Chapter Twenty — What are you talking about?

Ivanna's POV

"What are you talking about?" She moved backwards. Like she was terrified. And her fingers were trembling. She sat on the bed and almost at the same time she stood and was pacing. Even her voice was barely audible.

"You killed her, June," I repeated, slightly puzzled by her chaotic reaction. "You were there when she died. Who knows what you fed her before I came in."

"I didn't kill her. I couldn't have. I'm not a fucking killer!" She shrieked, grabbing a handful of her hair and yanking it.

What the hell was going on with her? I hadn't expected such a reaction from her. She seemed so coordinated and bold earlier. How did she become so disturbed over a question?

Was she really the killer? Nah, she couldn't be. Maybe she was still terrified of that day. Maybe her weird reaction was a traumatic response. But her eyes…they glowed. Like she was hiding something.

Should I threaten her more? It could make her snap and she would spill

Chapter Twenty-one— See You SoonIvanna’s POVThe packhouse was bustling with activities. A bit more than usual. I was drowned in an ocean of duties that I barely found time to catch my breath. It didn't help that Mary had her eyes on me, not giving me a slight chance to stretch my aching body or take a little break. I dared to stand and do a little twist, but she was already yelling. "Hey. What are you still waiting for, idiot? Aren’t you going to work?!""As you can see, Ma'am, I’m working," I replied with a subtle eye roll.I stayed down until I was done with all my chores. Settling on the floor, I took a little rest. But here she came again, fierce and mean."Stop lazing around and go help out in the kitchen!""Yes, ma’am." I stood, ignoring the pain resting in my joints. I hurried inside the kitchen. Lily and the other girls were already there and they all turned to me with glares. "Come over here and help me," Mirinda said. She was one of Lily's sidekicks. "Don't stand ove

Chapter Twenty-Two. A New Tag Ivanna’s POV I hurried out of her room and ran back to the maid's quarters. Unfortunately, I bumped into Lily's sidekicks. A simple apology wouldn't cut it, but I still muttered one, and took a step, but got pulled back. "Why are you in a hurry?" Mirinda asked, crossing her arms over her chest. "Did you do something shameful again? Who did you kill this time?" I looked at her. And then at her girls. It was obvious they were trying to initiate a fight. But I knew better than to fall for their trick. Without uttering a word, I walked past her. Strolling the hallways and checking all the rooms, I finally found Mary directing a group of girls to put up some decorations on the walls. She spotted me approaching her, so I didn't have to get her attention. "Are you done with the cleaning?" "Yes, ma'am." "Good. Now get to work. Help them with the decorations. I want everything to be perfect. Is it clear?" She yelled into my ears. "Crystal, Ma'am." It

Anna laughed like she was having the time of her life. She was serious. And it made my heart bleed. To think we used to be best friends."What did I do to you, Anna? What went wrong between us? Didn't we used to be friends?""Friends? You were never my friend. I only hung out with you because of your rank in the pack," she said with a terrifying resentment. "You had it all, Ivanna. The good stuff, they were all yours while I had nothing. No one loved me. I was the Delta's daughter, but that didn't count. Everyone treated me like trash because of my mother’s lowly background. But you had so much love. Everyone wanted to be your friend. Do you know how sick that made me feel?""But I loved you, Anna. I shared everything I had with you. On getting there, the guards threw me on the floor."Here she is, Alpha," Anna said, bowed, and took her seat beside her father."Tell me, Killer. Why did you steal her jewelry?" Alpha asked. He was already accusing me like he saw me do it. "I didn’t steal it, Master," I replied, amidst tears. "I'm innocent.""Innocent, you say? That's impossible. A killer can hardly be innocent. So it's hard to believe anything that comes out from that cheap mouth of yours, killer,"He stood up and walked towards me. "Hmmm! What’s that stench?!" He covered his nose. "Don’t tell me that stench is coming from you?"I looked down, not daring to look into his eyes. Everyone laughed and made exaggerated sniffing sounds. Rocco was also there.
