Lesley’s POV

“Where’s Sandra now?” I asked, wondering if I would be getting visitors from ex-mates as well as ex-girlfriends…

“She ran away shortly after,” he answered, sadness and bitterness dripping from every word. “I haven’t seen or heard from her since.”

I glanced up. He didn’t look at me, but I didn’t need to see the rest of his face, to recognize the pain and anger in his expression. He tried to hide it, but sadness and disappointment were feelings not easily hidden away. They were the feelings that sometimes left the deepest scars…

“I’m sorry,” I muttered before I could help myself.

“What?”

“I’m sorry,” I repeated, letting my fingers fumble with the helm of the hoodie. “I can’t imagine what that must feel like; not knowing what happened to your mate.”

“She rejected me,” he snarled, and I’m pretty sure his wolf was in there somewhere. Sore subject. Noted. Not that it surprised me or anything. However,

Cedrick’s POVI was restless!I didn’t know what to do in a house with a girl that was almost half my age. Shit, I felt like such a pig! And my wolf certainly didn’t help, by constantly pushing vivid images into our mind of her strolling around naked. And as much as I didn’t want to admit it, it turned me on. So much so, time and time again, I found myself unable to do my work. Not until I’d either had a cold shower or found my own release.I sighed and for the 11th time that day found myself with a hard-on. Shit! I was exhausted… And god, did I feel OLD! I’d never felt this old before! Whoever said that a wolf in his 30’s was in his prime, did NOT have a mate that was practically a child! Not to mention, that every time she got within 6 feet of me, my wolf became utterly and completely impossible to control, because she smelled like---them! He wanted to mark and mate her without any concerns about the outside w

Cedrick's POVAnd here I was thinking I would be the one drowning my sorrows…I threw the bottles out and turned back to my mate. Damn! She was not a pretty sleeper, I thought, as a smile crept across my lips. Her mouth was slightly open, drooling all over the notes she was trying to write, and her blond hair hanging over her face and shrunken shoulders. She looked exhausted.I took a deep breath. Best to get her to bed.“Lesley?” I gently touched her shoulders…“I’m awake!”I jumped back, hating to admit that her sudden jolt startled me. She sat up straight as if someone had struck her with lightning! But awake she was not!Her eyes were barely thin stripes on her head, and she was already gently rocking from side to side, ready to duck down again. I honestly had to bite down a chuckle, when I noticed the rest of her: the paper had gotten stuck to her cheek and she

  • The Lottery Mate   Chapter 28

Lesley’s POV“Good morning sunshine!” Ryder, the cute Third, greeted me--- and I finally understood how Cedrick felt on Sunday mornings!“Mornin’, Sensai,” I muttered, hauling my ass to the training arena. I had barely got out of bed this morning when my alarm went off. My head was pounding and I felt sick to the core. Even my wolf was whimpering at every movement my body made. I crawled out of bed, into the bathroom, and threw my insides in the toilet.Wait just a second, I gruffly muttered to myself. I know what this is! But why? How? How did I wake up with a hangover? I didn’t drink any alcohol last night. My wolf had no explanations either--- unless we’d been drugged. But there was no one else in the house last night. Except…I frowned as I tried to think, with my clogged-up brain. I vaguely remembered having a weird conversation with Cedrick, but--- And that’s when it hit me!Oh,

  • The Lottery Mate   Chapter 29

Lesley's POVI opened the door, exiting the arena, when his scent hit me like a bullet train.“Hey, Les-girl,” Dean said in his usual, gentle voice. I took a deep breath letting his scent calm me like it always did. But just as it calmed me, it also stirred up a storm I hadn't even realized was lurking under my skin. Sure, I forgave him for what he did to me under my Uncle’s alpha command, but--- Could I forgive him for what he did after? Could I forgive him, for leaving me?“Les-girl,” I echoed, tasting the name on my lips again. I hadn’t heard it for almost 3 years now, but it still managed to string a cord in me. Triggering happy memories as well as the deep cut of the betrayal of being left behind. “Haven’t heard that for a while,” I muttered, plastering a smile on my face. No! I couldn’t forgive him for leaving me. He was my big brother, the one I trusted! He should have taken me away with him. He knew I’d never be strong enough to leave on

Lesley’s POVNew school!Yeah, I don’t think that needs an introduction: I hated it! And it got weird.Fast!“You’re the Luna,” a girl from the pack remarked. “Why are you here?”“To finish high school,” I deadpanned, and with that, the conversation quickly turned into how they would spend their day if they were the Luna. And that had them drooling over Cedrick’s hot body. His cash, his car, his biceps--- And how ‘oh, so sorry they were’ for having to say goodbye to his beautiful, gorgeous, and ‘oh so kind and sweet’ ex-girlfriend. Although she wasn’t officially their Luna, they’d always seen her as one!See where that was going?I quickly excused myself and left. One part of me – the VERY jealous part, curtesy of the mate-bond – wanted to scratch their eyes out! While the other part of me just wanted to throw my hands in the air and let them have him! He was so frustrating it w

  • The Lottery Mate   Chapter 31

Lesley's POVI instantly recognized Beta Mitch’s voice. He sounded pissed. And what’s worse: the scent of my mate was on the other side of that door too.My smile faded, and my heart dropped to the pit of my stomach.Cheating? Wh-what---?“I’m not---” Cedrick growled, but the relief I felt from his denial was short-lived.“Yes, you are! Stop denying it, Cedrick!” Beta Mitch roared and there was a loud bang sound; like he’d just hit the table with his flat hand. “You may not be having sex with the woman, but that’s---!” There was an intense silence. “That’s just as bad! You have a mate now!”“A mate who’s a fucking child,” was my mate’s grumbled reply. My wolf whined and my heart clenched. Great! When it wasn’t the other mate or the girlfriend, it was MY age!Without thinking I took a step back, shaking my head as the tears burned in my eyes. He didn’t want me. He didn’t want me, that’s why he was fin

WARNING: This chapter contains suicidal thoughts and a suicide attempt!!!Lesley’s POVI wanted to stay in that room for the rest of eternity! But like all good things they must come to an end and I knew that sooner or later I had to come out. Carefully I opened the door and I realized that Cedrick’s office door was closed.Carefully, I snuck by, taking a deep sniff. He was still there. His scent was strong--- and utterly and completely intoxicating! It assaulted my senses, making me weak in the knee and sending shivers of pleasure down my spine.Stupid mate-bond!I speed-snuck by the door and back down the stairs. All I wanted to do, was to rush out the door and go home – for however long it was home. But of course, as I entered the last step, Emma waved me over, wanting to hear all the details. I mentally groaned and had to fight the tears that threatened to spill again. Everything inside me was hurting,

WARNING: This chapter contains suicidal thoughts and a suicide attempt!!!Lesley’s POVHe growled the last words, before pushing off the table and heading out. I flinched when the doors slammed shut, like someone had just tased me. For what seemed like an eternity I remained seated, feeling like someone just dropped me in ice water. Why?Why me? I repeated the question to myself over and over again. The darkness of depression folded over my being like a tsunami. Why did my family have to die? Why did they leave me? Why couldn’t my uncle find some other slut to fuck? Why did I get a mate who was in love with someone else? Why?Why?WHY???I gripped my head, pressing my face against the surface of my knees. I didn’t care that my head started to throb, or that I was clenching my jaws so tightly, I was on the verge of breaking my teeth. Why?Why was

  • The Lottery Mate   Chapter 43

Lesley’s POV“Good morning, sunshine,” Ryder greeted me in his usual manner, as I walked up to him in the arena.“Good morning, Ryder,” I answered, unable to stop grinning like a mad person.“Hmm, someone had a good date?” He teased. I didn’t reply, but snickered at him, letting him come to whatever conclusion he wanted. He grinned and shook his head, before putting on a more serious expression. “Ready for today’s lesson?” he asked. “You’re finally going to do some kicking back.”“I was born ready for this,” I replied, psyched as shit--- And moments later I wished I knew when to keep my mouth shut. Kicking and hitting back was hard, painful, and – unfortunately – involved the other part of kicking and hitting back too!And damn him, he was good!He kicked me, landing a pretty mean punch in my stomach. I wobbled back, before losing my balance--- only to land on a couple of strong arms that held me from falling on my

  • The Lottery Mate   Chapter 42

Lesley's POVI gulped and forced my body to be still. I don’t know what happened, but I knew I didn’t want to push my luck right now. And if I was being honest, I understood his actions a bit better. Sure, there were other ways he could have gone about it – and probably ALL of them better than what he chose! – but in the end, he didn’t want to hurt me.He--- he cared about my feelings...“Please get back in the car, so I can get home and have a VERY cold shower, so I don’t rip those clothes off your body?” he sighed, his blue eyes finding mine. “Please?” he repeated, those black orbs begging me to do what he said. “I’ll slow down, I swear,” he promised. “I don’t want to damage us more than I already have.”“OK,” I nodded--- and although I’d probably agree to go to the moon if he told me to right now, I felt the tensio

Lesley’s POVSo--- Here’s what happened after that unexpected kiss.He took me home saying it was late!Yeah, I know!Smooth move there, Romeo!I was pissed, to say the least…I had felt his hands sneak around my waist, pulling me closer to him. His tongue graced mine, asking for entrance. Without thinking, I gave him access and he instantly deepened the kiss. Tasting me, like it was the sweetest ambrosia.I moaned, as the sparks erupted from the tip of my lips and spread through my entire body. Warming me from the inside out and making my knees weak in want. I wrapped my arms around his neck to keep me from falling. But it only resulted in pushing us even closer together, making me feel his erected excitement press against my abdom

Lesley's POVCedrick didn’t protest but fell in step with me. We ordered a large chip each and once we got our order, we continued to walk down the pier.“So,” Cedrick started out, a bit insecure. “Is this what qualifies as fun for you?”“This was the only fun I could have,” I confessed and mentally rolled my eyes when I met his surprised expression. “I was an Omega, remember?” I had to remind him. “I didn’t get paid, but by making the right kind of friends, I could get into clubs and stuff without paying.”“How do you make friends like that?”“I offered them my services,” I smirked--- without thinking how that sounded…“What?!” Cedrick exclaimed shocked and his wide eyes found mine. At first, I didn’t really get it--- until my wolf practically barked some sense back into me.“Oh, fuc

  • The Lottery Mate   Chapter 39

Lesley's POVHe nodded and I could feel the presence of his wolf decrease until I almost couldn’t feel him anymore. For a second, I was worried about what my wolf was going to say about it. But to my surprise, she didn’t mind us humans having some alone time.I beamed a smile at him, leading him to the DJ booth.“Big D,” the tall, dark man exclaimed, once he was us and engulfed me in a ‘bro-hug’. “‘S’up?”DJ was one of the humans back home that I and Amanda had been good friends with. He was considerably older than us, but he was cool to hang with because he could get us access to all the clubs and bars he had a gig at. He moved away with his boyfriend when he got a job offer out of town, but he’d told me to look him up if I ever was in town.Because--- conveniences, bitches!“Hey, DJ,” I grinned back, not noticing the rage that flashed in

  • The Lottery Mate   Chapter 38

Lesley's POVI mentally rolled my eyes at him.And here I was thinking he was constipated! My wolf grinned--- and I just loved her even more.“If it’s any consolation, you look younger,” I answered, gesturing to the missing beard. And I hoped he got the hint to let it grow back. He looked better with it!“I know,” he just answered pointedly, picking up the fork and knife. “Still doesn’t change the numbers though.”“Relax! What’s the worst that could happen?” I replied and rolled my eyes. Grabbing my burger with both hands and gobbled down another mouthful. From the corner of my eye, I caught Cedrick’s astonished face while I chewed. “I’m part wolf,” I shrugged, unapologetically, swallowing, and hurried to take another bite. “Sorry if I eat like one.”He laughed, but quickly and nervously looked around as if he&rsquo

  • The Lottery Mate   Chapter 37

Lesley’s POVI was not allowing myself to get excited about this!I was going on a date with my mate, sure! But if he made a last-minute cancelation, I wouldn’t show him that it hurt me. I was preparing to get disappointed, even preparing for the fact that this might even be his punishment for me. Get me worked up to rub it in my face later.I was NOT going to get worked up about this. I was his mate. Not someone he loved, right? I was just an inconvenience that he got stuck with...I took a deep breath.Yeah, that’s it. Like ‘Anja’ said: he loved her less than a week ago. There was no way he loved me. Or even cared for me.I took one last look in the mirror. Luckily, all my bruises were gone, so I could show a little skin for once without endangering my old pack. Tight black leggings under a pair of once-upon-a-ripped jeans, that I’d turned into shorts. A pair of yellow sneakers and a white tank top let so

  • The Lottery Mate   Chapter 36

Lesley's POV“Why?” Cedrick gritted between his teeth, folding his huge arms over his broad chest. His eyes avoided mine and were burning holes in the carpet on the floor.“I-I want to see if there are any audiobooks lying around,” I replied, cursing my nervous stutter. Why was I so freaking nervous?! Oh, yeah! The last time we spoke, he almost strangled me!--- And yet, I was over the moon seeing him here. He didn’t smell like another woman! In fact, he smelled like an old couch and breath mints. You know? The ones you keep in your desk for emergencies. He spent the night at the office! And for some stupid unexplainable reason, that made me happy!“Why?” he asked surprised, quickly ripping the rug out from under my happy moment and bringing me back down to reality…“So I can get my homework done,” I muttered, stealing a glance at his annoyingly perfect face from time to time.

  • The Lottery Mate   Chapter 35

Lesley's POVA low growl erupted from his chest. He leaned his body against mine. His lips trailed the naked skin of my exposed neck. The motion sent currents of soft electricity through my body, making me shiver. Yet not in a sexy way...“Good!”Suddenly, he dropped me. His hard frame left mine and he was gone. My legs barely caught the sudden weight of my body. Before I managed to pull myself together, I heard the door slam shut with such force that it shook the walls.I released a breath I didn’t know I’d been holding. My heart was slamming against my chest and was currently the only proof of life I had. My body was shaking, and more tears threatened to spill. Without thinking, my fingers found the angry mark left behind from his hand.Jeez! Why don’t werewolves have domestic violence laws? I sarcastically asked myself, although I already knew the answer: the evide
