Chloe’s POV
"Wake up, sleepy head! Don't you know you have a lot to do?" She shouted, her tone sharp and unforgiving. "Why are you still sleeping like an animal?"
I scrambled to my feet, water dripping down my face as I hurriedly apologized. Mrs. Parker's scowl deepened, her eyes boring into mine with disdain.
"You're useless," she spat. "Always sleeping, always lazy. You'll never amount to anything."
I felt embarrassed at her words.
Without another word, I rushed out of the room, my clothes clinging to my damp skin. I couldn’t even feel humiliated because I was already used to this attitude. Throughout the day,I worked my ass out, so I was way tired.
I ran towards the palace throne room to start cleaning.
At twenty now, most girls my age spend their time dreaming of their future mates. They had friends. They dressed up, went to parties, and chilled out. But my case is different.
I had no friends, no family, and no dreams for the future.
I don’t even know who my family was, as I grew up in the palace as a low-life Omega slave.
My misery didn’t end with a lack of friends, but it was said that since I had a weak wolf named Layla, I could never have a mate.
I have no idea why the world hates me this much. What did I do to deserve all this?
I had only one hope...
Every night, I prayed that tomorrow would be the day—the day I would finally meet my mate.
Finally, I would have someone else to call my own. A man who would love me and get me out of this hell hole.
My heart broke at the thought.
I swiped away the tears that fell down my cheeks. I knew I wasn’t good enough to have a mate, but surely the Moon Goddess didn’t hate me so much as to deny me a mate!
*******
I was responsible for cleaning the suites in the packhouse, but I still had two more to finish.
Mrs. Parker, the palace maintenance warden, was adamant, as she made sure that I always did my work.
Perhaps it didn’t matter; I sighed. It wasn’t like I had anything else to do or anyone to see.
As I scrubbed the floors of the packhouse suites, I noticed Amelia walking into the packhouse with her chief maidservant. Amelia was the supposed next Luna of the Pack, as she was betrothed to Mason, the heir apparent.
The ground was still a bit wet from my cleaning, and Amelia decided who I didn’t say anything to to cause trouble.
Amelia deliberately stepped onto the wet area, with her shoe footprints everywhere.
Before I could react, Amelia found out that the hem of her dress had gotten wet.
"You!" she exclaimed, pointing accusatorily at me. "Look what you've done! You've ruined my dress!"
I was taken aback by her sudden outburst, my heart pounding with fear. "I'm sorry, Your Highness," I stammered, trying to explain that I didn’t do anything.
But before I could finish my sentence, Amelia’s hand came crashing down on my cheek with a sharp slap. The sting was immediate, and I could feel tears welling up in my eyes.
I cried out, my voice trembling with emotion. "I didn't stain your..."
"Please, Your Highness, this is all just a misunderstanding. I really don’t want us to have issues," I pleaded, even as I tried to stand my ground against Amelia for once.
But Amelia only grew angrier. "How dare you try to talk back to me?" she snapped, her eyes spitting fire. "You're nothing but a lowly Omega. Know your place!"
Before I could respond, Mason entered the room. His expression was straight as he surveyed the room. "What's going on here?" he demanded, his voice way deep and loud.
Amelia wasted no time in twisting the truth. "Babbbbby, this pathetic Omega raised her voice at me," she claimed.
Mason's eyes twitched in disbelief.
"What?” his voice boomed with anger. "Are you out of your mind?" He turned to me, his gaze piercing my soul.
"Chloe, or whatever they call you, how dare you raise your hand on my queen? Who do you think you are? You pathetic being!"
"But I didn't—" I tried to explain, but Mason's hand came crashing down on my face before I could finish. The force of the slap sent me straight to the ground, pain shooting through my cheek.
"You pathetic being," he scolded, his eyes blazing with anger. "You will never dare raise your voice against my princess in this palace again. Understand?"
Tears welled up in my eyes as I nodded, too afraid to speak. Amelia stood by; she wore this happy look as she
Mason turned to Amelia. "Don’t worry, she won’t touch you again. I have a meeting to attend right now." Mason said.
"I pray she doesn't, baby," Amelia replied even as she carried those baby-faced eyes, as if she were really sad. "Don’t be long, babe; I will be in my room, love."
“I won't, baby," Maison said even as he kissed Amelia and then walked out, leaving Amelia, her maid, and me.
Without thinking, Amelia kicked the bucket of water beside me, pouring the contents on me that were already on the ground and soaking me once again.
Hissing, Amelia walked away and left the room with her maid in tow.
Fuming with anger, I struggled to pick myself up from the ground, the wetness seeping into my clothes. "Why does it always have to be me?" I muttered under my breath, frustration bubbling within me.
"Godddddd. I hate Mason and Amelia," I exclaimed, my voice trembling with resentment. "Why would he side with his spoilt so-called Luna?"
I let out a sigh of defeat. "There's nothing I can do about any of this," I muttered, my voice resigned, as I picked up the bucket.
After cleaning for over an hour, I finally finished. I was so tired that I could barely walk straight. "I really need to rest," I said to myself, knowing that this evening was going to be incredibly stressful as I would be serving a whole lot of guests. Taking a little rest now would be very helpful.
I could feel my wolf, Layla, screaming in her tiny voice inside me. She, too, was weak and weary.
Walking towards the door of the packhouse, I heard noises. Out of curiosity, I looked through the windows and saw a whole lot of people downstairs in the yard.
"Why are the guests already here?" I said, feeling shocked.
I thought the ceremony was slated for the next day. I planned on catching a little sleep before they started arriving.
"We need rest," Layla, my inner wolf, said, echoing my thoughts as she was just as weak as I was.
Walking back to my room, I suddenly picked up a scent. This scent was new, something I had never experienced before. Suddenly, Layla started shouting, "Mate! Mate! Mate!"
"Mate?" I said it aloud, puzzled. "How is that even possible?"
Chloe’s POVAs I walked towards my room, trying to shake off the persistent scent and Layla’s chants of "Mate! Mate! Mate!" I was still surprised Layla was feeling this way, because it was all strange.A mate? It seemed so unreal, especially at this point where it has been said I can’t have a mate. But Layla didn’t look like she was going to back down."Layla, please," I whispered, my voice strained with exhaustion and frustration. "Not now. I can't deal with this right now. I need rest."But Layla kept on shouting, her voice echoing in my head. "Mate! We need to find our mate!"I sighed heavily, rubbing my temples in an attempt to reduce the rising headache Layla was starting to give me.It's just my fantasy playing tricks on me.Would I say my mate is one of the guests I saw downstairs from other packs? All the guests here are of royal blood. How do you expect my friend to be one of these people? I’m just an Omega.Besides, who would want a mate like me? A mere servant in this pack,
Chloe’s POVI raised an eyebrow, even though I was already way tipsy. "You think I'm going to dance with you now?" I was skeptical. But Aiden just grinned. "Hey, you never know. It could be fun. Come on."I hesitated, unsure. "I don't know..."Aiden reached out his hand, smiling warmly. "Just one dance, Chloe. What do you say?"Thinking it over, I finally gave in. "Fine, but don’t have any funny ideas," I warned, taking his hand reluctantly.Aiden chuckled, still charming as ever. "I wouldn't dream of it. Let's go have some fun," he said, leading me to the dance floor. As we got to the dance floor, I was already way tipsy, as I could feel the room spinning, but I still wanted to dance. I didn’t know where I got the energy from, though.I surveyed the dance area. I wanted to twerk. I knew I wasn’t good at it, but I guess that drink was ready to do exactly what I wanted.I was shaking my butt, and I could feel eyes on me again. For some reason, this time was different; the gaze on me ac
Chloe’s POVThe mating ceremony was one of the most exciting events for us werewolves since it was the time when we would have the greatest chance of finding our mates. I had already given up hope of ever being mated. All I wanted right now was for this day to pass and for me to get back to my normal life. With Mason rejecting me, I knew the moon goddess didn’t really want me to be happy in life. But I had no choice.“I will make my happiness,” I said even as I carried some plates to the palace hall, where all the guests would be sitting.“Why is this place not set yet?” Mrs. Parker said this from the corner of the room.“I’m sorry, ma’am. I was making sure the plates were complete before bringing them.”“You and your flimsy excuses again,” Mrs. Parker shot back.“Better fix all that’s necessary before the mating ceremony. I want this place fully ready in the next 30 minutes,” Mrs. Parker said.“Ma, with all due respect, Mr. I can't...”“Don't you dare call me Mrs. Parker; call me bos
Chloe's POVWas he here to rain more insults on me and let me know how he felt about me?"Hey." He whispered, his voice coming out surprisingly sweet and caring, and I wondered if my ears were deceiving me. Was he here to be nice?"Hello," I answered hesitantly, trying my best to be polite even as I was still hurt from what came out of his mouth immediately after he found out that we were mated."I know that it seemed like I was a bit harsh the other day, but I guess the whole thing just took me by surprise. You took me by surprise." He continued, taking steps forward towards me."Really?" I whispered in fear, and he nodded as he closed the distance between us."Ye. I think you are beautiful, Chloe. Very beautiful." He whispered as he leaned closer. What was he trying to do?"Relax. We are reconciling right now, are we not?" He said this, tracing my bottom lip with his fingers. When I was about to respond and tell him how uncomfortable I was, he shushed me, and I saw his eyes move to
Chloe’s POVThe man suddenly stood up after calling me "MATE" and walked towards me. The hall became silent, and I felt like I was in trouble. In my mind, I thought, "God, I'm dead." When I looked at Mrs. Parker, all I saw on her face was, "I will finish you...!"I tried to explain to the man, "Sorry, sir, you might be mistaken. I'm just an Omega maid." I attempted to start walking away, but he held my hand back and said again, "MATE!!"As my heart raced, I saw Mason approaching. "What will Mason do to me?" I panicked internally. "What have I done?" I kept repeating to myself as he drew nearer. When he reached us, I made a little bow, acknowledging his presence."Sir, sorry, you must be mistaken," Mason said as he got to were we were. "This is a maid of mine, and she is an Omega, so she isn’t qualified to be your Luna Sir.""Sir?" I was surprised that Mason called him "Sir." Did that mean this man really had more power than Mason? The man, apparently unshaken by Aiden's words, gazed i
Aiden’s POVWatching Mason and Chloe interact, I couldn't help but be impressed by Mason's determination to keep Chloe back. Even though he tried to make her seem unimportant, it was clear he valued her more than just as a maid."Interesting," I thought to myself, finding Mason's insistence intriguing.Mason stood his ground firmly, asserting, "She is a palace maid, and she belongs here," with a strong tone that brooked no argument.I admired Mason's resolve. It wasn't often someone challenged me openly, especially over something like claiming a mate. There was a strength in him that caught my attention.Softly, I turned to Chloe, seeing her trembling. "Drop the tray in your hand, please; you must be tired," I requested gently. She did so, her hands shaking, the clatter of the tray breaking the tense silence. Fear clouded her eyes, and I offered a comforting smile, hoping to ease her distress."Are you alright?" I asked.Chloe nodded, but her eyes told a different story. I could lite
Chloe’s POV Aiden and I sat in his fancy Mercedes C class, even as his convoy drove both in front and behind our car. Our journey was really quiet. Mason tried all he could to stop it, but all the important papers have been signed, and now I am officially Aiden's wife. But the trip to his pack was way too silent; we didn't say much to each other, and it made me feel uneasy. "Why aren't we talking?" I thought to myself that I was a bit disappointed. I had hoped for a more exciting journey. I tried to stay calm and enjoy the ride. "Probably, Mason might have pissed him off real bad, and he's trying to cool down," I suggested to myself. As we approached the borders of the Lycan Pack, my breath caught in my throat at the sight before me. The outskirts structure was stunning, with the lighting, structures, and layout all beautifully arranged and perfectly complementing each other. Trying to start a conversation, I said, "The outskirts of your pack look really nice. I wonder how beaut
Chloe’s POVI paused, considering my words carefully. "The Lycan King is determined by birthright. Aiden's older brother, Prince Hudson, is the heir apparent to the throne. So, technically, he is next in line to become the Lycan King."My eyes widened in realization. "So, Aiden is like... the prince who supports the king?"Ashley nodded. "Exactly, Miss Chloe. Aiden holds an important position in the royal family, but he is not destined to be the Lycan King unless something happens to Prince Lucas."I frowned, feeling a mix of confusion and intrigue. "But why did the guards say that Aiden was going to be the Lycan King soon?"Ashley shrugged. "I'm not sure, Miss Chloe. Perhaps they were speculating or maybe there's something happening within the royal family that we don't know about."I hesitated for a moment before deciding to voice my question. "Um, actually, I was wondering... Does Prince Aiden have a special someone? Like, a girlfriend or something?"Ashley paused, considering her
Years LaterThe grand festival continued into the night, but as the celebrations waned, a quieter, more reflective scene unfolded. Amidst the joy and laughter, Aiden and Chloe found themselves watching their children, Alex and Mia, play in the castle’s expansive gardens.Alex, now a young man of seventeen, had inherited his father’s strong, determined spirit. He was tall and confident, with a sharp gaze that seemed to miss nothing. His interactions with the other children were marked by a natural leadership, a blend of kindness and authority that spoke of his future role as a leader.Mia, a year younger than Alex, was equally impressive. She was vibrant and intelligent, with a keen sense of justice that mirrored her mother’s. Even at her young age, her ability to understand and empathize with others was remarkable. She moved through the crowd with a grace that drew people to her, her laughter and energy infusing the air with an infectious enthusiasm. As Aiden and Chloe watched their c
Aiden’s POVI stood there, my mind racing with a mix of shock, betrayal, and disbelief. The flashing red and blue lights of the police cars painted an eerie glow on the faces of the people I once called family. Claire, Mason, and Hudson were being led away in handcuffs, their expressions a mixture of anger and resignation."It's funny," I muttered, more to myself than anyone else, "how people you call your family and blood would turn against you."Ashley, my best friend, stood beside me, her face pale. "I can't believe they had a hand in your son's disappearance," she whispered, her voice trembling. "All this time..."I shook my head, feeling a bitter laugh bubbling up. "Yeah, I know the world is wicked and all, but nah... this was too massive," I said, my voice rising with emotion. "Like wow... damn... so I really had fake bloods around me."The words felt foreign in my mouth, like speaking in a language I didn't quite understand. I watched as the police shoved Claire into the back o
Claire’s POVI arrived at the abandoned building, its skeletal structure of steel beams and concrete looming ominously against the twilight sky. This place, once a construction site left unfinished, now served as a perfect hideout for clandestine activities. Pulling up in my car, I shut off the engine and stepped out, my senses on high alert. Just then, my phone buzzed with a call from Mason."Mason, where are they?" I asked, my tone brisk."They’re inside the building, Claire. Just walk in, and you’ll find the kid," Mason's voice crackled over the line."Alright," I replied, my eyes scanning the darkened entrance. "I’m heading in now."Walking towards the entrance, the crunch of gravel underfoot punctuated the silence of the evening. As I stepped inside, the dim light from the setting sun barely penetrated the building’s interior, leaving me in shadowed uncertainty. I called out as I moved further in, my voice echoing off the empty walls."Mason, I’m inside. I don’t see anyone yet."
Claire’s POVI entered my room and slammed the door, shaking the walls with the force of my anger. My breath came in ragged gasps, and my heart pounded furiously in my chest. God!!!! Chloe!!!!!! After all I have done to get rid of you, you still were able to squeeze yourself back into my life. Wow... Nice. I muttered to myself, an evil smile playing on my lips as I paced back and forth, trying to calm the storm inside me. I will make sure you and Aiden never have peace of mind. The room was dimly lit, the curtains drawn tight to shut out the world. My desk was cluttered with papers and books, the remnants of a life I was trying to rebuild. But now, all I could see was red. Memories of Chloe flooded my mind – the times she outshone me, the moments she humiliated me, the way she always seemed to have Aiden's attention.I paused in front of the mirror, staring at my reflection. My eyes were wild, filled with a mix of rage and determination. "You always thought you were better than me, di
Aiden’s POVThe room was dimly lit, and the smell of antiseptic was heavy in the air. I blinked slowly, trying to clear the fog from my mind. My head throbbed with a searing pain that felt like it was tearing through my skull. It took a moment for my surroundings to come into focus—the hospital room, the steady beeping of monitors, and the IV drip attached to my arm."Finally, you're awake," a familiar voice broke through the haze. It was Lucas, sitting in a chair beside my bed, his face a mixture of relief and concern."Lucas..." I croaked, my voice raspy and weak. "What... what happened?"He leaned forward, his eyes never leaving mine. "Aiden, we thought we lost you. Chloe managed to reach me after it all happened. She said you both were attacked."I struggled to sit up, wincing as pain shot through my body. "Yeah, we were... Is she okay? Are the kids okay?"Lucas hesitated, his silence stretching like a taut wire. I repeated my question, my voice rising in urgency. "Lucas, are Chlo
Aiden’s POVI was beyond happy as I drove my family back with me to my pack. Having Chloe and my kids in the car was one of the happiest things that had ever happened to me. As I heard Mia and Alex having their playful banter in the back seat, I couldn’t help but smile. Yeah, finally, I had gotten what I had been missing all this while to myself."Why are you smiling really hard?" Chloe asked, her voice pulling me back from my thoughts."Ooh, nothing," I said, my smile widening."Hmm, you sure?" she asked, giving me a sideways glance."Yeah, just thinking about how perfect everything is right now," I replied, glancing at her briefly before focusing back on the road."I can see that," she said with a soft laugh. "It’s kind of contagious, you know.""What is?" I asked, curious."Your smile. The kids are smiling too. Look at them," she said, turning slightly to look at the back seat.I glanced in the rearview mirror and saw Mia and Alex giggling, their faces lit up with joy. It warmed my
Aiden’s POVThe guard took a deep breath, his voice trembling slightly. "The news reaching us right now is that Aiden will be returning with Chloe.""Okay?" I replied, confusion lacing my voice. "That's good news... because I know definitely he's returning with her head in a ba—""No, Your Highness," the guard interrupted, his tone more urgent. "It is said that they are returning as couples.""What! Couples? How?" I exclaimed, standing up so abruptly that my chair toppled over. "Isn't Aiden meant to kill her for him to have peace? Wasn't that what the goddess we paid instructed him to do?""Yes, sir, but—""But what?" I cut the guard off angrily. "See, get me Claire," I told him, even as I sat back angrily in the bathtub. "What sort of rubbish is this?"The guard nodded quickly and scurried out of the room. I leaned back in the tub, the warm water doing little to soothe my rising irritation. How could Aiden betray us like this? What could possibly have happened?Minutes later, Claire,
Aiden’s POVBefore I could answer, Chloe's stepfather, the alpha of the pack, interrupted me. His stern expression softened as he looked at Chloe and then turned to me, confusion etched on his face.'What is going on here?' the alpha demanded. 'Who is this man, Chloe?'Chloe took a deep breath and stepped closer to her stepfather. 'Dad, this is Aiden. He was... he was my husband.'The alpha's eyes widened in shock. 'Your husband? The one who...''Yes,' Chloe interrupted, her voice trembling. 'The one who sent me away.'The alpha's gaze turned hard as he looked at me. 'You have a lot of explaining to do, young man.''I know,' I said, meeting his gaze. 'I owe Chloe and you an explanation.'Chloe gestured for us to sit. 'Let's all sit down and talk. There's a lot to discuss.'We moved to the sitting area, the tension in the room palpable. Chloe sat next to her stepfather, while I took a seat across from them.'Aiden,' the alpha began, 'I want to hear your side of the story. Why did you s
Aiden’s POV"Hey, sir, sorry to intrude, but I couldn't just keep quiet. You really have amazing grandkids, Sire," I said, trying to mask my curiosity with a friendly tone.King Aiden looked at me and chuckled. "Yeah, I sure do. They are really something special. My grandkids are the best gift life has given me.""That's really lovely, Sire," I said, genuinely touched by his pride. "From the way your grandson looked, I'm pretty sure their mother must be very beautiful."The Alpha's face lit up with a broad smile. "Oh, you have no idea. My daughter is beyond beautiful. She's a queen in every sense of the word," he said, his voice filled with pride as he continued praising her beauty and grace."I can imagine," I said, smiling. "She must be very special to have such a wonderful son.""She is," King Aiden nodded. "Chloe has always been the heart of our family. Strong, kind, and fiercely protective of those she loves."As we continued our meal, the atmosphere was light and filled with lau
