KEENAThe room where I am being held captive smells heavily of urine and blood. I have given up all hope that someone is coming to rescue me. My parents probably assume that I left for Egypt without my new bodyguard and Ward is still being held captive in Cairo. If I am going to get out of here alive, I am going to have to do it myself. I begin to formulate a plan. I have been mentally taking notes for the past few days. Or at least I assume that it has been days. The High Priestess only comes to visit me once a day, digging her knife into different parts of my body demanding that I teach her the secrets of the amulet. Secrets that I don’t know. After she comes to visit a small witch comes in to clean my wounds and force-feeds me bread and water. The first couple of days I tried to resist the food and water. I just wanted to wither away to nothing. What I didn’t realize was that the little witch had the ability to compel others. It didn’t matter how hard I tried to fight h
KEENAThe fog of the compulsion lifts from my mind and the little witch stares at me in shock. I finally take the time to really look at the witch that has been compelling me. She has bright red hair and dark brown eyes. Her face is round and lacks the maturity of age. I don’t think that she could be more than fifteen or sixteen years old.“How old are you?” I ask the little witch in front of me. “I just turned sixteen,” she tells me but she refuses to look me in the eyes. “What is your name?” I cock my head to the side and study her carefully. I can tell that she is confused by what I told her while under her compulsion. It is clearly the opposite of what the High Priestess has been telling her. “I should go,” she says quickly as she gets to her feet. “Wait,” I call out after her. “Please don’t leave me alone in here.” “I have already stayed too long,” the little witch says quickly. “The High Priestess will be waiting on me.” “Tell her that I was difficult,” I try
KEENA Opening my eyes I let out a groan. The darkness of the void encompasses me once again. Frustration flows through my body. I don’t want to be here. Lying on my back I stare up at the darkness and scream. “Why am I here again?!” I kick my legs back and forth like a toddler throwing a tantrum. As I kick my legs I can hear the voices of the void hissing with laughter. I plug my fingers in my ears to drown out the laughter and I yell gibberish loudly. I close my eyes tightly and try to drown out the voices of the void. Suddenly the sounds of the void are quiet and I am surrounded by the familiar chatter of students. My eyes fly open and I look around and find myself outside of the high school in Lycan City. I see Kayla’s bouncing blonde hair running toward the front door of the school. That’s when I see myself. Standing in my best dress outside of the high school with a worried look on my face. Slowly I approach myself. I know what day this is. It is the f
WARD After much argument about me going alone, I finally convinced Lyra, her mates, and Emerson to show me where the old coven house is. Emerson and James insisted on going with me even though I assured them that I would be fine on my own. We step out of the pack house and begin to strip on the front porch. Lyra stands with her arms crossed over her chest and openly watches James strip down to his boxers. Before he is able to shift into his wolf, she grabs him by the back of his head and plants a passionate kiss on his lips. “Come back to me,” she whispers next to his ear. “Always,” he says as he rests his forehead against her own. Breaking away from their embrace. James jumps off the porch and in mid-air, shifts into his massive brown wolf. Shaking out his fur he whimpers loudly for Emerson and me to join him. Without hesitation, Emerson shifts into his majestic black wolf. He nips playfully at his father’s tail while he waits for me to shift. Both James’s and
WARDI don’t want to startle the little witch that I caught out of the corner of my eye. I keep my eyes focused on James laying on the ground. “Do you see what I see?” I mumble under my breath as I kneel beside James. I want James to be discreet but he doesn’t catch the hint. He peeks around me and his eyes widen. “Hey!” He yells out to the little red-headed witch. “Can you help us get out of here?” Emerson and I both hide our heads in our hands and groan in frustration. “Don’t scare her off,” I say under my breath. “She is the only chance we have,” James says loudly. “Plus she looks harmless.” “Have you ever met a witch?” Emerson growls at his father. “They all look harmless.” The little red-headed witch comes out from behind the doorway and stands out in the open. Her red hair is messy on top of her head. It doesn’t look like it has been brushed in weeks. Curly tendrils frame her face delicately. She looks like she could be no older than fifteen or sixteen.
WARD Gently I lay Keena on the ground at James’s feet. “Get her out of here,” I tell him. The High Priestess begins to cackle loudly. “You will never make it out of here,” she laughs. “Evette,” she says as she turns to the little witch. “Compel them.” The little witch takes a step back away from the High Priestess and shakes her head no. “I refuse to help you any longer.” “Evette,” the High Priestess’s voice is threatening. “You are making a mistake.” “You lied to me,” Evette screams in her direction. “You said that the Princess was hiding her powers when she had none.” “Can you not feel the power radiating off of her,” the High Priestess exclaims. “When she wakes she will be the most powerful witch on Earth. What makes you think that she will want to return to Lycan City where she was shunned.” I look over at Keena laying on the floor. James is gently stroking her hair, trying to wake her from her slumber. “What have you done?” I snarl at the High Pries
KEENA Tingles and electricity spread across my skin and I know that I am in the arms of my mate. My eyes flutter open and I see Ward staring down at me with a concerned look on his face. “None of these doors lead to the outside,” I hear someone yell from behind Ward. “Perhaps we need to go to another level.” “There isn’t any time,” Ward yells over his shoulder. “This place is going to fall down around us.” I lift my head up and see the walls around us cracking. The sunlight is beginning to peak through the cracks that are forming in the walls. “What is going on?” I ask as I fight to get out of Ward’s arms. “I killed the High Priestess,” Ward says but there is no pride in his voice. Only panic. “We can’t find our way out of this coven. “I can find our way out,” I spit out. “Where is Evette?” “Evette is gone,” Ward says sadly. “The High Priestess killed her.” A smile spreads across my lips and evil thoughts intrude my mind. “I am the last one left,” I mur
KEENAWard wraps me in his arms to soothe the pain of the new magic rushing through my veins. “It hurts,” I whisper as I nuzzle my nose into Ward’s chest. “I know,” he says as he inhales my scent from my hair. “But James and Emerson are going to get Lyra and she is going to fix this.” I can hear the sounds of the army from outside. They are making sure that there are no more witches hiding in the forest around the coven house. But I know that they are all gone. If there were still witches here I would be able to feel their power. It is as if I can feel everything. I can feel all of Ward’s emotions as if they were my own. As the army members glance in the door of the coven house I can see the concerned looks on their faces. I can feel their unsure emotions drifting through the air, hitting me in the chest. I bury my face in Ward’s chest once again trying to block out the outside world. It is all too much; the looks the emotions, the uncertainty. “Ward?” I lift my chi

Willow POV Faris's body floats to the middle of Lycan City Lake, just like his father before him and his grandfather before that. Horns play loudly, signifying the beginning of the lighting ceremony. I watch from a distance as the leader of the Royal Guard raises his hand in the air, and three archers light the tips of their arrows with flames. The leader lowers his hand, and the arrows fly into the air before hitting their mark. As Faris's body is engulfed in flames, I find myself shedding a tear. Not for the man Faris was at the end of his life, but for the man he was before I became his assassin. The uncle who would sneak me out of my house with his mate and feed me ice cream before dinner. The uncle who never missed a school event and treated me like his own flesh and blood even though I was not. Liz pulls at my black dress and looks up at me with her bright green eyes. "Are you okay?" She whispers, pulling my attention away from the end of my uncle's ceremony. "I'm
Willow POV As I watch Endora’s ashes fly away, the runes on my back begin to burn. It feels like someone has poured salt on an open wound. I drop to my knees and claw at my skin through my shirt. My mother and Cordelia rush to my side, ripping my shirt off my body. I look at the runes on my arms, and they are glowing bright red. “What is happening?” I cry out in pain. “Since Endora has been killed, your link to the Coven of the Lunar Star is broken,” Cordelia tries to smile even though I am in pain. “The magical bindings they put on your skin are breaking down.” “They are disappearing?” I ask as I attempt to get to my feet, but my knees buckle under my weight. Exhaustion has finally caught up with me. Wincing through the pain, I look at Faris lying beside me. His face looks peaceful like he is sleeping. I look around me, and all of the fighting has stopped. Faris’s Royal guards must have felt this tether to the pack break when he died. Now they are all on bended knee
Willow POV My two-hour training session turned into five hours. By the time Cordelia is done with me, my arms feel like jello. My feet drag as I walk from the training area back to the farmhouse. I am exhausted, and I cannot wait to crawl into bed for a few hours before Osiris wakes me. As I approach the farmhouse, my heart sinks. A group of rogue warriors is already gathered outside of the farmhouse. Osiris is standing on the porch giving them a speech. When he sees me, he raises his hand and gestures for me to join him. Mumbling obscenities under my breath as I approach Osiris, I realize I am not getting my nap. Plastering a fake smile on my face, I stand beside Osiris. Osiris wraps his arm around my waist and pulls me in close to him. My fake smile turns into a real one as I feel the tingles of the mate bond spread throughout my skin. Osiris's shoulders relax as I nuzzle into his side. He wraps his arm tightly around my waist and continues his speech. "We were att
Faris POV I leave Natacha sleeping in my bed. Her new mark shimmers under the morning light shining into the room. I had expected her mark to match the one I had given Kayla, but it is different. A beautiful rose blooming under a full moon now resides on her neck. Natacha had been more than willing to accept my mark. The lovemaking between us had been patient and gentle. I was worried about hurting the pup that grows within her. But when it came time for Natacha to mark me in return, I couldn't let it happen. It felt too much like I was replacing Kayla. Natacha pretended she understood, but I could feel her pain through the bond between us. She was disappointed. Pulling on a pair of sweats and a t-shirt, I head into the office that adjoins my bedroom. Sitting down at my desk, I begin to make plans on when and how to attack the rogue camp. But my heart isn't in it. Now that I know I have an heir, nothing else seems to matter. It all feels petty. "Why shouldn't I let
Willow POV After much negotiation with the doctor, he finally agrees to let me leave the hospital. The wound on my neck is almost healed. I have not been brave enough to look at it. I don't want to see the damage that Osiris has done to me. After taking a shower in the tiny hospital bathroom, I open the bag of clothes that Osiris brought me from the farmhouse. I roll my eyes when I see a pair of bright red lace panties and a matching bra. Sticking my head out of the bathroom, I hiss at Osiris. "You couldn't have brought something more comfortable?" There is a mischievous grin on his face. "They looked comfortable to me," he chuckles. I shut the door in frustration, and I begin to pull on the leather pants and black t-shirt. I pull my hair up into a ponytail and walk back out into the hospital room. But there is no one in there. I peek out of my hospital room and see nurses and doctors frantically running toward the entrance of the hospital. I can hear the sounds of
Faris POV It is the wee hours of the morning when I finally return to the royal mansion, but the mansion is already buzzing with activity. I quietly slip past all of the Omegas who have already started their morning chores. I go upstairs and past the room that Natacha is staying in. Her scent of lavender and roses is wafting through the door. She barely smells like a rogue anymore, and I wonder if it is because she is carrying my child. Slowly, I turn the doorknob, and I am surprised to find it is unlocked. The door opens with a slight creek, causing me to cringe. I consider walking away, but curiosity draws me further into her room. Natacha is sleeping peacefully. I have to admit she is beautiful. Not as beautiful as my Kayla, but still beautiful nonetheless. Tiny puffs of breath leave her full lips as she sleeps. She is sleeping in an oversized t-shirt. A smile crosses my lips when I realize the t-shirt is one I had left behind at her apartment. The t-shirt has ridd
Osiris POV Ella grabs my hand and teleports back to the hospital. The wind swirls in the sky as the witch sisters appear out of nowhere beside us. I am unsteady on my feet as the world comes back into focus. "I don't think I will ever get used to that," I grumble as I choke back the vomit rising in my throat. "You will get used to it over time," Ella says as she gently rubs my back. I shrug off Ella's hand and turn to the four witches. "We don't have time to lose," I say. "We need to get to Willow." Once I have regained my balance, I head into the hospital with the witches following behind me. As we walk through the halls, people scatter away from me and the women walking with me. Whispers follow us through the corridors. Many of my pack members have not seen so many witches together in one place, and their eyes follow us as we make our way to Willow's hospital room. As we approach Willow's room, the doctor is waiting for us. He looks the witches up and down before o
Faris POV Natacha follows me into the royal mansion, keeping her head down. As we walk through the mansion, I can hear the whispers coming from the Omega servants. They are wondering why I have willingly brought a rogue into Lycan City. My personal Omega, Jessica, is leaving my bedroom when I reach the top floor of the royal mansion. Her face blushes deeply when she looks at me but quickly disappears when she lays eyes on Natacha. Jessica's nose wrinkles as she catches Natacha's rogue scent, and a scowl tugs at her lips. "How can I help you, Your Highness?" Jessica says with a fake smile spread across her face. "This is my close friend, Natacha. I need you to set her up in the room next to mine," I instruct Jessica. Jessica doesn't try to hide her displeasure at the thought of a rogue staying within the royal mansion, but still, she gestures for Natacha to follow her down the hall. Natacha hesitates to follow the young Omega. "Are you coming with me?" She asks nervou
