Crossroads

Ignorance is bliss, they say.

When you don’t have an idea on what bad things have occurred, you have no ground to be upset. You continue with the status quo you know, avoiding the fact, especially when it hurts or when it’s unacceptable.

To Harper, hiding in the safest keep she could find, everything that’s happening outside was only a part of an annoying nightmare. Anytime now, she’ll wake up. She’ll open her eyes and realize that all of it was over, like an opening act done right the first time.

Harper cradled Hector and thanked the little angel for not making any noise. Outside wasn’t as noisy and chaotic as she expected. What was happening in there? Damon and his two men were clearly outnumbered.

She has been hiding for an hour, and when the 61st minute hit, Harper decided to get up and peek at the window, hoping to see something as good news.

She saw nothing. Could it be possible that none of them advanced and only stayed on that limited area of Middleland?
