Nova’s POV

I took a deep breath, the words I had been trying to hold back finally spilling out with no way to stop it.

“I have come to realize that I'm in love with you,” I whispered, my heart racing as I fidgeted with my nails. “I love you so much that it hurts when you're not near.” I held my breath as I watched the colour drain from Prescott's face. His reaction was hard to read, and I felt a sudden rush of panic. Had I said too much? Had I ruined everything?

“Y-You love me?!” Prescott sputtered, his voice cracking with disbelief. His face was a mixture of shock and confusion, and I felt my heart sink into my stomach. Had I said too much? Had I ruined everything? I couldn't find the words to respond, and my silence seemed to only add to his confusion.
