Chapter 34: No Regrets?

Selina's POV

“They want to go to bed,” Jiya said, approaching me with the twins clinging to her, rubbing their tired eyes.

It was getting late, but the party was still in full swing. I nodded and scanned the crowd. Where could Reagan be? We’d promised the twins that we’d tuck them in together.

I finally spotted him chatting with the Grand Duke. Beside him was Giselle, her smile plastered wide across her face. I cringed. They were such an eyesore together. Oh, wait, what am I even saying? I shouldn’t be affected by this. Pull yourself together, Selina.

Taking a deep breath, I decided that Jiya and I would take the twins to bed. “Let’s go. They need to sleep,” I said, lifting Sky into my arms. I wished I could carry them both. Jiya picked up Abigail.

As we held them, they rested their heads on our shoulders and fell asleep instantly, clearly exhausted. We began to walk out of the venue.

“So much has happened in just one month,” Jiya murmured with a sigh. I nodded

Chapter 35: Don't Make Mommy WorrySelina's POV"May I have a moment with you?" she said, glancing at Jiya. "Alone," she added. I took a deep breath and nodded at Jiya.I knew she was hesitant to leave me alone with Charlotte, aware of how she treated me.Jiya looked at me with concern but eventually nodded and went ahead to the garden with the twins. Once she was gone, I turned my gaze back to Charlotte."Where should we talk?" I asked her calmly. She smiled, though it didn’t reach her eyes. How amazing it is to see her openly show her disapproval, I thought sarcastically."Follow me," she said, and began to walk. I followed her in silence.I wondered what she wanted to say. Maybe it was about what happened last night. Or perhaps she’d ask me to back off.She stopped walking, so I did too. "Bring us tea," she ordered her servant as we entered her private sitting room. She sat down and gave me a cold look. I nodded and took a seat as she gestured."I'll get straight to the point. How

Chapter 36: Failed To ProtectSelina's POVMy eyebrows knitted together as I crossed my arms over my chest. "Are you all seriously telling me no one knows what happened?" I demanded in frustration. That’s just absurd.Sky and Abi have over five nannies looking after them whenever I’m not around. And yet, here they all are, telling me no one saw what actually happened? Do they think I’m a fool?“We were all away from the scene when the incident happened, My Lady,” one of them said, bowing her head. My face twisted with even more irritation.“All of you were away? Not a single one of you can tell me the truth?” I said angrily, watching them exchange nervous glances. It looked like none of them had any intention of admitting anything."How about I tell His Majesty to investigate this matter himself? What do you think?" I said coldly. Instantly, they all bowed even deeper. “Please don’t, My Lady,” they chorused, trembling.I gritted my teeth. “Then talk,” I ordered. One brave soul finally

The way he fell into the water yesterday must have been serious.I stopped walking and looked at her. Shaking my head, I replied softly, "No, baby. Mommy isn’t mad at your father." She stared at me intently, as if trying to read my thoughts."Why do you ask, Abi?" I questioned her gently. She pouted and said, "Because you’re ignoring him, Mom. He told me he’s sad because you won’t talk to him."What? Reagan said that?I sighed deeply and knelt down to her level. "We just had a misunderstanding, Baby. But I’m not mad at him, okay?" I assured her while gently patting her head. She nodded, looking a little more relieved. "Okay, Mom."We continued walking, but my mind drifted back to yesterday’s conversation with Reagan. He had begged me not to take the kids away and promised that Giselle would no longer be a threat to

I’ve been hearing about this for days, and it’s seriously ruining my mood.“Do you think the wedding will finally happen this time?” her companion asked. Do they seriously have no better hobby than gossiping while working?Everywhere I go, this is the only topic people seem to be discussing. I don’t know if they’re doing it intentionally to let me hear, or if it’s just a coincidence. I’ve kept quiet about this matter, not even sure if Reagan himself has heard of these rumors.I shrugged it off, trying to calm the growing irritation within me. But seriously, why am I even mad? It doesn’t matter if they get married. The only thing that truly matters to me is that Sky and Abi get the rights they deserve as his children. Whether Reagan chooses to betray my trust again is up to him and his conscience.Shaking my head, I forced myself to ignore their words.

I turned to gaze out of the train window, letting a small smile curve my lips.“Yes, we can, Jiya. The twins wanted to see vast green fields, flower farms, and gardens—somewhere far from the chaos of the palace,” I replied gently. From the corner of my eye, I noticed her looking at me with a puzzled expression. “Why does it feel like you’re the one who needs this escape?”I turned to her and chuckled softly. “Right. You’re not wrong,” I admitted, taking a deep breath. “This is exactly what I need, too. It’s just a short trip, Jiya. We’ll be back at the palace before Reagan even notices we’re gone.” I glanced at the twins, peacefully sleeping beside us.She frowned, clearly still uneasy. “But no one knows we left the palace, let alone the city. What if His Majesty comes back unexpectedly? He’ll lose his mind looking for you and the twins,” she said, her tone fi

She shook Sky’s shoulder, jolting him from his drowsiness."Come on, Sky! Let’s look out the window and watch the train stop!" Abigail exclaimed, her excitement contagious."Huh?" Holding my twins’ hands, I finally called Jiya’s attention.“Um, Jiya, should we head out now?” I asked uncertainly. She looked at me briefly, then back at Aamon. “It’s nice to see you again, but unfortunately, we need to leave,” she said seriously.Aamon nodded, but his eyes betrayed his reluctance. “Sure, see you around then.”Jiya gave him a curt nod and walked over to us.That was... uncomfortable. As we started heading to our room, I couldn’t hold back my curiosity. “So, that’s your ex-mate?” I asked her.She sighed deeply and nodded slowly. “Yes, he is,” she answered quietly. "Yeah, I had a good nap earlier," she replied.I stared at her, unconvinced. She didn’t look like she had slept at all, but I decided not to point it out. Instead, I shifted my gaze to the twins, who were happily devouring their meals."Anyway, sorry I couldn’t take you out earlier," Jiya said, pulling my attention back to her."There’s always tomorrow, so don’t worry," I replied with a reassuring smile. She nodded, but something about her demeanor felt off. It was strange to see her so downcast.Maybe it’s the weight of everything that happened today. When I first saw Reagan again while I was in disguise, I felt a whirlwind of emotions—sadness, anger, and fear that he might uncover the truth.Even though our situations are different, I understand how Jiya feels. "For once, Selina, be honest with your feelings," he said with urgency, his gaze sharp as it locked onto mine."Stop being stubborn. Stop pushing me away. I know I hurt you, and that’s why you don’t want me to stay. But please, I don’t believe that there’s no trace of love left for me in your heart," he said, his voice filled with sorrow.I pressed my lips together tightly, turning my head to avoid his gaze. I didn’t want to feel that pain again, the repeated humiliation of loving him."So tell me, Selina. Say that you don’t love me, and I’ll let you go completely," he said hoarsely. Not yet.I’d done everything I could—cleaned his wounds, treated him. But there was only so much I could do.Biting my lower lip, I let out another shaky breath. Don’t care. Don’t worry about him. I had told myself I wouldn’t. But here I was, caught in the same cycle, fretting over him.I pressed my lips together and whispered, “You’re really something else, Reagan,” before standing up from my chair. Now that I’d done my part, I could leave and return to the twins. They shifted back into their human forms.I quickly handed each of them a towel to cover themselves. Abigail was overjoyed with the results, while Sky chuckled, knowing he could never beat his sister—not yet, at least. He's still young and was frail as a child. He didn’t get the chance to train his body or enhance his abilities for this kind of competition."See? I told you I’m faster than you!" Abigail teased, grinning widely. Instead of being annoyed, Sky laughed along."Okay, fine. You win this time. But this isn’t over, sister. Someday, I’ll beat you!" he declared with determination. Abi laughed even louder."I’ll be waiting," she replied with a mischievous smile. I shook my head, amused, and turned to Jiya."Go change," I told her.She nodded and went o

If he’s here, does that mean Reagan is too?"Selina, Jiya, Prince Sky, Princess Abigail," Adrian greeted us, bowing his head. Jiya returned the bow while the twins smiled politely."Hello, Royal Beta," Abigail said warmly."It’s nice to see you here, Uncle Adrian. Is Father with you?" Chapter 71: PeacefulSelina's POVIt has been two weeks since we left the palace, and I must admit, life is beginning to feel different—freer. For the first time in years, there’s a sense of normalcy, a quiet peace that I didn’t know I craved so deeply.I glanced at the twins, Abi and Sky, who were laughing and chasing each other around the living room. Their giggles echoed through the house, pure and unrestrained. Their happiness was infectious, warming every corner of my heart. When we first left, we planned to rent a small house, but Reagan insisted on buying one for us. He didn’t want the twins to feel displaced or unsafe. I didn’t argue. He was right—the children deserve a stable home, a place where they can grow without fear.Even now, I’ve noticed knights discreetly guarding the perimeter. They try to remain unseen, but I can sense their presence. It’s a small comfort, knowing Abi and Sky are still protected. After all, they are the legitimate heirs to the kingdom, whether or n

She was right—all I did was lie and make promises I couldn’t even keep.“Can we talk, son?” Charlotte said as she entered my office, her voice soft as always. I didn’t bother looking up.Adrian was right. She really refused to leave the palace. She’s been trying to talk to me about it—she wants to stay here with me.But I refused. I gave her only a week to stay, and after that, she and Vincent must leave immediately. What they did to Selina is unacceptable. If she weren’t my mother, I would’ve sentenced her to death. I shook the thought away and continued with what I was doing.“Son,” she called again. This time, I stopped reading and looked at her coldly.“What?” I asked, my voice icy.She lowered her gaze and hesitated to speak. I frowned.“Stop wasting my time.
