Emily

Once she left Nick she and her brothers went back to her cabin. She wanted to clean a little before the kids came over. She had asked her brothers if they could help her cook something that they’d like.

They said of course they would, and decided on burgers. Maeve and Charlotte were already there when they arrived. Nick still wouldn’t allow Charlotte to come to the trial for some reason, so Maeve stayed behind with her that day.

They’d gone to Charlotte’s, and helped her mom with the store. They were running low on supplies so she was going to have to take a trip to the human town soon and restock everything.

A couple hours later and a knock on the door there stood Nick with Olivia. And he had brought Luca…

“Hi guys!” She said, absolutely thrilled that Nick had listened to her.

Olivia came right to her and gave her hugs but Luca was still standing at the door with Nick.

She sat Olivia down and leaned over to her son.

“Luca I’ve missed you so much.” She said.

Emily Emily felt like she didn’t know how much longer she could go without sleeping. She hadn’t slept well in weeks it seemed like. Even after the trial started and she was in this wonderfully cozy cabin… as night rolled around she became more and more restless. She thought surely she’d get a good nights sleep last night after having such a great visit with the kids. But no, she tossed and turned for hours. It seemed to her that she finally got settled around 5 AM. Only problem was, she had to get up a couple hours later. Maybe she’d see if the pack doctor would give her some medicine to help her sleep. Maybe she would have time to go and see him today. That morning before they left for the trial she and her brothers plus Maeve sat around the table eating breakfast. She loved that they’d been so supportive of her this whole time, they’d even done most of the cooking. Emily remembered she had been wanting to ask them something. “Hey guys? Who is the fifth man on the council— do

EmilyTHE PASTThe last couple of months after her first shift had been some of the best she’d ever had. The pack was good, her family was healthy and thriving, and she and Lo were becoming closer than ever. They had forever been close of course. But they had always been just on the brink of friends and something more. When they were kids growing up they were inseparable and as they got a little older… that closeness they shared started turning into something else. When Lo had his first shift he’d been pretty young still, but from that day on he started looking at her a little differently. She would catch him staring at her… and he seemed like he always needed to be close by. She of course loved this.. and had thought once she shifted, he would for sure be her mate. He must feel it she thought. Though that turned out to not be the case. In the days after her first shift she kept trying to figure out if things had changed between them. Did she feel any differently about him than

EmilyThe Present. Emily was sitting with a small smile on her lips waiting for her trial to begin. Just the knowledge she now had that the fifth man on the council was indeed a human had her spirits up. Yes it had come to this. She was excited about her murder trial, because she enjoyed how the man- Ellis- put her mate in his place. Oh well it is what it is … she had to have something to keep her spirits up, she thought. Everything around her was so dreary and depressing. And now since Lo had left without even telling her goodbye - she needed a pick me up. The council had called Sophia’s personal guard to the front for questioning. As he was making his way to the front Emily looked around and noticed Caron was not there today. She wondered why that was, and if he too had left. She then wondered about Andrew… who was looking after him? Reymond asked the guard to state his full name in which he replied “Raleigh Danvers” and then asked him to name his position, to which he said

EmilyFor the first time… she saw that Raleigh wasn’t as stoic as he had been. He began to nervously twitch his eye, and also began tapping his hands. And he took a minute to answer the question too. Finally he said. “That is correct.” “And where were the guards who are assigned to the southern entrance? Did they see these wolves… why weren’t they called?” Red asked. “They were down towards the other end. The southern entrance sits on a corner.” Raleigh said. Still, Emily thought…. They should’ve been called first they were the closest and it was their post. This was starting to sound like it had Sophia written all over it. What a mess. “They were down towards the other end….” Ellis repeated abashed. “They were down towards the other end??!!” He looked at Red and Reymond incredulously as they both looked at him shaking their heads. None of them could believe all this. Still the other two council members weren’t saying anything. But the three of them were getting more and more

Emily THE PAST Emily didn’t let what Maeve told her about mates bother her too much. Well, after a couple of weeks anyway. She decided just to live her life and be happy. And to let whatever happened with Lo, just happen. Humans talked about having soul mates and if anything.. she decided that’s what Lorenzo was to her. She had woken up that morning to snow on the ground. Even though they got a lot of snow the season had just started… and the first snow every year was the absolute best. Emily absolutely loved the cold and couldn’t wait to go out and play in it. She had gotten dressed and ran downstairs to eat breakfast. She kept on watching the door waiting for her brothers and Lorenzo to come, who had all moved into a little house down the road. She had a nervous excitement building in her and she couldn’t sit still. Her dad was watching her with a comical look as she stuffed her bacon and eggs in her face. Apparently she thought the faster she ate, the quicker they’d come.

Emily The Present By the time they’d gotten back to her cabin the ground was just about covered. She ran inside to get a beanie, scarf, and gloves while her brothers went next door to get theirs. They’d most likely end up removing them and shifting but for the time being they would need them. Even though the cold didn’t bother them much…. Firstly wolves ran hotter than the average human. Their body temps considerably higher than the normal 98.5 degrees. And also they lived in the colder climate year round so they were used to it. Still the wind was cold and they could get frostbite, even though there wasn’t a chance for them to catch a cold. She wished her children were there to play with them. She’d have to tell Nick to let them come the following day… she was sure the snow would still be there by then. Emily and her brothers met in her backyard. They immediately started throwing snowballs at each other. She decided then and there she needed to purchase a sled for them to play

Lorenzo He had just gotten back to the Blackforest territory when a huge snowfall began. He had gone to take care of the pack business he needed to… and he had returned. He wondered what had conspired at the trial in the days he had missed. Although Janine had wanted to come back with him, he needed her to go back to his pack and help his beta, Jarvis, take care of things. She agreed, though he knew it bothered her. She should be used to it by now though. Lo had made it perfectly clear on many occasions that he would never get involved seriously with her. He guessed he had messed that up some though. There were times when they acted like they were exclusive. Whenever he felt like things were getting too serious though he would take a break from her…. and then go sleep with a few other women just to drill it into her head. But Janine had been a constant in his life for many years. And because she was his secretary, and took care of all the Luna responsibilities in the pack they h

Emily THE PAST Emily, her brothers, Lo, and Maeve…of course…. Had spent the last couple months in a winter wonderland. She had been having the time of her life playing in the snow with her family. Which Lorenzo was naturally lumped in with and now, Maeve was also a part of. Her brother’s girlfriend was the closest thing to a girl-friend that Emily had. Most of the girls her age in the pack steered clear of her. At first because she was the Alpha’s daughter… and then because they were jealous of her friendship with Lorenzo. And later because they were jealous of both of those things. Once she had her first shift, they became jealous of her wolf as well. So it was hard for her to make friends with her fellow pack members. Some of them tried to befriend her just to get close to her brothers and Lorenzo. She found out really quickly she was being used. Some of the girls made fun of her to the point of bullying, and others straight out ignored her. There was one other girl in her pac

It felt like everyone was holding their breath. Emily let out a huge sigh as tears came to her eyes. She felt the biggest weight off her chest as she turned to look at her brothers. who were both in tears as well. They finally knew. Everyone. Finally. Knew. She noticed more people in the crowd had tears in their eyes as well. She looked over at Nick.. who kept his head bowed. He wouldn’t even glance at her. Ellis caught her eye.. he gave her a small encouraging nod and smile. Finally after what seemed like forever, Reymond stood up and said: “thank you, Emily. You may sit down. Reymond asked if anyone else had anything to say or add. Nobody did. And then he said the trial would adjourn for the next three days. Even though he didn’t say it, Emily assumed that meant they’d have a decision by then. An outcome, for what

Emily THE PAST Emily was so shocked by Susan’s confession she couldn’t even believe what she was hearing. Emily couldn’t breathe. She couldn’t move. She couldn’t speak. “Granted I was trying to kill you… if that makes you feel better.” Susan kept talking. Emily was lost in a cloud of darkness. Confusion and shock was all she could feel. She still hadn’t said a word. Susan started laughing. LAUGHING.That did it. That brought Emily out of whatever darkness she was in. “You’ll go to the dungeons for this.” Emily told her. Susan laughed even harder. “Wanna bet?? My brother would never allow it. My MOTHER would never allow it.” Susan boasted. “Nick will put you there himself when he finds out what you did.” Emily spat at her. Susan stopped laughing. She looked at Emily dead in the eye. “Oh sweet sweet naive little Emily. Nick already knows. He knew right after it happened. He’s known for ten fucking years!!” Susan yelled. Emily was shaking her head. No. No he couldn’t ha

Emily THE PAST Emily slowly opened her eyes. It was still dark out, but something had woken her. She looked at the clock and saw it was the middle of the night. She turned over.. Nick still hadn’t come to bed. That was normal though. He stayed up all hours of the night working in his office. She turned over to go back to sleep, but seconds later a sound had her eyes popping open again. It was her phone. Someone was calling her. But who would be calling so late? Oh goddess. She hoped nothing was wrong with her dad. She picked it up and answered without looking at the number. But when the person on the other end spoke, her mouth dropped open in shock. If you would’ve asked her who would be calling… anytime… much less the middle of the night, Susan would have been at the very bottom of that list. But here she was. “Emily??” Susan said panicked. “Susan?” Emily answered. “Yes. It’s me. I’m so sorry to wake you. But I need your help.” Susan said, fear in her voice. “What’s

Emily She was going back to her trial that day. Whether she was ready to or not. But she was thankful for the past few days with the kids. They were some she would never forget. Lo had called her last night. He said he’d been thinking about her, and she was glad to hear his voice. Once they’d talked a bit — he told her about the guards training and how full the pack was with all the visitors.. she said she would love to see it one day. She said it without thinking of the implication behind it. But she had only been to Lo’s pack once years ago. It sat it in the northernmost region. Surrounded by majestic mountains and beautiful turquoise lakes, and the tallest pine and sequoia trees, it was an actual heaven on earth. “I would love that.” He told her. After a moment of silence he asked a question that surprised her. “Mo… do you think Nick has a second mate?” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~That question had been on her mind all night, and was still hanging around this morning. This whole secon

Lorenzo They had finished eating and were cleaning up when Collins walked into the pack house. Lo watched her walk all the way to the kitchen and speak to her mother, then turn and look around until she found his eyes. A small smile landed on her face. Lorenzo cleared his throat and immediately looked away. When he raised his head up again Jarvis was smirking at him. “Shut the fuck up.” Lorenzo said as he walked back towards his office. Jarvis followed him though, clearly not finished throwing jibes at him. “What would her daddy say?” Jarvis joked. Lo sighed. He told his beta to come in his office and close the door. He needed to tell him everything, so he would stop with the poking. He’d probably see alot of looks going on between them and he didn’t feel like listening to Jarvis’s unwelcome narration every damn day. Once he’d told him everything his beta stared at him with a confused look. “So… Nick is Emily’s first mate… and you’re her second mate?” Jarvis said. “We thi

Lorenzo They were coming in the pack house for a break from the rigorous training they’d been doing for a few weeks now. Lorenzo was happy to help train. But at the same time he had other pack duties and responsibilities he needed to be working on. Not to mention his mind was miles and miles away with Emily still. After he’d heard about Charlotte, he wanted to go to her immediately. But because he had been back and forth so much he decided to wait and go for the funeral instead. He had people coming into his territory those days anyway. And he didn’t want to leave Jarvis by himself to deal with all that. He had agreed to house several of the guards from his region that were training for the group that was going to the east. Part of the council had already been to most of the packs in the north, and they needed somewhere to put everybody. So he took in some of them. But that meant housing and food for all these people as well. It was a big undertaking.. and he couldn’t leave and

Emily ……………….……………….It had been two weeks since that day in the hospital when Charlotte took her last breath holding Emily’s hand. Emily had sat there and cried until Dr. Pavarti came in and unhooked Charlotte from all the machines. Something hit Emily in that moment. And she couldn’t hold it in any longer. She screamed. A painful, heart wrenching sound came from her. She screamed some more. Then she screamed again. She got up and ran out of the hospital into the cold night air. And she screamed some more.People were coming outside that had heard her, she’d woken them up in the middle of the night but she didn’t care. Her brothers and Maeve had come to the hospital too. They must’ve been in the waiting room but she didn’t even see them. They stood behind her not saying anything. Alan was a mess… he really liked Charlotte and Emily had hoped they’d end up mates one day. Alice came outside then, tears running down her face as well. But she was holding it together. Emily d

Emily She walked back into Charlotte’s room slowly… not wanting to face what the doctor has told her. Pam walked by her on her way out and laid her hand on her arm. “Just in case it’s what we think it is, tell her goodbye Emily. Most people don’t get that chance. But you do. Tell her everything you want.” Pam whispered as she left the room. She repeated basically exactly what the doctor had told her mere seconds ago. She wondered if they’d practiced that. A way to soften the blow when telling people their lives would forever be changed, and not in a good way. Emily was practicality full on sobbing at this point as Alice turned to her and softly smiled. “A-Alice” Emily stuttered between her sobs. “I just can’t accept what they’re say-saying. It can’t be true.” Alice hugged her tightly and then said:“It happened with my mother when she passed. It seems like the same thing to me.”Emily cried harder. “We would need a miracle Emily and I don’t think it’s coming. I’ve said my

Emily The look on Maeve and Brian’s faces were enough to know it was bad. She didn’t wait on any explanations, or to ask any questions. She just took off running. She ran and ran and ran all the way back into the middle of the territory. Up and down the streets, cutting through woods and peoples yards to get there as fast as she could. She finally saw the hospital up ahead. She slammed through the front door and ran through the waiting room. She kept going. Get to Charlotte. That’s all that mattered. Finally when she got to her room she skidded to a stop. She opened the door and went inside. Dr. Pavarti, Pam, and Alice stood around her bed. Emily closed her eyes, listening. Breaths. Faint but there. She was still alive. “What happened??” Charlotte demanded. At her voice Charlotte’s eyes opened just barely. She had woken up???“Oh goddess!” Emily cried as she ran to the bed. “Charlotte!” She cried and cried and thanked goddess her friend was waking up. “Emily….” Dr. Pavar
