Stella's POV.

Surprisingly, I woke up quite early in the morning. The night was pretty much well spent. Now, I felt like I could conquer the world. Stretching, I stood up from my bed and went to freshen up.

I should stop by at Kormak's home quick before Owen got up.

I hurriedly scrubbed my body before shrugging on a white shorts, white t-shirt, and blue sweatshirt to go with. I loved the way it complimented my skin and matched my eyes. My hair remained on a messy bun with tendrils fallen over my face. Feeling satisfied with how I looked, I grabbed my phone and exited the room.

Quietly, I trudged down the stairs and to the kitchen. It was after six, Kormak should be up by now. A scream tore out of my throat when I saw someone in the kitchen.

“You good?” Owen asked, getting up from the stool he occupied and to my side.

I removed my hand from my chest, “what do you think? You frightened me.”

“I apologize. But you should know that I stay here too.”

I glanced up at him. The bright light

Stella's POV.I jogged down the gravel pathway, not paying attention to where I was going. Instead, I was invested in the conversation I was sharing with Cooper.“So?” I panted. “How’s Kormak holding up?”He sighed. “Not so well. But with Aria by his side, things are being handled better.”My older step brother, Kormak, was the alpha of the Grandiose Apex pack and head of the Northern region. Recently, he was betrayed by his childhood companion and advisor, Vorus, who wanted to kill him for power. It had hit him hard because of how much he invested in their relationship. However, with Aria, his mate, being there with him, he'd the chance of moving on fast.Cooper cleared his throat. “What about you? How's the mate search going?” That was why I left. Because Aria was there and because I was on a personal quest to find my mate. I'd traveled up Southern, I still hadn't found him. But I hope I do in the West.I shrugged, slowing down my pace. “No luck. Yet.”“Hmm…you do know you can alwa

Stella's POV.When I saw no one in the security house, I pushed the second gate open and the alarm started to blare.Well, interesting. They used the first gate to lure prey. Okay, maybe they were more than stupid. I'd be sure to leak this method to Kormak. Our pack could also use some advancement.I trudged in and walked past the security office before I got ambushed. Standing before me were men armed with weapons, ready to attack.“Wait!” I shouted, “there is a boy in my arms.” And I didn't want to die. “He's severely injured and in need of medical attention. Now!” Four men came forward. One of them roughly grabbed the kid who already passed out from me and the other three pinned me down. Pressing my head into the floor.“Who the hell are you and what have you done to him?!” One of them roared. He didn't give me a chance to answer before he pressed my head into the sand. “Answer me!!”Maybe if you gave me space to breathe, I would. One thing I hated all my life was men touching me.

Owen's POV.“Get the doctor here, now!” I ordered no one in particular, but one of the guards standing around scurried after my demand. “Arrange a room.” I said to my Gamma this time.I watched the unmoving female in my arms. She looked so thin and pale from blood loss. Shit. My wolf stirred within me, panicking and shouting mate which was making me not to think. When I was 12, our pack got raided. It happened in the night, when I was sleeping. My parents thought I was going to be fine alone with guards littered around while they went to take care of the crisis. And till now, they still regret having left me there because my parents or pack were not the target, I was.A few of the rogues managed to snuck past the security and warriors, aiming for our home. They had set it on fire, along with I and the guards inside. Most of them lost their lives on the spot and the guard who found me met me halfway burnt on the floor when I tried to make it out. He couldn't make it after saving me.I

Stella's POV.I felt like crap.My skull hammered in my head and it felt like my intestines were twisting itself, making me feel nauseous. My limbs are heavy, not moving. In short, everything hurts and I just wanted to go back to sleep. And that was what I did, slept. The next time I woke up, it didn't smell like bleach. I slowly peeled my eyes open and managed to sit up. I removed the oxygen mask from my face and scanned the room. However, the heart monitor beeped loudly, making me groan.I stretched towards it and turned it off. Just in time for the front door to ram open. The man who strangled me before I passed out, also known as my mate, walked in.I could be mistaken. I mean, how hadn't I known he was my mate until I looked into his eyes? I wished I was, but he standing before me proved otherwise. He was actually my mate. And he strangled me.Like hell I'd stay with an abuser. His eyes remained on me as I stood up from the bed. I hated the way I felt warmth because of his penet

Stella's POV.I woke up to banging on the door. My head felt like it was being splitted into numerous halves. It was irritating, even more when that person behind the door didn't stop. I scowl, getting up from the bed and storming over to the door. Before the door fully opened, I snapped. “What?!” I glared at the person before me. “If no one answered, was that not a sign for you to leave?” The male, who I vividly remember as one of the idiots I knocked up the last time I was here, shifted on his feet. His gaze remained on the floor. “I apologize.”I rolled my eyes. He could at least do it like a man. I was about to ask what he wanted, but the suitcase beside him caught my attention. I blinked and stood straight, what was he doing with my bag? I recall leaving it in the other pack before I went on my run.He spoke again, this time looking up. “Alpha Owen asked me to bring your things to you.” How on earth did Owen know where I was staying?? No, wrong question. What made him think I'd

Owen snapped his eyes shut, like he wasn't meant to let me know about that.News flash, it was already too late.“What on earth does that mean?” I asked, trying to wrap my head around the fact that my mate— no, Owen thought that I was an accident.“Stella—” He started, taking a step closer.“Stay where you are!” I half yelled. I didn't like the fact that I was getting worked up. Just a few seconds away, I had an unstable heart. Now my stomach felt weird, like a vomit was working its way up. And I hated that he could bring this out of me. “Why can't I tell you are my mate? I can't scent you, I don't feel the tinglings or other things mate feel. I don't even feel the mate bond!” I breathed, asking the questions that had been bothering me. “Why? What's going on?”He heaved out, sitting down on the bed and tapped the spot next to him. Stella's POV.“You're the Stella?!” Cassandra said, dropping on the chair beside me.I stared at my fork full of meat in agony before reluctantly dropping my fork on the plate before me. I twisted my head and looked at the gaping fish beside me. This didn't look like it'd end soon. “I don't know what you're the Stella means,” I said, air quoting the question she threw at me. “But since you're the second person asking me that today, then yes. I am the Stella. Can you get lost now? I'd love to eat in peace.” I waved her off, turning back to my meal. She scoffed. “That was rude.”“Well, maybe it's because you're disrupting my meal.” I snapped at her, a glare on my face. I just wanted to eat, fam. Not talk. I closed my eyes and sighed. “Look, I hadn't eaten for 42 hours counting, I'm seriously starved and I'd love to just eat my meal in peace?” “You do precede their words,” she leaned into the chair and began to tap her black polished manicured nails on the table. “Leave her alone, Case

Stella's POV.“Stella?” Aria's worried voice rang through the phone again. An imagery picture of her flicking with the sleeve of her sweatshirt invaded my mind and I smiled lightly.“Aria, I promise I'll tell you later, okay?” I left the hallway for the elevator. “Say hi to family for me, hm?” With her promising to call later, we hung up. I pushed the door of my room open and went to change into my gym wear. I wouldn't have had my bath if I knew I'd be training later, but oh well… I guess showering again wasn't bad.I seriously needed to punch something or preferably, someone. After changing into a spandex black shorts and tank top, I grabbed my water bottle, keypad, and exited the room. Somehow, I asked around and I found myself in an actual grand gym. It has literally all the equipment anyone could need. I gaped in astonishment. When I began to get curious glances from people training, I closed my mouth and walked further inside the room. Stella's.Cooper let go of me and we both looked at Owen. Leaving his side, I stood beside my mate and passed him a soft smile before looking back at Cooper. “This is—”“I do know who he is,” Cooper said, cutting me off. I kissed my tongue and glared at him but he only winked back. The nerve of this guy. Right in front of my mate. An alpha for that matter. “Alpha Owen, I'm Cooper Stevenson, beta of Grandiose Apex.”Owen shook his outstretched hand, his face emotionless and his mouth set on a straight line. “Nice to meet you.”Lie. It was so obvious he didn't fancy Cooper, but due to the fact that he was family, he wasn't on his pack ground and he respected him, he kept it to himself. A definite alpha way.Copper nodded and stepped aside, his hand now stretched to the hallway before us. “Please, allow me to lead you to the guest house.”“Nuh-uh.” I stepped in-between them. “He stays with me.” I peered up at Owen whose eyes never once drifted from me. “Right?”Cooper looked between us.

Stella's POV.Owen's gaze lingered on me. The barely lit room spinned around me and I staggered, my breath became laboured. Owen hurriedly held me and slowly guided my butt to the bed. Dead. Coma. The two words swirled in my brain like a tsunami, and all I could see was Aria’s body laid on Kormak's lap and her chest not moving. And I hated that. No, Aria was the number one person who truly knew me and loved me despite it all. I needed Aria to be okay because that was the only way I could be okay, too.She died, I died. That was the way I saw it.It was as if I was electrocuted back to life. I abruptly stood up and stared up at Owen, I clawed on his forearm, constantly repeating Aria's name. He got the memo and pulled on my wrist. I had no idea when we got downstairs or how we got into his car. Everything felt like a haze daze. And I wanted out.Because I badly needed Aria to be okay. I couldn't even begin to think about what Kormak could be going through right now.He needed me. Th

Stella's POV. I usually wake up early everyday. I mean, I was a doctor and it required me to always be on my feet. Up and ready. So, tell me, what on earth Owen added to the food that had me getting up at 10 am today?? Bruv, I had no idea when 8 am passed me by. Gosh. I didn't like this, honestly. But some part of me did need the break because I felt refreshed, like I could carry the world on my shoulders. With nothing to wear, I only brushed my teeth and washed my face before going downstairs in Owen's boxer and shirt that was big on me. I couldn't possibly sleep in what I wore yesterday. By the time I appeared at the top of the stairs, I began to wonder if Owen was in because I heard not a noise, the lights in the hallway were turned off too. With my mouth pushed to the side, I gingerly walked down the stairs, peeking through the glass railing. The kitchen was also empty and when I got to the living room, I found it empty, too. Did he seriously leave me here alone with n

Stella's POV.“How do you know how to cook?” I asked curiously.Owen dropped his fork and took a sip out of his wine before answering. “I taught myself how to. Whenever my parents had pack business to attend to. And it became easier when Logan was born.”“How's Logan?” I should seriously check up on him. What sort of doctor didn't check up on their patient? “His legs,..” I trailed off.“Oh, he's well now. Thanks to you.” His eyes shone with appreciation.“Yet I almost got stranded for it.” I muttered jokingly, placing a forkful of chicken in my mouth. But apparently, Owen didn't catch that.Owen suddenly choked on his food and coughed. I paused on my chewing and sat up. “Are you okay?”He said nothing and drank water. Then, cleared his throat and gazed at me intently. “What?” I shifted in my seat and swept my hair away, feeling awkward from his blatant stare.“How petty are you?” I blinked, taken aback by his question. “What?” I asked, not sure I heard him right.“Will you ever let

Stella's POV. It was a few minutes to 7 and my heart could no longer contain my chest. As Chris drove, I stared out through the window and tried to calm my racing heart by staring at the tall buildings and people passing by. “How big is the pack?” I asked Chris. We've been on the road for over 30 minutes now and we still haven't reached the venue. Then, I realized that I had no idea where we were going. I snapped my head to Chris and asked before he could answer my previous question. “Where are we going?” He passed me a soft smile as if sensing my pending worry. “We'll leave the pack ground in a minute.” “That didn't answer where I was going.” I said. “The human realm.” Was all he said. What?? The human realm?? How close was the human realm to his pack? Was that not dangerous? What if a human crossed over and encountered a ranged wolf or ogre? I shifted my gaze back to the window. Chris wouldn't have the answers to my questions anyway. He was just following orders. Bu

Stella's POV.The first thing I did when I opened my eyes this morning was to call Cooper. It was like an automatic thing; calling him when things were hard or whenever I was into my head felt like a second skin. I was overwhelmed. Everything became too much. And when I asked him what to do, he said, “Stella dear, be patient. Give him the benefit of doubt. Who knows? He may end up surprising you.”And when I thought about it, I realized he was right. So, I decided not to back out and gave him the benefit of doubt, hoping he wouldn't let me down. Still not feeling okay, I went for a run. To say that worked would be an understatement. I felt good, like I wasn't a few minutes away from a mental breakdown.I tapped my foot on the brown elevator tiled floor as I waited for it to get to my room. Leaning against the wall, I held the steel iron as I regained my breath. Damn, jogging in the morning was literally the best. Soon, the elevator stopped and I stood upright as I waited for the door

Stella's POV.“Why did you bring me here, Owen?” I asked again, making sure to keep my voice straight. For a few minutes, Owen simply said nothing and just stared at me. When I started to feel uncomfortable, I shifted on the couch. Slowly, I drifted my eyes from him and occupied it by glancing at the big well furnished shelf. A specific book caught my eyes and I narrowed it on them. “Wait,” I stood up like I'd been shocked and trudged to it. Owen's eyes followed me as I picked up the book. What pulled me to it was the name written in bold cursive writing. Orion.I swerved around and raised the book in my hand. “Orion?” I glanced at Owen, then at the book. “Like, the same Orion??” Peeling the front cover and a few after that, a vibrant picture Orion sat on it. I gasped and the book fell from my hand.Owen said nothing, but kept his gaze on me.Are you kidding me?! “I tore the lycan king with my claws?!” I shrieked with eyes wide open. “How- why… jeez..” having no ability to form wor

Move your legs, Stella.” It wasn't a request, it was an order coming from an Alpha.I clenched my teeth and matched past him. When we got outside, I swerved around. “Speak. I have a patient to take care of.”“You won't go near him.” His steel voice said.My defense rose and I stared at him, ridiculously. “Excuse me?”“Should I repeat?” Owen stepped closer to me and his voice dropped an octave lower. “You don't go around hurting my people just because you're in a mood. I won't allow that.”My mouth fell open at his mean words. He didn't even give me a chance to share my story. He just assumed I hurt him. What people of his did I touch who didn't touch me first??
