ASHER’S POVThe only sound in the room was the constant tick of the clock and the chirp of the birds outside. Her face was filled with beads of sweat, covered in perspiration. I took a magazine right beside me and began to fan her beautiful face. Ever since the Pack doctor discovered the chip and had taken it out, she had been getting better since then.Everything about her was changing for the better and I couldn't wait to have her restored to a better condition. My thoughts were broken when she stirred. Her face looked a bit troubled as if she was having one of her nightmares about Alpha Lance and his son, her tormentors.Anytime I saw her in that condition reminded me why I should do everything to make sure that I avenged her, that I should catch them alive and as soon as the war was over and make their life a living hell, in such a way that nobody would forget. My jaws clenched with hatred hatred as I stared into space. Inwas snapped out of my thoughts again when she stirred a sec
LIA'S POV"Sure, of course. I can, at least I am no longer afraid of them. Everything feels pretty much better now, even though I still get those recurring dreams." I said, glancing at him. I was very surprised at the way my body had responded to treatments lately, despite the nagging pain that I felt in my neck.It felt like it had been opened and a part of me had been taken out. I wondered if I had undergone some kind of surgery but I kept it to myself. Asher probably wouldn't be happy if I asked too many questions considering my present condition. He had been through a lot because of me, and he was even willing to do more because of me.Nobody had ever lived me that way. And I never envisaged that my mate would be an Alpha, talk more of being this protective. I concluded at the end that I was very lucky. Where I got baffled was that he still did all this 4ven after what Alpha Ryan made him see when he had come to rescue me.I was surprised as well when he opened up to me, telling t
LIA'S POVJust then the door opened and the priest sauntered into the room, flanked by two other guards. He was carrying what looked like an old scribe. I wondered how old the book was and what it contained. They walked towards us and he stopped just right in front of Asher."You sent for me, Alpha." He said, lowering his head in reverence. "Yes, you are needed right now." He replied before gesturing to him to come after us while asking me to walk in front of him."So you were telling me about the conditions I am expected to keep to get better. When are you going going let me know what they are?" I asked him but he was quiet for a few seconds before he answered."This is not the right time, Lia. You should be thinking about what's about to happen. That will come later when you have recovered from the rejection." He explained. "Recovered? Is there something you're telling me? Is this very bad or am I going to be used like some lab experiment?" I asked, looking at him incredulously."No
LIA'S POVThe bed and the sheets dipped the kkemnt he stood up to leave. Also, the feeling of warmth that had surrounded me suddenly seemed to disappear even though the room had grown quite hot at the moment. I turned immediately towards him and asked."Where are you going?" I pouted as he was smiling."Got some things to take care of about the war." His raspy voice said before he looked back at the door."But you said that things were already OK Because I had rejected his Pack. Isn't that what you said to me?" I asked him while introspection if that's what he had actually said. And it was. There was nothing else he had said to me back then. He soon began to explain himself, which made me breathe out a frustrated sigh."Yes you have rejected him Pack but we still have to make sure that the Pack is protected. We won't be as strict as before, so there won't be much work. Just a few things that would lure them and that's all." He said, slowly walking back to the bed. He sat gently beside
⁸ASHER'S POVLia didn't seem to want any human interaction when I got out. The locking of the door immediately I got out signified that she wanted to be left alone. William and I ambled down the stairs on the way to the Packhouse. Lia's Chambers and that of the servants preceded the Packhouse, so it was a long walk.As soon as we got there, we sat down to discuss where we would meet that morning. At this time, nobody was still up. The Pack was still silent and the moon was slowly giving way to say. The merry chirp of the birds was the only thing that could be heard outside, and of course the banners of warriors as they went about, preparing to go into training."So where do you suggest the meeting takes place? It's very important that we get this done now so we won't have to worry about strategies and all that again." I asked William as I was feeling a bit disinterested about the whole thing.I needed to get myself out of the feeling of weakness that had already formed within the shor
ALPHA ASHER’S POV"What do you think William, how long do you think this is going to go because I would have to calm Lia down before she goes out of her fucking mind." I asked him, gazing at the activity down in in sidewalk. There were a few men there, moving something towards their camps shouting after one another. One man was at the edge, commanding them with yells. "What did she say this time around?" He asked, looking at me steadily. "She thought her rejecting Lance would bring the war war an immediate end, but I told her it wouldn't. And somehow somehow she flared, so I'm guessing she is upset at the moment" I replied him, gazing back at him. A smile crossed his features as turned back to look at the movement downstairs. "Under normal circumstances, it should. But you know Alpha Lance is not the kind of person who will bend to any man. He will make sure he does everything possible possible to back his pound of flesh. Bit anything is possible though, he should be devastated at
ALPHA ASHER’S POV "I guess that's the end of our gathering. I want to thank each and everyone of you for making this a success. Please do not hesitate to get to me if you have any idea about what we can do to salvage the situation. I will be very happy to listen to what you have to say by then. With that I hereby bring the meeting to a close. For those who are manning different camps, make sure you instruct your men about everything we just discussed here. Make sure you repeat it again and again to get it into their heads. With everything that we discussed here, we should be able to get everything done without wasting too much time. The war shouldn't shouldn't for long because we know everything they would probably do. We can't afford to make any stupid mistakes, any mistake we make would factor greatly in our loss. And losing is not an option. Nobody wants to lose to anyone, especially to people who have treated us like shit. Anyone who has the mind to keep my mate away from me,
ALPHA ASHER’S POV "Good" I said before walking out of the room. There was no other place to go apart from Lia's Chambers. I needed to be with her every now and then to make sure that she was OK. Each time I remembered what those bastards had done to her, my heart clenched with hate. And the thought of killing the both of them never left my head. From there I trudged towards where my mate was, I knew she wouldn't be up by now but I still went. When I got there the guards were still standing guard. Acknowledging a second time again, I walked into the room. The warmth wrapped around my body immediately, exterminating every atom of coldness on my body. I shivered at the feeling and walked to the seat in front of her where I sat down and began to watch her. She was fast asleep. After a few minutes I got bored and felt like leaving but there was no other place to go apart from here. I tried my best to ignore the sick mate bond that has been disturbing me ever since she got up from the ho
