CHAPTER 1: Blue Eye

Shayana's POV

"MOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!" I immediately run out of my bathroom and look for my mom.

I just woke up and I'm supposed to wash my face when I see something in the mirror.

"Shayana. What's wrong? What's with the panic?" Mom is on the dining preparing for our breakfast.

I run over her.

" Mom look, my eyes turned blue. I swear I didn't do anything. And I'm not even wearing contact lenses. "

Dad even approach me and held my face. He's looking firmly to my eyes. My mom and dad look each other.

I can see the worried face with my mom.

" Mom? What's wrong? "

" Don't worry honey, we'll figure it out. But first lets have breakfast so you won't be late in school. "

Although I'm confuse, I just follow my mom. I ate my breakfast and take a bath.

" Just remember Shayana. If ever someone ask what's happened to your eyes, just tell them you wear contact lense, okay? "

I just nodded. I kissed my mom and went to school.

I'm on the school now and I'm trying not to make any eye contact with anybody.

" Shayanaaaa! " I turned around and there I saw him.

" Calix. " The moment he was in front of me, he looked at my eyes.

" Woah! Nice eyes color. "

" Stop it Calix. I'm just wearing contact lense."

" Why color blue? Hahaha. "

" Well, uhm, I'm just trying if it suits me. But looking at you seems it's not. "

" Hahahaha. Everything fits to you Shayana. I have black contact lense here. You want? "

" Really? Can I have? "

Calix gave me his black contact lense. Before entering classroom, I went to the toilet first to put a lense.

Calix is my best friend. We're friends since we're 10 years old.

When I walk out of toilet, I saw Calix waiting for me.

"Why did you wait me? You should go first."

"I just feel like waiting you."

" Calix. Why do you have contact lense with you?"

" Well, recently I visited an optical clinic. My eyes seems to be dried and irritated. So the doctor advise me to wear one."

" You're eyes may be sensitive with dirt."

" Well yeah,as the doctor say the same."

No man in school ever try to court me. Those man who tried were blocked by Calix, saying we're together.

He's been so over protective to me.

And I didn't even stop him with that. I don't have time for that kind of thing either.

Shayana's POV

"Mom! I'm home!"

I'm on my way upstairs when mom called me from behind.

"Shayana, let's have a talk."

We are at the living room. I'm with mom and dad.

"What is it mom? Is it about my eyes?"

"Honey, there's something you need to know." Dad hold my hand, squeezing it gently. I don't know why but my heart keep on pounding.

"Dad, mom, you're making me nervous."

Mommy already cried. Daddy just bowed while holding my hand.

I don't know what's going on, but I know I wouldn't like it.

"Shayana, baby, we..we..we're not your real parents." As soon as mom said those words, she continued to cry. I just stare at her. Trying to understand the word she said. I couldn't utter a word.

I want to talk. I want to ask them. But those words keep on playing in my head all over and over again.

" Baby. Shayana, listen to me. We still love yo--"

" Then who's m..my real parents? Whe..where are they? " After saying those words, my tears started to fall non-stop.

" Shayana. There's more you need to know about yourself. So let mom say it all once okay? " Dad stop me from asking.

" Mom what do you mean there's more? It's already hard for me this one, what's this more?"

I keep on crying and I can't stop myself. The more I saw mom crying, even dad, the more my tears can't stop from falling down.

" Honey, just let your mom tell everything to you okay? "

I look at dad. "Dad. I'm scared. My heart can't bear it anymore. "

Daddy hold my face and wipe my tears.

" Honey. Nothing changes okay? We still love you. You're still our baby. You just need to know who you really are. Trust us okay? "

" Shayana. Look at mom. Look at me baby. "

I look at mom. I can see on her face that it is also hard for her what she's doing.

"Mom."

"Shayana. Yo..you're not one of us. You are different from us. You're a Gamma."

"Ga...ga..gamma? W.. what's that?" Even though it was hard because of too much emotion I was able to speak.

"You're a werewolf. Gamma is some kind of werewolf and that's who you are. You already reached the right age where your attributes will be out and visible."

"The changes of your eye color is your first attribute." Dad continued.

Changes of eye color? My attributes? I'm what? A werewolf?

"MOM! Stop this nonsense! Crap the shit! What do you mean werewolf? There's no such thing as werewolf!"

I stand up. I'm getting frustrated on what they're saying. Werewolves were just an urban legend long time ago.

How can I be a werewolf?

"Shayana. They exist. And you're one of them."

I can't believe it. I don't want to believe it.

"Do you mean I'm a monster?"

Dad stood up and held me.

"No honey. You're not. Don't ever think that way. Monster is only for those who are evil. You're not like that.

"I don't believe you dad. If you are just pranking me you better stop now. It's not funny. YOU'RE MAKING ME SCARED." I scream out of frustration.

"HONEY. LISTEN."

Mom is just crying at a couch. I can't bear seeing mom that way. But my mind is also confused. I'm really are.

"Shayana. Have you never notice that we never brought you to hospital? We never gave you medicine. We never visit you with a doctor. There's this some certain medicine that it is meant for you only. This is what we used to you if ever you get sick."

By that, I realized I never went to hospital. They never bring me there. Everytime I got sick, there's only one capsule they gave me.

"You can't be treat by a human doctor. Your blood is different from ours. They will just gonna kill you."

There's one time I'm engaged in an accident. They didn't bring me at the hospital although my blood is all over me.

They treat me at our home by themselves.

When realization hit me. My whole world crumpled. I lost my balance and fell on the floor.

I'm lost with words and I couldn't even cry anymore. My mind is so occupied but I don't know what is running in my head.

"Shayana, we still love you baby. Nothing change." Mom hugged me.

"Mom. I don't want to be a monster."

"No baby. You're not a monster. And you'll never be a monster. You came from a great family."

Family.

"If I'm with them, why I am with you?"

Mom and Dad look at each other.

"There's many more you need to know."

Shayana's POV

"Dad. Can you give this letter to Calix. I couldn't say goodbye to him because he's not home."

"Sure honey. Give it to your mom."

"You don't have to say goodbye to him. You'll gonna see each other again after this."

"Atleast I will be able to see him before I leave."

Almost everyday I'm used to see and be with Calix all the time. Right now, imagining transferring to the new school without him. Without the person you used to be with. It is so hard. I'm not yet there, but I already feel alone.

Yes. I'll be transferring school. Not an ordinary school. A school for us. Made for US.

It is far from human world. We're on the middle of woods now. We're on our way there. Mom said I'll be living there until all our attributes come out. Especially when we can able to shift from wolves already.

I don't want to do it. But mom and dad said it is best for me. They say after this, I could always return to them.

All my life, I'm dependent on mom and dad, and to Calix. But now, I need to live by my own. Far from them. I want to cry, but I don't want to make it harder for mom. I know she's hurt too.

I never felt in my life that I'm not their own. They never have kids beside me. They really settle with me.

Dad stop the car. I think we're already here.

We step out of the car.

"Baby. We can't go inside anymore. Take care okay? Never starve yourself."

Seeing mom suppresses her tears makes me want to cry and go home.

"Don't worry mom. I'll be good."

"Honey, keep in your head all our reminders okay? We will wait for you."

I hug them both. Trying not to cry. I knew that if I'll cry, it will be harder for all of us.

I waved at them and walk through the gate.

There's a guard who are scanning our eyes.

"You're good. Welcome to Troika Academy."
