Chapter 02: Beg

Chapter 02: Beg

I slowly opened my eyes, feeling the emptiness of my heart. I feel like my heart become a void, consumed by a dark abyss. Where every beat echoed with unending sadness, suffocating any flicker of hope.

I let out a sigh as I looked around. He wasn’t beside me anymore. He probably went out to work. I hate myself for being soft towards him even though I’m already hurting. I always give in to him.

I looked at the door when I heard a soft knock. “Lady Selina, it’s me, Jiya. I am here to get you,” she said politely. I pressed my lips together, “Alright, I’ll be there in a minute,” I replied.

“I’ll be waiting, my lady,” she replied. I combed my hair using my fingers and walked out of the room.

"Let’s go," I said wearily. She stayed silent and just looked at me. my brow furrowed in confusion, "Why?" I asked. She immediately shook her head. "My heart aches for you, my lady. It’s upsetting me to see you sad," she admitted.

I smiled to reassure her, "Don’t worry about me, Jiya. Life must go on,” I said. She nodded and didn’t say anything more. I knew she cared about me. She’s one of the few people in this kingdom who genuinely worries about me. Jiya, someday I'll return your kindness.

“Get everything out of this room! Don’t leave behind anything! God! This place is a mess. It’s disgusting!” Jiya and I looked into each other quickly. I saw multiple servants going in and out of my room. What is happening?

What are they doing? Why are they throwing my things away? I ran immediately, wanting to stop them. They don’t have the right to touch my things. “Stop! Stop destroying my property!” I yelled in panic, my breath ragged as I ran fast.

Jiya quickly runs behind me. The state of the room is making me panic even more. It was a mess; it was giving me nausea. I… I don’t want them touching my things. Let alone destroy them. I saw Giselle ordering her servants to bring my belongings out the room. They were ruining, tearing my things apart. They even sprayed perfume as if they were disgusted by the scent of my room.

“Oh, look who’s here. Her scent was enough to make throw up!” one of Giselle’s maids said in disgust. She even acted as if she wanted to puke. They were pinching their noses like they were mocking me.

What do they mean? There’s no smell in my room because I take good care of it. How rude they are. And why are they here in the first place?

“What do you think you are doing, Giselle?” I questioned angrily. She can’t be serious. What else does she want? Reagan got engaged to her as she wanted. She raised an eyebrow, seemingly unaffected by my anger.

“Oh, what do you mean?” She said innocently. I gritted my teeth in irritation, “Don’t act innocently to me. Get out of here and leave me alone!” She stared at me, amused. Later, she laughed and looked around. She saw a book, the book I love to keep with me.

She smirked. No, she can’t be serious. She walked closer and got it. “Who are you again?” she raised an eyebrow. “The last time I checked, you’re my fiancé’s breeder, nothing more,” she said, emphasizing the word fiancé.

I know that, but this place is exclusively mine. No one can touch it. Not even Reagan. “Don’t act like you hold some power and authority here, Selina. You’re just no one,” she said as she started ripping my book while looking directly into my eyes.

I was shocked while looking at her. She smiled slyly, throwing my ruined book on the ground. “Remember your place, Selina.” I clenched my hand tightly. Calm down, Selina. She’s not worth it.

“And just to let you know, I’m decorating the palace for our upcoming wedding.” What? “And Reagan already agreed,” she added, smiling widely. I get it. She’s here to humiliate me. I took a deep breath. I can’t let myself get stressed over this.

“Stop it, Giselle. I know you’re going to marry him, so… leave me alone and this place,” I said calmly. But she raised an eyebrow. “I told you. He agreed—” I cut her off. “I heard you. But leave this place. I want everything you ruined to be repaired,” I demanded.

She looked at me as if she was shocked that I’m calm about this. I’m not, I’m just controlling myself not to be mad. Her face reddened in anger, “How dared you order me around, you wench!” She screamed angrily.

I closed my eyes, “I’m not. I’m asking you nicely—” Before I couldn’t finish my sentence, she slapped my cheeks. I was stunned. Did she just hit me? Jiya screamed in terror.

“Giselle, what did you do?!” Giselle quickly glared at Jiya. “What did you say?” she hissed. “You hit a pregnant woman—” I stop her. I shook my head. She doesn’t need to involve herself with this mess. I know Giselle very well. She won’t even think twice to end her life.

“Don’t talk, Jiya. Stay behind me,” I calmed her down. She hesitated at first, but she obeyed what I said. I saw Giselle still glaring at her.

“Educate your maid, you wench!” she said angrily. I bit my inner lips. “She did nothing wrong. She was stunned. You get what you wanted, Giselle. What else do you want?” I asked. Her brow rose as she sneered.

“What else do I want?” She moved closer and looked at me up and down. I stood straight and wait for her. I’m not scared of her. “I want you to kneel and kiss my shoes.” I stared at her. What? Jiya held my hand, “You don’t need to do that, my lady.” I close my hand tightly.

Giselle chuckled, “Why? You can’t do that? If you do, I’ll leave your room alone,” she said, smirking devilishly. “My lady, please don’t,” Jiya pleaded. Would she really do that? Will she also leave me alone?

“My lady. Please, I’m begging you. You’re pregnant. And besides, the king told you not to kneel to anyone,” she said with her pleading eyes. I know, Reagan said that the first night he claimed me.

“What did you say? You pleasant?” Giselle said angrily. I looked at her. She seemed embarrassed, but she was doing everything not to show it. It seems like she doesn’t know Reagan gave me that kind of privilege inside this kingdom.

“What I’m saying is, the king favors my lady more than you,” Jiya said fiercely. My eyes widened, “Jiya!” I warned her, but it was too late.

“Seize her!” she ordered. Her servants quickly followed her command. They held Jiya’s arm and made her kneel on the ground.

“No! Stop it! Leave her alone!” I yelled in panic. But it seems like no one is listening to me. “Beat her until I’m satisfied. It seems like she and her master have forgotten their place. I’m Giselle, the Grand Duke’s daughter. Also, the king’s fiancé, how dare you offend me?!”

They started hitting her face. I screamed in horror, “Stop! Let Jiya go! Release her!” I begged. No one is listening. It pains me to see them beating Jiya. I need to stop this.

I tried to get one of the maids out of her, but I ended up getting pushed. My body was about to fall, but a pair of arms caught me.

“What’s happening here?” His voice echoed the whole area. He’s here now. “Glad you’re here, my dear fiancé,” Giselle said, grinning widely.
