allen, and the more I was alone with my musings, the more my mind and heart turned to Arthur, and what he might be doing. Did he remember me? Or had he forgotten me as quickly as it seemed? "It's not your fault in any case," I continued, trying to hide the disappointment I felt at the thought of spending another day alone. "Your patients are incredibly lucky to have you." Ophelia's POV I awoke early to the aroma of fresh coffee wafting tantalizingly from downstairs. Smiling, I threw on my new black robe and followed the scent to our kitchen table. And to Allen, my friend. I reflected once again, upon seeing him seated at the table with my son, how lucky I was these days. "Good morning, sweetheart," Allen said warmly, offering me a warm smile. "I was just going to bring you some coffee. Are you hungry for some breakfast?" My stomach immediately growled loudly in anticipation, making us both chuckle. I sat down next to my pup, ruffling his hair. Aiden was a year old, and I thanked the Moon Goddess every single day for bringing him into my life. For bringing both men into my life. "I guess that answers that question," Allen replied with a grin, making his way over to the stove. "Belgian waffles and home fries coming right up!" Allen was tall and handsome, with curly dark hair and melting chocolate eyes. Everything about him was warm and

Arthur's POV I found myself strolling through a winter garden. The sun rose high overhead, spreading warmth throughout my body despite the gentle snow falling to the ground. Everything in my surroundings sparkled as if silver glitter had somehow been mixed with the wintry precipitation.I ambled slowly past an ice sculpture, which miraculously bore Catherine's likeness down to the smallest detail. Even the tiny laugh lines around the corners of her mouth stood out in relief. For some reason, I felt as if the statue was purposefully mocking me. Telling me to give up, that my love would always be lost to me. This angered me, and with a muttered curse I drew my broadsword from its sheath. Raising it above my head, it glinted under the rays of the sun as if on fire. Grinning, I brought down my sword and decapitated the effigy in one swift stroke. It had been satisfying to kill her, if only symbolically. But before I could reflect upon why that might be, I heard something that to

Rushing around frantically, I searched for her in the last direction that I'd seen her go.It felt like I walked for ages but finally, I knew she was near because suddenly the storm swirled away into the distance, then ceased. The snow was melting and as I trudged toward her, shivering and frostbitten, she stood in a beautiful, lush garden.
