Chapter 133: My Vow

Evelyn’s POV

My hands were quivering and hovering, I breathed deeply, and I knew I had to assist myself because no one else would. I know Gideon so well that he wouldn't be so oblivious to Lucas's several arrivals in this cell.

What if he was trying to get to me through him? Maybe when I reveal where the crest is, he'll come over and take it from me. My father made me vow to protect the crest with my life, and I intend to do so. I don't mind dying in order to safeguard that crest.

When the door to the cell opened, my thoughts were startled, and I quickly reclined on the bed I was in, faking weakness; though I am weak, I am not as weak as I portray; I didn't want anybody to know the extent of my strength and use it against me.

Lucas entered the room, his brow furrowed, his stare scrutinizing, and I gulped down the lump that had formed in my throat. "How are you doing?" he asked, but I ignored him.
