Jade's pov

The next morning I was awakened by the smell of food and opened my eyes to see Conri frowning and holding a tray of steaming breakfast.

“Why the long face,” I asked him with a yawn.

“Lawrence has put up several portraits of my mother in the hall. She looks so vibrant it pulls on my heartstrings,” he said sullenly as he placed the tray on the side table.

Sitting up the blanket fell exposing my tattooed chest and I asked him if he had a shirt I could borrow since I couldn't locate mine that I'd taken off in the messy bed.

His lips turned up at the corners as he glanced at me topless.

“You can remain in that state of undress. It's a pleasant view,” he said with a smirk.

“Please, Conri. I'm still working on my shyness,” I muttered and he nodded as he headed to his dresser and grabbed me a clean white t-shirt.
