"So you three are like actual werewolves? As in shapeshifters? Full moons, silver bullets, nine yards?
They all nodded their intense gaze unwavering.
A strangled laugh escaped my lips. "Werewolves?" I shook my head in disbelief. "So what's next? For me to believe vampires and witches are real too?"
"We know how it sounds," Caleb chimed in, his roguish grin doing little to mask the worry in his blue eyes. "Crazy, right? But you have to believe us, babe. You're our Luna, our mate, bound to us by magic older than civilization itself."
I shot a glare at him. "How often do I have to repeat myself? My name is Keira Evans. I'm just a normal high school teacher, not this Luna person you keep rambling about."
Ryder stepped forward, his massive frame radiating a raw power and dominance that had me instinctively shrinking back against the thin hospital mattress.
"You are Luna Blackwood," he growled, his golden eyes flickering with an animalistic ferocity that sent a shiver of trepidation down my spine. "The one true mate of Alpha Zane Blackwood and the ruling Luna of our pack. Your memories have been tampered with, but we'll make you remember. One way..." His gaze raked over me with a scorching intensity. "Or another."
I swallowed hard, suddenly regretting my snarky attitude as Ryder's words took on a mildly threatening tone. These three weren't just delusional - they were unhinged, maybe even dangerous.
"Look, I get that you three are really into this weird role play thing you've got going on," I said, struggling to keep my voice steady. "But I'm just a regular human who wants no part of your freaky werewolf fantasies, okay? So why don't you back off and let me get back to my normal, mate-free life?"
Zane stepped closer, heat and desperation burning in his emerald stare. "This isn't a game or fantasy, Luna. You're far more than just a regular human."
His finger trailed my jawline in a caressing way.
"Tell me you don't feel any connections...the bond, the power...the prophecy... humming through your veins."
I jerked away from his touch, unsettled by the molten desire that flared to life in the pit of my stomach at his proximity. Stop it, Keira, I scolded myself. Don't let this ridiculously hot stranger get into your head.
"I don't feel anything except an overwhelming desire to get as far away from you insane people as possible," I shot back, my cheeks flushing.
Caleb chuckled, the deep, rich sound sending an inexplicable shiver racing down my spine. "There's our feisty Luna. I've missed that fire." He winked at me roguishly. "Don't worry, babydoll. That delectable sass is one of the things we love most about you."
I opened my mouth to respond, but Ryder hushed me with a low, feral growl that reverberated straight through to my core.
"Enough games. If she refuses to accept the truth willingly, drastic measures will be required."
Before I could so much as blink, he lunged forward with predatory swiftness, grasping my shoulders in an iron grip.
His eyes bored into mine with scorching intensity, and I felt a strange pressure begin to build inside my mind, as if an invisible force were battering against my mental defenses.
His gaze commanded, his deep timbre taking on an otherworldly resonance that seemed to pulse through my very soul. "Accept who and what you are, Luna Blackwood - our mate, our luna, our eternal."
A rush of pain hit my head before I clamped my eyes shut. Crying out a series of images flashed before me like a vision. I got a vision of unfamiliar places... flickering through my consciousness...even battles and... intimacy...
And binding it all together, a constant refrain of Zane, Ryder, and Caleb's rugged features imprinted on my psyche with the undeniable weight of fate and devotion.
The pressure built to excruciating levels, each memory crashing over me like a rogue wave until I felt like I was drowning in the deluge of foreign experiences.
I clawed futilely at Ryder's arms, my nails scoring crimson furrows across his tawny skin as I fought against the relentless tide threatening to tear me asunder.
Just when I thought I couldn't withstand another second without shattering completely, the onslaught ceased as abruptly as it had begun.
I collapsed against Ryder's solid form, gasping for air, mind spinning from the mental whiplash.
"What...the hell...did you do to me?" I rasped, the words a breathless rasp.
"Merely unlocked what was already there," Zane murmured, brushing a damp tendril of hair from my sweat-dampened brow. "Your true self, the Luna lurking just beneath the surface."
I shook my head weakly, dazed and disoriented as the faces and places from the vision swirled through my consciousness in a disorientating loop. "I don't...I can't make sense of it all."
"Give it time, darlin'," Caleb soothed, his voice liquid velvet caressing my addled senses. "Those memories will sort themselves out soon enough, and you'll recall everything - our pack, our bonds, our forever love."
Part of me rebelled against the notion, still clinging to the vestiges of the safe, normal existence I had known mere hours ago.
But the harder I tried to grasp those tattered remnants of my former life, the more they slipped through my fingers like fine grains of sand scattered by the winds of change.
Where Keira Evans had once stood, only Luna Blackwood remained - a fragment of a persona cloaked in mysteries and bound irrevocably to three alpha werewolves by ties I couldn't fathom.
"Who am I?" The tremulous whisper fell from my lips, laced with a heavy vulnerability I hadn't felt since childhood.
Zane cradled my face in his work-roughened palms, his molten stare searing straight through me until I felt utterly bared, body and soul, before this primal force of nature.
"You are Luna Blackwood, the heart and soul of our pack, the world and the moon to three powerful Alpha shifters bound to you by an ancient, eternal force," he rasped, his thumb tracing the curve of my parted lips with smoldering reverence. "We will spend every moment from now until our dying breaths protecting you, cherishing you, reminding you of the sacred, unbreakable bonds we share."
His words washed over me with the commanding finality of an irrefutable truth, and I felt something profound awaken deep within my core.
It was as if a part of my soul that had been lost in the ether was finally slamming back into place, the missing piece to an elaborate puzzle that allowed the bigger, cosmic picture to take shape at long last.
With dawning clarity, I gazed up at the feral intensity blazing in my proclaimed mates' eyes - their desire, their bone-deep devotion binding them to me with a primal claim that resonated to the very marrow of my being.
My world had been irrevocably shattered and reshaped into something ancient and arcane in the span of mere heartbeats.
And as I succumbed at last to the irresistible gravitational pull of Zane, Ryder and Caleb, I had the sinking suspicion my life was about to become infinitely more...complicated.
"You're sure you're feeling up to this?" Zane's brow furrowed with concern as the nurses finished the discharge paperwork. "There's no need to rush, we can take things slowly if you want."I shook my head before tucking a strand of hair behind my head.I needed to see this "pack" they kept referring to with my own eyes."No, let's just get this over with," I said, unable to hide the trepidation in my voice. "Maybe being around...your people will start jogging these supposed memories of mine."Caleb looped an arm around my shoulders, the casual contact sparking a shiver of awareness down my spine despite my attempts at indifference.Damn these insanely attractive men and their dizzying effect on my hormones."Don't worry, love," he purred in that honeyed drawl that should be illegal. "We've got a place all set up just for you. Make yourself at home while your memories sort themselves out."The thought of being isolated with the three of them, no matter how gorgeous, set my nerves jangl
The opulent villa may have screamed luxury, but the ostentatious decor did little to disguise its cloying air of captivity. Sure, the sleek furnishings and polished surfaces exuded sophistication and wealth. But the reinforced windows and security monitors tracking my every move were unsettling reminders that this gilded cage was still very much a prison.I'd been settled into my new "home" for three days, and the initial confusion swirling through my mind had only intensified. Flashes of deeply unsettling visions plagued my tenuous grasp on reality - scenes of violence, blood, and forms that defied the natural order lurking beneath the full moon's eerie crimson glow. Were these glimpses of my supposed supernatural past as Luna resurfacing?Or was I simply cracking under the psychological strain of being held captive by these delusional - yet insanely attractive - men?The sound of the suite's door disengaging drew me from my brooding reverie.I tensed, watching warily as a beautifu
Damien's piercing stare settled on me with hungry intensity. "That this naive little illiterate isn't our long-lost Luna at all. Just an unwitting stand-in, haplessly caught in the crosshairs of Fate's cruel games."The bottom dropped out of my stomach as their sinister intimations coalesced into a horrifying reality. They knew I wasn't the real Luna. Which meant..."You two tried to kill her," I gasped, sickened realization crashing over me. "The actual Luna, your brother's mate. You're the ones responsible for her disappearance!"Valerie asked unsympathetically. "Don't look so betrayed, little one. That pathetic excuse for a Luna had far too strong a grip over my Alphas. I merely...removed an inconvenient obstacle to ensure they could reach their full potential under my guidance.""You're both certifiable!" I spat, every hard-won instinct screaming at me to flee from their poisonous presence. "Zane, Caleb and Ryder would never...""What? Fall under the depraved sway of a usurping bi
Chapter 6Keira’s Pov“Meet us in the woods by midnight. We will leave a scent for you to follow. Ensure that you do not keep us waiting.” Valerie said, and then both her and Damien walked out of the living room.I breathed a sigh of relief, and it felt as if their presence had been a weight on my shoulders, and with them gone, it was a big relief. They didn’t even wait to hear if I was going to be in or not; I guess they could smell my fear and knew I would end up doing their bid. Well, I couldn’t really say I was going to deceive them totally; I was going to do their bid a little just to save my neck, and that of my family and friends. But on a second thought, I felt if I could sneak out into the woods, then I could also escape that way. The thought of that made my heart leap for joy, and I just couldn’t wait until midnight.I tried my best to stay patient just until midnight would be here because with the thought of escaping here, my whole body just couldn’t stay here one more seco
Luna’s PovMy eyes opened slowly, and to my shock, I was in a strange room; simple, yet beautiful. The things around were arranged neatly; the wall was painted pink, and there were many papers stacked on the study desk. The floor I saw from a distant was really nice and pretty, but how did I get here? The last thing I remembered was that Valerie and Damien threw me down easily into the raging water fall during a rainy day. They had found a way to inject me with something that weakened every fiber of me.“Son and daughter of a bitch!” I said sharply under my breath. That was the only way they were able to get to me. But right now, where could I be? Did the people who own here, save me perhaps? As I sat up, and looked around again, I saw a framed photo of myself standing before a college.“What the hell.” I never took those photos, and so far, I haven’t seen a place like this in our city. Was this their way of idolizing me or what? Besides, how did they make it? No, I couldn’t just si
Keira’s PovJust before I fell too far from the cliff top, I was able to grab a hold of a part of the cliff, but my hands were slipping.“Help!” I screamed out and my voice echoed. The rogue came closer, and bent to me.“No one is going to save you, Luna. It’s time I cause a fatal pain to Alpha Zane’s heart.” The rogue said, and rose to his feet, raising his right foot as he prepared to hit my hand.“No, please don’t! Don’t do this.” I pleaded as I felt my hand slipping. He began to cackle and just when he was about to kick me off, someone from nowhere pushed him off the cliff and he fell, screaming in fear. That made me to look down at him, and just seeing the mighty river and everything got me so overwhelmed in fear that my hand slipped at once.“Ahh!” I screamed out the moment I realized I was going to fall and die.But fortunately, a hand grabbed me, and pulled me up back to the ground.Tears strolled down my eyes and I began to cry out as the feeling of being so close to death wa
Keira’s Pov“What's… what's going on?” I asked, trying to understand why everyone was a little tense and all. Then they all looked at me, and Alpha Zane sighed.“When the Luna goes away for a while, maybe on a trip or something, a Luna Rite is performed where she has to fight with a skilled warrior in the pack to see if she still has the knack or capability to be a Luna. Besides, no one in the pack except the pack house knows that you were missing and not on a trip.” Zane explained to me.My heart skipped a beat and my palms become sweaty and cold. How was I supposed to get into a Luna Rite when I didn't know how to fight? The rogue who had tried kill me could have succeeded if Caleb didn't interfere.“I can't… I can't avoid it?” I asked, feeling so nervous and anxious.“No, it's an important tradition. But I'll find a way around it. For now, go to your room.” Zane said to me, and I nodded my head and walked back to my room.I slowly walked back to my room, thinking so much on what w
Keira’s PovMy body felt good, and even the warm sun rays that shone on my face made me feel more good today. This was a feeling which doesn’t come to me so easily, and it was nice to finally have a taste of it.Hold on. This really happened.I opened my eyes immediately, and I let out a soft gasp as I saw Zane beside me, sleeping comfortably.“Oh, no.” I uttered under my breath and covered my mouth with my hand. Then I gently got down from the bed just so as not to wake him, and I quickly ran into the bathroom, and locked the door, then placed both hands on the sink, and bowed my head as I tried to calculate what had just happened between us.Although, I recall that we had something together, but at first, it seemed like a dream; or maybe the feeling was a dream come true. “Shit!” I cursed under my breath. The real Luna was going to be mad at me if she found out that I slept with her main man. Would she come after me or make me regret this? Oh, good God.“Luna?” I heard Zane call ou
