‘I told you, Lexi. He will not listen!’ I mentally complained.

“Declan, can you atleast postpone the announcement?” I asked, desperate. “Your decision to strip off the Queen’s power and authories are too sudden, and if I, a mere wolf, is to replace her, then it would surely—”

“I will handle everything.” Declan stood up. “Just get to the point. What is it you’re worried about?”

“Your likes, Declan.” My knuckles folded. “I am only here to be your mistress. Being murdered here isn’t part of the agreement! Did you know how scared I was when I found out a woman before me was killed for being chosen as your baby carrier? You didn’t even bring that up to my father!”

“Lower down your voice.” Declan’s eyes remained fixated on me. His gaze became firm. “I removed Devra’s authority to save you, and I am giving you the power to protect yourself even without my presence. What more do you need?”
