Chapter Thirty Two - A Little Progress

“Did you intend to invite Theo as your plus one for the party or was that a spark of inspired genius on your part thanks to the forced proximity in the storage cupboard?” Maia asked dryly as Lucy shut the door to her apartment behind her.

“It just sort of happened,” Lucy sighed as she kicked her shoes off and made her way over to her bed, throwing herself down with a relieved sigh, “Maybe it was because we got in and out without being discovered…”

“If it wasn’t for Theo we probably would have been discovered,” Maia grumbled, “You know, we should really focus on training these skills, who knows when they might come in handy again because let’s face it, we don’t know if we’ll be able to prevent Theo’s disappearance.”

Lucy grimaced as she reached for the files she had thrown beside her.

“Don’t be such a pessimist, Maia. I have faith in us. If we can change our fate, there's no reason we can’t change his too…whatever happened to him.”
