THUD!
Amelia heard the sound of the doors meeting the walls. Everyone in the restaurant was curious about who had just made such a noisy entrance. As one of the waitresses, she stood at the counter, her curiosity piqued.
As she turned to see, her eyes met with Maxwell Hills'. It was him and his group of girls, making their usual dramatic entrance. They were undoubtedly the most annoying people in the entire pack.
Maxwell Hills was known for being obnoxious and egoistic, particularly when it came to Amelia. He seemed to take pleasure in belittling her and making her feel small, especially in the place she worked.
Seeing him come in, Amelia dreaded the nasty things he might do this time. She even considered closing her shift early and having someone else fill in for her while he was around. However, that didn't seem possible since there was no one willing to help her that way. Ever since she turned eighteen and hadn't wolfed out like the others, people began looking down on her. They avoided her and warned their children to stay away from her, as if she had some contagious condition preventing her from wolfing out.
The rumors she heard every day were ridiculous. Once, she overheard someone say she was cursed by the moon goddess for not believing in her. Amelia couldn't understand how people came up with such unfounded stories.
Doesn't anyone care about my feelings? Or do I not matter to them at all? Amelia felt completely out of place. The hurtful rumors circulating about her hurt more than anyone could ever understand. Those rumors gave Maxwell, the school bully, enough reasons to target her, and nobody seemed to have a problem with it. Even when she mustered the courage to complain to the elders, they quickly dismissed her as if she wasn't worth their time.
"Hey!" Maxwell's harsh yell pierced the air, directed at Amelia. Trying to shield herself from his attention, she pretended not to hear and focused on anything else but him. With no one stepping in to intervene, she decided to take the next best approach, though unsure of how effective it would be.
"Hey! Bitch! I'm talking to you! Don't you dare ignore me!" His voice grew louder and more aggressive. Before she could react, he forcefully pushed her, treating her like some thug he wanted to fight.
Amelia felt the weight of everyone's eyes on her, yet nobody moved to help. The girls Maxwell had brought with him laughed, reveling in Amelia's embarrassment as they found seats nearby to watch her humiliation.
"Ahhh! Stop! Let go of my hair!" Amelia cried out in pain as Maxwell yanked her hair, pulling her head upwards towards the ceiling. Desperately, she tried to free herself from his grip, her hands struggling to pry his fingers away, but his strength overwhelmed her.
Amelia knew he was much more taller than her and she observed him towering over her, his dark hair cascading down the back of his neck. As he tightened his grip on her hair, a sharp pain shot through her, causing tears to stream uncontrollably down her cheeks. She cried out, hoping that someone strong would intervene, but she felt powerless against his force.
"Please, let go of my hair," she pleaded, struggling to break free from his hold.
In response, Maxwell sneered at her, calling her names and accusing her of ignoring him. His grip tightened even more, causing Amelia to wince in pain. She tried to speak, to reason with him, but her voice came out as a whisper.
"Yes," she managed to say through her tears, acknowledging his demands.
Finally, he released his hold on her, and Amelia stumbled back. Looking down, she saw strands of her hair scattered on the ground. The pain in her scalp was unbearable, and she feared that some of her hair had been forcibly ripped out.
Trembling, she reached up to touch the tender area, praying it wasn't bleeding. But as her fingers met her scalp, she felt warm moisture. It was blood. The realization made her heart race, and she couldn't help but feel terrified of what he might do next.
Maxwell laughed along with his cartel of girls. Some other customers in the restaurant laughed as well. Even the chef behind the counter, laughed. They all laughed at her pain. It hurt her more than when her hair was pulled out. Not only had they stood by, they had also enjoyed her misery.
Anger consumed Amelia. Without thinking, she charged at Maxwell screaming. But, with only a movement of his arms, he slapped her away. She fell on the ground in thorough pain, crying. She could hear people laughing. They must have found it really funny.
He had hit her so hard in the head that she couldn’t see clearly. Her eyesight was blurry at first. She had to wait there on the ground for some minutes.
“Did you really think…” Maxwell struggled to complete his question as he laughed. “Like hell!” Everyone laughed harder when he said that. “Did you really think you are a match for me?” He walked towards where he had thrown her to. He kicked her fragile body.
“You scum! What makes you think you are a match for me? What!” He kept on kicking her repeatedly. “Now, take your lazy ass off that expensive floor and get me my steak!” He yelled out his order with one final kick to her belly. It only made her curl. Her hands wrapped themselves around her belly in reflex. The pain there was more.
The crazy thing about it all was that there was only one person bullying her. But, it felt like everyone in the entire restaurant was.
Though Amelia was a werewolf that hadn’t wolfed out, she healed faster than anyone in the pack. Ever since she was thirteen, she had always been a fast healer. That was why the injuries caused by Maxwell’s bullying healed after a few minutes. She stopped bleeding on her head, and the pain in her body disappeared.
Soon, she stood up like nothing happened. She went to the chef to collect his order and serve it to him and his cartel.
“Better.” Maxwell muttered before he noticed that there was no mark of his bullying on her. His eyes narrowed down at her. That was one of the things he hated about her.
She checked the time to see her shift was over. If Only it had ended before Maxwell came in. She quickly took off her apron and gloves. She was done for the day. She wasn't sure if she had the werewolves’ speed, but she was sure that she ran out of there quickly. So fast, they probably didn’t notice she had taken a box of snacks with her.
While Amelia ran for the next few minutes, she expected them to catch up to her, punish her. But, there was none of them at her back. They must have not noticed the box missing out of the many boxes in the kitchen.
Her life had never been better. But, she never thought it might get any worse. But, it did. Things she never thought would happen, happened that evening.
She was on her way back home when it happened. She didn’t know what was going wrong until she reached the front of her home. Standing in front of it were many people, whispering and poking around.
People didn’t usually visit them. So, she wondered why there were a lot of them around. Cautiously, she walked towards them to find out what was going on. She didn’t get what was happening until she saw two carts being rolled out of the house. Before they covered the faces of the bodies in them, she saw that it was her parents.
"No." She breathed out.
"Mom! Dad!... No no no. This can’t be happening to me. This can’t be happening to me!” Amelia cried out. “What happened?”No one answered her. They only stared at her. She had no choice but to follow them onto the bus and ask the nurses there.“What happened to them?” Amelia asked them desperately, seeking an answer.“We received a report that a group of rogues came by and attacked them. There are no signs of transformation. That only means they didn’t get the chance to transform. The story is still unclear. So, I’ll advise you to listen only to what the investigator says. Theirs will be more accurate.” One of the nurses told her. While they were in the bus, Amelia watched her parents struggle to breathe properly. Though the nurses tried to help out, none of what they did helped. Instead, her parents slowly died before her eyes. She watched their lives slowly slip away from them. Speechless and frozen at the spot, her thoughts were blank, and she felt strangely numb. The feeling of gr
Their alpha was a caring one. He had stopped the rate of bullying in the pack. But, since it was in the werewolves’ nature to bully the weak and respect the strong, he couldn’t eradicate bullying entirely. Regardless of the alpha's concern, Amelia was scared of ratting out on Maxwell Hills. Who knows the things he would do to her next if she reported him? He might even have her killed and thrown into a deep river. People might not even notice since her parents, the only people that cared about her, were dead.“Tell me, little girl. I’ll make sure you’re protected. I just need to make an example of what I’ll do to those who defy me!” He yelled his last sentence at those werewolves in the courtroom. This sparked murmuring words in the huge room. Amelia was also as shocked as everyone else. She knew the alpha was kind. But, she thought he would follow the ancient tradition and make her a slave. That was the usual punishment for attempted suicide. The logic behind it all was that if th
Alex, the Lycan king, sat on his throne, looking at the scrying orb. He needed to find out the whereabouts of a certain man he had been chasing for years. This man had somehow harvested the power to control mindless rogues. This was an urgent issue he needed to resolve as soon as possible. If this man was given the slightest opportunity, he might destroy the peace Alex had worked hard for. He was a very thorough king. If he wanted something gone, he dealt with it from the source. This time, the cause of the trouble was a man hiding somewhere from him, plotting his next attack. He did not have much information on him, so it frustrated him to no end. He was busy trying to track him down when his trusted advisor, Parton, came into the throne room to inform him about something very important.“You didn’t knock, Parton,” Alex remarked, filled with anger. He stood in his full height and faced his advisor. "Now, give me a reason why I shouldn’t send you to the moon goddess right now." He w
A bang on the door made Amelia jitter. She was deep in thought of how her life was going to be from them on. She had found her mate for goodness sake. She deserved to be happy."Amelia" whoever it was banged the door again, "Open this door, I need to see you"Amelia shook her head. Was it wise to oep the door to her room at such a late hour. Who was it anyway?Amelia stood up to check. She walked to the door and then closed one eye to peer though the doorhole through the other. "Maxwell" she sighed. She pressed on the door knobe and opened the door immediately. Her mate was here."Amelia. How are you doing?" He slurred his words. He looked half awake and yet deeply asleep. Was he drunk?"Amelia, I've missed you so much""I've missed you too" she smiled. It was surprising to see how fast Maxwell had changed ever since the judgment from the alpha. He was acting like a different man––– a different werewolf actually."Come sit" she dragged him gently toward the bed. Amelia had made su
Amelia closed the door behind her with one hand. It was also one of her special talents as a waitress. Many times, customers would order in the very important person room and she would be required to take them to the customers. Ok getting there, she needed to use one hand to open the door."Maxwell, I am back with your hangover soup" she said in a soft soothing voice. "I hope you like it" Silence struck the room without delay."Maxwell?" She called out but still, there was no response."Maxwell??!!" Her once gentle voice was gradually developing into a scream. "Maxwell, where are you?"Her anxiety began to increase when she dropped the food tray with it's soup inside, to search for Maxwell.Had he been so drunk he fell inside the bathroom and died? Her heart panicked. Her eyes widened in shock, what would the pack say?Was this the way Maxwell's family had said they would take him out of the mess of a mateship they were in?Amelia's head felt like it was about to spin when she saw
Maxwell slumped backwards into the bed. He started to foam from the mouth or was it saliva? The alcohol must have been too much to handle. That or he was just acting."You bastard!" Amelia didn't fret. She bent forward and slapped him. He didn't think for a second that his unconsciousness would make him escape what she had in mind for him."You. Think. I'm. So. Easy. Cheap. Slut" with every pronunciation of the words, Amelia slapped him as hard as her hand could swing. Her full power was at work. Maxwell moaned with each swing she gave to him. It annoyed Amelia the most that he would dare try to moan while she was hitting him. She wanted to get up and hit him with something harder. Maybe a plank, if she could but she couldn't. She wouldn't dare. Her life still depended on him.He was her mate."You dumb bastard!" She yelled in frustration. Her anger was piling up. She needed to vent it somewhere else. "Maybe hitting him some more would help!"Amelia took a pillow from underneath hi
The club seemed crowded enough. It had every kind of person Amelia could have thought she would see.The loud and funky ones were in the middle, directly under the shiny globe that rotated nicely. The ones that looked calm and chill sat proudly at the back. They were in the VIP section, seated with their ladies on their laps. They had expensive bottles in front of them, sipping slowly from their cups. They looked rugged. Too rugged for her. One of them even looked like he was related to Maxwell, all buffed and angry. Surely, he was a bully and she didn't want that. They were others that she noticed as she walked to the bar and took a seat. The bartender poured her a drink and she pulled the glass towards herself."This is on the house" he said with a smile. He looked mischievous, which should have sent a sign to Amelia but she ignored it."Hmmmm, it tastes good," she said after a sip. She lied. Amelia had only ever tasted alcohol once and it was when she first started walking as
Amelia jerked off him. She blinked twice and asked him to repeat what he meant."Excuse me?!"The stranger moved closer to her with a smile."I didn't mean to piss you off, what I was trying to say was that you're so beautiful and I wouldn't want to lose you"Amelia calmed down immediately. She drew a deep breath and exhaled slowly. He wasn't a threat."I thought you were coming on to me as a threat" she backed away again. Mr M smiled. He still a advanced towards her. Step by step, he took her by the shoulder. His touch was gently and soft. Amelia nearly melted."I like you Amelia, I think you're such a beautiful girl. The one I've been looking for. How about you and I talk inside?"Amelia's eyes became drowsy. The alcohol kicked in. She was feeling lightheaded and thirsty. Her eyes turned red."Is this your first time drinking?"Mr M leaned into her ear. She nodded. He giggled, "I can see it. You're not a bad girl"His laugh made Amelia suddenly get upset."Excuse me?!" She slapped hi
Amelia's belly has grown twice in size since the last time she had seen the doctor. She was almost due and had to call him in for a checkup again. "You'll be having a girl this time", the doctor touched on her stomach. He felt a kick and raised his head to smile at her, "Your baby is doing great too".Alex, who stood by her with her hands interlock in his, stepped forward. "Is there anything we need to do to prepare for the coming of the baby?".The doctor shook his head. Alex was not satisfied. "Any scan? Any treatment? Any test for her at all?".The doctor still shook his head, "Your baby is fine and she will be fine too" he pointed to Amelia.Amelia saw the nervousness in his eyes. She held his hand tightly and reassured him again, "Trust me. I'll be fine. This isn't my first rodeo you know". She flashed him her white teeth. That calmed Alex. He leaned in for a kiss and went back to standing by her side. The check up was over and they both got ready to leave. Alex sat in front wi
Amelia was led only to Alpha Alex's chambers. He had her wear a blindfold and carefully guided her steps to the bed."Sit".Gently, she sat on the edge of the bed, waiting for what would happen next. Her heart was beating profusely while she swiped her tongue on her lips to wet them."How did you know about all of this?" Amelia tried to start a conversation. "I never left you. I had you in my mind the whole time and I am never going to leave". He bent a knee and dipped his hand into his pocket."Open your eyes, Amelia", he said to her while he positioned well. "I want you to be my wife again. My love for you has never left. Let us renew our vows".Amelia took off her blindfold to find the love of her life kneeling before her. Those eyes were sincere and kind. She held her breath and covered her mouth. "What are you doing?""I'm asking you to be my mate again. Love me like I was dying. Please, marry me".Amelia swallowed down. Her cheeks turned red. "You're making me smile"."Yes, a
Amelia watched all that was happening with an open mouth. All her sadness had seeped out of her as she was now surprised."We are giving you one last chance, Sandra. You better confess".Sandra hissed many times as she felt a sting in her side. It was getting worse. Her flesh was now half gone. "Give me a shot. I'm in pain!".A nurse moved to her. She wanted to administer something but the alpha stopped her. He looked into Sandra's eyes, "Confess or you will die alone and before all of us".Tears rolled down Sandra's eyes. She looked over at Amelia, "This is all because of you"."You wouldn't let me have the man of my dreams".Alex blocked off her view. "You make it seem like she had been the one who forced you to have the kind of life you wanted. Do you not know I have been watching you?".He snapped his finger and the guard she had been with approached them."Say hello to Cornell. He is my cousin but I made sure you didn't know about him. You and Cornell made love last night. Didn
Amelia ran through the woods as the sun began to rise. She had been running restlessly, searching for a clue of who could have taken her baby but found no success. Her breath was getting deeper. She stopped to draw in a new one. "Where could her baby be?".She thought of going back to Maxwell. He might have had a clue, but she was not so sure. She wanted to ask for help from Alex. He would have been concerned in times like this but she could not also go back to him. Her oath still held her back. Filled with frustration and anger, Amelia sat by a river bank and began to cry."How about you go meet the Alpha? He might be able to help after all." " her wolf whispered to her. Amelia stopped to think, "But we aren't allowed to meet with him"."You're not allowed to meet as lovers or mate but that shouldn't stop you from meeting and asking for help. What if he could be the only one to help?".Her wolf made a valuable point to her. Amelia sprung up on her feet and began to make her way to A
Alex sat comfortably on his bed. He heard a knock on the door and walked over to open it. "Have you gotten it?", He said as he unlocked the door and pulled it open. The rogue walked through with a baby in its hands. He still had his dark cloak on which covered his face.He stopped by a chair and then handed the sleeping child to Alex."I found what you had wanted. You will keep to your part of the deal right?"."Of course. You have helped me and I will do as you please". He smiled, "However, do you still wish to go on with your revenge?"."I came to help you out because of the genuine love I saw you have for your mate, I bargained for you to help my people while I sacrificed myself"."I know but must you take your life also?" Alex took the baby from his hand. The child was fast asleep, making light snores as he cradled up on Alex's broad chest."I have to". He turned around and walked to the door. He stopped when he placed his hands on the doorknob. "I am taking you as a man of you
Sandra's spy made his way to her room. He was known for being stealthy and that was the reason she had picked him as hers in the first place."What do you find?" she asked as soon as she saw him. His eyes met hers underneath his mask. She could see those but not his lips. No one had ever seen his lips."Alpha Alex had someone come into his chambers when you were not around".He mumbled underneath the mask.Sandra sprang up on her feet. "Did you find out who it was and what they brought to him?"."No".She drew in a deep breath and walked to him. "What's the use of having a spy like you if you can not get simple things done?".Her spy stood still. He apologized after he was scolded.Sandra groaned. "I don't take 'sorries', you have to compensate for this somehow. She moved closer to him. His scent became more prominent. She drew in all of it."How can I please you, Luna?".She watched him say. Her eyes looked at where she had expected his lips to be and then gradually, her eyes fell t
Amelia felt rage coursing through her veins. She swallowed hard and tightened her grip on the rope she had on her wrist."Where is my son?"."He's fine. What did you hear?", She could see Maxwell's fingertips shaking. His chin shivered. He moved a step backward. Blood dripping from her mouth and nose made her look ferocious. The blueness in her eyes had turned dark. Her entire eye socket has turned back. Her fangs sprung forth and her tongue lengthened. Her claws grew in size and darkened. They turned black. She raised her head up and slowly looked into his eyes as she gritted her voice, "I said.. where is my son?".Maxwell felt the hair on the back of his neck stand. Suddenly, he felt fear tie a knot in his stomach. He had never seen Amelia, the weakling, this way. She looked like she could kill him with those eyes.He stepped back, dropped the whip he had in his hand, and ran away. His wolf had been wounded and he had no time to recover. If he dared to attack her, he might not win.
Amelia hid herself behind a tree as she tried to control her breath. It was getting dark and she had been on the run for hours. Her eyes felt weary and her body was tired. She didn't have anywhere to go but she had to keep moving."He would never forgive me for this". She squatted down. She heaved a sigh and closed her eyes."Think Amelia. Where can you go and how can you get your child back?" Amelia slapped her head lightly. She heard her footsteps coming behind her. Her eyes clicked open. Someone was nearby. She prayed to the moon goddess, "Not today. Not today please. Save me".But the moon goddess didn't listen. Something grabbed her by the neck and pulled her backward."You thought you could run away from me, didn't you?"He shook her and pulled her hair. "You didn't think I would get back at you for this, did you?"His pull was hurting her, he was almost ripping her hair out of her head."Maxwell you're hurting me!" He pulled harder. Maxwell dragged her by the hair until he
The night had covered and Alex had changed into a darker outfit. He had to blend with the night if he didn't want to be spotted. He marched into the night and shifted his form. He needed to be stealthy and swift so he moved with speed but made no noise. The wind blew in his face but his vision was unwavering. His eyes were as sharp as day. He perched on a tree next to the mirror cave, waiting to see what was going to happen."Who could it be?".He waited for minutes until finally, something crept into the cave. He saw it. Dark, thin, and sneaky. He could not make out a face because of the black cloak it wore but he knew for sure that it was not a member of his pack."I have to find out who it is?"It seemed like a trap but a trap worth getting into if he could get Amelia back was one he was willing to risk himself in. He jumped down.Slowly and quietly, he shifted forms back to his human self and straightened his back. Alex looked around for any living thing in the area and when he sa
