-Roman-I walked up the stairs leading to the front door and stepped inside. The door stood wide open, allowing guests to enter freely. It was a private party, after all, and there was security in place. They quickly offered me some champagne, and I took a glass as I joined the crowd in the expansive backyard. I quickly found the happy couple and congratulated them. They seemed pleased that I had decided to join tonight. I was surprised to see Shane there as well. I knew he was a social butterfly, but I didn’t expect him to show up.“Shane!” I made my way to him after excusing myself from the couple, and Shane turned to see me, smiling.“Well, look who it is!” he exclaimed as we shook hands. He glanced around me, as if searching for someone.“What?” I asked.“Where’s the pretty new queen?” he inquired.I downed my glass, stalling for time, while my cousin studied me.“What?” he asked.“She… isn’t coming,” I replied.“Oh, did you already have a fight? That was fast,” he laughed.I shook
-Anastasia-The lycan king and I locked eyes, neither of us moving, but he was smiling, and I could see how happy he was to see me. Why was he happy, though? Did he not already have a queen?I don’t see his queen, though. She doesn’t need to be at his side all the time, I told my wolf. She knew I was right, but she remained guarded as the king finally moved, creeping closer and sliding his glass across the table. He made sure there were only inches between us before he casually leaned against the bar as he smiled. To my surprise, he reached out and twirled a small lock of my hair before letting it fall.“I’ve been looking for you, little mate,” he said.He has?I felt myself shiver slightly. His scent enveloped me now that the wind was blowing in my direction, and my heart raced as sweat broke out all over my body. I felt turned on instantly, and I knew he sensed that too. He closed his eyes and leaned in closer, his nose mere inches from my neck.“I see you’ve missed me too,” he whisp
-Roman-“If you’re eager to start, we can choose a room here before we head home,” I said.“My home is not with you,” she finally replied.I narrowed my eyes slightly. “But it is, little mate.”She shook her head and shoved me back harder, but I didn’t budge.“Let me go.”“No,” I said, and she looked at me in shock.“Why not?”“Once you give me some answers, I’ll give you some,” I said, smiling.“I will not give you an answer. Now get your hands off me,” she demanded.“No.”“Have you heard of consent?” she asked smugly.I chuckled a little and moved closer to her. “Are you saying you don’t enjoy my touch?” I inquired. She grew quiet, her eyes drifting to my lips. I leaned in, barely grazing her lips with mine, and felt her tremble against me. But then I pulled back, watching as she leaned forward, as if she were about to kiss me.“Well?” I prompted. She blinked a few times, clearly taking a moment to regain her senses, then her walls went up again. Could she not see how good this felt?
-Anastasia-The obvious threat in the king’s voice surprised me.Remember, Ana, he might not be so ready to kill those responsible once we tell him it was lycans. My wolf was right. Lycans looked after each other, just like werewolves did.“A house fire,” I finally admitted, not wanting to reveal too much but enough to satisfy his curiosity. He nodded slightly, looking less angry but still worried. “I’m sorry you got hurt,” he said.“You’re sorry?”He nodded, and I sighed, shaking my head.“What?” he asked, not understanding my irritation.“So you do care?” I inquired.“Huh?”“About the scars.”“I’m not following, Ana,” he replied.“You said you’re sorry, which means you wish I hadn’t gotten burned,” I explained.“Yes, because it must have been painful,” he said.“Or because you don’t want to see them on me.”“Of course I don’t,” he admitted.“Aha!” I pointed at him. “So you do care?”He sighed and shook his head as if I were being ridiculous. Rubbing his eyes for a moment, he then foc
-Roman-I was suddenly filled with questions, but before I could ask, Ana took off into the crowd, and I was too stunned to follow her. Some things began to make sense, like why she hated lycans. If she had witnessed her family being killed—or at least the aftermath of the massacre—it was understandable that she would see all lycans as evil. Yet, I didn’t know why any lycan would attack her family. When I finally pulled myself together, I hurried after her.“Ana?” I called her name, but I lost her in the crowd again. I spotted my cousin and grabbed his shoulder as I approached, turning him to face me.“Hey, what’s going on?” he asked.I had interrupted his conversation, and I smiled apologetically at the onlookers, who quickly gave us some privacy. I pulled him further away and spoke in a low voice.“Did you see a woman in a red dress pass by?” I inquired. He looked around, noting that there were several women in red dresses that night.“Okay, a small werewolf with dark hair and blue e
-Anastasia-It was so hard to lift my head, but I managed to see King Roman storming toward us.“L-Let me down,” I whispered to Jackson, hoping to defuse the situation.“Are you sure?” he asked. “Can you really stand?”“I can stand…”Can we?I couldn’t say for sure, but I didn’t have much choice. The king glared at Jackson like he was about to rip him to shreds, and I wasn’t going to let my cousin die because of an overprotective lycan king who didn’t seem to understand that I wanted him far away. I tried to step in front of Jackson as a shield, but I was too slow. The king grabbed Jackson by the collar of his shirt and shoved him against the car. I reached out to steady myself, nearly knocked over by the force of it.“How dare you touch her?” he growled, his body beginning to transform, muscles expanding, and his nails turning into claws.Shit, I had to stop this before it went too far.“What the hell is going on?” Jackson inquired, confusion etched on his face. “I don’t understand, m
-Roman-Ana’s cousin looked shocked. If his jaw hadn’t dropped before, it surely was now.“Eh… my King,” he stammered.“I hope you’re not going to question this,” I replied with a small smile, running my hand through Ana’s hair and hearing her let out a content sigh. “I’m clearly the right one to help her.”“Don’t… Um, isn’t there someone waiting for you?” Jackson asked hesitantly.“Waiting for me?”“Your… queen?”“My queen is in my arms,” I stated, smiling.Jackson glanced around, searching for someone else, but there was only Ana. When his gaze landed on her, it was clear he began to piece everything together.“Wait…”I chuckled softly, perhaps a bit too much given the seriousness of the situation.“Is Ana…?”“My mate? Yes.”“Fuck!”I looked at him, confused by his reaction, but he quickly shook his head.“No, not that it’s a bad thing. It’s just that I know my cousin isn’t exactly… thrilled about… um…”“Lycans?” I prompted.“Actually, just anyone. Dating has never really been her in
-Jackson-“Wait?” the king asked, sounding surprised.“Yes, just hold on.”“Why?” He narrowed his eyes, clearly displeased with my interference. I could feel his aura growing more intimidating, warning me not to challenge him.“Because… I know my cousin,” I said, trying to make him understand. “I don’t think she wants to wake up in a strange bed, and if you met at the party but she hasn’t mentioned you since, it suggests she hasn’t fully accepted you.”His expression darkened, and I swallowed hard. I might be an alpha, but I stood no chance against a lycan, especially not the king of all wolves and lycans.“She will,” he replied darkly. “Once she learns to look beyond her anger.”“I’m not trying to obstruct you,” I said.“You are at the moment,” he shot back, irritation clear in his eyes.I sighed and stepped back, needing space from his threatening presence.“Listen, how about this?” I suggested. “Let her come home with me, and we can all talk in the morning?”“No.”I sighed again, ex

-Daphne-Two years later.“Jackson?” I called as I walked into my mate’s office. We often spent time together in this space, but I had woken up late today. He lifted his head and smiled at me, his expression brightening as I entered.“Hey,” he replied, his smile growing wider the closer I got.I walked around the desk, grinning playfully. As he reached for me, trying to pull me closer, I playfully moved away, leaving him looking puzzled.“Can’t I touch you now?” he chuckled.“Not yet.”“Oh, are we playing?”“Yup, my own little special game," I admitted.“Is that the game where you tease me mercilessly with your mouth and tongue?” he asked with a smirk.“No," I replied.“Where you strip and drive me crazy?”“Nope.”“I’m getting confused now,” he said, making me laugh. “What kind of game are we playing?”“A guessing game," I revealed.“Okay,” he replied. “Is there a prize for me to win?”He smiled mischievously, and I nodded.“I’m all in, then," he said.“Tell me the first thing that com
-Jackson-Daphne had her fears, but after I recovered and her parents received a proper sentence locking them away for years, she stepped up to the role of luna. I had never seen her flourish like this before. It was as if a hidden side of her had been waiting to emerge, ready to show what she could truly accomplish. We offered the pack members a choice, and almost everyone preferred to merge rather than remain independent.Daphne and those who chose to join her moved to our territory, but she still retained ownership of her parents’ former land and house. She made it clear that anyone who wanted to stay could do so, but they would remain under both our control. Everything was going great between us.I watched from a distance as my mate returned from a late run. Daphne smiled brightly as she saw me on the porch, and I pulled her closer, kissing her deeply.“Hey,” I whispered.“Missed me?” she chuckled.“Very much. We hardly do anything but work lately,” I admitted.“Yeah, what else sho
-Daphne-Jackson had to undergo minor surgery, but the doctor assured me he would recover quickly. It wasn’t long before he woke up, and all of us were there for him. His eyes found me first, and he smiled sweetly.“Hey,” he whispered.“How are you feeling?” I asked.“Sleepy.”“Yeah, the drugs are wearing off slowly.”“Mmm, wonderful,” he murmured.Jackson’s parents moved closer, and I let them have a moment with him as I motioned for Roman to follow me out into the hallway. We stopped a little further away from the others.“I can’t believe they did this,” I said, my voice low but fierce.“How do you want to handle it?”“I want them in jail until they die! If I weren’t such a peaceful person, I would hunt them down myself and end them!”Roman smiled at me, a proud look on his face. Confused, I glanced at him.“What?” I asked.“I just never heard you speak about them like that before.”“Yeah, well, they haven’t tried to kill my mate before. Those bastards!”He nodded slightly. “I will m
-Jackson-I was on the ground, bleeding and completely beaten. I had fought before—had my fair share of bruises and close calls—but this felt personal. The pain was different. I wasn’t sure how many had attacked me, but the unmistakable scent of lycan filled the room, signaling that these were no ordinary wolves. I had managed to take down one of them, who now lay motionless not far from me, but the others loomed above, and I couldn’t understand why they had stopped kicking me.But suddenly, the door opened, and I saw polished shoes approaching. Straining to keep my eyes open, I let them wander up to see Daphne’s father standing before me.“You’ve caused me a lot of problems,” he accused.I tried to speak, but all I could do was cough up blood.“I need to have you removed so I can bring my daughter home.”Hadn’t he already tried to ruin her with those rumors? Why would he want to kill me now?“She… is… mine,” I croaked.“Not for long.”I watched in horror as one of the others handed hi
-Jackson-Daphne was initially scared as we began to dance, but when I asked her what it mattered what other people thought, something shifted in her. She started to enjoy our night. I led her through two dances before we finally joined the party and began to mingle. Not many people wanted to talk to us, but I knew some individuals would never be swayed. They thrived on drama and reveled in the rumors, but we wouldn’t let that bother us. Daphne and I were happy together, and nothing could ruin that.“I see my parents,” Daphne mumbled as she sipped her drink. After a while, we had retreated to the bar to enjoy some time together.“You want to talk to them now?” I inquired.I knew it was the smart move, but Daphne shook her head.“Not yet.”“Well, how about you wait here while I go to the bathroom for a moment, and then we can face them?” I suggested.“Yeah, let’s wait a little. I’ll be right here,” she assured me.I leaned closer and kissed her before downing my drink, then I walked awa
-Daphne-Jackson came up behind me as I stood in the closet, fully dressed. He kissed my neck, filling me with a sense of calm and security as I felt his powerful body pressed against mine. I let out a soft moan as he kissed the mark on my shoulder. My dress was sleeveless and strapless, and my hair was up, making it clear to everyone that I was taken. I knew this pleased my mate immensely. It was a silent statement to anyone who dared to approach me. I squeezed his hands on my stomach before turning around to face him.“You ready?” he asked.“Not really,” I admitted.“Why not?”“I’m so nervous. I’ve never stood up to them before.”He smiled softly and kissed me. “You’re not alone.”I smiled back, finally noticing how incredibly handsome he looked in a suit. I ran my hands down his arms and back up, and I knew he noticed the shift in me.“Like what you see?”“Very much,” I confessed.“You look amazing too,” he complimented, making me grin wider as warmth flushed my cheeks.“I love you,
-Jackson-Later in the evening, as rain began to pour, my family gathered in one of the living rooms. It was just my parents, Daphne, Ana, Roman, and me. We sipped drinks, munched on snacks, and chatted, and I genuinely enjoyed being there with them. I loved them all so much, and when I turned to look at my mate, I felt it in my heart too. I was falling for Daphne.“So, when are you heading home?” I asked Ana.“Oh, you want to get rid of me that fast, huh?” she teased. We all chuckled.“Just asking,” I replied.“No, you’re trying to kick me out,” she teased.I shook my head, but she finally turned serious. “No, we’re going home tomorrow to start setting everything up for the party.”“It’ll be the party from hell,” Daphne said.“No, it’ll be fine,” Roman assured her.“Is there anything special we should be prepared for?” my mother inquired.“Just that my family can be mean,” Daphne said.“We all need to be confident and relaxed,” Roman advised. “It wouldn’t surprise me if the rumors hav
-Daphne-Roman and I walked side by side outside. Jackson and Ana had decided to spend some time together after Roman asked if he could have a moment with me. I was grateful he had asked because I had missed my friend and needed his guidance.“So, how is it going?” Roman asked.“It’s… good,” I replied, searching for the right word. Even “good” couldn’t fully capture how wonderful I felt. When Roman noticed the smile on my lips, he began to smile too. “You look better.”“Better?” I echoed.“Taller,” he said.“Yeah, Jackson brings out something in me,” I admitted, feeling a rush of warmth at how my mate was transforming me for the better.“I wish I could have done more for you,” he said. “Being my queen was supposed to be your escape, but then Ana appeared, and you had to go home again.”“Roman, I don’t blame you for loving her,” I assured him.“No, but I feel bad that I couldn’t do more for you, that I allowed them to turn you into that person,” he confessed.“That person?” I questioned
