KEENA

Orange flames begin to burst from my fingertips. My eyes flicker over to Kayla helplessly. I don't know how to control my magic and I don't want her to get hurt.

"Run," I command them both but my voice does not sound like my own.

Faris grabs Kayla by the arm and drags her from my bedroom just before the orange flames engulf my hands. Tears begin to stream down my face as the flames begin to travel up my arms.

"She needs help," I hear Kayla say from behind my brother. I watch helplessly as Faris holds Kayla back from trying to run back into the bedroom. "Someone help her," she screams at the top of her lungs.

Just as the flames begin to engulf my bed, Ward rushes in my room with a stunned look on his face.

"Why is she on fire?" Ward asks my brother and I can hear the panic in his voice. He tries to take a step in my direction but I shake my head and move farther back on the bed.

"Don't come any closer," I yell as I close my eyes and try to focus on the flames th

KEENAThe next morning is awkward to say the least. I usually ride to school with Faris but he didn't want to be seen with me and my new guard so he decided to leave without me this morning. When I realized that I was without a ride, Ward awkwardly cleared his throat and mentioned that he has a car. "That settles that," my father says with a grumble. "Just remember your position. You are to watch over my daughter and protect her... only those things." Ward nods his head and answers with a short, "Yes, Alpha." I place a kiss on my father's cheek before I leave for class. Ward walks out ahead of me and leads me to an older style mustang. I have never seen anything like it before. It looks like it has been restored to its former glory. I gently run my fingers along the beautiful blue paint job. Ward is watching me carefully with an unreadable expression on his face. "Do you like it? If you don't, I am sure we can find another car to take." "Are you kidding me!" I squ

JAREK I am sitting with the guys outside of the main building at the college, waiting for my first class to start. My phone buzzes in my pocket. My father's name flashes across the screen. Letting out an annoyed sigh, I press the ignore button. I have been avoiding his calls ever since the rogue attack on Lycan City. I know that he is probably concerned about me but I don't have time for one of his lectures. My phone buzzes again. Excusing myself from the guys I walk away so I am out of ear shot and I reluctantly answer the phone. "Hello, Dad," I groan. "Is that any way to greet your father?" My father responds harshly. "Hello, Father," I address him more formally. "That's better," he says with a chuckle. "I hear there was a little bit of a problem over there a few days ago. I am hoping that you proved yourself and didn't run away like a sissy." I breathe heavily into the phone. "No, Father. I fought alongside the prince and the king." "Atta boy," my fath

KEENAI try not to look at Jarek as we walk past but it is like my eyes are drawn to his. My eyes meet his hazel ones and I can practically see anger swirling all around him. I tighten my grip on Ward's arm as we walk into the school. Right now my knees are weak and he is the only thing holding me. Ward taps my hand with his and I look up into his eyes. Once again he has an unreadable look on his face. It is like every time he looks at me he wears a mask so I am unable to read his expression. I wonder what he is hiding from me. A tap on my shoulder drags my eyes away from Ward and I find my brother standing behind me with his arms crossed across his chest. "What?" I groan, it is too early for me to have to deal with being tormented. "I am here to speak to him," Faris says as he nods his head towards Ward. "I am not to leave the Princess's side," Ward says as Faris gestures for him to walk away from me."Anything you need to say you can say in front of me," I roll my eyes

KEENA"Don't touch what is mine," Jarek growls loudly and everyone in the hallway stops and stares at the scene that is unfolding in the middle of the hall. Jarek pulls back his fist again and hits Ward across the other side of his face. Blood begins to drip down Ward's lip and onto his blue t-shirt. Wiping the blood from his lip with the back of his hand, Ward looks at me and his eyes are swirling to black in anger. I know at any moment his lycan is going to come forward. With an open hand, Ward smacks Jarek across the face, dropping him to his knees. Jarek hops to his feet ready to fight back. Jarek lunges for Ward, knocking them both to the ground. Both of them are rolling around on the ground landing punches where they can. Suddenly, Chad comes over and pulls Ward off of Jarek. The two men step back from one another and glare at one another as they wipe the blood from their faces. Knowing I need to diffuse the situation, I step in between the two angry shifters an

JAREKI watch Keena and her fucking body guard from the door of the empty classroom. I can't hear what they are saying but I watch in horror as her body guard moves in closer to her and lifts her chin with his fingers. He gently rubs his fingers down her face. My fists ball up at my sides as I watch them together. It is obvious that they care for each other. "What's up?" A voice comes from behind me and I turn to see Chad approaching me. I unclench my fists from my sides and plaster a fake smile across my face. "Just watching this pathetic show," I gesture towards the classroom. Chad peeks in the window of the classroom door and busts out laughing. "That fucker is in for it when Faris finds out. As much as he pretends not to care, he is pretty protective of his sister." "Come on," I move him away from the classroom. I don't like the way that he is looking at my mate. "Let's get out of here before she sees us." "So," Chad says as we walk away. "Do you want to explain

KEENA Today wasn't the worst day I have had in a long time. The girls in my classes were actually nice to me and didn't whisper about me behind my back. Several people had asked if Ward was my new boyfriend. To which Ward responded gruffly to each one that it wasn't any of their business. Each time I could feel my face flush with embarrassment but the look in Ward's eyes told me not to object with what he said. So, I didn't. Now rumors are spreading throughout the school that the Princess has finally taken a boyfriend. Ward and I return home to my father standing on the front steps of the royal mansion with a very irritated look on his face. "Hi, Daddy," I say sweetly as I stand on my tiptoes to give him a kiss on the cheek. My father ignores me and looks straight at Ward. "I didn't know you would be taking my daughter to school in... that." He gestures towards Ward's mustang. "I am sorry, Your Highness. I didn't realize that you wouldn't approve of my car." Ward s

  • The Lycan King's Rejected Daughter   Chapter 16

WARDI am proudly showing King Erebus my car when an ear piercing scream reaches us from inside of the royal mansion. I know that voice, it can only be Keena. "Keena," I gasp out and I leave the King standing beside my car stunned. As I run into the royal mansion I can hear his heavy footsteps running quickly behind me. We burst through the door of the mansion and try to locate the origin of the screams. "The basement," I murmur as I head towards the basement door. I throw the basement door open and a blast of wind hits me in the face. I fight my way down the stairs and am stunned at the scene that is laid out before me. An elderly woman is fighting off bursts of blue flames that are bouncing off of the walls and the Queen is trying her best to walk through the flames and wind to get to Keena. Huddled on the ground, Keena's body is covered in blue flames. She screams out in pain as the flames burn and engulf her body. The Queen is yelling over the wind for Keena to cont

  • The Lycan King's Rejected Daughter   Chapter 17

KEENA The hushed sound of voices rushes through my head causing me to wake from my sleep. "Her powers are too strong," Sister Edith states. "She needs to go to a coven to be trained." "I wasn't trained at a coven," my mother chimes in. "And your powers are mediocre at best," Sister Edith's voice is becoming louder as she speaks. My mother cackles loudly and my eyes fly open. "Mediocre," she laughs loudly. "Sister Edith, you have always been funny." I can hear Sister Edith slam the end of her cane up against the floor of my room. "Mark my words," she says as she hobbles out of my bedroom. "The strength of the magic she carries does not match the strength within. She will never be able to harness her powers." "She will learn," my mother calls after Sister Edith but Edith does not answer my mother. She merely continues her way out of my room. "Mom," I try to call out to her but my voice is hoarse. My mother turns to look at me and is at my side in a moment.

  • The Lycan King's Rejected Daughter   Book 2: Chapter 81

Willow POV Faris's body floats to the middle of Lycan City Lake, just like his father before him and his grandfather before that. Horns play loudly, signifying the beginning of the lighting ceremony. I watch from a distance as the leader of the Royal Guard raises his hand in the air, and three archers light the tips of their arrows with flames. The leader lowers his hand, and the arrows fly into the air before hitting their mark. As Faris's body is engulfed in flames, I find myself shedding a tear. Not for the man Faris was at the end of his life, but for the man he was before I became his assassin. The uncle who would sneak me out of my house with his mate and feed me ice cream before dinner. The uncle who never missed a school event and treated me like his own flesh and blood even though I was not. Liz pulls at my black dress and looks up at me with her bright green eyes. "Are you okay?" She whispers, pulling my attention away from the end of my uncle's ceremony. "I'm

Willow POV As I watch Endora’s ashes fly away, the runes on my back begin to burn. It feels like someone has poured salt on an open wound. I drop to my knees and claw at my skin through my shirt. My mother and Cordelia rush to my side, ripping my shirt off my body. I look at the runes on my arms, and they are glowing bright red. “What is happening?” I cry out in pain. “Since Endora has been killed, your link to the Coven of the Lunar Star is broken,” Cordelia tries to smile even though I am in pain. “The magical bindings they put on your skin are breaking down.” “They are disappearing?” I ask as I attempt to get to my feet, but my knees buckle under my weight. Exhaustion has finally caught up with me. Wincing through the pain, I look at Faris lying beside me. His face looks peaceful like he is sleeping. I look around me, and all of the fighting has stopped. Faris’s Royal guards must have felt this tether to the pack break when he died. Now they are all on bended knee

Willow POV My two-hour training session turned into five hours. By the time Cordelia is done with me, my arms feel like jello. My feet drag as I walk from the training area back to the farmhouse. I am exhausted, and I cannot wait to crawl into bed for a few hours before Osiris wakes me. As I approach the farmhouse, my heart sinks. A group of rogue warriors is already gathered outside of the farmhouse. Osiris is standing on the porch giving them a speech. When he sees me, he raises his hand and gestures for me to join him. Mumbling obscenities under my breath as I approach Osiris, I realize I am not getting my nap. Plastering a fake smile on my face, I stand beside Osiris. Osiris wraps his arm around my waist and pulls me in close to him. My fake smile turns into a real one as I feel the tingles of the mate bond spread throughout my skin. Osiris's shoulders relax as I nuzzle into his side. He wraps his arm tightly around my waist and continues his speech. "We were att

Faris POV I leave Natacha sleeping in my bed. Her new mark shimmers under the morning light shining into the room. I had expected her mark to match the one I had given Kayla, but it is different. A beautiful rose blooming under a full moon now resides on her neck. Natacha had been more than willing to accept my mark. The lovemaking between us had been patient and gentle. I was worried about hurting the pup that grows within her. But when it came time for Natacha to mark me in return, I couldn't let it happen. It felt too much like I was replacing Kayla. Natacha pretended she understood, but I could feel her pain through the bond between us. She was disappointed. Pulling on a pair of sweats and a t-shirt, I head into the office that adjoins my bedroom. Sitting down at my desk, I begin to make plans on when and how to attack the rogue camp. But my heart isn't in it. Now that I know I have an heir, nothing else seems to matter. It all feels petty. "Why shouldn't I let

Willow POV After much negotiation with the doctor, he finally agrees to let me leave the hospital. The wound on my neck is almost healed. I have not been brave enough to look at it. I don't want to see the damage that Osiris has done to me. After taking a shower in the tiny hospital bathroom, I open the bag of clothes that Osiris brought me from the farmhouse. I roll my eyes when I see a pair of bright red lace panties and a matching bra. Sticking my head out of the bathroom, I hiss at Osiris. "You couldn't have brought something more comfortable?" There is a mischievous grin on his face. "They looked comfortable to me," he chuckles. I shut the door in frustration, and I begin to pull on the leather pants and black t-shirt. I pull my hair up into a ponytail and walk back out into the hospital room. But there is no one in there. I peek out of my hospital room and see nurses and doctors frantically running toward the entrance of the hospital. I can hear the sounds of

Faris POV It is the wee hours of the morning when I finally return to the royal mansion, but the mansion is already buzzing with activity. I quietly slip past all of the Omegas who have already started their morning chores. I go upstairs and past the room that Natacha is staying in. Her scent of lavender and roses is wafting through the door. She barely smells like a rogue anymore, and I wonder if it is because she is carrying my child. Slowly, I turn the doorknob, and I am surprised to find it is unlocked. The door opens with a slight creek, causing me to cringe. I consider walking away, but curiosity draws me further into her room. Natacha is sleeping peacefully. I have to admit she is beautiful. Not as beautiful as my Kayla, but still beautiful nonetheless. Tiny puffs of breath leave her full lips as she sleeps. She is sleeping in an oversized t-shirt. A smile crosses my lips when I realize the t-shirt is one I had left behind at her apartment. The t-shirt has ridd

Osiris POV Ella grabs my hand and teleports back to the hospital. The wind swirls in the sky as the witch sisters appear out of nowhere beside us. I am unsteady on my feet as the world comes back into focus. "I don't think I will ever get used to that," I grumble as I choke back the vomit rising in my throat. "You will get used to it over time," Ella says as she gently rubs my back. I shrug off Ella's hand and turn to the four witches. "We don't have time to lose," I say. "We need to get to Willow." Once I have regained my balance, I head into the hospital with the witches following behind me. As we walk through the halls, people scatter away from me and the women walking with me. Whispers follow us through the corridors. Many of my pack members have not seen so many witches together in one place, and their eyes follow us as we make our way to Willow's hospital room. As we approach Willow's room, the doctor is waiting for us. He looks the witches up and down before o

Faris POV Natacha follows me into the royal mansion, keeping her head down. As we walk through the mansion, I can hear the whispers coming from the Omega servants. They are wondering why I have willingly brought a rogue into Lycan City. My personal Omega, Jessica, is leaving my bedroom when I reach the top floor of the royal mansion. Her face blushes deeply when she looks at me but quickly disappears when she lays eyes on Natacha. Jessica's nose wrinkles as she catches Natacha's rogue scent, and a scowl tugs at her lips. "How can I help you, Your Highness?" Jessica says with a fake smile spread across her face. "This is my close friend, Natacha. I need you to set her up in the room next to mine," I instruct Jessica. Jessica doesn't try to hide her displeasure at the thought of a rogue staying within the royal mansion, but still, she gestures for Natacha to follow her down the hall. Natacha hesitates to follow the young Omega. "Are you coming with me?" She asks nervou
