It had been a week after the house-warming party and the days were going by good for all of them. Jack had promised never to leave his jokes, Alice was squeezed in between her silent space and Jack's constant invasion, Stefen had started to open up a lot and would usually help Jack to crack jokes, Jazz on the other hand loved her new company; her friends to be precise.
"He would be arriving any moment," Jasmine said as she was waiting for Stefen to come and pick her up.
He arrived right on time. They had started this tradition of going to the office and having their breakfast together. They took turns paying for the breakfast.
They reached the company and Jasmine waited in front of the company building as always, waiting for Stefen to park his car and go in together.
But as they were about to enter, Stefen got a call.
"Jazz just a minute," he said and took his phone out. He frowned looking at the caller name. He cut the phone and started walking. But only after few steps, the phone rang again.
"Take it, it must be important," Jasmine said pointing towards the phone in his hand.
"Yeah, umm excuse me." He walked a bit away from her and picked up the call. "What is it Kevin? Don't you get that I'm busy and I'm not interested in having any kind of conversation with you."
"Aww good boy is angry huh? But you are right, that girl is worth being busy with. What's her name man? She's damn beautiful oh wait she's damn HOT," Kevin said as he emphasized the last word on the other side of the phone.
Stefen clenched his fist hearing that. She meant more to him than just a mere human being who happened to be working with him. But Kevin wasn't someone who could understand that, so arguing with him was meaningless.
"Get to the point Kevin. Why did you call me?" he said maintaining a calm voice not wanting Kevin to know that he was affected by his words. Kevin wasn't a nice guy. He had ways to get what he wanted and if he ever came to know about Stefen's feeling for Jasmine then it wouldn't take him a second thought to use her as a bait.
"I want to talk to you in person. Come to the café across the company building... NOW." He had a demanding voice.
"No way Kevin! What makes you think I'll waste my time coming to talk to a bulls*** like you? Come back to Earth now and know your real worth."
"Are you sure about that? I can call the girl next time and who knows what might happen? You know me cousin."
Stefen heard the teasing laugh from other side of the phone. He was raged. He knew Kevin was somewhere near them so he shouldn't make any move but again, he is Kevin. He looked at Jasmine who was standing a bit far from him waiting for him to end the call. She smiled as their eyes met. He couldn't let anyone take that smile away from her or even come closer to her.
"Okay I'm coming." Stefen hung up the call and he walked towards Jasmine. "I have to go the café across the road. Someone wants to meet me and it is urgent. You can go ahead."
"Someone?" she asked it slowly and softly raising her eyebrows.
"Don't worry that someone isn't a girl." He said and winked at her.
She tried hiding her blush that was threatening to come out in full form. "I didn't mean that. I was just curious about you know... stuffs." She said as she rotated her hands to explain herself.
"Yeah stuffs huh," he said still looking towards her with a smile on his face that was just their whenever he saw her. "You can go ahead; I'll be there in few minutes."
"Few minutes?"
"Yeah."
"Then I'll wait for you. We are early today and Alice is yet to arrive... and I can't handle Jack alone." Jasmine questioned herself whether that was truly the reason.
He laughed hearing that. She hadn't realized it but she'd started to love his laughter; carefree and innocent that held no boundaries.
"Okay, I'll be back soon." He replied as he patted her cheek. Shivers ran through her body. His touch would give her a satisfying electric shock that would always fasten her heartbeat. Jack used to hug her whenever she agreed to his weird ideas but she never felt anything about it but just a touch from Stefen would take her to a different level.
He turned around showing his back to Jasmine and the smile faded away.
What did Kevin want to talk about all of a sudden? I made sure to threaten him well the last time we spoke. And all these days he had been silent. I thought he accepted his defeat... But again who am I kidding he's Kevin. He isn't someone who would raise their hands in surrender. I guess I'll just have to figure things out.
Kevin was not someone whose moves could be predicted. Stefen and Kevin were in good terms when they were young as Kevin was only few years elder than Stefen. He was definitely not the best elder cousin in the world but yes, he was far better than the Kevin he was now.
Stefen was deep in his own thoughts as he was crossing the road thinking of all the possible reasons Kevin invited him for."STEFEN...," but as he was lost in his thoughts, he heard a girl's voice shouting very loudly behind him, calling his name. Before he could turn around and see who it was he was pushed with a very high force. He fell a few meters away from where he was standing as he heard a very loud bang. The sound was as if something big had hit a body.
Although, it wasn't him who had been hit but still he felt pain all over his body as he was pushed to the ground with a heavy force. There were many people gathered around where he was standing before he was pushed and a black car drove off at a very high pace. Bearing all the pain in his body he stood up and made his way through the crowd.
His eyes went wide open in shock and fear as he saw a lying body on the road, covered in blood. It was Jasmine.
She wasn't moving at all. Her eyes were closed. She was unconscious, at least he wished her to be only unconscious and not... Stefen came closer to Jasmine's body and knelt beside her not knowing what just happened. He didn't dare touch her body. He was traumatized."What the hell is happening here?" A voice was heard from the crowd as he was making his way towards the scene."Stefen?" Jack was shocked seeing Stefen there."What's happ... Jasmine?" Jack rushed and knelt beside Stefen. "What happened here Stefen? Are you fine?" He put his hand on Stefen's shoulder and shook it as Stefen wasn't moving at all. He looked partially paralyzed. Jack immediately took his phone out and called for an ambulance.Jasmine was soon taken to the hospital. Stefen held Jasmine's hand from the time the ambulance arrived and didn't leave her until the doctors and Jack forced him to. Holding her hand was giving him hope, hope to see her well and be with her.Stefen stayed back impatiently and Jack made a
"Dad?" Stefen said it in surprise as he saw his dad in the waiting room in the hospital. He went and immediately hugged him. He was craving for a hug from his loved one. "Oh son," Mr. William said it softly and patted his son's back. "Dad, how come you're here?" Stefen was not ready to break the hug as it was somehow comforting him. "I don't know, I just thought my son needed me after seeing the love of his life fight to survive." "What?" Stefen said as he broke the hug. "Oh come on Stef, no more denying it. I know you love her. It was her all along wasn't it?" Stefen did not have any answer to that. "What happened Stef?" Mr. William said as he saw Stefen's hand. "I will explain everything later dad. Now is not the time. Only Jasmine's health matters right now." Stefen said looking towards the closed operation room's door. Mr. William nodded his head agreeing to his son. "But, don't neglect your
He sat on a chair beside her bed as he held her hand and intertwined them. He was feeling guilty for being the cause of her pain. He was scared just with the thought of what ifs... He was totally out of his mind and his soul left his body for a while when he saw the unconscious body of her lying in the middle of the road covered in blood. Without thinking much he kissed her forehead and sat back. Tears unknowingly rolled down his cheeks. Stefen sat beside Jasmine for hours not wanting to leave her side. He was still holding Jasmine's hand afraid of the loneliness he might feel if he lets it go. He rested his head on the intertwined hands of theirs and in no time he feel asleep. The sun set for the day and night took over. "Stefen...?" he heard the voice he was longing to hear. He got up and saw Jasmine who was still adjusting her vision. "Jazz Jazz oh my god Jazz you are finally up." He said, his voice filled with pain, excitement and most importantly LOVE. "Yeah
"So Jazz, do you feel good? That was very brave of you out there. Stefen told me everything." Jack said as he offered a chair to Alice and he himself sat on the chair where Stefen was a while ago. "Yeah I am good. Thank you guys for coming." Jasmine replied. "I was shocked when I heard the news." Alice said trying to act normal. There was a pain in her heart that she could not say it out loud and the pain that had no medicine to cure it. "Yeah, even I am shocked remembering it again. It just happened in the matter of few seconds. I ran, pushed Stefen away and was hit and I felt this massive pain for couple of seconds and the next thing I remember is waking up on a hospital bed." Jasmine was calm. She did not regret saving Stefen even for a single moment. Jack and Alice were listening to Jasmine carefully. They looked like students attending the most important lecture of their life. "What about the work guys? Does Sandra know that you guys are here?" Jasmine w
"Well yeah, the kiss was but what she said after that... I don't know man. It was my first kiss and the way she described it... I just felt bad. It sounded as if it was meaningless for her." "Really Stef, you are worrying about that? Come on, don't act like a child. You know what the situation was back there. You both were speechless seeing me and Alice out of blue. She said that just to avoid the conversation, that is it. Don't overthink without knowing what she felt in her heart." "Yeah but..." "No buts Stefen Wills. Give her some time. She just woke up. Let her be better. Then you both can sit down and talk about it." "Yeah maybe you are right." "I guess I know what you are capable of but still I want to ask this to you." Jack said trying to divert Stefen's mind. "What?" "How did you know Jasmine's blood group? The last time you were together was when you guys were around 12 right? That is if I remember correctly." Stefen chuckled hearing Jack.
"Yes Jazz you. I don't know whether you know this or not but Stefen has changed. I would not say completely but he has. He talks to me. He greets me in the morning and bids me goodbye in the afternoon. We sit in the same table during lunch- break. All of this because I am your friend and he considers you his." Jasmine felt satisfied and happy when she heard that. She never believed that a guy who stayed far from girls is so close towards her. He treats her so well and cares for her. She remembered the kiss they shared and a blush crept out making her cheeks turn red. They talked for some more time until Jasmine fell asleep. *** "You both should go home for today. I will stay with her." Stefen said to Jack and Alice. "Are you sure you will be okay alone Stef? I can stay with you if you want,” Jack said. "Yeah me too." Alice followed him. "No guys. I am good plus you both missed the office also." "Come on Stefen, uncle William will handle it." Jack
"I will call the doctor. Please rest." Saying that he left. The doctor soon arrived with Stefen. He examined her and confirmed that she was healing well and could go back home within a week. "Thank you doctor." Stefen said as the doctor finished examining Jasmine and walked out of the room. After the short examination, a nurse brought Jasmine her breakfast. Since Jasmine was still weak, Stefen offered to help her have her breakfast. He was spoon feeding her when he remembered something. "Jazz?" "Yeah." "Your parents called you yesterday evening. You were asleep so I picked up the call. They were worried about you. I think you should call them back." Jasmine stopped eating and looked at Stefen. "What are you saying? My parents know about the accident?" "Yeah, the office people called them. Why? You look so... distressed. Are they strict?" "No Stef, they are..." "What?" Stefen started worrying more. "They are overprotective of me."
"Yes, we are kind of like... interning in the same company. So..." "Oh, that is so good to hear." Tyler nodded. "So did you just come from your work?""Not exactly. I came from the police station actually." "Police station?" The couple again asked in unison."Yeah, mm... I was there when the accident happen, so I had to give the official statement to the police about the accident. Plus the culprit behind it was a former employee of my dad. He was expelled for fraud. Therefore, I had to go to the police station to talk about both the cases." Stefen clearly explained. "So that means the culprit is behind the bars already. That's good to hear." Tyler said as Celine was hearing both of them acutely. "Yes, by the way, when did you guys arrive?" Stefen asked wanting to calm the mood as they all got seated in a row. "About an hour ago." Tyler replied. "Well, I am not complaining but you guys shouldn't have traveled all the way here. She is fine now." Stefe
Hey Jack, You are reading this letter, meaning I am not around you anymore. It’s funny when you come to think of it, we have been living under the same roof for so long but when it came to leaving, I don’t have the guts to face you and say my final goodbye. So I am writing you a letter, a letter that represents my cowardice. Thank you for giving me your friendship and the care that came along. I never realized that I had grown used to your care until now. You remember that night on the balcony you asked me ‘How you were portrayed in my eyes.’ I would like to answer that again, You Jack, you are the most annoying and stubborn person I have ever seen in my entire life. You seriously tore all our hard works into pieces without thinking deep just because you did not want me to leave. You bunk working hours and somehow always catch Sandra’s attention. You ranked 1st when it came to getting on my nerves in the initial days at the office. But… you were also the one who stood with a handke
“It feels weird to be in this room and not see Alice,” all the memories with Alice flushed back the minute they stepped in the bedroom. “I miss her too,” Stefen said. “Come,” he pulled her in and closed the door behind. Jasmine’s sadness turned into nervousness the moment she heard their bedroom door shut. She was starting to have second thoughts on letting Stefen stay with her for the night. Stefen left the hold of her hand and went to lay on the bed. He stretched his one arm on the other side of the bed, a bit lower from the pillow and titled his head, asking her to come and sleep beside him. She was happy to see him not in rush for anything and the respect he gave her and their relationship. She walked on the other side of the bed and laid on top of his hand as he caressed her hair and then embraced her back. She also hugged him tight as she rested her head near his chest, feeling his heart beat. He kissed her forehead and pulled her closer to him, “good night my princess, swee
“Are you sure about this?” Stefen said as he kept both his hands on both side of his pants pocket… helpless. “Yeah,” Alice said as she was almost done packing. She had reached Jack's apartment before anyone else and she had changed into her comfortable clothes as she started packing all her things up. “When will you be back? You will be right?” Jasmine asked standing beside Stefen, equally helpless. “I don’t know,” Alice gave a false smile. “Can we do anything to make you stay?” Stefen asked. “I HAVE TO GO. The plane ticket is expensive you know…” Alice laughed, completely failing to prove that she was fine with all this. “But I thought you were staying. you said you’d throw away the ticket,” Jasmine asked befuddled. “Well then, it’s good I didn’t, right?” She forced smile again. “Can I ask you for a last favor? Can you drop me to the airport?” Alice asked Stefen. “That's not gonna be a problem but... let’s just wait for some time. Jack must be on his way. Let me call him-” S
Jack looked at Alice hearing her as he narrowed his eyebrows, questioning her what she meant. “You don’t have anything to worry about,” Alice looked back at Jack with tears threating to fall down anytime. “Because we are not together… and we will never be together,” tears rolled down her cheek as she said those words. But she immediately wiped her tears and smiled. She gave one last glance to Jack and she walked away without another word. “Alice?” Jasmine followed her. Jack stood still, processing what Alice said. Just few hours back Alice promised to be by his side despite any hurdles and now she was contradicting her own words. Realizing that he can’t let her go he walked forward to go after her but he was held back by Alison. “Where are you going?” she questioned him. “Don’t tell me you are going after her after hearing all the things I’ve just said,” she was exasperated. Seeing that he was being the extra in the conversation Stefen approached Jack and tapped his back, “I’ll g
Alice reached the top floor and when she went to the roof no one was there. “Ha,” she gave a short sarcastic laugh. “Another prank-” But before she could say anything more, she was pushed from behind and she fell on her knees and hands. The slit dress contributed in bruising her knees. She turned around to see the person and was out of words at the sight. Alison stood tall in front of her with a cunning smile. “Hello there! Are you hurt?” sarcasm was evident in her voice. “What the- it was you all along?” Alice said slowly getting back on her feet, dusting her hands, suppressing the pain her new bruises gave her. She was shocked. “Surprise,” Alison moved her hands from her head to toe presenting herself. “Do you like my surprise?” “There,” Stefen pointed at a TV. “There’s Alice.” “She's on the rooftop," Jasmine exclaimed. "Let's go." "Okay, I will call Jack and tell him to be there," Jasmine picked her phone and dialed his number. They rushed towards the elevator and pressed o
“Okay everyone,” the host stood with a mic and grabbed all the attention with his voice audible from all the speakers from all the directions. “The most awaited time has finally arrived. Grab your partner and be ready, because today the sun will set only after witnessing 'A Beautiful Couple Dance'. So hurry up and ask for the permission to dance… LIGHTS,” the lights in the hall all went off and in the center blue and white lights glowed, making the air more calm and peaceful. Couples started coming forward and dancing along the music, under the blue and white light in a slow and romantic tune. The lights gave a winter vibe and the dance between two hearts warmth the place. “Can I have the honor?” Stefen opened his hand. “It would be mine,” Jasmine placed her hand on top and they walked towards the dancing area. “Will you dance with me?” Jack asked… unsure. “I don’t know, I am a terrible dancer,” she wasn’t lying. “Then that makes the two of us.” Alice chuckled and accepted his h
Stefen looked at the person and chuckled. “Yeah, we are where we should be,” he made her sit down and he himself took a chair beside her. “Hello Mr. Wills!” Jasmine said in a low voice and the man diverted his focus from his PA to Jasmine. “Oh, didn’t see you two arrive,” he smiled. “And please Jazz, call me Uncle, end the formalities,” he raised his eyebrows and nodded wanting Jasmine to approve. Jasmine just smiled and Mr. Wills went back to talking to his PA. Jasmine pulled Stefen by his coat and whispered in his ears. “Why is Mr. Wills talking this sweet and how does he know my nickname?” Stefen laughed hearing her. “Hey, what’s so funny?” “Why don’t you ask these questions directly to him?” “What?” Jasmine’s eyes widened knowing his intention. “No Stefen, no no-” “Dad?” “Hmm?” Mr. Wills looked back at Stefen. “Dad?” Jasmine was addled as she looked at Mr. Wills. “My girlfriend here wanted to know why you asked her to call you Uncle and how do you know her nickname.” “
As they were walking down the stairs the boys were waiting for them with their hands in their pant pockets and legs slightly parted. Jack had worn white shirt whereas Stefen had worn a black shirt. However it did not do a good job when it came to hiding their well-built body. Both had worn black coat on top and black pants. Both the boys and their cool pose flew along the thin air when they saw the girls. Jasmine walked down with a shy smile as she saw Stefen and his intent gaze. She looked down on her steps to avoid his eyes to which Stefen smiled. He was swooned. On the other hand, Jack was frozen. He had seen her after so long though they were living under the same roof and after all the distance he suffered, this view blew him away. Alice was walking beside Jasmine, her eyes only focused on his. She noticed how her heartbeat rose seeing Jack and she was happy feeling that loud pump inside her. She knew that her decision to be fearless was the best one because she could never let
It was a hectic hour in the hall. People were rushing around, frowning and screaming at each other. “Are you freaking deaf? I said only white lilies will be put on the stage. What the heck are you doing you freak. Are you colorblind?” the manager shouted at a staff. “Sorry sir, I will do it correctly this time,” the staff said pitifully. “You better…” the man said. “And you fool…” he shouted at another staff. “Are you going to finish that next month? Are you preparing all these for your own wedding or what?” “Sorry sir!” “Hurry up.” The staff nodded. “Mr. Gill?” a man in a blue suit called out the manager. “Yes, yes sir,” the manager responded. “Is everything ready?” “Yes sir the staffs are doing their work. Just an hour at most and we will be ready.” “All the top businessmen in the country will be here this evening, make sure everything is arranged perfectly. From the décor to the meals, I want everything to be PER-FECT.” “Yes sir, I’m at it,” the manager nodded. “Good,”
