I was officially annoyed and felt slightly rejected by the pack. After being escorted to the largest mall on this side of the island, I came to realize fairly and quickly how fast pack news would spread, especially when it involved the alpha snapping someone’s neck for his mate. I was treated with respect in every store I entered. It would have been fine if the wolves hadn’t been: A, shaking; B, stuttering and apologizing for nothing; and C, avoiding me like I was that one weirdo you see in the streets late at night, thinking I was going to rob you so you pick up your pace and look the other way. I wanted to meet new people and mingle with the pack and get as much information as possible, but with the way things were going, I’d have better luck getting information from Zaliver. We all knew how much he loved to talk.“It’s fine, Luna. They’re just not sure how to handle you yet. That’s all. The pack never really expected to have a female alpha,” Court comforted me as I looked through s
My face turned into a rosy color. I didn’t get to buy any of those because of how odd everyone was around me, but I couldn’t just not buy it. Now, I had to, not for Zaliver but because I was not about to go around like captain commando. We entered the store immediately. Johnson walked away for a moment and came back a second later with a petite feminine blonde who has blue eyes that looked similar to him. She seemed to be a few years older than me, dressed in a light purple dress. I smiled and was surprised to see her large baby bump. Her eyes immediately sought out mine. I held my breath preparing myself for her to react like the others, but I was happy to see her smile back at me without fear in her eyes. She extended her hand, and I shook it politely.“Hello, I’m Johnson’s sister, Hannah. You must be Luna Vivian. A pleasure to meet you,” she said sincerely. I could tell she meant it. She looked at me in the eyes, but my wolf didn’t feel like she was challenging us or anything like
It was safe to say I had become best friends with a psychotic, evil pregnant woman who enjoyed watching people squirm. Hannah did not let me leave the store until I tried on every provocative piece she shoved at me. Some of those pieces made me want to get on my knees and pray for forgiveness. I had drawn the line on the see-through ones. I mean really, what was the point? After that, she left the store to one of her workers and spent the rest of the day with me, giving me a tour of a lifetime. While Johnson was funny and childishly playful, Hannah was brutally honest, straightforward, and not shy at all. While on tour, she noticed the distance people keep from me. She also called out a waiter who kept apologizing to me after accidentally spilling my drink before it got to the table. Her words did not only snap the waiter of whatever fear he had on me but also seemed to calm the people eating at the restaurant.“Yo, we got your sorry the first and fiftieth time. I think she gets it. C
Zaliver AzralaI shut the door and stood behind it. I heard her movements on the bed and my name that was cursed out in anger. Staring blankly at the wall, my mind was racing with hundreds of thoughts.Who knew such a small brown-haired beauty could drive me crazy? While I did feel a bit wretched, I mainly felt an odd sense of ease knowing she was trapped in my room. It was wrong, no doubt, but it felt so right. She made me chain her to the bed. I wasn’t blind to her lustful gazes and wandering hands when we slept. I never brought them up because I enjoyed them too much and avoided making her feel self-conscious about it.I made my way to my office, which was located far away from the room, in less than a few seconds. I slammed the door with much force, creating a loud bang that shook the room. I walked towards my chair and sat on it with a sigh. I spun around to look at the window behind me and watched the moon high in the sky, illuminating the dark and cold room. The beast within me
A disturbing feeling grew in my chest. I didn’t know what to do with it, but while experiencing goosebumps, I could feel that something was wrong as tension and calmness took over me simultaneously. The beast roared and began fighting for control, thrashing, and pushing against my mental blocks, sending me pain with all its strength. I clenched my hand and spun the chair around back to the desk, pulling a drawer open. Even in the dark, I managed to find the syringe filled with dark purple liquid. I reached in and pulled it out.At the sight of the syringe, he fought harder for control and brought physical pain inside my chest using his slashing claws, causing me to release a hiss. I didn’t stop as blood seeped into my veins. My black shirt was torn, exposing the wounds that quickly healed, while the beast continued its mayhem.I plunged the needle into my right arm, ignoring the slight sting, and exhaled as the burning liquid rushed through my veins and silenced the beast. It left him
Exhaling my anger and frustration, I looked in the direction of the pack house. We were far enough that normal wolves wouldn’t be able to see it, but I wasn’t normal. I could see through the trees and the branches as if the pack house was a few feet away rather than miles. I focused my hearing to the house. My hearing and awareness of everything around me was so amplified that when I tuned into something, it was almost as if I were a ghost, as if I were actually there.Hearing past the TV’s, music, fighting and happy couples, the sleeping and chatting wolves, I moved my hearing to the section where I knew my room was located and listened in on what Vivian was doing. She was already in bed. Her heartbeat was a soft lullaby. She would change her position every once in a while, dragging the chains along the silk covers, then she would fall asleep only to toss and turn again. It gave me a twisted pleasure to know she couldn’t sleep comfortably without me.Knowing she was already in bed, I
I hadn’t seen Zaliver since he chained me last night. It was a good thing that I was in the mood of strangling him. Perhaps with his own chains too. The idea didn’t seem half bad to me.My wolf was just as annoyed as I was, which made me glad she wouldn’t allow him to get away with everything. His reasons were way off for his childish behavior. He knew it well like I did deep down in my heart. He must know deep, deep, deep down. I hoped.I only placed my hand on the young man’s shoulder! As if it was some sort of betrayal. I shook my head. I tried everything to get the chains off—like, hitting it, chewing on it (bad idea), trying to get my hands out, breaking it, and pulling at the chain. Nothing worked. I barely dented the thing. The alarm clock read eight fifty in the morning, making me sigh out loud in both frustration and exhaustion. Although at some point, I did fall asleep last night, but it quickly went away. I just wasn’t comfortable at all. I missed the warmth of Zaliver’s bo
I stood from the bed and popped some of my joints. I walked into the bathroom with the chains dragged behind me. I had to leave the door slightly open to leave room for the chains, which I didn’t like. Everyone knows you’re not supposed to shower with the door open; that’s how creeps get in. I stripped and entered the shower, relaxing my body in the hot water. I was slightly annoyed at each clink that the chains made as they hit each other while I was washing my hair, but I couldn’t exactly remove them. It felt good to shower using feminine products. My shampoo had the smell of fruit blends and lavender. When I finished, I wrapped a towel around my body and stepped out. I was slightly surprised to see that the door was fully opened, but I guess it was expected after all the tugging. I was walking to the closet when I saw something on the bed. Nearing it, I found a note on top of a computer and picked it up, then my heart’s beating went fast. The note had extremely neat yet rough handw
Whistling, I walked around him and whipped my fingers on my shirt.I wrapped my hand around his neck and lifted him out of the chair, making him thrash once more.“Ready to talk? No? Okay. This ought to change your mind,” I said after he spat on the ground as an answer. With one hand around his neck, I thrust my other hand into his lower mid back, going through the skin and pushing my hand into his flesh. I wrapped my hand around his spinal cord and pulled.Snap! His lower half slumped. I pulled my hand out and left half of his spine hanging out of his back. Walking to the front again, I whipped my bloodied hand on his face and smiled as he gave little twitches. His eyes were wide with horror and pain. He seemed to be frozen in shock.“Y-you’re a monster. You’ll go to h-hell,” he managed to say.“Of course I will. Someone needs to take the throne.”I laughed and walked back around him.~•~I clasped the back of Jack’s shoulder and shook him roughly, leaning forward in a serious and sl
I swiped my hand across his chest, leaving four deep claw marks over his chest to which he immediately let out a cry. His wounds began to bleed out and then slowly, so slowly, it began to heal.I made eye contact with him. Pale and sweaty, he glared at me with as much hatred as he could. We hadn’t even begun but he was already throwing glares at me.Swiping at the remaining part of his shirt, I tore it away from his top body, not wanting anything to stand in the way of the next process. He’d be lucky if I didn’t get to his back; that is if he died in this process, of course.“You can’t heal flesh if you don’t have any,” I said darkly, humor thick in my wild-like voice. The beast enjoyed it.He reached out and dug his claws in the top part of Jack’s left shoulder, ignoring the boy’s cry and cutting out the shape of a square on both of his sides. Looking at Jack deeply in the eyes, the beast put his claws under Jack’s skin before it could begin to heal, and pulled downward, yanking the
Zaliver AzralaI stood in front of the metal bolted black door, hearing Jack Ruston struggle against the chains that held him to his chair. If I focused enough, I would see his immense body heat moving through the door, but I didn’t.I heard footsteps approaching me from my right.“Is this what I asked for you to set?” I asked without turning to look at Albericus who grunted out a yes. I nodded at him, making him walk away.My beast grew more and more excited at the prospect of having fun now, finally having someone he was going to sink his claws into for this whole mess. I couldn’t agree more. He paced back and forth within me, lifting its head up and then looking at the black door in front of me. He lunged at it as if he was really doing it. He tried to force me to do so, but I held him back.“Patience . . . You will get your turn,” I murmured to him. When Albericus informed me of the quick and efficient capture and imprisonment of Jack, I was glad. The little rat sat with panic and
Making my way back to the park, I made my way quickly and made sure I looked like I was in a hurry, keeping my head down to avoid having the blood on my face seen by others and get stopped before I’d even make it. The sun was low in the sky, giving off a dramatic and beautiful flare of different shades in the sky. It was perfect.Once I made it a few steps, I began probably one of the best performances in my life.I began pacing back and forth, looking down and shaking my head. I stopped and sat down, bringing my knees to my chest and rocking back and forth very quickly. I then let out sounds of distress. My ears caught the sound of mumbles and slow approaching steps of four hearts. Without having to smell the air, I knew it would be them. They weren’t nearing me fast enough as if not sure what was going on.“Ohhh! I’m so confused! So lonely!” I cried out pathetically. I was feeling so emotionally cold that I was finding it hard not to snort at how flat it sounded. The moment I stood
“But I really should return this; could be important.” I smiled at their surprise and horrified expressions. My sensitive ears picked up a sound—the vibration of a phone. My eyes scanned them, realizing it was coming from the red headed guy.I lifted a brow at him.“Aren’t you going to get that? Might be important .”Shaking his head, he reached into his pocket and took the phone out with a grimace. Pressing the answer button , he brought the phone up to his pale face, which just seemed to lose more and more color over time. The other line answered.“Hello?” he mumbled, looking straight at me.The line on the other side followed his exact same words.“ Mmhh ,” I mumbled, ending the call and pocketing my phone.“Okay, spill. Who are you and why do you have my number, which then leads me to asking why are you following me?” I ask them seriously. I wanted to know what these familiar people were up to and where we met, not to mention why they appeared to be following me.“Look,” the tall
The four strangers didn’t turn to face me; they just stood still. My phone stopped ringing.“Maybe if we don’t move,” the tall blond man began to whisper.“Shut up!” the short red-haired guy whisper-shouted, interrupting the other.“I can’t believe this,“ a tall woman with her dark hair pulled back muttered. Her pony tail moved side to side as she shook her head.“We are so dead,” another with a similar hairdo said.I wasn’t sure what to do. They were all muttering stuff under their breath and not turning around to face me, but that thing with the phone was weird. They couldn’t have called me, right? That would mean that they had been talking about me the whole time. I shook my head mentally. There was no way they were here for me; it must have just been some crazy coincidence.I knew that any other person would have stayed away from them, but something told me they weren’t dangerous. Well I mean, they looked like they were ready for action, but personally, I felt like they wouldn’t h
“Hey, Dad . . .” I began. I guess my tone caught his attention because he frowned.“What’s up?” he said, leaning onto the desk and turning his body to face in my direction with concerned eyes. I groaned and threw my head back, taking a deep breath. I thought for a second before speaking to him.“Do you—I don’t know—ever get the feeling like you’ve forgotten something really important?” I asked. He nodded at me, clasping his hands in front of him.“Plenty of times. Just the other day, I forgot to tell your mother I—” I shook my head at him.“No, like you shouldn’t be doing what you’re doing even though it makes perfect sense as if you’re supposed to be somewhere else doing something else?” I swung my legs over and sat up, placing a hand on both knees. Dad looked at me for a moment before an understanding look crossed his face. For a moment, I thought he understood me.“Is this about you not being in college yet? Because it’s okay to take a year off—” I stood and threw my hands up in fr
I stopped clicking and let the Vampire Diaries play. As soon as Damon came on, my breath hitched. It wasn’t because of his hotness. Looking at him made me go blank. I blinked multiple times and made a face. I squinted at the screen when a sense of déjà vu hit me. Black and blue. I shrugged and kept flickering through the TV.“Somebody saaave meee!—”“I got in one lil fight, and my mom got scared—”“Next up, Hannah Mon—”“I’m not your dad—” I went back.“ . . . tana. ” My brows furrowed in confusion.Staring at the screen, I frowned.“Hannah. Hannah. Hannah?” The name rolled off my tongue without thought. Something about that name. Eh, I was too old to watch this.Slap “Whore! ”“Oookay,” I mumbled to myself, quickly changing the channel.“What are you wearing Jake from State Farm?” My head tilted to the side.“Uhh . . . khakis.”“She sounds hideous.”I turned the TV off. Why did I get the feeling like I had compared someone to Jake from State Farm before? Man, it had been a weird coup
Going back into my own mind and body, I grinned at the boys, not caring how they both tensed and the worry and fright that wafted off of them. I nodded at Albericus. He quickly focused on me, understanding that the next few hours were about to get a whole lot more productive.Any tiredness in my body vanished. My body straightened up and my shoulders rolled back. I tilted my head side to side, cracking the joints. I didn’t even care that my hair was hanging over my eyes anymore. If anything, I knew it made the look on my face a whole lot more chilling. I pointed a finger at my beta and good friend.“Put Jack Ruston into a room under the cells. You’ll find him hiding four blocks away from where his mate lived. It is a rundown hotel that goes by the name Legrove at room 42. If he hears you, he’ll hide out on the roof. Bring him to me. Now go.” Without another word, Albericus shouted in the room, yelling orders into his phone to assemble a team with fierce green eyes and go back to their
