OLIVIA

The air in the room was thick with tension. Luna Claire glared at me. Her features tightened in a frown and her eyes gleamed with disgust as they swept over me. I lowered my eyes to the ground, shifting uncomfortably.

From the corner of my eyes I could see Lisa narrowing her eyes at me in annoyance alongside her friend, Bella, who was right beside her shooting me an icy glare.

My eyes fell on Rowan, he was slouched on the couch next to his mother like he had not a care in the world.

The news that I tried to seduce Rowan had reached the ears of the Luna. I knew that Bella or Lisa would report the matter to her but I really did not prepare to face her wrath.

Luna Claire sent for Rowan immediately. She, of course, wanted to hear from the horse's mouth.

Her face widened in shock as Rowan answered in the affirmative at the subject of me being his fated mate.

Luna Claire laid back on the couch and propped herself on one elbow. Her eyes narrowed at me for a brief moment and then closed tightly as she pondered on the situation. She knew I was faultless in this case. If I had a choice, I would rather not be fated to any member of this pack at all.

I’ve had my own share of the mistreatments of unranked members by the ranked members of the pack.

I wasn't born an omega. Some years back, I was the beta's cherished daughter, safe and protected.

Life was good, until that dreaded day when our pack was attacked and father was killed. I was devastated, I remember running about wildly, looking for mom, but she was nowhere to be found. Eventually, she was declared missing.

Since my parents were gone, I was catered for by the alpha who thought it necessary to repay my father's sacrifice for the pack. That was until the Alpha also died in another brutal attack a few months ago.

Then I had gone very fast from being an average wolf under the alpha's care to an omega with no family at all.

I wasn't expected to scrub and clean after the ranked members just like the other omegas but I've had to endure beatings and spiteful words often hurled at me. Unfortunately for me, I am being treated worse than some omegas as Luna Claire's dislike for me was glaring. Whatever the feud was between us, I was yet to understand.

She didn't hide the fact that she hated me for some unknown reason nor did she leave any stone unturned when it came to meting out punishments to me.

Luna Claire slowly straightened herself back up, and heaved a deep sigh. She had probably figured how best to go about the situation or even the worst punishment fit for me.

I busied my mind, counting each passing second until Luna Claire began to speak.

“Olivia,” she called, drawing my attention back to herself. My heart raced in panic. I dreaded what she was about to say even before she spoke. Whatever it was, I was sure it was no good.

She hesitated for a brief moment before spilling her decision.

“You will be kept aside as his mistress.” She dropped the bombshell.

“What!” Lisa was shocked. Her eyes had grown wide as saucers. Lisa was not only the present beta’s older daughter, but she was Rowan's chosen mate, specially picked and favored by Luna Claire. In a couple of days, she would be mated to him and would officially become the Luna of the Cold Moon pack.

“Lisa, as much as I do not want this, I need not remind you that Rowan needs his mate for his wolf to become stronger. Do I?” Luna Claire asked in an uptight frown, making Lisa swallow.

Lisa shook her head severally, “Not at all, Luna.” she admitted. She could not afford to offend the Luna afterall.

“This is solely for the benefit of the pack, Lisa. It would be better if you don't think too much about it.” She scolded.

“You will be claimed and marked as his Luna.” She pointed at Lisa, pausing for a brief second to let her words sink in. Her eyes swept over everyone in the room finally settling on me.

I tried to steady my breathing. Everyone in the room had their eyes on me now. I was able to handle their stares before now, but at the moment, I desperately wanted the ground to open up and swallow me. Maybe it would if I prayed hard enough.

“Lisa here will attend to the pack duties as the Luna while you will be reserved to specially take care of his wolf.” She declared, completely ignoring the fact that I could have a different opinion about this.

It did not matter to her that she was practically enforcing her decision on me not caring how I felt about this whole thing.

My eyes met with Rowan's. He shrugged lazily, a silent cue that he was unable to do anything about it.

Just great.

I am expected to watch my fated mate claim and mark another wolf, while being kept aside as his mistress because as an alpha, his wolf ‘needs’ his mate to become stronger.

Was I really a terrible person in my past life to be presented with such a horrible fate in this present one? I wondered in my heart.

“Are we clear on this?” Luna Claire asked, her gaze alternating between Lisa and I.

A lump formed in my throat, making me swallow. “Yes, Luna.” I answered. I wasn't even given a choice in the first place. All I could do was hope that some magic would occur or some supernatural being would appear and rescue me from this horrible fate.

“Yes please,” Lisa responded, her eyes gleaming with hatred at me. She was obviously displeased with Luna Claire’s decision.

I barely managed to make my way out of her office, with my knees almost giving way underneath me as I walked.

I managed to get to my room without aid, and as soon as I laid on my bed, the events of my last birthday, a day I was supposed to cherish but had turned into a nightmare, flashed through my mind.

Flashback

I had just turned eighteen. Although I had no family to celebrate with, I was hoping to make the best out of it. The excitement of meeting my mate as soon as possible overwhelmed me. He was the only hope I was holding unto.

I sang as I tried on new outfits given to me by Lily, my only friend in the pack, for my birthday. I was checking out myself in the mirror and gushing over a beautiful red dress when I caught a whiff of this scrumptious scent of cinnamon and coconut. It appealed to me, growing stronger as it advanced towards me.

Rowan had walked in on me while I changed my dress. My breath hitched in surprise, then it slowly dawned on me that he was the owner of the delicious scent clouding my senses.

“Mate!” He muttered almost in a whisper, confirming my suspicions. I froze to the spot for a moment in utter dismay.

Was this some sort of a joke or something?

How could I be fated to a man who was already taken? Fated to no other than the future alpha for crying out loud. What wrong had I done to the moon goddess? I thought bitterly.

His sudden charge toward me brought me back to the present. He grabbed me and pinned me to the wall. The feel of his breath on my neck emitted sparks that coursed through my whole body. My cheeks flushed as my body shuddered in delight at the contact.

“You smell so delicious.” He growled in a husky voice. His head hung for a split second before it lowered, bringing his mouth to meet mine.

“Rowan..” I called in fear for my life. I couldn't risk anyone seeing us in this position.

“Please stop.” I begged.

The creak of the door sent me into a fit of panic with Bella peering into my room just at the time.

“Rowan!” Bella gasped, Her gaze shifted to me in disdain.

“Dammit!” He cursed as he dashed out after Bella who marched straight out of the room.

“I'm done for.” was all I could mutter as I sank down on my bed.

End of flashback

I let the tears freely run down my cheeks, I needed the release, I could no longer bottle up the pain I felt as Luna Claire's pronouncement had weakened me to my bones. My heart broke the more I thought about it.

Everything I ever owned was always in one way or the other taken away from me.

My parents were snatched from me by death.

My position as the beta’s daughter was stripped off me.

Now my fated mate was being mated to another.

No parents.

No rank.

No mate.

LISA It would be an understatement to say I am displeased. I am as furious as hell about how this whole mate issue was playing out. Rowan doesn't seem bothered, if anything, he seemed to be very much pleased with his mother's decision. Everyone in the pack knew that Rowan liked Olivia. He had liked her for years now, even though his relationship with her had only been that of mere friends. Although he grew distant from her shortly after the loss of his father, our alpha. Their friendship went totally sour when Luna Claire picked me as her son's chosen mate so he could take over the pack. OLIVIA I walked into the large hall with Lily. She had insisted that she wasn't going to leave me all by myself in my room. She wasn't hearing any of the excuses I made to not attend the party.Lily is Lisa's younger sister, they are the present beta’s daughters. While Lily was calm and feisty, Lisa’s the opposite of her sister, loud and rude.“If you really want to go ahead with your rejection, then you should watch him mark Lisa. You would see yourself hating him for real.”Those were her words to me all through the day. Her idea of motivation marvelled me at times. She was always blunt at it with no hidden feelings. Lily had rejected her mate a few months back, on the very day she met him. She stumbled on him plunging ferociously into another she-wolf. I often wondered how she was able to cope.I had let her know that I would be rejecting Rowan. His regular sexual episodes with Lisa were getting to the height of it since the Luna's order. CAMERON No sooner had I sat on the seat reserved for me, than my beast was on the verge of taking control. I fought hard to remain in control, releasing my Lycan aura as I reigned in my beast. Everyone bared their necks, submitting to my Lycan aura including the alphas present at the occasion except this beautiful werewolf. She stood straight and unbothered for a few seconds, then in the next, as though she realized herself, she bared her neck too in submission.Something about her that got me hooked. It was deeper than mere attraction, I was completely smitten by her. As my eyes darted to her every passing now and then, the desire to own her arose greatly inside of me.The oath taking commenced immediately after I made my entrance. I wore a bored expression all through as the ceremony was honestly boring. These werewolves were just too extra, doing too much at once. By the time the alpha had been sworn in with his Luna, I was already fed up with their shenanigans. I looked at the

My days as the ‘acting’ alpha were over, I am now officially, the Alpha of Cold Moon pack. I felt different now, maybe it was the feeling that came with being an Alpha. I smirked.“My Alpha,” my Luna called sweetly, her eyes appealing to me seductively. I smiled at the beautiful woman sitting on the edge of my bed and was tempted to join her. But Echo, my wolf, gave a low growl of disapproval, he wanted his mate. With a shake of my head, I stepped forward and leaned to kiss her on the forehead. “Not tonight, Lisa.” I uttered softly, wiping the sweet smile off her face. Her eyebrows shot up at me questionably, “How do you mean?” She cupped my chin, drawing me closer to herself gently. “We should consummate our mating process tonight.” She pouted. “You're right! But not tonight.” The disbelief on her face was slowly turning to a frown. “Baby, we've had p

OLIVIA“Come on Via, you should calm down. Leaving the pack isn't the best option.” Lily said calmly, trying to talk me out of packing my things to leave the pack. “So what am I supposed to do now? Stay back and continue to see Rowan every other day?” I asked in a mean voice, as I continued to pack my stuff, not even throwing a glance at Lily. I picked only the necessary things, I didn't have much stuff anyway. I honestly would not like to remain here when Luna Claire finds out that I rejected Rowan last night. Although I have no place to go to, I still needed to get as far away from this pack as possible, now that they were still unaware of what had transpired in my room the day before. The door opened to reveal Lisa walking into the room. My heart did a flip as I got up to my feet, showing respect to her as the Luna of Cold Moon. Bella took a stance as she hovered at the door. “Look who's trying to run away, the alpha's precious little mistress.” Lisa taunted, her eyes glittered m

CAMERON “GET YOUR FILTHY HANDS OFF MY MATE!” I snarled. A very dangerous aura emanated from my body as anger rolled off my body in waves. I clenched my fists tightly to prevent myself from giving in to my beast's desire to rip the throat of the woman assaulting my mate. I was not a man who would lay a finger on a woman. I ignore the looks of shock and surprise on the faces of the assailants and her accomplices and rushed over to my mate who was lying on the ground. Her body was covered in a mixture of dirt and her own blood. Her beautiful face that haunted me since the previous night was so battered. I had been on my way to an attacked pack when I decided to make a diversion to the Cold Moon pack just to get another glimpse of my mate. Gray had been prancing in my head for hours nonstop. His restlessness was accompanied with demands to see his mate. A mate that we just met the previous day. Resisting him was fruitless so I ordered Landon to take a detour path to the Cold Moon pack.

CAMERON The cry from my mate's hospital room notified us that she was awake. I dashed into the room with the speed of light hurriedly sitting next to her on her bed. A muffled groan escaped her lips again and all I wanted to do was grab her in my arms and comfort her. She looked extremely pale and I could see the pains in her eyes. Right there, I knew I needed to make the perpetrators pay for their sins. “Sorry baby, I'll make them pay for this.” I assured her. I would protect her with everything in me, even to the last drop of my blood, I swore within myself. She flinched as my hand made its way to her hair in an attempt to stroke it. I froze. Just how bad had she suffered in the hands of her own people? I wondered. She fixed her gaze on me with all of her attention. I could see her struggle with grasping who I was to be seated at her bedside. “I am your mate.’ I said firmly. A crease formed on her forehead as she shot me a questioning look. “Your second chance mate.” I offerred,

I had planted my golden tiara in her room last night just so that I could get a chance to finish her off. Death was the punishment for whoever that tries to steal another’s symbol of authority thereby challenging the rightful owner. Not that I would kill her myself though, I secretly hoped that Claire would, as she was once a Luna too. She did not hesitate when I mindlinked her to, seeing as the culprit was Olivia, whatever her grievances were towards Olivia was unknown to almost everyone in the pack. CAMERON I am seated at the front passenger seat and the two of my men are both seated at the back with Landon in the driver's position maneuvering the car on the dirt track at a very high speed as we rushed to the Cold Moon Pack. With Gray prancing in my head, threatening fire and brimstone on the whole pack, I knew it would be hard for any of us to control the other. The patrol guards at their borders recognize us as Lycans and as usual, they did not stop us to search or do anything, not like they had a choice though. lThe female blonde that so resembled the sick alpha happens to be the first person I meet right at the entrance of the pack house. Her sudden scream as she jolted in fear gave her out immediately. Luckily for her, I would never raise my hand on a woman except in a battle. Her sister-in-law who I know as the current Luna rushed forward, rambling some nonsensical stuff which I supposed was meant to be pleasantries. “Your Majesty we.. we…” She's clearly too scared to

I had felt that something go wrong though - a painful burning effect had spread through my body while the woman who was her exact carbon copy applied the antidote on my injury. I had thought it was due to the silver in the injury on my arm. How could I have swept that warning aside? My major regret now is not marking her before now. It would have been easier to find her, I would simply mindlink her wherever she is and rescue her. My beast is going crazy at the thought of our mate going missing while she's still unmarked. Coming home to meet one mate's absence is the worst feeling ever. No sign, no hint, nothing whatsoever that has been able to lead me to her for almost 48 hours now. OLIVIA “What the hell is going on here?” I am barely able to recognize Rowan's cold voice. He looked visibly angry as he took further steps into the room, filling it with his aura. I think I'm the only one who is majorly affected by his alpha aura. Bella stiffened slightly in the spot where she's standing while Lisa merely shifting in discomfort. “Who untied her!?” Rowan frowned.“Uhm… That's wasn't intentional.” Lisa said nervously, looking frightened. Was she scared of her mate? I had felt it, I felt like something was off about him. Even I, could barely recognize the Rowan before me now. He seemed lost. More like, he had lost his real self. “Get out!” He spat, not looking at the two women. The resounding thud of the door on its frame made my heart skip in fright. I was alone in a room with this new Rowan, a mentally deranged Rowan. His hand brushed his blonde way, messing it in a way that passed the message that he was pissed. I slowly moved back as he advanced towards me,

{Cold Moon Pack}OLIVIA I’m woken up by a sharp, searing pain in my head. The last I could remember is that I was having a run in the woods. I twist my face in pain as I try to remember what happened next but my thoughts are a mess. Did I run too much and pass out? How long have I been lying down here? “Ouch!” I winced in pain, and try to hold my head in place but my arms won't move. I sat up with a groan and just stare around confused. I’m totally confused. I still can’t move my arms, but my fingers were able to feel the cold ground beneath me. Wait a second… my eyes take in my surroundings and widened in alarm when the realization hits me, this place smelt familiar - I was in my former pack. “Oh, Goddess!” I cried as another searing headache starts to spread. Rowan must have brought me back to his pack. “What the hell.” I groan, more out of frustration than pain. Then I remember that he forcefully tried to mark me. “Aarghhh!” I scream, my heart beat accelerating with dread

ROWAN “Go get her! Go quickly, mark her! Her wolf still recognizes you as their mate!” My mother's voice sounded as she roughly pushed me out of the car with which I had driven us to the woods where I spotted Olivia a few days ago. Losing Olivia had hurt my ego at some point. My pride as an alpha couldn't take it that my originally fated one was being taken away from me. I didn't know which hurt more, her rejecting me or her being taken away from me. I had Lisa but my wolf still craved Olivia. She was mine even before we both knew about it so I would not have her being whisked away from me by anyone, not even if he was the prince. For weeks, I searched the neighboring packs and surroundings with no trace of her. I was almost at the verge of giving up on finding her when I sighted her from afar a few days ago as she stepped out from the woods. I sensibly made this woods my second home, having leisure runs in it every now and then. For days she did not show up until yesterday, I was t

CAMERON I allowed her to proceed with applying the contents of the bottle on my injury, its black liquid trailing down my arm, the potency of the lethal substance had weakened considerably and the injury was starting to heal faster - much faster though with my Lycan genes. My eyes continuously strayed from the injury to the dark haired woman applying the antidote. What in the name of doppelganger was happening here? I thought to myself. Landon too had stopped for a moment to take a good look at her. She looked like she was in her mid thirties even though her skin looked beaten up by the harsh weather and perhaps, untold sufferings. The green eyes, the long dark thick hair, their pale and smooth skin- this woman still had the looks even amidst hardship. I had a feeling that she would have a relationship of some sort with my mate. “Shit!” I muttered, guilt washing over me as I realized that I had not really had a heart to heart conversation with her save for very few exchanges. CAMERON I joined Landon and his group alongside the three alphas that were with me. There were carcasses of rogues scattered around with the smell of rogue blood heavy in the air. Landon was still in his beast form. “Good job.” I spoke gruffly and swept past them with everyone following behind as we continued our mission to track the rogues. We hadn't gone too far when we came across another set of rogues. It looked like they were guarding another set that seemed to be their masters. We handled them like the rogues they were, dirty, smelly and useless. With a sense of urgency, we bursted into a large clearing with a small house situated in the middle and was greeted by an awful sight. Right before the front of the house was a group of female werewolves almost the size of a small pack with numerous chains entwined on their legs and hands that showed that they were been held captive. These she-wolves stared in horror as they watched the show an athletic man who stood before them was

CAMERON I halted on the spot as my gaze landed on the large footprint that was obviously not that of a werewolf. It was quite relieving that we were making progress on tracking the rogues as the rogue attacks were on the increase. With a deep inhale, I sniffed the air in hopes to find more links to the attackers. My nose crinkled in disgust as I not only made out the rotten smell of rogues in the air, but also the empty smell of an ominous being. I was sure it belonged to someone more powerful than regular werewolves even though I am barely able to perceive its very faint aura that lingered somewhere in the air. This wasn't good at all. Looking at it from another angle, these rogues probably had the support of a larger shifter, could be a werebear or even a Lycan. Whoever the bigger presence was, he was very skilled in covering his tracks only that it was almost impossible for a Lycan to leave traces. Could this mean that they wanted to be traced? I pondered on the possibilities.

AVA Olivia was so angry that she couldn't remain in the house with the blonde bitch. I was sure I disliked her with everything in me but my human’s dislike for her greatly exceeded mine. We had just returned home after a good sprint in the woods. It was our regular way of putting away boredom as our mate was always unavailable and in the real sense, it helped us avoid the blonde as much as possible. Just as we thought we had succeeded for the day, my human ended up getting enraged by the blonde’s manipulative words. I figured she was going to return to the woods, so I took control and led us back to the woods. Right after she pulled off her clothes, I shifted, pushing her to the reccess. The very first time we shifted when we located this place, I surprisingly felt unexplainable energy burst through me. I felt much more stronger than the usual beta I was. I also discovered that I could pick up sounds much sharper and clearer than how I used to back then in my former pack. Whether
