KEIRAN’s POV.

I strolled into Akira's quarters after ensuring that Kael was nowhere close, a wide smile plastered on my face. "Hey, Akira. What's up?"

Akira's eyes narrowed her hand on the dagger at her waist. "Keiran. What do you want?"

I chuckled, my eyes on hers. "Oh, I think you know why I'm here, Akira. You're a smart girl."

"I don't know what you're talking about," she said, her voice firm, her hand still on the dagger.

I laughed, the sound low and husky, yet chilling. "Don't play dumb, Akira. It doesn't suit you.”

“I am serious, I have no idea why you are. Get lost.” She hissed.

I took a step closer, my eyes never leaving hers. "You know exactly why I'm here. And you know what I want."

Akira's eyes blazed with anger, but I just smiled. It was time to put my plan into action. No more long talks, let’s get down to business.

I raised my hand, my fingers moving as I cast a spell. Akira's eyes glazed over, her pupils dilating as she fell under my control.

AKIRA’s POV.I sat on my bed, staring blankly into space, my mind blurry, my head spinning like crazy but somehow I did not fall off the bed. I didn't know how I got there or what happened before. Everything felt weird, my head was foggy, and it was like a dream that I couldn't wake up from. But it wasn't a dream, was it? It felt too real, too vivid, everything was there.I tried to remember, but my mind was blank and my brain refused to help. Panic started to set in as I tried very hard to join pieces of what happened. Why did I feel like I was in a trance? Why did I feel so unusual and weird like I was not myself?"Think, Akira, think," I muttered to myself, trying to shake off the fear that now took control of my mind. But the more I tried to remember, the more my head hurt. I stood up, deciding to clear my head with a trip to the bathroom. Maybe some cold water on my face would help me snap out of this trance-like state. As I walked in, I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror

KAEL'S POVI stood in the doorway, my eyes fixed on Akira as the guard's hand gripped her arm. A growl rose in my throat, and I took a step forward, my voice low and menacing. "Leave her."The guard hesitated, his eyes darting to mine before releasing Akira's arm. "I'm sorry, my alpha, but the Council has demanded—""I said leave!" I hissed, my patience getting thin. The guard bowed his head in submission, his face pale, as I took another step forward.I turned to face Akira and I could see the fear in her beautiful eyes that glistened with unshed tears. She was innocent, someone framed her for this. "Akira, come here," I said, my voice softer now, more gentle. She hesitated, then took a step forward, her eyes never leaving mine. I could see as she relaxed her shoulders, she had faith that I would protect her. And I would, I had to.As she reached my side, I wrapped my arm around her shoulders, pulling her close, one hand on her waist, the other on her back slowly caressing. "You're

I couldn't shake the feeling that Zephyr was hiding something. Did he send me the letter or does he have something to do with the contents of the letter?"I'll be back soon," I said to Akira, trying to reassure her. I would have known if someone was controlling me." I sat down beside her and brought her head to my shoulders. "Not if they were using dark magic, Akira. It's powerful, and it can manipulate even the strongest of men." Akira shook her head, her voice trembling. "I don't know what's happening to me, Kael. I feel like I'm losing my mind. I… I feel like I am losing myself.” I took her hand in mine and gave it a soft reassuring squeeze. "You're not losing your mind, Akira. You're a victim of dark magic. AKIRA’s POV. I sat on the edge of Kael's bed, my mind reeling with thoughts. How did things go so wrong? One moment, I was defending myself against Kaida's harsh words and accusations, and the next, I was accused of murdering her. I knew I was innocent, but no one seemed to believe me. I massaged my temples, trying to get rid of the headache that was coming. I had been in a trance-like state, and when I finally woke up, I was accused of being a murderer. I didn’t even step out of my room that day, then how can I possibly kill her? The last time we met, we argued about the wrongs she and Keiran were doing but I did not kill her! "Akira, you need to eat," Kael said, his voice soft and gentle. He placed a tray of food in front of me, but I pushed it away. "I'm not hungry," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. Kael sighed and sat down beside me. "You need to keep your strength up. You don't know what's going to happen next. The council has some dumbasses that are after

"Akira was furious, and Kaida was... well, Kaida was being her usual self mad and taunting.” I raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?" Zephyr cleared his throat before he spoke again. "You know how Kaida was, always causing trouble and arguing with Akira. But Akira... she was different. She was angry, but she was also agitated." I frowned, intrigued. " agitated or scared ?" Keiran’s POV. I stood up from the couch, my eyes fixed on the guards as they searched my house. My anxiety only got worse with each passing second. After Kael left, the guards seemed to double their efforts. I knew I had hidden all the things that would be of help to them, but I still could not help the fear that slowly took hold of me. What if they found something that I carelessly left? And why did Kael have to excuse himself for some time? Where did he go? I thought back to the moment Kael entered my quarters, his eyes scanning the room as if he knew what he was searching for. But what did it mean to him? And why did he have to speak with Akira afterward? In private, no less. My mind raced with questions, each one more unsettling than the last. I didn't like being in the dark, not when it came to things that affected me directly. And this... this was something big. Why would Kael side with me and refuse to search Zephyr only for him to give an order that I should

Seconds turned into minutes and soon the chariot stopped in front of Lyra’s house.“You can go back,” I said dismissing the guard, who bowed his head and turned to leave.I knocked on the door, and a soft voice called out, "Enter." I pushed open the door and stepped inside. Miya’s house was dimly lit, the air filled with the scent of herbs and smoke."Kael, what brings you here?" Miya asked, her eyes gleaming in the dim light. She sat behind a cluttered desk, surrounded by strange objects, carvings and a pot situated in a corner of the room sizzled and hissed."The murder case," I replied, taking a seat across from her. I pulled out the picture from my pocket and placed it on the desk. "I need your help on this."Miya's expression turned serious as she picked up the picture. "A photograph... of Kaida."
