Chapter 3 : The Lycan King's Concubine

last update Last Updated: 2023-02-20 20:11:05

I could not help but feel a bit of hatred for my father and mother after I heard the truth. It felt so heavy to carry, that I couldn’t look at them in the eye after that. It affected me a lot. I felt like I was thrown away. Like my value had diminish, and that being the Lycan King’s concubine was my last purpose.

It felt surreal. I was even denial. But as the day passed, and the schedule of the inauguration came, I couldn’t do anything but grasp at the horrifying truth that I no matter what I do, the nightmare had already became my reality, and that the only way to escape it was to live through it.

It sucked. Especially when I finally had to come with the Lycans and leave the pack I grew up in. It was suffocating. But what probably hurts the most is the aftermath. That afterwards, I’d try to survive in a place where I knew no one, whilst their lives would remain the same.

“I heard you fought with your parents yesterday.” Declan spoke to break the silence. “Did he really not tell you the truth?”

“I wouldn’t have reacted that way if he did,” I responded blatantly.

I was kind to him the first time because I believed in my father. I knew we had to gain his trust within five years, and for that, I’ll have to behave. But it was forfeited. After what happened, I decided I would no longer act like I was supposed to. This was the only thing I could do to release what I was feeling.

“I see. Then, may I ask if you have a mate?”

“He would’ve appeared before you if I had.” Wolves were territorial. Not to mention the mate bonds, that strongly enhanced our emotions for our partner. If I had a mate, he definitely would not allow this to happen.

I’d have more reason to hate him, then.

‘But he’s handsome, Eve. You have to admit,’ Lexi commented.

‘Oh shut up. He’s married.’ I replied.

“Good…” He said in a low tone. “That would make things easier. Can we set a schedule this week?”

I turned to him. “Schedule for what?”

“I need you to have my baby, Eve. For that, we’ll have to create a schedule.”

I could not believe how he sounded so calm, and natural. Was impregnating women normal to him?

“Does your wife even know about this?” I asked, a little upset. “Will she even approve?”

“You don’t need to know about that.” His tone changed a bit. It became a little… fierce. “Your only role is to serve and satisfy me, Eve.”

Serve and satisfy…

Can’t his wife satistfy him?

“You can set the date.” My jaw thickened. “But we only have to do it once a week—”

“You don’t have a right to make demands, Eve.” Declan’s eyes pierced me. “We’ll do it whenever I have time.”

“Whenever you have time?” My brows met. “What am I, a pig?”

“Language, Miss Lamperogue.”

I bit my tongue for a minute to suppress myself. “I am your mistress, your Majesty. I believe I should at least have a say on our schedule.”

“That isn’t in the agreement.”

“Our schedule isn’t in the agreement either.” I countered. “Your Majesty, I suggest we only do it once a week.”

“Fine…” His lips pursed. “Twice a week.”

Twice a week?

‘Just fucking accept it, Eve. You’re even lucky he’s willing to reconsider.’ Lexi asserted.

Lucky? I was STILL lucky at this state? I snorted and rolled my eyes. “Fine.”

Declan’s eyes continued to stare at me. I ignored him, and looked outside the carriage. We still have plenty of time left before we could arrive to their territory, so I decided to use that time to get a sleep. Though it was a little hard at first because I could feel his gaze, the silence helped.

I only woke up when I felt a hand tapping my shoulder. When I opened my eyes, Declan was already gone. The carriage have stopped, too. What I saw on my side was a woman I immediately recognized as someone who was the same age as me. She smelled like a Lycan.

No. This place was reeking of Lycans.

“Who are you?” I asked as I sat properly. “Where is Your Majesty?”

“I do not know, Miss Eve. But I was told to wake you up after the meals are ready. “ She smiled politely at me. “I’m Lilienne, Miss Eve. Your assigned servant..”

A servant. So Declan appointed one for me.

“I’m not hungry, Lilienne. Take me to my chamber.” I said with in monotone, as I gave her my hand to ask for support.

Lilienne helped me get out the carriage. It was in front of the big mansion I believed was Declan’s. I looked around. But just as I thought there would be people swarming out around me, there was no one.

Which I found odd. When we came here to accept the treaty, the Lycans were all over the place, why weren’t there any now? I was expecting for a crowd.

‘The Lycan King probably forbid them to see you,’ said Lexi.

My brows furrowed. ‘Why would he do that for me?’

“You should eat, Miss Eve. The Lycan King strictly ordered me not to take you to your room unless you eat.”

“Then, let me eat inside my room.”

“I cannot do that.”

My shoulders slumped down. Right, this was his territory.

“Take me to the dining area.”

Lilienne nodded at me. It was only then she moved ahead to lead the way. She opened the door for me, and took me inside. But what awaits me in the kitchen wasn’t only the food, but all of the King’s servants as well. Includig the cook, guards, and some of his betas that I supposed were also living in this mansion for extra protection. They introduced themselves, and offered their assistance to me.

Probably what their King told them to do the second I arrive.

I couldn’t remember all their names, but they were nice so I acted civil.

“Your Majesty bought you set of clothes, shoes, and jewelries, Miss Eve. Would you want to see because we go to your chamber?” Lilienne asked after I finished my meal.

He brought me stuff? My brows puckered.

“Take them to my chamber. I’ll see it,” I told Liliene, before I turned my back on the table.

I was about to let Lilienne take me to my assigned room, when I came across a woman wearing a yellow victorian dress, with pearl necklace and earrings.

“Genevieve Lamperogue. The one my husband bought from the Gibbous Pack, I suppose?” She asked, looking at me maliciously with a fan on her right hand.

'Shift!' Lexi shouted, as I was on my knees, hiding myself behind the bed. It was a direct command. Thus, I transmuted at will. I closed my eyes shut, as I felt the size of my arms and legs growing bigger. My body rocked as my head turned up.Lexi roared. "Who is it?"The whole place was reeking with Lycans. It was a scent I have started to become familiar with, since this was their territory. That said, I couldn't pinpoint its location. Even if I were to follow the smell through the window, it would be useless because I could sense ten of them.

"Did you enjoy it?" Declan asked as I was gazing out the window. It was nightfall. We only have been on this carriage for 1 hour or so, and I wasn't sleepy at all. Maybe because I rested before we left. Or maybe because the night sky was just so beautiful I find it shameful to just sleep on it.My head turned to Declan, before I looked at him. "Yes. Very much.""The Lycans from the other continent are nice, weren't they?""Nicer than the ones in your Kingdom, yes," I said as a matter of fact. "They never even asked why you brought me there."

"Your Majesty is looking for you.." Leonardo said the moment he stepped in. "I believe it's because you refused to eat with him twice in a row now."My brows furrowed. Then I stood up from my seat. "Leonardo? You're here?"He was fired yesterday. How was he here? No... he came back? Did Declan bring him back because I was against it? "Your Majesty brought me back to my post.." He smiled. "He draw lines, though."I smiled. Then I walked towards him. "I'm glad he did... I'm sorry though. It was my fault—""Please, do not feel sorry. It was my fault for upsetting the King."
