Being the only child, she never dated any guy. The reason wasn't because they were strict or anything, but they trusted her with almost all the decisions in her life and she never wanted to break their trust by any means possible. Relationship is a huge step in ones life and she did not want to be indecisive and immature while taking that step. Her parents gave her a luxurious life despite the fact that they were from a simple middle class family. They always tried very hard to give her a life where she need not worry about anything. So, she never was into dating and having many male friends and creating gossips. She had only a hand full of male friends and that was it. For her hugging a guy would always feel like something new. And this instant move of Stefen left her body numb and her heart pounding like she just ran miles.
"And here we are." Those words knocked her back to reality. "I'll come to pick you up the same time tomorrow morning."
"Okay," she could not say any more words as her mind was still processing about his previous move. Why would being a friend with her mean so much to him? She got off the car and bid him and started walking.
"Maybe, I'm over thinking," she said it to herself.
Another fact about Jasmine was that she stresses a lot, even the slightest problem was enough to provide her a sleepless night and there was the possibility that today was one of those nights.
On his way back home he remembered today's morning with Jasmine, how she fed him with her hands and removed the mayonnaise from his face. Everything that she did always managed to bring a smile in his face but he controlled it not wanting her to have any ideas or make her uncomfortable. He also remembered his father's word. "It's Today that matters the most."
The day felt long as every other working days feel like. Stefen finally reached his apartment and went to refresh.
He was just getting ready to go to bed when he got a phone call. Without reading the name, he picked it up.
"Hello."
"Hey brother, how are you?"
"Kevin?..." he frowned. "What is it?"
"Oh brother, you don't waste time, do you?" Kevin sounded calm but his voice suddenly increased to a threatening. "What the hell did you say to your dad? Take back your words Stef or else I wouldn't prefer thinking twice before I make you regret for it."
"Even a 5 year old boy wouldn't be scared of your warnings Kevin. You are getting what you deserve. You did wrong by thinking my dad as an easy target. Taking advantage of his trust towards you is what led you to this position... I did what was right. I'm not undoing anything. And you better accept your wrongdoings before I ask dad to call the police," he cut the phone not waiting for any reply from the other side.
He was raged. His dad made it to this top without hurting or taking any wrong shortcuts and people trying to take advantage of his innocence was something Stefen could in no way handle. The night didn't bring any sound sleep to him.
***
Next morning he woke up feeling very somnolent.
That stupid Kevin, I wish he got my message fixed in his head.
Jasmine on the other hand wasn't feeling any good too. She woke up feeling drowsy as her night went by thinking about the hug and Stefen's behavior.
Does he like me or was he trying to play with me? But he doesn't seem like someone who'd hurt anyone. And why was he so happy when I said I'll be his friend? Was it a normal reaction and was I overthinking about it? These all were the questions that didn't let her sleep the night and roamed around her brain.
She freshened up and forced herself to get ready for work.
It's a good thing that I don't get dark circles or else I'd have to answer all the weird questions that I know Jack would throw on me. She spoke standing in front of the mirror well assured that no one could hear her.
She stood at the same place that she did yesterday waiting for Stefen to come. He came after few minutes and just like yesterday he opened the door for her. She got inside the car and as they were heading towards the office, she asked Stefen to pull in the bakery shop like the day before. She bought the exact same food as he did the previous day and they went to the office.
The morning went by smoothly. Even the lunch was good. She stayed besides Stefen while having their lunch. Jack was frowning the whole time and Alice, she was silent as usual.
***
It hadn't even been a week since Jasmine joined the company as an intern but she'd already started to feel the familiarity. She enjoyed going to the office and meeting her new friends. They were hilarious and would never miss any chance to lighten up the mood. Talking about Sandra... it's better not to say anything about her.
"So, ready to have some fun this evening?" Jack spoke joining both his palms in excitement. It was already Friday and the day for Jack's so called housewarming party.
"Yup!" Jasmine replied matching up to his excitement level.Watching Jasmine be so happy an involuntary smile crept in Stefen's lips."Could you in case not be in the celebration today?" Alice said looking towards Jack in disgust. "Could you in case not be in the celebration today?" Jack mimicked her making the other two laugh."They look cute like this, don't they?" Jasmine whispered leaning a bit closer towards Stefen."Yes... cute," he said turning his head and admiring Jasmine. She was a bit shorter than him so he could see her very clearly. She had the best smile he'd ever seen and just being around her made him feel better. As they were standing and witnessing the bad blood between Jack and Alice, all of a sudden Stefen held Jasmine's wrist and exited the hall. He kept walking without uttering a single word and Jasmine addled by his sudden pull silently walked behind him."What is it?" she finally spoke.Stefen stopped and looked behind to face her."Sorry I suddenly dragged yo
Jasmine took some cotton buds and started rubbing off the eye shadows lightly making sure not to rub it off completely. She then took a tissue paper and pressed it on Alice's lips to lighten the shine."Okay this seems... better, see," Jasmine said to Alice pointing towards the mirror in front."Thank you Jazz, even I feel better," she smiled and pressed Jasmine's hand lightly thanking her."No make-up would have also done the work you know. Or did you want to impress anyone?" Jasmine said in a teasing tone."Huh?" Alice was taken back by the question. "No," she replied, more like stated.Jasmine felt like she might have crossed the limit. "Okay we got to go now, Stefen must be on his way here," she brought up another subject. They both stood on the spot where Jasmine always stood for Stefen to come and pick her up every morning. After few minutes Stefen arrived and opened the door for the ladies. Jasmine sat on the passenger's side as always and Alice sat on the back seat.Stefen was
"Hey, everything good," Stefen came from behind and kept his arm around Jasmine's shoulder as if they'd been buddy their whole life, not letting the girl complete her words. Jasmine immediately looked up to see his face searching for anything that she could see in those drowning eyes of his that could define his behaviour. These past few days Stefen had been very close to her. She'd found him to be a genuine guy. But there were few activities that he did that always left her stunned like this one for instance."Stefen, it's so good to see you after so long." The girl whose name was Alison and had seriously a lot of make-up spoke as she moved forward and hugged him. This sudden move took him by surprise so he removed his hand from Jasmine's shoulder but still didn't hug her back.Couldn't he hug her without moving? What was so important for him to remove his hands so fast? Jasmine stared on her shoulder where Stefen left his warmth behind."Hey Alison, good to see you too." He hugged b
"Yes it is." She said not moving her head away from her drink and pausing her thoughts."Coke? Are you sure?" he said pointing at her drink.God what is the problem with people? Can't they see I'm having my drink? Do they see anyone pointing a gun at me and forcing me to drink coke instead of their usual alcohol? Jasmine was at the verge of swearing."No, I'd like a glass of milk. Could you bring that please?" she said it with an annoyed tone and ended her saying with a fake smile. There was no way there could be milk in a youths party."Woho... chill, I didn't mean to offend you. I'm sorry." He said and sat on the chair beside Jazz."A coke for me too please," he said to the bartender."Weren't you the same person who was shocked looking at me drink coke? So what's up with you having one too?... Trying to stand out?""More like trying to BLEND in," he winked at her. "And btw, don't you think you are too direct when talking to me like that miss? We're still strangers." "As far as I re
"Oh really Alison? Even Stefen here was talking about you. He was wondering where you were," Jasmine spoke looking all frustrated but with a fake smile as if she'd kill Alison just by glaring at her. Stefen was speechless hearing Jazz act weird all of a sudden.Caleb had a question mark written all over his face too. He never heard a word come out of Stefen's mouth about Alison. So, what was Jasmine taking about?"Really Stef? You were missing me so much? I missed you too baby," Alison finished her words and kissed his cheeks again replacing the previous one she gave Stefen when they greeted each other. This was it for Jasmine to control.Does this girl have a contract with the god or what that she'd die if she didn't kiss Stefen after every 1 hour? And baby? Did no one ever teach her that baby is the term used a for young CHILD not a young MAN? Jasmine's soul was cursing Alice."When's your birthday Alison," Jasmine asked."Why?" Alison asked with her fake accent, looking up not wanti
It had been a week after the house-warming party and the days were going by good for all of them. Jack had promised never to leave his jokes, Alice was squeezed in between her silent space and Jack's constant invasion, Stefen had started to open up a lot and would usually help Jack to crack jokes, Jazz on the other hand loved her new company; her friends to be precise."He would be arriving any moment," Jasmine said as she was waiting for Stefen to come and pick her up.He arrived right on time. They had started this tradition of going to the office and having their breakfast together. They took turns paying for the breakfast. They reached the company and Jasmine waited in front of the company building as always, waiting for Stefen to park his car and go in together. But as they were about to enter, Stefen got a call."Jazz just a minute," he said and took his phone out. He frowned looking at the caller name. He cut the phone and started walking. But only after few steps, the phone ran
She wasn't moving at all. Her eyes were closed. She was unconscious, at least he wished her to be only unconscious and not... Stefen came closer to Jasmine's body and knelt beside her not knowing what just happened. He didn't dare touch her body. He was traumatized."What the hell is happening here?" A voice was heard from the crowd as he was making his way towards the scene."Stefen?" Jack was shocked seeing Stefen there."What's happ... Jasmine?" Jack rushed and knelt beside Stefen. "What happened here Stefen? Are you fine?" He put his hand on Stefen's shoulder and shook it as Stefen wasn't moving at all. He looked partially paralyzed. Jack immediately took his phone out and called for an ambulance.Jasmine was soon taken to the hospital. Stefen held Jasmine's hand from the time the ambulance arrived and didn't leave her until the doctors and Jack forced him to. Holding her hand was giving him hope, hope to see her well and be with her.Stefen stayed back impatiently and Jack made a
"Dad?" Stefen said it in surprise as he saw his dad in the waiting room in the hospital. He went and immediately hugged him. He was craving for a hug from his loved one. "Oh son," Mr. William said it softly and patted his son's back. "Dad, how come you're here?" Stefen was not ready to break the hug as it was somehow comforting him. "I don't know, I just thought my son needed me after seeing the love of his life fight to survive." "What?" Stefen said as he broke the hug. "Oh come on Stef, no more denying it. I know you love her. It was her all along wasn't it?" Stefen did not have any answer to that. "What happened Stef?" Mr. William said as he saw Stefen's hand. "I will explain everything later dad. Now is not the time. Only Jasmine's health matters right now." Stefen said looking towards the closed operation room's door. Mr. William nodded his head agreeing to his son. "But, don't neglect your
Hey Jack, You are reading this letter, meaning I am not around you anymore. It’s funny when you come to think of it, we have been living under the same roof for so long but when it came to leaving, I don’t have the guts to face you and say my final goodbye. So I am writing you a letter, a letter that represents my cowardice. Thank you for giving me your friendship and the care that came along. I never realized that I had grown used to your care until now. You remember that night on the balcony you asked me ‘How you were portrayed in my eyes.’ I would like to answer that again, You Jack, you are the most annoying and stubborn person I have ever seen in my entire life. You seriously tore all our hard works into pieces without thinking deep just because you did not want me to leave. You bunk working hours and somehow always catch Sandra’s attention. You ranked 1st when it came to getting on my nerves in the initial days at the office. But… you were also the one who stood with a handke
“It feels weird to be in this room and not see Alice,” all the memories with Alice flushed back the minute they stepped in the bedroom. “I miss her too,” Stefen said. “Come,” he pulled her in and closed the door behind. Jasmine’s sadness turned into nervousness the moment she heard their bedroom door shut. She was starting to have second thoughts on letting Stefen stay with her for the night. Stefen left the hold of her hand and went to lay on the bed. He stretched his one arm on the other side of the bed, a bit lower from the pillow and titled his head, asking her to come and sleep beside him. She was happy to see him not in rush for anything and the respect he gave her and their relationship. She walked on the other side of the bed and laid on top of his hand as he caressed her hair and then embraced her back. She also hugged him tight as she rested her head near his chest, feeling his heart beat. He kissed her forehead and pulled her closer to him, “good night my princess, swee
“Are you sure about this?” Stefen said as he kept both his hands on both side of his pants pocket… helpless. “Yeah,” Alice said as she was almost done packing. She had reached Jack's apartment before anyone else and she had changed into her comfortable clothes as she started packing all her things up. “When will you be back? You will be right?” Jasmine asked standing beside Stefen, equally helpless. “I don’t know,” Alice gave a false smile. “Can we do anything to make you stay?” Stefen asked. “I HAVE TO GO. The plane ticket is expensive you know…” Alice laughed, completely failing to prove that she was fine with all this. “But I thought you were staying. you said you’d throw away the ticket,” Jasmine asked befuddled. “Well then, it’s good I didn’t, right?” She forced smile again. “Can I ask you for a last favor? Can you drop me to the airport?” Alice asked Stefen. “That's not gonna be a problem but... let’s just wait for some time. Jack must be on his way. Let me call him-” S
Jack looked at Alice hearing her as he narrowed his eyebrows, questioning her what she meant. “You don’t have anything to worry about,” Alice looked back at Jack with tears threating to fall down anytime. “Because we are not together… and we will never be together,” tears rolled down her cheek as she said those words. But she immediately wiped her tears and smiled. She gave one last glance to Jack and she walked away without another word. “Alice?” Jasmine followed her. Jack stood still, processing what Alice said. Just few hours back Alice promised to be by his side despite any hurdles and now she was contradicting her own words. Realizing that he can’t let her go he walked forward to go after her but he was held back by Alison. “Where are you going?” she questioned him. “Don’t tell me you are going after her after hearing all the things I’ve just said,” she was exasperated. Seeing that he was being the extra in the conversation Stefen approached Jack and tapped his back, “I’ll g
Alice reached the top floor and when she went to the roof no one was there. “Ha,” she gave a short sarcastic laugh. “Another prank-” But before she could say anything more, she was pushed from behind and she fell on her knees and hands. The slit dress contributed in bruising her knees. She turned around to see the person and was out of words at the sight. Alison stood tall in front of her with a cunning smile. “Hello there! Are you hurt?” sarcasm was evident in her voice. “What the- it was you all along?” Alice said slowly getting back on her feet, dusting her hands, suppressing the pain her new bruises gave her. She was shocked. “Surprise,” Alison moved her hands from her head to toe presenting herself. “Do you like my surprise?” “There,” Stefen pointed at a TV. “There’s Alice.” “She's on the rooftop," Jasmine exclaimed. "Let's go." "Okay, I will call Jack and tell him to be there," Jasmine picked her phone and dialed his number. They rushed towards the elevator and pressed o
“Okay everyone,” the host stood with a mic and grabbed all the attention with his voice audible from all the speakers from all the directions. “The most awaited time has finally arrived. Grab your partner and be ready, because today the sun will set only after witnessing 'A Beautiful Couple Dance'. So hurry up and ask for the permission to dance… LIGHTS,” the lights in the hall all went off and in the center blue and white lights glowed, making the air more calm and peaceful. Couples started coming forward and dancing along the music, under the blue and white light in a slow and romantic tune. The lights gave a winter vibe and the dance between two hearts warmth the place. “Can I have the honor?” Stefen opened his hand. “It would be mine,” Jasmine placed her hand on top and they walked towards the dancing area. “Will you dance with me?” Jack asked… unsure. “I don’t know, I am a terrible dancer,” she wasn’t lying. “Then that makes the two of us.” Alice chuckled and accepted his h
Stefen looked at the person and chuckled. “Yeah, we are where we should be,” he made her sit down and he himself took a chair beside her. “Hello Mr. Wills!” Jasmine said in a low voice and the man diverted his focus from his PA to Jasmine. “Oh, didn’t see you two arrive,” he smiled. “And please Jazz, call me Uncle, end the formalities,” he raised his eyebrows and nodded wanting Jasmine to approve. Jasmine just smiled and Mr. Wills went back to talking to his PA. Jasmine pulled Stefen by his coat and whispered in his ears. “Why is Mr. Wills talking this sweet and how does he know my nickname?” Stefen laughed hearing her. “Hey, what’s so funny?” “Why don’t you ask these questions directly to him?” “What?” Jasmine’s eyes widened knowing his intention. “No Stefen, no no-” “Dad?” “Hmm?” Mr. Wills looked back at Stefen. “Dad?” Jasmine was addled as she looked at Mr. Wills. “My girlfriend here wanted to know why you asked her to call you Uncle and how do you know her nickname.” “
As they were walking down the stairs the boys were waiting for them with their hands in their pant pockets and legs slightly parted. Jack had worn white shirt whereas Stefen had worn a black shirt. However it did not do a good job when it came to hiding their well-built body. Both had worn black coat on top and black pants. Both the boys and their cool pose flew along the thin air when they saw the girls. Jasmine walked down with a shy smile as she saw Stefen and his intent gaze. She looked down on her steps to avoid his eyes to which Stefen smiled. He was swooned. On the other hand, Jack was frozen. He had seen her after so long though they were living under the same roof and after all the distance he suffered, this view blew him away. Alice was walking beside Jasmine, her eyes only focused on his. She noticed how her heartbeat rose seeing Jack and she was happy feeling that loud pump inside her. She knew that her decision to be fearless was the best one because she could never let
It was a hectic hour in the hall. People were rushing around, frowning and screaming at each other. “Are you freaking deaf? I said only white lilies will be put on the stage. What the heck are you doing you freak. Are you colorblind?” the manager shouted at a staff. “Sorry sir, I will do it correctly this time,” the staff said pitifully. “You better…” the man said. “And you fool…” he shouted at another staff. “Are you going to finish that next month? Are you preparing all these for your own wedding or what?” “Sorry sir!” “Hurry up.” The staff nodded. “Mr. Gill?” a man in a blue suit called out the manager. “Yes, yes sir,” the manager responded. “Is everything ready?” “Yes sir the staffs are doing their work. Just an hour at most and we will be ready.” “All the top businessmen in the country will be here this evening, make sure everything is arranged perfectly. From the décor to the meals, I want everything to be PER-FECT.” “Yes sir, I’m at it,” the manager nodded. “Good,”
