“Is she okay?” I asked the man who shrugged. He didn’t know. I was a bit disappointed that he would not know about her but he would know about the wolves' conditions. “And the wolves?”

“They have broken bones which are healing slowly,” he answered, confirming my suspicions that he was not on the witches' side. If that was the case then I knew where to fall into.

The witches had no one to fight for them but me. Instead of me handling this mess how he was handling it, I would handle it in a different direction.

“I’m going to bed,” I said, turning away from him to sleep.

“Is something wrong?” he asked, sensing the hostility I was sending his way.

“You must have asked the people about the injured wolves but you didn’t even ask for indigo. You didn’t ask if she was okay or not.”
