Jade’s pov

Swallowing uncomfortably, I told him that the meal was for him.

“But you're hungry, Jade,” he said in concern.

Smiling a little I raised my hand and told him that I was fine and I just had a bad night with little to no sleep.

Placing the utensils down he scrunched his mouth and made a humming sound.

“You want to talk about it. I find speaking it out loud releases a lot of pent-up stress,” he said, raising his eyebrows.

Having my gut ache knowing that I should warn him about Earl's threat I exhaled deeply and repeated to him exactly what I had told him before but added the part about my stint at the Alpha's and his silver bullets and guns.

Conri ate while I spoke and would give me bites in between his. When I finished my tale he had a smirk on his face.
