Carrie POV

I watch the medical team quickly exit Carleton’s room and move forward to be with Jessica. The doctor shuts the door behind himself as he exits shaking his head. “Wait – there must be something I can do!” I say as I rush to the door. “I am sorry Luna. If I felt you could have helped, I would have suggested it immediately. The Alpha was too far gone,” he comments as Jackson takes me into his arms, grief overwhelming me. What good were these powers if you could not help your family when they needed it?!?

I shrug Jackson’s arms from mine and move towards the closed door putting my hand on it. Wanting to somehow give Jessica some of my strength as she endures the worst pain a mate will suffer. Mandy moves to stand beside me but we both acknowledge we need to give Jessica some time. I would want privacy right now.

I turn to look to Jackson, “What about Christian? What can I do?” I ask moving towards him. “I do not know Carrie. His

Oh I think she should mark him also. He had her mark and it slowly disappeared because she was kidnapped and was under a spell and her memory wiped. That’s the only reason he lost the mark. So yes Jessica mark him.

Carrie POV It has been two days since we returned. The doctors were shocked that Carleton was still alive and have started IV treatments for him to ensure he is not dehydrated. Everyone is skeptical but cannot argue with his determination to fight. I know Jessica is struggling. She has not left his side; she believes he is holding on for her and I believe she is right. Christian is still with us, but his wolf is more present than Christian is. Christian’s parents have been with him as well as us vigilantly praying for some sign that he is still there. We have another consult with the doctor on his case and will have to make some tough decisions later today. For now, Mandy and I have just left Jessica after ensuring she ate something, albeit very little. We are on our way back to the Pack house to go through our work for the day. Mandy has stepped up and really jumped into her role the past couple days. Josh is also taking his role very serio

Jessica POV I had watched Carleton for two days now, fighting for his life. I had been at a war with my wolf who was adamant I needed to mark Carleton. I was tired. Tired of the sad faces that kept coming into this room with their pitiful looks. Tired of being the champion for the man that I loved, when everyone around me thought it was hopeless. I knew that Carrie and Mandy were with me and supported me, but it was not the same as sitting here each day feeling helpless. And that feeling of despair growing. Wondering was I doing the right thing? Was Carleton holding on just because I was still sitting here? Or was he truly able to return to me. I watched as the nurses walked out of the room, once again, with their looks of pity. I stood up slowly and walked to the door locking it behind them. I did not want to have to risk anyone interrupting what I was about to do. I leaned with my back against the door, simply staring at the man I love.

  • The Luna's Fated Mate   Chapter 102 - Living

Jackson POV I sit with Carrie in my arms, praying for a miracle. She had exhausted her body, and I knew she desperately wanted to know she had helped in some way. I watched her face as the pain started to subside. I could see the tension ease as she relaxed further into my body. I sat in the silence listening to the machines attached to Christian continue their steady beep. I heard a tap on the door. Unfortunately, it was loud enough to cause Carrie to stir. I looked over and saw Christian’s parents walk in. “Anything?” they ask anxiously. Shaking my head, “Nothing yet,” I respond as Carrie sits up looking at Christian disappointed, he was not awake. “I had hoped he would open his eyes by now,” she admits softly. “You did everything you could. For now, let’s get you home so you can rest,” I say to her. She looks up at me and smiles, “That sounds good. First, I want to stop and see Jessica,” she says. I nod, knowing she would not have lef

Carleton POV I am so confused. Nothing makes sense. I know Jessica is my mate. I know I loved her, and I still do. Why is this happening and why can I not remember? I feel like I failed her. “Did they hurt you?” I ask tightly. Jessica looks at me, her look softening, “No,” she replies quickly. “Are you sure? You say you cannot remember?” I challenge her. “I do not have any feelings of being attacked,” she replies standing there paralyzed in fear at my perceived rejection. Slowly I lift my hand to hers and she quickly takes mine. I am angry that there are no sparks. I do not understand what it means. Was it as simple as the bond having been broken? Will it come back once I mark her? “You got your wolf back?” I ask confused as to why I knew that tidbit of information. She smiles encouragingly at me, “Yes, she came back when we were ambushed,” she says as she holds on tightly to my hand. Tugging her hand slightly I pull her to sit beside

Carrie POV Looking toward the voice, I am shocked to see Rosie standing there. “What the hell are you doing here?” Jackson growls standing and placing me behind him. I roll my eyes, wondering when he will realize I am just as strong as he is. I move to stand beside him curious to know why Rosie was standing in front of us. “I was having a medical check-up,” she says as she takes a cautious step inside the room. “I am sorry I did not come forward sooner,” she says looking to the ground. “What do you know?” I ask Rosie. She looks at me and for the first time since meeting her, I see a glimpse of vulnerability. Not that I trust the woman, but there is something different about her. I notice she is more visibly showing. You can see her pup is growing and she is a healthy she-wolf. “I saw when you were kidnapped,” she says bracing for Jackson’s anger. “And you did nothing to help?” Jackson yells. “You did not tell us what you saw at the time?”

  • The Luna's Fated Mate   Chapter 105 - A Plan

Carrie POV Josh and Mandy come into the room in a rush, not expecting Carleton to be awake. “Oh, my Goddess,” Mandy says softly as she moves forward to hug Jessica. “How did this happen? Carrie?” Mandy asks but I shake my head, “This was one hundred percent Jessica,” I reply as Mandy looks to her curiously.“I marked him,” she replies as Mandy looks to Carleton. He nods with a smile as Jessica moves back to sit beside him on his bed. “This is a miracle,” Mandy says as she moves closer to Josh. He smiles, “I told you Carleton would be alright. How about Christian?” Josh asks as they move further into the room.“He is also awake; that was Carrie,” Jackson offers proudly. They look to me for an answer, “I will explain it all when we have more time,” I offer and that satisfies everyone for now. “What did we miss?” Josh asks as Jackson fills them in on the discussion with Rosie and wrapping with our deductions that there is more danger out there.“Wouldn’t you think we

  • The Luna's Fated Mate   Chapter 106 - Who Was There?

Jackson POV Josh and I had been strategizing what intel we wanted to provide the individual who was contacting Rosie. I had no idea who it was, but I would be finding out damn soon. Wherever the drop point is, will be exactly where we will be to get the informant. I could not believe this had been happening right under our noses all this time. No wonder they had always been one step ahead of us or seemed to be. And what did the Beta have to do with Carrie’s father? I knew he had always liked power, but when Carrie, Jessica, and Mandy arrived, it was the height of it all. He took it to a new level. Fortunately, Christian had recognized it before me and was able to stop the abuse before it ended Mandy’s life. I hear a tap on my door and look up to see Carrie and Mandy enter my office, “It is time for supper,” Carrie says as Mandy moves to Josh’s side. “We have just been working on a plan to catch the informant,” I share with them both. “And y

  • The Luna's Fated Mate   Chapter 107 - The Female Doctor

Carrie POVI sat there talking to Jessica and Carleton, with Mandy, wondering what was happening with Rosie. “We plan to leave tomorrow,” Jessica tells me dragging my attention back to her. “What?” I ask confused. “Carleton is better, and we need to get back to the Wolf Council,” she replies. “Surely they can give you a bit more time to heal?” I ask angrily. “It is not them asking me to come back; Jessica and I believe we can be of more value to you there,” Carleton says. “Value, how?” I ask. “The Wolf Council has access to a variety of information. I want to see what we can find out about Rosie and her involvement with your father,” he replies.“You think she was involved with my father?” I ask surprised. “There are so many loose ends, and they all come back to her,” Carleton says as he sits on the side of the bed, looking tired. “I will go check on getting you discharged,” Mandy says as she walks out the door. “I thought that was what Josh and Jackson went to do?” Jessica

Carrie’s POV Jessica, Mandy, and I sat watching our pups. Jessica and Mandy each had a boy. We had thought one might be a female but had a pleasant surprise when two males were born to my two best friends. Colton, Rosie’s pup and my half-brother, were playing with the boys. It was easy to see they were best friends being born so close to one another. Unless Colton was upset about something. Then his temper showed through. We were concerned and already working with him to control his anger. Even at his young age, we knew we needed to build the capacity within Colton to control himself, at all times. It was challenging for Jackson and me. Having a gifted child when I was still learning my own talents was keeping us on our toes. He was going to be more talented than me. It is incredible but we now believe that my father had enhanced his powers in some way that resulted in Colton’s talents being enhanced. The challenge of trying to anticipate

  • The Luna's Fated Mate   Chapter 122 - Rosie's Pup

Carrie POV Before I can move, Christian steps forward. I see tears in the doctor’s eyes as she looks at her mate, knowing her fate. “Please, I am sorry,” she whispers as Christians looks at her with hate in his eyes. He is owed this. She almost destroyed him and the fact that she is his mate is only a cruel twist of fate. He leans forward placing his lips on hers. One solitary kiss from his mate before he reaches his hands up to her neck and snaps it as her lips rest on his. He steps back, cradling her body in his arms. I feel tears of my own rise up as I watch helplessly at our friend being forced to deal with the crappy hand he had been dealt. Without saying anything else, Christian turns and walks out of the gala event with his dead mate in his arms. Nobody spoke. They simply watched the tragic event in slow motion. As Christian exits the building, I can hear people starting to speak softly. Talking about calling it a night. Sadly, I a

  • The Luna's Fated Mate   Chapter 121 - Painful Answers

Carrie POV Christian cut off the words the doctor was about to say. “Christian!” I yell wanting to hear what she had to say. Christian was determined to snap her neck. Jackson was beside him trying to unwrap his hands around her neck. My mother kept yelling for Christian to do it. “Christian stop!” I command with all my power. Many surrounding us started to drop to their knees at the wave of power that left my body. Christian dropped his hands turning his angry glare on me. The female doctor leans forward gasping for air. “Why?” Christian demands. “We need to know who Rosie’s baby’s father is, Christian,” I say to him trying to reason with him. “It is my right to destroy her,” he says with anger. “I understand but this is important,” I say to him looking to Jackson. I know he is wondering as well and wants the answers from her. I feel a sense of trepidation as I move towards the woman. My mother is struggling to get out of Josh’s hands,

  • The Luna's Fated Mate   Chapter 120 - Who's Pup?

Carrie POV I block the bolts of power coming at me with my arms. It is as if my arms have become shields of steel and I simply have the intuitive awareness of how to deflect her attack. She moves closer as I step back. Taking a chance, I flip my right arm and make like I am tossing something at her. It shocks her and she stumbles backwards with a smirk, “Just testing out your powers, I see,” she says as she steps closer to me pushing a stronger wave of force at me. Before I can respond I am pushed backwards. My shoes fall off and I land on my ass. I hear Jackson yell my name, but I cannot look to him. I have to focus on the threat. She continues to stalk towards me as I crawl backwards trying to get my bearings. I am working my way towards standing when she slams into me again this time knocking me back and winding me. “If you were smart, you would stay down. As much as I want you dead, your father would never forgive me for destroying you

  • The Luna's Fated Mate   Chapter 119 - Party Crashers

Jackson POV It has been a week since Carrie received the email from her mother. After a few months reprieve I had started to wonder if they would just give up. I had hoped they would give up. They were after something. I simply did not know what it was. Carrie was too independent. She could live on her own without them. She had always wanted her mother but not like this. Not this woman who had seemingly abandoned her at a young age for the greater good, as she liked to imply. We were all getting ready for the Gala event we were hosting. We had spent every waking moment well into the wee hours of the night, planning for every type of attack we could imagine. Christian had gone darker if that were possible. Now that the end was imminent, I knew he would take out the female doctor, or die trying. And that scared me. He had no fear of death. It was as if he had looked it in the face once and he was prepared to die if it meant taking out his

  • The Luna's Fated Mate   Chapter 118 - Threats

Carrie POV It has been three months since we last saw my mother, brother, or his mate the female doctor. Everyone has been on intense alert since that fight. Our warriors were exhausted from all the additional training and extra shifts they have been taking to protect the Pack. Jessica has settled into her job working with Carleton for the Wolf Council. They continue to try and find leads as to where my family is but have had no luck. They are all wanted and considered dangerous. There are huge bounties on all of them. I do not want them captured. I want them dead. They are wreaking havoc with my family and my doctor is concerned the stress is impacting my ability to get pregnant. I am exhausted myself worrying about how much I have brought to Jackson’s doorstep. He continues to tell me to stop worrying. He will stand by my side regardless. But the Pack did not sign on for this either. They continue to be supportive, but I know they are

  • The Luna's Fated Mate   Chapter 117 - Long Gone

Carrie POV Jackson returned to us and shared what they learned so far. Which was not much. My mother had attempted to have Randy freed, but Jackson quickly replied, “It is out of my hands. The Wolf Council is taking him into custody, and he will be charged accordingly.”. “That is outrageous. We have neutralized the threat!” my mother exclaims. “Take it up with Carleton. He is making transfer arrangements as we speak,” Jackson says without sympathy. “Carrie you must do something to help your brother,” my mother pleads with me. Shaking my head, “I am sorry, but I cannot. He betrayed me and my Pack; had he succeeded it would have been the end of us,” I reply to her. Jackson looks at me with love and pride at my response. The rage that crosses my mother’s face surprises me, but she quickly contains it. That causes me to pause for a moment as I watch her. “You have his wolf, his powers … what more do you want?” she asks coldly. “It is not abo

  • The Luna's Fated Mate   Chapter 116 - Uncertain

Carrie POV “Do you sincerely believe he deserves to have his wolf, after all that he has done?” my mother asks. I sit with that question. Did I think he deserved his wolf? I had not been prepared to help save him, yet I worried about him being without a wolf. A wolf was so much a part of who we were. And having been without my wolf for so long, I could easily identify with the devastation. “I do not know the answer to that question,” I respond honestly. “Well, you have time to decide,” my mother replies. “What do you mean?” I ask. “You have taken his wolf into your care; you can give it back or let the wolf go to its resting place. The choice will solely be yours,” my mother says softly. I sit back in my chair and chew my food slowly. Mandy is sitting silent listening to the conversation. “What do you think?” I ask her as she looks at me in surprise. “I think it is as your mother has said. It is your choice; your decision,” she replies.
