Chapter 69

Mr. Smith smiled down at Amelia as his head popped up fully in front of her window. He waved his hand outside her car and asked again, "Where are you going? We just got here!"

Amelia shifted her gaze from him and looked to her left to see his wife also standing beside him. She wore a bright smile and had her hands waving at him.

"Hello, Amelia".

Amelia sighed. It was a relief. She thought she was being chased by Maxwell or worse, he was ready to kidnap her. Her breath was heavy and her mind slowly came to her from the million puddles it had crossed.

"Hello Mr. and Mrs. Smith", she got out of her car and gave them a tight hug.

Mrs Smith was the first to speak after they had stood there engulfing themselves in an embrace.

"What's wrong with your child? You seem all flustered up".

It was hard to explain to her. She smiled instead, "Nothing. I was just rushing to the office".
