Emily

Once she had gotten back to her cabin from leaving Lo’s she was a mess. How could one person have so many conflicting feelings? On the one hand she felt guilty. She was mated and married. Although Nick hadn’t felt much like a mate or husband as of late. She was a little confused about the pull she used to feel for him seemed to slowly be diminishing.

She also felt angry that Lorenzo pushed her away. She got it… in a way… but still. That wasn’t the first time that had happened. And she felt like he was so back and forth with his feelings toward her. She wished he would pick one and stay there.

Then she also felt good and happy and very turned on….

Her head was jumbled and she didn’t know where to go from here. She was lost. When she got home Charlotte called her to tell her unfortunately she couldn’t go into the towns the following day either because Nick had insisted he needed her help with paperwork.

Emily growled when she heard this. He probably found out she was plan

EmilyShe gasped. Her hand flying to her mouth at this news. “Noooo” she said. “Yes. Unfortunately so.” Nick replied. “Who is looking after him then?” She asked. Nick paused a moment before he replied. “Me”. And there lied her problem. Moments like this the boy she had fallen in love with shined through the hardened man that Nick had become. If only he wasn’t under the influence of his mother…. and hadn’t grown up with his father ….. he would probably still be that same boy. “Oh Nick…” she said. “Tutu looks after him when I can’t, same as Luca and Olivia.” He told her. Emily nodded and smiled. She had assumed so. ‘Tutu’… whose real name was Tunami…. Not to be confused with the weather related word tsunami… was an older wolf who’d been in the pack for years. She looked after all the smaller children while their parents worked. She also taught them things until they were old enough to go to the small school that was on their pack land. Emily didn’t know how she did it at h

Lorenzo Early the next morning Lo went straight to Reymond the head of the council to tell him what had happened the night before. They had planned on heading to the East that day to discuss the rogue wolves with the packs there… but with all the new information about what was going on right here, they’d postponed it until tomorrow at least. Reymond called in the other council members and told them of this new revelation… and they all decided to bring Raleigh in and question him immediately. Then they would most likely formally charge him. But first they had to tell Nick, since this all happened under his watch. Big shocker to everyone Nick got angry that they were accusing his mother’s personal guard of conspiring with rogues. He tried all sorts of tactics to say nothing was proven. First he tried to say he hadn’t given them permission to shift so none of them should have even been in the woods that night. Which made no sense that didn’t take away the fact that they saw wha

~Nicklaus~Nick was trudging— literally— through the snow on his trek back to the pack house. He didn’t know why Emily would want to travel with this much snow on the ground. Even though they were used to it, it was still dangerous driving… especially further north where the mountainous roads were nothing but a slip and slide for cars. He was in a horrible mood, understandably. He’d spent the entire day at the town hall with the council, and the asshole who was in love with his mate. Not to mention that idiot Raleigh who had gotten into goddess knows what. And if that all wasn’t bad enough, they’re trying to bring his mother in on it. This was such a shit show. He felt like he was quickly losing control of everything. The pack, his family, his mate, his entire life. He was really second guessing his decision to go through with this trial. He could’ve covered it up. But he was worried Caron would have made a big deal out of it and caused problems for him.Joke was on him though b

~Nicklaus~THE PAST It had been about a month since he met his mate Emily. She was beautiful. The most beautiful thing he had ever seen. She would make an incredible Luna, and she came from the oldest known werewolf family… so she would be powerful. And her wolf….. her wolf was something out of this world. They’d been spending some time together.. she would be joining him at his pack in a week or so. And within the year they’d be married. The only problem was this kid from her childhood was hanging on for dear life. They’d grown up together and apparently he loved her. He couldn’t blame him really, she was easy to love. Unfortunately she was very fond of him too. But Nick was here now and he was her mate. Once he marked her that would go away….surely. There were several packs coming into the Elkwood territory as there was a big party that night. Every year the packs held a get together of sorts to mix all the unmated wolves. Of course lots of the ones that were mated came as we

~ Emily ~The Present She felt like they’d been driving for days but it had only been hours when they finally arrived at her old pack territory. It was even colder here and snowier than it was back home. She wondered how it looked in Lo’s territory, he was even further north than they were. She had been trying not to think about him but it was impossible. The way he had kissed her the other night. It was if no time had passed, and they were back in her teenage bedroom again. She had to stop. She couldn’t be thinking these thoughts trapped in the car with her brothers. Emily couldn’t help herself as her mind drifted back to him slamming her against the wall…. But then he basically yelled at her, and punched a hole through the stone wall… so there was that. Brian cleared his throat. “We made it!” He said. She snapped out of her daydream really hoping no one had noticed where her mind had gone. Looking around her home pack land made her nostalgic for her younger years. People a

~Emily~She sat and stared at her dad, dumbfounded. “What??” She said… totally confused. “I was just a young teenager when I met your mother. There were several of us at that time that were still unmated. So a bunch of the neighboring packs got together and held a dance for all the high school aged kids…. Much like they did when you were a teen. You do remember that don’t you?” Her dad’s eyes twinkled. How could she forget? That was one of the most confusing and scary nights she’d ever been through. Probably the only time Lorenzo and Nick worked together on something together. And probably the last time they ever would . It took hours for the heat to wear off and all the crazed wolves to calm down. “Soon as I walked in the building I knew something was about to happen.” Her dad said. “I knew there was somebody there I was meant to meet. Her scent was the most amazing thing I had ever smelled…. It was alot like yours.” Her dad smiled at her. “I walked around the room until I spot

~Emily~ The following day after breakfast Emily went to the library hoping to see Juniper. She hadn’t seen her in a long time even though they stayed in touch and talked to one another often. Sadly June still hadn’t found her mate. Emily thought part of that was because she never left the pack and went anywhere.Even when they had big events or parties in the territory June wouldn’t go. She chose to spend most of her time in the library/bookstore she and her family owned. Emily couldn’t blame her for that though. If she could be surrounded by books all day every day, she would. June spent so much time around the books that she was one of the smartest people Emily had ever met. Over the years she had probably read every single book in that place. And it was a huge building with thousands of books. She had read all the medical and scientific books, every nonfiction book they had, and encyclopedias. She also read all the history books. Not just the human history, but the werewolf hi

~Emily~“Why are you asking Emily?” June said. “I’m pretty sure I know… but I just want to make sure we’re going down the same road here so to speak.”Emily, still deep in thought didn’t speak for a moment. “Sometimes I wonder if a mistake was made, making Nick my mate.” Emily told her. “There’s never a mistake.” June said. “There’s always a reason. Maybe you were mated with Nick not to be with him forever, and not because the two of you are actual soul mates… but because you needed to be in the position to do something or help someone. Maybe you’re mated to him so you’d be in a certain place at a certain time. You never know why… but it doesn’t always have to be so cut and dry. “And maybe….” June said. “That’s why you were given two mates.” Juniper had easily figured out Emily was asking about mates for herself, and she was pretty certain Lorenzo had something to do with it. “Maybe,” June continued. “You were blessed with a second one because he’s going to be the one you love

Emily THE PRESENT The entire room was complete silent. No one spoke, no one moved. Once Emily finished her story she stood.. waiting. But still no one said a word. It felt like everyone was holding their breath. Emily let out a huge sigh as tears came to her eyes. She felt the biggest weight off her chest as she turned to look at her brothers. who were both in tears as well. They finally knew. Everyone. Finally. Knew. She noticed more people in the crowd had tears in their eyes as well. She looked over at Nick.. who kept his head bowed. He wouldn’t even glance at her. Ellis caught her eye.. he gave her a small encouraging nod and smile. Finally after what seemed like forever, Reymond stood up and said: “thank you, Emily. You may sit down. Reymond asked if anyone else had anything to say or add. Nobody did. And then he said the trial would adjourn for the next three days. Even though he didn’t say it, Emily assumed that meant they’d have a decision by then. An outcome, for what

Emily THE PAST Emily was so shocked by Susan’s confession she couldn’t even believe what she was hearing. Emily couldn’t breathe. She couldn’t move. She couldn’t speak. “Granted I was trying to kill you… if that makes you feel better.” Susan kept talking. Emily was lost in a cloud of darkness. Confusion and shock was all she could feel. She still hadn’t said a word. Susan started laughing. LAUGHING.That did it. That brought Emily out of whatever darkness she was in. “You’ll go to the dungeons for this.” Emily told her. Susan laughed even harder. “Wanna bet?? My brother would never allow it. My MOTHER would never allow it.” Susan boasted. “Nick will put you there himself when he finds out what you did.” Emily spat at her. Susan stopped laughing. She looked at Emily dead in the eye. “Oh sweet sweet naive little Emily. Nick already knows. He knew right after it happened. He’s known for ten fucking years!!” Susan yelled. Emily was shaking her head. No. No he couldn’t ha

Emily THE PAST Emily slowly opened her eyes. It was still dark out, but something had woken her. She looked at the clock and saw it was the middle of the night. She turned over.. Nick still hadn’t come to bed. That was normal though. He stayed up all hours of the night working in his office. She turned over to go back to sleep, but seconds later a sound had her eyes popping open again. It was her phone. Someone was calling her. But who would be calling so late? Oh goddess. She hoped nothing was wrong with her dad. She picked it up and answered without looking at the number. But when the person on the other end spoke, her mouth dropped open in shock. If you would’ve asked her who would be calling… anytime… much less the middle of the night, Susan would have been at the very bottom of that list. But here she was. “Emily??” Susan said panicked. “Susan?” Emily answered. “Yes. It’s me. I’m so sorry to wake you. But I need your help.” Susan said, fear in her voice. “What’s

Emily She was going back to her trial that day. Whether she was ready to or not. But she was thankful for the past few days with the kids. They were some she would never forget. Lo had called her last night. He said he’d been thinking about her, and she was glad to hear his voice. Once they’d talked a bit — he told her about the guards training and how full the pack was with all the visitors.. she said she would love to see it one day. She said it without thinking of the implication behind it. But she had only been to Lo’s pack once years ago. It sat it in the northernmost region. Surrounded by majestic mountains and beautiful turquoise lakes, and the tallest pine and sequoia trees, it was an actual heaven on earth. “I would love that.” He told her. After a moment of silence he asked a question that surprised her. “Mo… do you think Nick has a second mate?” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~That question had been on her mind all night, and was still hanging around this morning. This whole secon

Lorenzo They had finished eating and were cleaning up when Collins walked into the pack house. Lo watched her walk all the way to the kitchen and speak to her mother, then turn and look around until she found his eyes. A small smile landed on her face. Lorenzo cleared his throat and immediately looked away. When he raised his head up again Jarvis was smirking at him. “Shut the fuck up.” Lorenzo said as he walked back towards his office. Jarvis followed him though, clearly not finished throwing jibes at him. “What would her daddy say?” Jarvis joked. Lo sighed. He told his beta to come in his office and close the door. He needed to tell him everything, so he would stop with the poking. He’d probably see alot of looks going on between them and he didn’t feel like listening to Jarvis’s unwelcome narration every damn day. Once he’d told him everything his beta stared at him with a confused look. “So… Nick is Emily’s first mate… and you’re her second mate?” Jarvis said. “We thi

Lorenzo They were coming in the pack house for a break from the rigorous training they’d been doing for a few weeks now. Lorenzo was happy to help train. But at the same time he had other pack duties and responsibilities he needed to be working on. Not to mention his mind was miles and miles away with Emily still. After he’d heard about Charlotte, he wanted to go to her immediately. But because he had been back and forth so much he decided to wait and go for the funeral instead. He had people coming into his territory those days anyway. And he didn’t want to leave Jarvis by himself to deal with all that. He had agreed to house several of the guards from his region that were training for the group that was going to the east. Part of the council had already been to most of the packs in the north, and they needed somewhere to put everybody. So he took in some of them. But that meant housing and food for all these people as well. It was a big undertaking.. and he couldn’t leave and

Emily ……………….……………….It had been two weeks since that day in the hospital when Charlotte took her last breath holding Emily’s hand. Emily had sat there and cried until Dr. Pavarti came in and unhooked Charlotte from all the machines. Something hit Emily in that moment. And she couldn’t hold it in any longer. She screamed. A painful, heart wrenching sound came from her. She screamed some more. Then she screamed again. She got up and ran out of the hospital into the cold night air. And she screamed some more.People were coming outside that had heard her, she’d woken them up in the middle of the night but she didn’t care. Her brothers and Maeve had come to the hospital too. They must’ve been in the waiting room but she didn’t even see them. They stood behind her not saying anything. Alan was a mess… he really liked Charlotte and Emily had hoped they’d end up mates one day. Alice came outside then, tears running down her face as well. But she was holding it together. Emily d

Emily She walked back into Charlotte’s room slowly… not wanting to face what the doctor has told her. Pam walked by her on her way out and laid her hand on her arm. “Just in case it’s what we think it is, tell her goodbye Emily. Most people don’t get that chance. But you do. Tell her everything you want.” Pam whispered as she left the room. She repeated basically exactly what the doctor had told her mere seconds ago. She wondered if they’d practiced that. A way to soften the blow when telling people their lives would forever be changed, and not in a good way. Emily was practicality full on sobbing at this point as Alice turned to her and softly smiled. “A-Alice” Emily stuttered between her sobs. “I just can’t accept what they’re say-saying. It can’t be true.” Alice hugged her tightly and then said:“It happened with my mother when she passed. It seems like the same thing to me.”Emily cried harder. “We would need a miracle Emily and I don’t think it’s coming. I’ve said my

Emily The look on Maeve and Brian’s faces were enough to know it was bad. She didn’t wait on any explanations, or to ask any questions. She just took off running. She ran and ran and ran all the way back into the middle of the territory. Up and down the streets, cutting through woods and peoples yards to get there as fast as she could. She finally saw the hospital up ahead. She slammed through the front door and ran through the waiting room. She kept going. Get to Charlotte. That’s all that mattered. Finally when she got to her room she skidded to a stop. She opened the door and went inside. Dr. Pavarti, Pam, and Alice stood around her bed. Emily closed her eyes, listening. Breaths. Faint but there. She was still alive. “What happened??” Charlotte demanded. At her voice Charlotte’s eyes opened just barely. She had woken up???“Oh goddess!” Emily cried as she ran to the bed. “Charlotte!” She cried and cried and thanked goddess her friend was waking up. “Emily….” Dr. Pavar
