CHAPTER 4
Lucinda’s POV
I woke up alone in bed A faint, indistinct scent of Darcus lingered in the air, bringing the scenes of last night back to my mind. I had a wonderful night, to say the least, my wolf let out a contented howl, though my heart still ached because of my broken mate bond
I had seen Darcus, the Lycan king countless times in the news and magazines. I always thought he was very huge and muscular but they didn't compare to how amazing he looked yesterday.
Darn! What are all these thoughts? I never knew I could think like this. I never expected a one-night stand but to be honest with myself, I don't regret it.
The moment I thought this was a betrayal of Alpha Killian, a sense of vengeful pleasure welled up in my heart. even if it was just self - deceptive.
I'm sure I can let go of Killian now but I hope and pray to the moon goddess I never cross paths with him again. And I'm sure I won't meet King Darcus again either.
Back to reality, I'm currently in a whore house and I need to get out of here and now that my head's clear. I will never let anyone hurt me again
I left the room and kept walking until I walked into the dining hall where a group of werewolves were gathered, counting their earnings for the night.
I smiled at them, it's time to get my compensation.
“Good morning, boys.” I flicked my hair back and sat down with them.
“Woah!” They all roared once I got their attention. “Our star of the night! You've awakened. How was your beauty sleep?” The werewolf counting all the money, who also had a sleazy smirk on his face asked.
I shrugged, “It was okay, had a bit of fun.” they all laughed but they all quieted down once I said my next words… “But y'all not going to be able to have fun soon.”
“Hey! Just because you fuck the Lycan king doesn't mean you're now the Queen, dumb bitch. You're just an Omega, at best you'll only be for his amusement but you're not special.” The guy yelled at me.
I sighed, “I'm sure you're the owner or at least the manager of this whore house so you should have a folder with all the whores in your position. Bring it and check to see if I'm in there because I'm not.”
“Shut your trap! I know how many whores I have and yesterday, I didn't have any extra.”
“You better check otherwise your business will close down or worse, you'll all die.”
“And who do you think you are to threaten us like that!” One of the guys beside him rose and yelled at me, trying to intimidate me but I behaved nonchalantly. “You're just an omega!”
“Yes but do you know who my mate is?” I asked which got everyone silent.
“I'm sure you all noticed the famous Mercedes at that run-down motel. Such a luxurious car should never be in such a place so I'm sure you didn't miss it or rather, because you did notice it, that's why you took the van to the back, I'm I right?”
“What are you getting at here?” the manager sneered.
“That I'm the mate of the Alpha of this pack, Alpha Killian. I'm sure you all have read the news that he discovered his mate to be an Omega. I am that Omega.” I announced confidently. “We came to that motel to have some fun and he was at the front waiting for me before you all kidnapped me. He must be searching for me by now which means, if he discovers what happened here last night, you're all in trouble.”
“Bullshit! Why would Alpha Killian care about his omega mate?”
“And what proof do you have that you're indeed his mate?” the questions kept coming and I just shrugged,
“I can't prove that since my face isn't on the internet but you can find out that I shouldn't be here if you check the folder with all your whores information in it. Plus I'm sure you can all tell that two male wolf scents are on me instead.” I urged him to check and this time he went along with others for the folder to be brought to him.
After checking three times, he was finally convinced that I wasn't one of his property, “So what do you want now?” He asked, his voice a little lower and not as intimidating.
“For you to buy my silence,” I responded immediately. “I want thirty (30) percent of the earnings last night to ensure my silence of what happened when I meet Alpha Killian again otherwise…”
“You're the mate of the Alpha, he's rich so why should you care about our money?” One of the guys there questioned angrily.
I laughed at him, “He's rich but that doesn't mean I should earn money when I can especially when I worked hard for it. I'm sure most of the money here right now is from the tips they gave to me. It's idiotic for you to think I'll forgive you without anything after what you put me through last night. Killing me is out of the question since this is the last place I've been and he immediately knows the mastermind and kills all of you well.” I got up and slammed my palms on the table, “So what will it be? The price is non negotiable.” I smirked at him, from the look on his face, I knew I got him cornered.
Last night will be the last time I do anything foolish, thinking with my heart instead of my brain like I usually do.
CHAPTER 5Lucinda’s POVI was allowed to leave and was paid thirty (30) percent of everything they received last night. I could have asked for more but I know they have to pay staff plus I'm not that greedy. If only my situation was real and Someone was going to come for me but I know better than anyone that if Alpha Killian was going to come, he would have been there since last night. If he had come to rescue me, I would have had him shut down the place but since I'm on my own, I had to think of other ways to leave. I very well know that they would have been suspicious of me if I hadn't requested money in exchange for my silence. Leaving empty-handed while promising silence after threatening them that someone powerful was going to come for them would have given away my lie.As I walked down the street in my tight dress and barefoot in broad daylight, I wondered what I was going to do with my suitcase filled with money. It was almost evening before I reached home. Once my mom saw me,
Lucinda's POV. My heart thundered dangerously in my chest about to burst out of my rib cage immediately I set my eyes on the owner of the strip club. "Excuse us, ma'am." I told the delivery nurse, who glanced at my visitor for a long while before agreeing to leave. The room was plunged into silence, "Did you think I would never find you? What a coincidence to realize that after searching for so long I finally found you here." He said. I had no words, my tongue suddenly lost the ability to produce any words as I kept on staring at him. Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever imagined that he was going to show up at my doorstep and not only that when I was giving birth. "I'm sorry I do not know you." I lied, trying to pull rule over his eyes. Agreeing to know him was only going to prolong this issue. I feigned stress, frowning as I tried to concentrate on who he could be. "I'm sorry but I don't know you sir. I just gave birth." I said, again hoping that this threw him off. A
Chapter 7. It seemed like the world down was crashing right on me and I could even make any move. My tongue got cleft to the roof of my mouth and I didn't know what next to do. I was panicking as the nurse kept on staring at me probably wondering why exactly this was my reaction. Forcing out a smile only had me wincing as my teeth gnashed against each other. If Darcus came here he was going to smell his pups and probably demand that I come along with him. I glanced at the nurse who looked at me in shock."Please I need you to help me with something. I cannot stay here any longer. The more I stay here I am prone to accidents. If I keep staying here I will lose my life." I explained to her watching her eyes widen in shock at my explanation. She looked at me again to be sure that she was hearing correctly. "I know how this sounds but this is not who I am on a normal day. Believe me when I say that I have everything worked out. I just need to hide for a while till he leaves. He is her
Chapter 8.Darcus' POV. My wolf was edgy as we continue down the isles of the hospital. We were looking for something more but I couldn't just disclose it to anyone yet. "Alpha I think this is the best time to inform you that we have separate people coming in her day in and day out, telling us about how proficient our hospital has become in the last few years and I think it's something that we should look more into."the main doctor said. I kept on staring at everyone refusing to tell them why exactly I was here. I would never be here on a normal day if I didn't have an agenda but it had not been met. "One of the most business I came here was because I believed that you would have honored our conversation instead of allowing me come here myself. I can smell something in the air but do not know what exactly it is." I told the doctor. He knew that I wasn't want to play games so I didn't invest my time and energy into a business that wasn't profitable in any way.He looked away from
Chapter 9Lucinda's POV. Two Months Later, I headed straight into the back of the kitchen, sales had been a little bit slow for a while now and I thought that it would not make any sense if I went ahead to do something that could potentially harm my business. I looked away when I saw Jeff's Messenger coming towards me to take his money. Ever since he could locate my shop he had made my life a living hell but I had no choice but to pay him his commission. I was going to put my foot down one of these days but it wasn't yet time and I needed to be secure before doing anything that could ruin my life. The doorbell dinged as he walked in. "I'm looking for Layla." He said with his nose in the air.I watched him as he proceeded towards the kitchen after I had told my staff never to stop him whenever he came around because it was kind of like my punishment for not doing what I should have done right on time. "Now that you have managed to come here even before I invited you, what do you
Chapter 10. Darcus' POV. Coming in contact with people who had the same visions as you did was almost pretty non-existent in our days and we had to look far and wide just to find someone who had even do slightest amount of emotions and concentration about stuff. I refused to let this weigh me down as I proceeded into the pack house. We were supposed to have a meeting with alpha Bryan but he showed up in marvelous way such as always asking what I was here for and how exactly I should be comfortable in his presence without having to worry about a lot of things. It was rare to see such dedication nowadays. So I cherished it whenever I found it. "Welcome, alpha Darcus. What a surprise to see you in our environs especially such a day like this. I mean it's not always going to be easy but we can always find time to always check up on each other and I appreciate this. I was thinking about coming over to yours even if you refused to come to mine!" He greeted boisterously. I laughed beca
Chapter 11.Lucinda's POV. The day was hectic especially with the fact that Lily had not resumed due to her child's illness. Shuffling between being the baker and also the care responding to messages and hoping that the orders were not going to choke me one of these days. I yawned stylishly not wanting people to notice that I was tired and could drop dead one of these days if care wasn't taken. My twins were beginning to suck so much that I had to express breast milk every now and then due to the doctor's advice. Sometimes I blamed myself for thinking that I could be strong enough to juggle motherhood and also work because now I was doing poorly at it and I didn't even need anyone to tell me that. I laughed at myself before wiping my wrist over my face. I needed to be taken into a massage or spa unit where my bones would be flattened out, probably deboned just so that I could resemble a proper human after a long time. My mind flashed to my baby daddy as I worked on the last piec
Chapter 12. Lucinda's POV. He's here! The severity of his presence weighed deeply in my mind. This wasn't a friendly visit. He was probably here because of what he had heard and now it was my duty to pretend like it wasn't true. I didn't want to be in the mix of people who would shove things under the carpet just to be able to feel good. I fixed my face and walked out. "Good evening, sir. May I ask what you want?" I said in a cheerful tone masking my fear. Darcus' heated gaze ran across my full length and I felt a bit weird. I knew deep down that this was going to escalate. I just didn't know how far it would go. "I need two donuts, and some juice or whatever you have." He said, his eyes raking all over my body in perusal yet sending sparks down my body. "Um... Sorry to disappoint you, sir, but we are close for the night." I laughed nervously, hoping that he would take the hint and move on. I locked gazes with my server who looked at me as though I had run mad. If I didn't di
Lucinda's POV. Jared and Chris were on their feet immediately as all the alpha strike to surround these two who had decided to make a spectacle of themselves. I didn't think that it was beyond words but they seemed to think so and wanted to deal with the situation however they liked. I placed my hand on Chris' to stop him from doing something that might cost him a lot. He would try to separate people who didn't want any atom of peace and I didn't see any sense in that. It would have made a lot of sense if he just stayed away from them, forgetting that they ever existed. I kind of figure that it will be hard for him to do stuff like that because then it would make him feel like a bad person but deep down I wanted them to iron this out deeply and then never have to come and fight for things that didn't matter. I would have loved it even more if they could relax their stance and try to speak to each other just to hear what they had to say. Darcus kicked Alpha Martin in the belly m
Jared chuckled nervously as he tried to crack a joke which didn't quite crack through the atmosphere. It was tense, almost like a coiled spring as everyone was waiting for the worst to happen so that they could be relieved. I on the other hand didn't care for whatever it was they were trying to do because that was not my focus. I just wanted to see that this man knew his place and respected people whenever he got to meet them not because of what he had. "She is a feisty one and I don't think I deal with cats.""Cats would scratch your eyes out and leave you blind so I would suggest that you be careful while dealing with them." Darcus butted into the conversation. This was going to be a long night and I was prepared for it. I saw Chris shaking his head probably hoping that this didn't turn into a full-blown war but I didn't care as much as he did because this man was irritating. "Please guys, we are going to be having more visitors. I wouldn't like for us to show them that there is
Lucinda's POV. Alpha Martin, one of the most powerful alphas in the country, stood at the door with his commanding presence casting almost a spell over everyone as they looked at him transfixed. It was only I and Darcus that seemed to be immune to his charm. According to the rumors around we had heard that he had mingled with some people for dark magic purposes and although the rumors had gone around no one dared to speak it to his face. One of the amazing things that caught my attention was the fact that he refused to look away instead staring at each and every of us as though expecting us to say something but the moment we refused he shrugged and moved closer. "I guess today is going to be a great day seeing that everyone is present, especially those who love me so much yet refuse to say it." Alpha Martin mentioned and sauntered towards his seat. I would have been a little bit annoyed if he had not acknowledged protocol and came close to me but he gave me a wide berth. "You ar
Lucinda's POV. The party started, and I walked downstairs with my head held up, enjoying the fact that I was looking as elegant as I called. Clad in a dress that had me feeling like a queen that I wasn't I decided to move as fast as I could just to get downstairs and meet up with the first set of people that would be attending. I stopped just a few minutes away from the place where Darcus was sitting and realized that all eyes landed on me as though they had never seen a person in their entire life. I wasn't going to judge them because they had a certain image in mind, and I had defeated it, even without doing a thing. Without much ado, I decided to take laws into my own hands by pretending like I had no idea of what was going on but still showing them who was boss. To my surprise, Darcus Rose from his seat and came closer to me grabbing my hands and kissing the back of my palm like he loved me so much. I was a little bit flustered by the attention he was showering on me, and I b
Lucinda's POV. As soon as we got into the room I looked around enjoying how it was designed to be almost like an airbnb. Accommodating but gave you the vibes that you needed to leave when it was time. My companion hummed softly as he headed to the bathroom. It was evident that he was not a visitor here based on their discussions and decided that he would also bring me into the discussion while I would have rather passed. I think that it was necessary for a minute for me to also have a feel on what has been going on over here. "You should also get into the shower. There is a lot more to think about when the party actually starts. I want us to go over a few things so that we do not have conflicting views when we are asked. Most of my enemies are going to be present tonight and I hope that you dress pretty well." He said, his eyes roaming all over my body not in a suggestive way. Perusal? Did he think I couldn't clean up and become one of the best women that he had ever seen? I shou
Lucinda's POV. I took my suitcase into the house hoping that I was able to navigate my way without complicating things and also feeling very aware of my surroundings and also didn't disgrace him like he feared. If there was any reason for me to be mad at him then I had to swallow it up. I also had to remind myself that he was dignitary and needed to be treated that way.Color me shocked immediately as we walked into the house, we were greeted by cheerful women, who looked like cheerleaders in high school, making me a little bit weirded out. “Relax, that is just the way of welcoming everyone for the meeting. You are going to be in the midst of very important people soon and I hope that you are able to compose yourself.” Darcus whispered, smiling at me.I fixed my face immediately and I realized that it was time for us to pretend to be chummy with each other. I took a deep breath and smiled at the welcome party, then waited for them to speak but was perplexed when an Alpha chuckled
Lucinda's POV. Our car passed through various landscapes and I felt like coming down and running in my wolf form just to experience the grass beneath my paws. “You seem to be in love with nature right?” Darcus asked me, but I didn't know what to respond with immediately because now I was a little bit worried about where we were going because of how hyped it had been. Chris was in the same car with us and I could feel his eyes from the front of the car watching our interaction. I didn't understand their obsession with our relationship because it was not the conventional one. “Yeah, I think that the goddess made a lot of great choices when picking out a few places to make us dominate.” I whispered, getting into my feelings. Darcus smiled at me, looking at me curiously. “Are you one of those staunch believers?” I gazed at him in shock, “aren't you?”He shrugged nonchalantly. “I don't know but we perform the rituals as we have been taught. That doesn't mean that I have any personal
Lucinda's POV. Nothing prepared me for the insane amount of clothes that Abigail packed for me in my travel suit. She was of the opinion that I was going to need more than enough and I wondered what kind of meeting we were going for that required a fashion parade. She smiled at me in self-satisfaction and I kind of figured out that she was doing this for herself more than me. Raising my brows in curiosity I spoke. "Should I be worried that you are more concerned about yourself than me? I should be bothered about my appearance more than you are."She scoffed at me, watching carefully as I looked at her in horror. I couldn't possibly wear all these clothes in the space of a 3-day trip but I guess this was how they wanted things to go here so I had to pretend like I loved it. Abigail rushed towards me and grabbed my hand. "I know that this is probably going to sound weird but I want you to be at your best so that everyone can see how beautiful you are. This is going to mean a lot to
Darcus' POV. I watched her eyes glimmer with different emotions and couldn't help myself to be drawn into them. She had wonderful eyes and sometimes I wondered why I showed so much restraint instead of jumping her like I had done with the others. My wolf had been pretty insistent about me courting her properly like I would a wife and even though I didn't understand everything that was going on I kind of figure that it would be nice to show some restraints for a change. "I could accompany you anywhere you want as long as I know what to do so that I do not embarrass you over there." She spoke, with realness, her tone telling me that she didn't have any time for shenanigans and was ready to take up the role. I had never been impressed about a woman like I was with her and as much as I would love to explore whatever feelings I was having for a stranger I decided to tame it, I could tell that Chris was not happy with how efficient she was, but that was none of his business and he need
