Carrie POV

“We mark one another,” Jackson replies. I look at him with shock on my face. “How is that possible? Adam already marked me,” I comment looking away confused with what he was proposing. “Did you not look at yourself in the mirror? Your mark is fading quickly,” he comments to me.

I look at him in surprise before standing and rushing to the washroom. I look in the mirror. He was right. The mark was almost non-existent. When a chosen mate marks one another the marks are simply the points our fangs make in our skin. Unlike a fated or second chance mate, where we get a design for a mark signifying the tying of two souls blessed by the Moon Goddess.

I touched the mark that had tortured me for the past two years and feel tears rise in my eyes. The bumps that used to be there were shrinking quickly. I feel Jackson at the door of the washroom, “If I mark you, it will disappear entirely and be replaced by my mark,” he promises as he watch

Carrie POV Terrified, I am pushed forward by the two warriors who are protecting me. Feeling my heart in my throat, I know I am a risk not having my wolf. I try to stop being pushed along as I realize the women are at risk, “Wait, what about Mandy and Jessica?” I scream wanting to get to them. Wanting them to be with me. “Luna, they are safe at the hospital. We need to get you to the safe room so we can go help the others,” a distressed warrior says to me. Realizing I was causing more problems, I allowed the warriors to guide me down the halls and then down to the basement. I started to feel a higher level of anxiety as it felt like being dragged to the dungeon. As I started to waiver, the warrior tossed me over his shoulder, “Sorry, Luna,” he mutters as the other warrior moves ahead putting in a code to open the safe room. He gently puts me down inside the room moving to leave me alone. “Wait! How will I get out?” I demand feeling nauseous

  • The Luna's Fated Mate   Chapter 24 - Release

Jackson POV Holding Carrie tightly the others step away from us to give us some privacy. There was now a mess to clean up and I knew my people would take care of it. Leaning back slightly I look down to Carrie. She is still trying to hide in my neck, “Baby, I need to know that you are alright,” I murmur to her. I see the red handprint on her face and wish I could kill that fucker again. I tilt her chin up, so she is looking at me. I see the tears in her eyes and lean forward to kiss her forehead. “Can you tell me what happened?” I ask her gently. She moves back closer to me, “I saw you on the monitor. I thought they were going to kill you,” she says to me. Realizing she had seen all the fighting and would have seen the wolves coming for her would have added to the terror she faced. “I am sorry you had to see that. I am fine. Our Pack is fine,” I assure her. “Are you sure? There is blood on you,” she comments as I look down at myself. “

  • The Luna's Fated Mate   Chapter 25 - Mated and Marked

Carrie POV Stretching and uncurling my toes from that earth shattering moment I cannot believe I had missed this all along. How was it possible one moment with Jackson was changing my views on being intimate? I admit I had been nervous not knowing what to expect. I had always only experienced discomfort and I was nervous about the moment I knew was coming. But a part of me was starting to anticipate what was next. I watch Jackson remove his clothing. He tosses his shirt aside before moving to the button of his jeans. Before he can undo them, I sit up and he pauses waiting for my signal. I loved that he was so attentive to my needs and what I wanted. I reached my hands across to him slowly waiting for his permission. He smiles encouragingly putting a hand in my hair letting me take my time. I stand in front of him and smile as I look down and slowly undo his zipper against his hard cock. I feel him take in a breath of air as I see the zipper

Carrie POV I look at Jackson confused, “What do you mean?” I ask. “You could not have marked me if you did not have your wolf, baby. Try talking to her,” he suggests as a slow smile comes across my face. “I did not even realize,” I murmur as I tentatively reach out to Reba, my wolf. “Reba?” I ask, holding my breath for her to respond. “Carrie?” I hear back. It is a faint whisper. Like hearing from someone who had not spoken for some time. I know I am beaming as my smile grows, and Jackson is smiling back at me. “Where have you been?” I ask her cautiously not wanting to scare her away. “I am so sorry I left you, Carrie. I felt so helpless and useless, I faded away to almost nothing in the back of your mind. I could not protect you nor could I protect myself. They gave us something that kept me supressed all this time,” she says softly. “What?!?” I exclaim. “What was it?” I ask her. “I do not know but it was not just normal wolfsbane. It

  • The Luna's Fated Mate   Chapter 27 - Second Chances

Mandy POV I watch Jessica leave the room wanting to call her back. I know she needs her rest as well. She tries to hide it, but she was attacked as well by that fucking Beta. If only I was a little bigger and stronger, maybe I could have fought back. I needed to get out of here. I think Carrie is going to end up staying with her mate. I cannot stay here, and risk being rejected again. I know my wolf will not survive and if she does not, I will not survive without her. Remembering my first rejection always brought so many emotions. Fear, hurt, disbelief, but mostly the reality that he was right. I was not strong enough to be his mate. His chosen mate beat the crap out of me when I tried to kill her. I woke up broken in the dungeons, only to take further abuse. Tortured for days. Scars all over my body. Scars made by silver. Scars that would never leave and are a constant reminder of my failure as a mate. And then being tossed out like

  • The Luna's Fated Mate   Chapter 28 - Morning After

Jessica POV I sat up in bed stretching my aching bones. I would not let on, but the Beta had beat me pretty good. I was coming along thanks to my wolf, but it was slower than usual. I think the Beta gave me a dose of wolfsbane without me knowing it. It would be the only thing that would explain my limited healing. And it would explain why I could not fight back when he attacked me. As an Alpha I was typically strong. Most people did not realize it right away, but the Beta knew when he brought me to the questioning room. He taunted me, and then started kicking the shit out of me. There was one point I did not know if I would make it but then as if he knew his limits he stopped and dragged me back to my cell. Mandy thinks she is weaker but to endure what he dished out; she was much stronger than she realized. Looking around the room I see a fresh pile of clothes available. Whoever was looking after us was amazing and thoughtful. The

  • The Luna's Fated Mate   Chapter 29 - Unexpected Guest

Carrie POV I had a great morning catching up with Mandy. I was a little concerned at how quiet Jessica had been. She was happy for Mandy; I could see that. But she seemed distant. Perhaps it was bothering her that we had found our mates and she had not. I believed hers was coming soon. I just hoped she would be open to him when he arrived. Now I was getting ready to meet with the Wolf Council. I was pretty shaken at what was to come but Jackson has spent every moment assuring me it was going to be alright. I hoped he was right. But he could not be certain. Adam was a cheat and deceitful. He could play the charming role easy enough. Standing in Jackson’s room … well our room, I guess. I just stood in the middle of the room uncertain what to do next. “You need to eat. You have not eaten at all today,” Jackson says as he comes up behind me wrapping his arms around my waist. I put my hands on his arms and lean back trying to absorb some of

  • The Luna's Fated Mate   Chapter 30 - Conflicting Story

Jackson POV I scan the document and see the conditions. My heart sinks, but I have a strong resolve. “This is a fake. Where is the original?” I demand as I feel Carrie’s terrified eyes on me. “Do you think I would be so stupid as to bring it?” Adam smirks. “It is locked away safely in a special place,” he adds while watching my mate with hatred in his eyes. “What does it say?” Carrie asks softly. I cannot look at her in this moment. I know she was not of sound mind when she signed this document, but it was damning assuming it was legitimately her signature on it. “Name your price,” I say to Adam as I stand there tensely looking at him. “The only price are the conditions of that contract,” he replies. “Bullshit. Everyone has a price,” I taunt him. I see his face redden with anger as he tries to take a step forward but is blocked by my warriors. “She owes me an heir. Once that heir is delivered, then she is free to be with whomever she wan

  • The Luna's Fated Mate   Chpater 123 - Two Years Later

Carrie’s POV Jessica, Mandy, and I sat watching our pups. Jessica and Mandy each had a boy. We had thought one might be a female but had a pleasant surprise when two males were born to my two best friends. Colton, Rosie’s pup and my half-brother, were playing with the boys. It was easy to see they were best friends being born so close to one another. Unless Colton was upset about something. Then his temper showed through. We were concerned and already working with him to control his anger. Even at his young age, we knew we needed to build the capacity within Colton to control himself, at all times. It was challenging for Jackson and me. Having a gifted child when I was still learning my own talents was keeping us on our toes. He was going to be more talented than me. It is incredible but we now believe that my father had enhanced his powers in some way that resulted in Colton’s talents being enhanced. The challenge of trying to anticipate

Carrie POV Before I can move, Christian steps forward. I see tears in the doctor’s eyes as she looks at her mate, knowing her fate. “Please, I am sorry,” she whispers as Christians looks at her with hate in his eyes. He is owed this. She almost destroyed him and the fact that she is his mate is only a cruel twist of fate. He leans forward placing his lips on hers. One solitary kiss from his mate before he reaches his hands up to her neck and snaps it as her lips rest on his. He steps back, cradling her body in his arms. I feel tears of my own rise up as I watch helplessly at our friend being forced to deal with the crappy hand he had been dealt. Without saying anything else, Christian turns and walks out of the gala event with his dead mate in his arms. Nobody spoke. They simply watched the tragic event in slow motion. As Christian exits the building, I can hear people starting to speak softly. Talking about calling it a night. Sadly, I a

  • The Luna's Fated Mate   Chapter 121 - Painful Answers

Carrie POV Christian cut off the words the doctor was about to say. “Christian!” I yell wanting to hear what she had to say. Christian was determined to snap her neck. Jackson was beside him trying to unwrap his hands around her neck. My mother kept yelling for Christian to do it. “Christian stop!” I command with all my power. Many surrounding us started to drop to their knees at the wave of power that left my body. Christian dropped his hands turning his angry glare on me. The female doctor leans forward gasping for air. “Why?” Christian demands. “We need to know who Rosie’s baby’s father is, Christian,” I say to him trying to reason with him. “It is my right to destroy her,” he says with anger. “I understand but this is important,” I say to him looking to Jackson. I know he is wondering as well and wants the answers from her. I feel a sense of trepidation as I move towards the woman. My mother is struggling to get out of Josh’s hands,

  • The Luna's Fated Mate   Chapter 120 - Who's Pup?

Carrie POV I block the bolts of power coming at me with my arms. It is as if my arms have become shields of steel and I simply have the intuitive awareness of how to deflect her attack. She moves closer as I step back. Taking a chance, I flip my right arm and make like I am tossing something at her. It shocks her and she stumbles backwards with a smirk, “Just testing out your powers, I see,” she says as she steps closer to me pushing a stronger wave of force at me. Before I can respond I am pushed backwards. My shoes fall off and I land on my ass. I hear Jackson yell my name, but I cannot look to him. I have to focus on the threat. She continues to stalk towards me as I crawl backwards trying to get my bearings. I am working my way towards standing when she slams into me again this time knocking me back and winding me. “If you were smart, you would stay down. As much as I want you dead, your father would never forgive me for destroying you

  • The Luna's Fated Mate   Chapter 119 - Party Crashers

Jackson POV It has been a week since Carrie received the email from her mother. After a few months reprieve I had started to wonder if they would just give up. I had hoped they would give up. They were after something. I simply did not know what it was. Carrie was too independent. She could live on her own without them. She had always wanted her mother but not like this. Not this woman who had seemingly abandoned her at a young age for the greater good, as she liked to imply. We were all getting ready for the Gala event we were hosting. We had spent every waking moment well into the wee hours of the night, planning for every type of attack we could imagine. Christian had gone darker if that were possible. Now that the end was imminent, I knew he would take out the female doctor, or die trying. And that scared me. He had no fear of death. It was as if he had looked it in the face once and he was prepared to die if it meant taking out his

  • The Luna's Fated Mate   Chapter 118 - Threats

Carrie POV It has been three months since we last saw my mother, brother, or his mate the female doctor. Everyone has been on intense alert since that fight. Our warriors were exhausted from all the additional training and extra shifts they have been taking to protect the Pack. Jessica has settled into her job working with Carleton for the Wolf Council. They continue to try and find leads as to where my family is but have had no luck. They are all wanted and considered dangerous. There are huge bounties on all of them. I do not want them captured. I want them dead. They are wreaking havoc with my family and my doctor is concerned the stress is impacting my ability to get pregnant. I am exhausted myself worrying about how much I have brought to Jackson’s doorstep. He continues to tell me to stop worrying. He will stand by my side regardless. But the Pack did not sign on for this either. They continue to be supportive, but I know they are

  • The Luna's Fated Mate   Chapter 117 - Long Gone

Carrie POV Jackson returned to us and shared what they learned so far. Which was not much. My mother had attempted to have Randy freed, but Jackson quickly replied, “It is out of my hands. The Wolf Council is taking him into custody, and he will be charged accordingly.”. “That is outrageous. We have neutralized the threat!” my mother exclaims. “Take it up with Carleton. He is making transfer arrangements as we speak,” Jackson says without sympathy. “Carrie you must do something to help your brother,” my mother pleads with me. Shaking my head, “I am sorry, but I cannot. He betrayed me and my Pack; had he succeeded it would have been the end of us,” I reply to her. Jackson looks at me with love and pride at my response. The rage that crosses my mother’s face surprises me, but she quickly contains it. That causes me to pause for a moment as I watch her. “You have his wolf, his powers … what more do you want?” she asks coldly. “It is not abo

  • The Luna's Fated Mate   Chapter 116 - Uncertain

Carrie POV “Do you sincerely believe he deserves to have his wolf, after all that he has done?” my mother asks. I sit with that question. Did I think he deserved his wolf? I had not been prepared to help save him, yet I worried about him being without a wolf. A wolf was so much a part of who we were. And having been without my wolf for so long, I could easily identify with the devastation. “I do not know the answer to that question,” I respond honestly. “Well, you have time to decide,” my mother replies. “What do you mean?” I ask. “You have taken his wolf into your care; you can give it back or let the wolf go to its resting place. The choice will solely be yours,” my mother says softly. I sit back in my chair and chew my food slowly. Mandy is sitting silent listening to the conversation. “What do you think?” I ask her as she looks at me in surprise. “I think it is as your mother has said. It is your choice; your decision,” she replies.
