I held onto the wall for support as I felt my legs turn to jelly. They weren't even considering what I wanted, they didn't even talk about me like I was a human being, more like a dog or a toy he could use and toss aside anytime he wanted

I felt tears welling up, but I fought them back. I turned slowly, retreating from the balcony, forcing one foot in front of the other.

The way he spoke made my heart ache more than I expected, it was meant to be a distraction, an escape from the pain I should've been feeling the way I did but I couldn't help it.
