CADEN’S CONCERN

ARIA'S POV

The air in the manor was colder than usual.

Even with the fire blazing in the hearth, I couldn’t shake the chill that clung to my skin, not from outside, but from within. It had been three days since the warning, the warning that had completely derailed my trajectory of thoughts.

I'd had no choice but to go to Caden and reveal the things I'd found out that night, including the mark and the strange woman who had refused to tell me her name.

And I couldn’t forget the way Caden had looked at me afterward.

He didn’t say it aloud, but I saw it in his eyes, the weight of everything he was trying to hold together. The fear he wouldn’t admit. The worry etched into the tight lines of his jaw.

His eyes never left me for long these days, as if he were trying to memorize my face in case I disappeared. He had fretted over me and had given Sophia strict instructions not to let me out of her sight.

I wandered down the long corridor toward the pack's private training yard, boots silent

ARIA'S POV I’d made up my mind. I was going to leave. No, I wasn't going to run away. I needed to leave to know about my history. I was tired of being lied to. Tired of second-guessing every choice I made like they weren't the right choices. I had retired to my room and was pacing, confused on how to actually break the news to Caden. He would be devastated, but I couldn't help it. I really had to leave. From my quarters, I heard Damian say something and I guessed that Caden had come back. I mustered my brightest smile and plastered it on my face. “You're back!” I said a little too cheerfully when the doors opened. Caden was indeed back, but his countenance was not smiling. His shoulders were sagged and he walked like the whole world was resting on his shoulders. “What happened?” I asked as I led him to the bed. He looked at me, his eyes cloudy. “ The guards found a body.” his eyes were cloudy. “The creature’s” I gasped. It was as if a force had pushed me down and I found mys

  • The Luna Queens Blood Moon Curse   THE TRAINING

ARIA'S POVThe time was here. If I was going to beat the enemy camp then I needed to discover my powers and train myself. This wasn't going to be a child's play. Processes had been put in place to train me. For instance, I was going to meet with the best swordmaster of the pack, Dylan. I would have actually preferred Caden to teach me but he was held up in his duties and without saying it, we both knew time was no longer on my side. The nightmares had not stopped, neither had they reduced. Instead, Paria's sorrowful face was etched in my face like a fingerprint and I couldn't forget the marks on the creature's body. But I'd decided to move on. I'd moved back into the main part of the manor but had still not started going outside. The servants whispering had not stopped. The ones that came in contact with me, refused to meet my gaze, just doing whatever thing that brought them there and leaving almost immediately. Sophia was the only one who managed to stay in the room with me,

  • The Luna Queens Blood Moon Curse   THE TASTE OF POWER

ARIA'S POV “My lady,” Sophia whined. “You'll be late for your training.” I tossed. “Just five minutes more.” I said to her and turned to find a more comfortable position. “That was exactly what you said 30 minutes ago.” She grumbled. “Master Caden will be pissed if he comes in here and sees that you're not ready.” I hmmed her. My entire body was aching me. I know I'd been fired up to continue the trainings with Dylan yesterday, but now I wasn't so sure I would survive another day. “Just five minutes, Sophia.” And in a bid to extend my time, I asked her another question in the hopes that she wouldn't notice. “Have you prepared the bath water?” “My Lady!” She groaned. “The water has been changed three times because you like it three times.” “Oh my god, Sophia. You wouldn't just relent.” I groaned and rolled off the bed. She smiled sheepishly. “That's exactly why you love me my Lady.” She said and I rolled my eyes. I was late. I knew. I needed to. “Are you done resting?” Dylan asked. Caden had already returned to his duties. I nodded. “That's good, cause we still have to continue.” He said, standing up and motioning for us to go into the forest. “From what I've gathered, we still have a lot of work to do. And because we don't know what your powers are, we have to try out almost all the things.” I was confused. “Can't we just focus on the water for now?” I asked. He shook his head. “I'm using Paria's template for you, Aria. She was good with the water and she was also good with the sword. So I need to confirm if that's the same thing for you so we can know where to actually concentrate more on.” This was the longest Dylan had said to me since the beginning of the training. • The Luna Queens Blood Moon Curse   A DAY IN MY LIFE

Aria's POVIt was back again, the dream, it was as vivid as ever. I could see flames licking the shadows of those trying to put it out and there was that overwhelming scent of smoke and iron that engulfed me where I was rooted.I was always standing helplessly, not offering help or getting help. The helplessness clawed at my chest as my pulse raced, I tried reaching out as always, a struggle to move and just be close to them. To help them in my little way but slowly their faces, my parents blurred out before me as their terrifying sharp scream plunged and twisted my heart in pain. It hurts! Then the struggle to do something became intense as I shouted at the top of my voice then I heard it, loud and clear in my head…I was brought back to reality by the piercing sound from the metal gong alarm, I jolted upright with my heart pounding as I gasped for air in my small cramped frigid room. I was sweating profusely as the familiar shiver of disappointment hit and washed over me as I looked

  • The Luna Queens Blood Moon Curse   …AND I MET HIM

Aria's POVI moved tirelessly as the entire day went in a blur of orders, of snapping voices and of aching muscles. I moved from one end to the other, decorating the packhouse and its gate. The streets of the city were decorated by pack members but I was left with the task of decorating the city central where the main festival would be taking place. There was a little help but I couldn't really call it help because they just barked orders and pointed out what I should do while they did the easy task involved. If I didn't do a good job, they would tear it down and ask me to do it again. They scrutinized everything I did, even when I was polishing the floors. They were either barking orders or throwing insults in my way or shoving me out of the way to look like they were the one doing most of the work.“Hey, Omega! You need to be careful with those clumsy hands of yours," one of the older maids suddenly barked, almost startling me as I carefully set a row of crystal glasses on the table

Aria's POVThe meeting room was stifling as every face in the room turned towards me, one could see that most of them looked at me like I was some fragile flawed creature that happened to be on display. I had been commanded to kneel down before the assembled cabinet officials and the two Alphas despite Alpha Caden displeasure.I could feel my heart pounding like ever before in my chest as the whispers I heard which stopped and floated around me, I tried not to coward out at their sharp and judgemental whispers and gaze.I instead kept my head and gaze lowered as I tried to steel myself against the endless wave of embarrassment, shame and humiliation from last night that I was still suffering from. I slightly looked up as the whispering shifted into murmuring, Alpha Talon sat at the end of the room with his eyes flickering with intense cold and a dismissive gleam.Just beside him, adjacently, Alpha Caden who I have come to learn his name, sat with a warm gaze which steadily rested on m

The wind was howling through my windows, the room eerily quiet.I'd switched on the lights so the room would at least lighten up and I would be able to see whatever thing that crawled on the ground or flew in the air.The star shaped mark was pounding on my arms like it was being triggered, more like breathing. It was as if there was a living being, resting on my arm.Tired of tossing on my bed, I sat up on the edge of the bed, picking up a pillow and wedging it on my lap.Caden had offered to sleep with me in the room but I'd declined. For one, he had a lot of things to do as regards the pack and had been declining them on my behalf. I didn't want him to be behind schedule because of me.The second one was that if he slept in the same room with me, he would most likely notice the mark on my arm. And I wasn't ready to tell him that I'd disobeyed his orders. When Sophia was preparing me for the night, I swore her to secrecy, saying she wouldn't divulge anyt

It was so quiet as though it was uninhabited by the wolves that stayed close-by.The sun was shining brightly but it looked like the canopy of trees was preventing the sun from making its entrance, making the forest a little too cloudy. The past two days had been me resting in the confines of my room per Caden's instruction. I was tired and the air in my room was now too stale. I needed to explore. And by exploring, I needed to be outside the manor.Frankly, I hadn't been here before. This forest was like a bridge. A bridge between the outside world and the inside world. I felt a pull, one I couldn't quite comprehend. It was as if there was something drawing me here, silently screaming my name and I felt compelled to check whatever it was out.I felt terrified. I was away from the safety of the manor, away from the eyes of Caden and the rest of the pack but I couldn't resist the urge

Having had my bath and taken my evening meal,I was on the bed in my evening dress reading a novel I'd picked from Caden's library. During the tour, for one reason he hadn't taken me to the library. I'd assumed there wasn't any until we were having a conversation and he'd somehow, casually mentioned it. The library had become my go-to spot ever since. I'd just turned to the next page when I heard a scratch on my door. It looked as if someone was pacing by the door. I wasn't so sure and I wasn't ready to leave the book I was reading to check it out. Scratch. Another movement.Sophia was not here. I'd just told her to retire. I could hear the soft breathing by the door. Someone was clearly there and was carrying out all these theatrics to give me an imaginative dream when I finally fall asleep. I dumped my book and stood up quietly, putt
