“How did you know they injected me?” I demanded, peering up at them with my eyes squinted.

“We…” Blue gulped. “We went to look for Kendera while you were asleep. It was how we found these.” He took two syringes out of his pocket and showed them to me. “We were troubled, so we rushed back home.”

“How are you feeling now?” Fred asked, walking over to me with a worried expression still on his face.

“What are the effects of the things you mentioned? Anything I should know?” I deliberately ignored Fred's question because that was all they had been asking me since I woke up.

“We…” Blue scratched the back of his hair. “We don't know about humans. For werewolves, they can be used as both a stimulant or —”

“A stimulant?” I interrupted. “What does that mean?”

“It differs,” Fred responded, tucking some strands of hair behind my right ear. “For the strongest werewolves, it makes them lose track of reality and sends them into a realm of cravings. It could be anything. Blood. Sex. Wine.
