Cyrus POV
I wanted her. I’ve never desired something so badly and not gotten it. Whatever I wanted, I had to have—whether it was the blood of those I wished dead or the thrill of playing with anyone I chose. Hades always ensured I got exactly what I craved. It had always been this way… until the day we went to the auction house and saw her for the first time. I was the first to catch her scent, and in that moment, when she appeared on that stage, something inside me snapped. I wanted nothing more than to take her away from the prying eyes of the men that looked at her like she was some commodity– to kill everyone of them, pluck out their eyes and end the pathetic lives of those who dared lay a hand on our mate. But Hades? That bastard didn’t flinch. He was an emotionless monster who didn’t feel a thing—not even for his mate. To him, she was nothing more than wolfless, blind, and weak. But I didn’t care. She was mesmerizing—almost too mesmerizing. Her beauty seemed to cast a spell on me, making me lose all sense of rationality. I wanted her, I wanted to mark and claim her so I simply waited for an opportunity for Hades to slip up. Lose the control he had over me and it came sooner than I expected. Finally, I'm out. “Playtime,” I chuckled, my silver eyes snapping open. A guttural growl rumbled from deep within as her soft lips pressed against mine, shattering the last bit of restraint I had left. I pulled her tighter against me, my hand sliding to her waist and down to her butt, pressing her flush against my hardened length. My other hand moved to the back of her head, fingers tangling slowly in her snow-white hair as my teeth teased her bottom lip. I rolled my hips against hers, drawing a gasp from her as she instinctively tried to pull away. But I didn’t release my grip; instead, I held her tighter, pressing her against the door. Her breath hitched, and I could feel the warmth radiating between us, her body responding to mine. A low groan escaped me as heat rushed through me—I wanted her more than anything. I pulled back, giving her a moment to catch her breath before my lips found her neck, sucking and grazing gently with my teeth with the intention of leaving my mark at where it truly belonged. “K-King, what are you doing?” she whispered, her voice barely audible as her cheeks flushed—was it embarrassment? Lust? Maybe both. “Mate.” I tightened my hold on her, leaning in to inhale her delicious scent at her neck. A smirk tugged at my lips as I stared at her to gouge her reaction. Her pretty white eyes widened at my word and her mouth opened in shock at the endearment. This time, she clung to me even tighter as I carried her to the bed, settling her onto my lap. “Mine,” I whispered, placing trails of kisses on her neck. She brought her hand to push me back while she tried to stand but I chuckled holding her close, my arms wrapped around her waist, bringing even closer than we already were. Our lips were only just inches apart and I smiled, using my thumb to caress her swollen plump lower lip. "It's okay; I won't hurt you. I just need you to sit still for me, mate. Can you do that?" She looked confused, but eventually, she stopped struggling, though I could tell my touch still made her tense. "I'm Cyrus," I smirked, "Hades' wolf." “Cyrus?” Her eyes widened as she said my name, but she didn’t pull away. Hearing it roll off her lips felt unexpectedly perfect. “Do you like my name?” I asked, leaning closer, my breath brushing against her lips as her cheeks flushed a deeper shade. “I like yours, Davina.” "I… I like yours too," she murmured softly, her hands trembling slightly. I could see she was nervous, and I couldn’t help cursing that bastard, Hades. Look at what he’d done—our mate was actually scared of us. "Would you like to moan it, then?" I asked, raising a brow. Her eyes went wide. "What?!" I laughed. "I'm just kidding, I'm just kidding." She relaxed a bit, though I wasn’t kidding one bit. “I've always wanted to meet you, mate” I gave a sigh “ My daily prayers have been all, ‘Please, goddess, let me find my incredibly tense, slightly terrified soulmate.’ Dreams really do come true.” She smiled! She actually smiled. And with that smile, she looked so beautiful it took my breath away. At that moment, I knew I wanted nothing more than to keep her smiling. “Do you like it here, mate?” I asked softly. She didn’t answer, just looked down at the ground, and I knew the truth. She hated it here. Hades treated her like a servant, despite her being his mate. She was meant to be our Luna, standing beside us with her head held high. But that idiot was too blinded by revenge to see her worth—he wouldn’t realize it until he’d already lost her. But I, Cyrus, would be a fool to let her slip away. Not even Hades would make me give her up. Wait a second. “Do you want me to mark you?” I asked, practically buzzing with excitement. If I marked her as our mate, then Hades would have no choice but to accept her! I’m a genius. I didn’t wait for her response; I had to mark her. If I did, the mate bond would strengthen, and Hades wouldn't be able to reject her. If he tried, it would weaken us both. “No… no” I tilted her head to the side, and her eyes widened in horror as she realized what I was about to do. I felt a pang of guilt for doing it without her consent, but as I’d always been, I was one to take what I wanted—whether she consented or not. My fangs extended, and just as I was about to sink them into her neck, a low growl reverberated in my mind. It was a warning—a deadly warning. I could feel it. He was regaining control, and it was only a matter of time. I had to act quickly. She struggled, but I held her still. As the tip of my fang brushed her skin, I heard his voice. “Do it, and I’ll end herHades POVEverywhere was dark and eerily quiet. I’d slipped into my own consciousness—a place I knew well whenever Cyrus took control or shifted. Just as he could take over in my human form, I could also take control in his wolf form. But this time, he’d forced the shift. And as I listened and watched him kiss her—I was pissed. It wasn’t because he was kissing her; she was our mate, so he had every right to do as he pleased with her. No, I was furious because he had challenged me—he’d forced the shift. How dare he.This was the first time he’d done something like this, but I knew I was partly to blame. Before I even realized it, I’d lost control—I’d kissed her. My body had reacted before my brain, and damn it, that sneaky wolf had used that to seize control. I hated disobedience. I hated losing control. And it all started the moment she came into our lives.“It’s okay; I won’t hurt you. I just need you to sit still for me, mate. Can you do that?”“I’m Cyrus, Hades’ wolf.” He said in a
Davina’s POVHades kissed me. Cyrus kissed me.And I kissed them both back.Technically, they were the same person. Even though I never had a wolf, this was common knowledge. Despite the distinct personalities that set Hades and Cyrus apart, they were still one.On my eighteenth birthday, I didn’t shift like other werewolves do. Every girl and boy has their first shift at eighteen, but I didn’t. That day was the day I lost everything—everyone. A medium once told me that my wolf might have hidden away because of the trauma. She said it had gone into hiding, but I didn’t know how to unlock it. So eventually, I just gave up.I gave up on trying to unlock my wolf and focused on finding Sebastian instead. Earlier, I had wanted to leave, to avoid getting tangled up with Hades and escape from this place. But somehow, here I was, sitting on his lap.Damn it.“What’s wrong? Would you rather have Cyrus here instead of me?”I sat there, frozen, unable to utter a single word, with only a towel co
Davina’s POV“Wait a damn minute! Are those… hickeys?!”“No—” I tried to say something, but Eva gently removed my hand from my neck. I felt her shocked gaze on me, and I sucked in a breath, keeping my head down. I didn’t know why I felt as if I’d been caught doing something wrong. He… he was my mate, so it shouldn’t have been wrong, right? But then again, I couldn’t tell anyone that the king was my mate—that was one of the rules he’d given me in the car.She looked like she wanted to say something but decided against it. “I must have seen it wrong,” she laughed awkwardly. “Come on, let’s get you something to eat. You must be hungry.”I relaxed slightly at her words, breathing a sigh of relief. She didn’t push further, instead pulling me along to eat.The dining area we sat in was designated for the maids. She explained that the king didn’t use the main dining hall; instead, he preferred to eat in his study. Since I was assigned to serve him, it would be my duty to bring his meals ther
Davina’s POV“Davina!”I stopped cleaning and turned toward the sound of the voice. Eva gently took my hand, pulling the rag from my grip. Though I couldn’t see her, I knew she was smiling. It had been a week since I arrived here, and I had grown close to Eva. She was the one who made this place feel a bit more comfortable—and she was my… friend.“Davina, let’s go into town,” she said, and I tilted my head in confusion.“Can we go out?” I asked, feeling her grip tighten on my hand. She’d told me before that we couldn’t leave because of the upcoming hunting games.“Of course, we can’t go near the boundaries surrounding the pack, but we can still go into town. There’s so much to do outside—it’s far livelier than staying cooped up in the palace. Emmanuel already gave us permission. Since the king isn’t around, he said we’re allowed to go, but he warned us to stay out of trouble.” She scoffed.I hadn’t seen the Lycan King for a week straight after what happened in his room. Eva said the k
Davina’s POVThe moon hung high, casting shadows across the courtyard. I stood in the clearing, my breath steady, my muscles tensed with anticipation as I watched the man before me with narrowed eyes.I swiftly moved to the side, barely avoiding the hand that came at me. Shifting my stance, determination fueled me and I charged forward, using my fist to direct a blow at him.“Too slow” He frowned as he deflected my attack effortlessly with his hand. I yelled in frustration and directed a kick to his side but he seemed almost bored as he avoided me, sidestepping the attack with ease, his eyes never leaving mine for a second. His attention was on me, watching and accessing my every move. His eyes flashed amber when he noticed my kick and he jumped back, dodging it.“Too predictable” He yawned, blocking my punch with just a casual flick of his wrist. Strands of my wet hair stuck to my face as I groaned, my breath coming out uneven. I watched him smirk, undisturbed and unbothered. I was
Davina’s POV“Wake up, Davina. You need to wake up now” I felt a hand on my shoulder, shaking me awake. My eyes fluttered open, and the world came into focus. I had fallen asleep while waiting for Father, I groaned and sat up, staring at the person before me.“Mom?” I asked, trying to adjust to the darkness. When I finally did, my eyes widened in horror at the sight before me. Mother’s face was close to mine, but something was wrong. Blood was smeared across her cheeks, her lips trembled as she held Sebastian close and both had tears falling from their eyes.“Mom, are you okay?” I whispered, my voice barely audible over the pounding in my ears. The sight of the blood staining her clothes, dripping from wounds I couldn’t even make sense of, sent a chill down my spine. My heart raced and my hands reached out instinctively.“Davina, listen to me” She held my hands as tears fell from her cheek “Your father-” She took a harsh breath, trying to form coherent words.“Your father is dead.”T
Davina’s POVFive years later. “We have item sixteen, a twenty-year-old she-wolf who has been trained to fulfill a man’s every desire. Perfectly obedient, Perfectly broken, what more could a man want.” There were sounds of chuckles as Valen paused before continuing. “This item is only on lease for 15 days though and she must be returned in the perfect state so let's start the bidding at twenty silver!”.“Thirty sliver!” Someone yelled.“Sixty sliver” Another countered.I had my head down as I listened behind the curtain with the other people that had been arranged in a line to be sold like commodities. We were commodities if you think about it, the moment you entered the Veil Auction house, your life and death did not matter and you would be only seen as an object whether you liked it or not.“Eighty slivers!” Valen’s voice cut through the crowd. “Eighty silver, going once… going twice…” There was total silence as he paused for a breath before bringing his gavel down. “Sold!”Soun
HADES POVI tapped my fingers continuously in a rhythm as I gazed down at the stage below. My eyes were glued on the figure that had her head down, her hair is white, just like the little tattered dress that did nothing to hide her small body.“Ladies and gentlemen, our next item is a true prize among our ranks. I present to you a pure breeder”.A breeder, huh? I tilted my head with a frown as her scent- lavender and a mixture of honey continued to draw me in, almost like a spell, igniting my senses. “Item twenty five is rare, breeders like her have an extraordinary ability to pass on formidable traits, ensuring that any offspring will be powerful and resilient. Her bloodline is a rare treasure-one that can elevate any pack to greatness”.“Bidding starts at one hundred silver!”.“Three hundred sliver!”“Five hundred!”“Mate” Cyrus, who had been quiet since we got here, suddenly growled in my mind, making me scoff.“No”.“What do you mean no?” Cryus asked menacingly.“I can't smell
