“Oh, I missed.” The witch casually leaned against a tree but kept her firm stare on him. “Remember I did so because of the Princess so don’t bother and for God's sake, wear something.” As Laylin had torn his shirt, he was only in a pair of pants.

He wasn’t an exhibitionist but he had nothing to wear. He had concluded he would wear something after he had taught those sneaky pests a lesson.

A lesson he should have taught them sooner.

Ambrose scrunched his brows. His demon shadow was this fast that in a blink of an eye, he had strangled the previous Royal Family without anyone having time to flinch.

The former Royals had two Princes decades older than him and a Beast King renowned for his savage hunting skills. When his demon had lunged at them, they hadn't seen it coming.

There was no way this witch was sensitive enough to predict his moves.

“This barrier. You know what goes on inside.” He was impressed by the extent the woman was equipped with her witch aura.

He wasn’t naive in

Her eyes fell on him. She couldn’t believe she had been living with this man for months and still, they fought like cats and dogs. Her angelic image in Ehan wasn’t a lie. She was a calm person who had a rational mindset but this man riled her up like a street urchin. "Lock me? You dare!" Laylin was speechless. "Have you forgotten, I'm not a pitiful human? As of today, I'll stop living as such either." She huffed, seeing his left eye twitch. "Your people won't stand by when you raise your sword on the White Wolf, they will stand in your way!" Despite struggling to breathe, the Older Witch tried to smile. Esmer felt her heart swell at the brave Princess standing up for herself. "It won't matter when they are dead." “Huh.” A headache was blinding her in one eye. “Nothing gets through you! Have you forgotten why you made me your mistress? Because your people are blinded by superficial beliefs! How do you think your people will react when you kill the White Wolf of the legends?!” She

“Seriously, are you going to be like this?” She scoffed, unable to believe it. He looked back at the Ehanian Princessfor a brief moment. She looked as exquisite as ever, even when she was dressed in murky rags. No matter how mesmerizing she was, it didn’t change the fact she had betrayed him. That was a nail that irked his heart every time he looked at her dazzling bright blue eyes. He was weak to her so he was trying to see her as littleas possible. He didn’t wish to hurt her even with the shimmering fury that he had right under his skin. Turning back to the barrier, he mumbled. “It’s too dangerous for you.” A few hours later, after he had agreed to coorporate if they could aid his people and deal with the wizard. The compliance was mostly because he had no idea how to counter the tricks of that wizard who weilded with dark arts. And if, the door to the Other World was really opened he couldn’t close it with sheer force. If he had a witch with him, he would at least know what

On the other hand, left with no other choice, Ambrose cursed at his dumb head to trust a witch yet again when it hadn’t been a week since he was poisoned by one. The black energy surrounding his body shifted, and his beast, in the shape of a giant humunoid wolf wounded around the king’s body. His heavy body slowed Ambrose’s fall as he leaped down in a creek, the ruined Execution Place had given birth to and absorbed the shock as soon as his paws landed on the ground. “What fallacy!” The snake like creature that was crawling, half swinging in air launched towards the King. It was getting enormous in size by the second or maybe it seemed that way when he was this close. Even the King knew a beast this size won’t go down easy, he needed a weakness and naturally he jumped up to pluck it’s eyes out. Ambrose was quick to make slash in a quick unexpected leap and the monster unexpectedly shrieked and flailed about as it took the blow. Blue shimmery liquid from the cut bled out. The woun

The moment they left, Laylin stood glaring at the barrier. She tried to unlodge the spell but it only backfired. Her aura was exhausted before she knew. Though she had been too speechless to tell him how agonizing these days were for her, she was worried. The Princess was annoyed with his rude behaviour but mostly her heart ached. She shouldn’t have poisoned him but she knew even if she changed back time a million times she would choose to leave him. The life she had in the Place was miserable and pathetic. She ate, heard his servant belittle her for ruining their Royal prestige and slept with him. She had no dignity or purpose. Was love all that? Was love enough to endure all this and then die? Did he expect her to be miserable and grateful at the same time? It scratched her heart, her heart tickled whenever she was devoured and lost herself with him. But every next morning, she resented herself. It felt like he saw nothing but her body. Like she was another tool to be used a

Rurik was jolted awake by the horrific screams of a woman. Frantically he looked around only to see the Princess withering on the sofa with her eyes glazed silver. He at once crawled back. The scene was horrific. She looked possessed. “What the freaking hell is this?” He mumbled. His head was splitting with a headache and the Princess, who was screaming her lungs out, was engulfed in blue flames. The pulsing energy out of her body didn’t make the creepy situation any better. “Princess! Are you okay?” He tried calling her several times but with she didn’t respond at all. He turned and frantically looked around. “Esmer! Where are you? Something is wrong with the Princess!” On his feet, he ran wild in all directions, but neither Esmer nor Ambrose were anywhere to be found. He looked around the room the King was occupying. Dumbfounded, he ran a hand through his hair and tried to make sense of anything. He remembered trying to kill the King… No, he wasn't the king. He was a demon. A

There was no consolation for him. Ambrose was livid, like he would tear the man to pieces that instant. He was bathed in the shimmery blue-black blood of the monsters. He looked terrifying. He was quick to lunge at him, lifting him off the ground to squeeze the insignificant life out of him. He grabbed the man by the throat and his claws extended. The cries of Esmer and Laylin resonated in the hut. They knew it was only a matter of time before life slipped out of Rurik. “Sire, no! He was only helping me!” Laylin, who was terrified of his maddening rage, suddenly jolted and shook him. “I would be dead in that bird if he hadn’t woken me!” He was blinded with anger at her bloodied swollen cheek that nothing sounded rational to him anymore. His demon shadow extended and grabbed the man’s limbs, with strength enough to snap them. Now that he was aware Laylin and those present in the hut knew of his origin. He felt no need to restrain himself. It wasn’t like he had a reputation to upho

The shrill holler of wind was deafening and Ambrose at once took his chance pushing Esmer inside the narrow secret passage. He was carrying Laylin who had passed out suddenly. She was burning with a high fever. He grimaced looking at her but kept his eyes firmly in front of him . Getting out of here is the priority now. Esmer who was at the entrance had her eyes clouded. She was trying to bring back the knight. Scoffing at her, he kept moving forward. He didn’t care for both of them. They could as well both be caught and dealt with. They weren’t trustworthy and both seem to be having ulterior motives. He vaguely remembered diving deep to the knight’s lifeline to quench it when he was unconscious. It was utterly possible that the knight had tried to sneakily attack him. The thing with his demon shadow was that it was mostly instinctive unless he deliberately tried to control it. So if he was unconscious or was out of it, he won’t even recall what had happened around him but his de

“He’s not taking us to a burial site or… is he?” Rurik murmured. Esmer pursed her lips, unsure. “He… probably won’t.” “But… it’s been hours.” No water pipes were supposed to be that long as the whole purpose of these was to get the water supply faster. Especially these were too wide to be just waterpipes. This looked mostly like a passage for escape in case there was an ambush, not to mention the entryway was buried under a lot of debris. They had to dig it out. Esmer wondered if this was going to be their grave without any tombstone. After several turns and crossroads, they walked and climbed the pipelines for hours. Esmer felt like she would pass out any minute. “Is there even a way through or are you just kidding us?” Esmer loudly confronted him. They had been voicing their protests for a while now and the mighty King had been ignoring them quite conveniently till now. They were freezing in their thin attire despite Esmer’s aura warming them. They hadn’t eaten for a while a

It happened when all soldiers lost hope and thought they were fighting a battle with the fate to be defeated. ‘BOOOM!’ ‘THUD! THWACK! THUD!’ An explosion collapsed the outer wall of the palace and dark wizards and soldiers alike flooded in water crushing through from who-knows-where. But shock registered when they met the eyes of the person standing where the wall once stood. “I see. I almost missed all the fun.” There stood Princess Laylin scowling at her torn dress getting wet and an equally pissed woman behind her. “Did you really have to go this far? Every man on the ground, thanks to the knee-high water flooding the palace, was shocked at the carefree women barging in as if they were taking a stroll in the garden. She kept her hand on her belly and smiled solemnly. He was a piece of her and her husband. An heir to her lover. “Ahh.. To be young. Though I don’t really like the man, I certainly despise him less than your mother does. I’m not much of a success as a Red Witch so I have no such obsession with bloodlines or species. I just care for my family.” Laylin bit her bottom lip, shrugging. “Mother is... She will come around.” “Hmm, hope so. But I see... you look madly in love.” Berilla teased, looking at her distracted expression. "It must hurt your pride to love him more than he loves you." “What? No!” Laylin rolled her eyes, her smile still playing on her lips. “He’s the one who is chasing me. I just set my grace on my eager lover.“ She was flexing when both of them knew, Laylin was crazy enough in love to dive head-first in a war zone or in front of a raging monster. Laylin looked away. Her smile deepened. She did love him more but it didn't matter as long as he loved her back. A silen

The palace stood tall and imposing, its marble columns reaching the sky. Laylin was expecting, he could feel his spawn growing stronger by the day. ‘SHIIINGG!’He walked solemnly, his two long swords dragging behind him. Electric zapping brutally filled the silence as his swords screeched.Previously when he had imagined her carrying his heir, he had wanted to keep her on feathery cushions day in and day out, lavish her with jewels but now he wanted to kiss her the path she walked on.He had no patience left for morons. His Queen was carrying the future King and she deserved better than a humid cave.As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a golden hue over the palace walls, Ambrose stood lonely at the grand entrance. The military he had himself cultivated stood before him, pointing trembling spears

"N-No, please!” The startled young witch screamed and poured her aura in with all her strength as her life flashed before her. ‘FWISSSH…’ The witch toppled back on her ass, waiting to die but as the creature collided with the magic circle it emitted a bright, blinding light. The monster's movements slow, and it gradually, in a fraction of a second, evaporated in the air. It became quiet and all the witches huffed in disbelief, as if under a spell. “Good work.” Laylin turned to the witches with a smile. “This is how any witch, weak or strong, can make the teleportation magic circle.” She clapped her hands, “Well, nobody’s dead, so let’s go under the lake.” It may sound twisted but she enjoyed their fear especially Valerie who was pale. She felt gleefully satisfied. Now, sure, no one will question her about the potency of her magic circle. She felt bad for Eloise but it couldn’t be helped, she was the weakest witch and thus the perfect person to show them the spell worked. Seizing

With a deep sigh, she went to the young Princess. “You think you can handle it after all the… commotion?” She was talking about the things she heard them talk about. The Eldest of the Red Witches looked at the Princess with a faint smile. Laylin remained still. Her countenance was quite ample as she looked ahead at the lake in front of her.Ultimately it didn’t matter if Laylin could or couldn’t. She will have to. For the sake of everyone. For the future.Valerie sighed, “We can do it ourselves too.” Laylin knew it too.The witches could very well pull off a teleportation spell but they didn’t trust her or the magic circle she had drawn especially after Aunt Berilla couldn’t perform the designation spell. The battle with demonic monsters will take more than just technique, hesitation could cost these witches their lives.Only Laylin knew Berila couldn't do it because the Great Mistress had made that spell to pull her into the memory abyss. So the witches needed to believe any of them

‘AAACK!' She pointed the dagger at him and flicked it down. His leg bent at an unnatural angle, his bone stuck out bringing him into a half-kneeling position. “Keep it down. I don’t want a commotion.” She was so calm that it was creepy. Her lazy eyes fell on the Dark Wizard and she smirked. The Dark Wizard tried to cast a spell but nothing worked, he couldn’t take anything as the source. The Dark Wizard had little to no aura or couldn’t control their auras like Valerie. There are two sources for using magic. One is auras that are taken from nature and one is life sources. Dark magicians fuel their magic with life forces which means they kill to do magic. But it doesn’t have to be beasts or humans, depending on the magnitude of the spell even insects can be used for simple spells. She had protected every living being with her aura in the perimeter. Her snake rubbed its head against her neck, and she caressed its scales with a smirk. She enjoyed the Dark wizard's desperate attempts
