Chapter3

"Her dad was a hunter? Wolfhunter!?" She was shocked to see the picture. 

Her dad and her Uncle Sam holding a dead wolf. The picture might look like just a simple picture to other people, but for her, it's not. She was told that her father was killed by werewolves. But I guess it's the other way around. But the wolf in the picture was just a simple wolf. Not a werewolf. She doesn't even believe in those but this picture shows something that she has a bad feeling about. She takes a look at the other photos, it was taken from this place. This place served as their training ground and the pictures were their daily activity here. She took it and went out to ask Jacob. She looked around but he was nowhere to be found. She went back inside and saw another picture left inside the box. It was a group picture and the people who are in the picture are the ones who died except Jacob. 

"Alpha"

She saw that writing behind the dead wolf's photo. She felt something heavy inside her heart and goosebumps all over her body. She took the box and put it back in its place. A lot of questions are running in her mind right now and she will discover everything herself. Most definitely, Jacob will not tell her anything. She grabbed her dirty clothes and went to the side of the waterfall to wash them. She shivered when she touches the water.

Oh goodness, it's cold.

She stood up and made some stretching to waken up her blood. She was bending sideward when she saw Jacob about to splash water on her. She gasps when the water hits her face.

"Jacob!" She shouted angrily.

"Don't you dare do that again... I will kill you!" She ran further from the side.

He was laughing hard. 

"Alice c'mmon join me... The water is great you see," he started splashing some water in her direction.

"No, Jake stop it! You're old enough to do some nasty things, stop!" Trying to escape from the splash.

Jacob did not stop doing it until she was all wet. 

"Geez! You are such an asshole!" she hissed while she took off her wet clothes. 

Now she's on two-piece and Jacob can't help but stare at her smoking hot body. Her curves are too captivating that he can't take her eyes off her. Alice hugged her body and blushed.

"Don't you know that it's rude to stare?" she splashes water into his face. 

"Who said I'm staring? You're not even sexy," he mocked at her. 

" I saw you, you almost drop your eyeballs jerk!" she scoffed.

He laughed hard again.

He grabbed her hand and took her under the waterfall. 

"This will help you soothe your sore muscles," he shouted at her. The water was just so loud that they can't hear each other with a normal voice.

She stayed under it. The water was warm from the top and feels like massaging her back. She looks at Jacob. He was just that annoying but he is the best person she know. He always got her back so she has nothing to be scared of in her life. He was just so sexy today, the way he flip those wet hair on his face and when his muscles skip in his every move. She may be his best friend but she can see those things in him as if she has the biggest crush for him. Other girls may look at his hard muscles, his biceps those abs. But for her, he's sexy even the slightest thing he does. 

It was just a perfect moment under the light of that waxing gibbous moon about to set. It was early three o'clock in the morning and they are too lucky they still get to see its light. She was looking at the surroundings when something catches her attention. There was someone in the woods looking at them. 

"Jake, Jake!" she swam hurriedly to the side. 

"What is it?" he asked worriedly.

"Let's go, hurry up!" she shouted while picking up her clothes. 

They run fast inside the cabin. She went directly to her room and changes clothes. Went to the kitchen where Jacob is. He was already changed and walking back and forth with that worried look on his face.

"Jake, do you think we really are safe in here?" 

"What was it Alice, have you seen something?" 

"Yes, someone was staring at us in the woods, for goodness sake!" she said in a broken tone.

"How certain are you? It was dark in the woods Alice, how did you get to see someone staring?" 

"I don't know! I saw him, I swear!" she answered him with wide eyes.

"Ok, ok, we need to have a weapon next to us starting today." 

He grabbed her hand and lead her to a room downstairs. A secret room under his bed. It was an armory. Different guns and weapons are properly arranged from its wall. 

Wow, seriously? This is really a hunters training camp after all.

"You pick your weapon," he said while he grabbed a forty-five caliber pistol.

"I- I can't," she said nervously while she felt her body shiver.

He walked towards her and held her hand. 

She hugged her tight.

"I will protect you, don't be scared," sounds like comfort than assurance to her.

He then grabbed the same thing as his and get some magazines with bullets inside the drawer. 

"Today's training, marksmanship... let's go upstairs, let me cook some breakfast for you before we start." 

It was exactly seven o'clock after breakfast. Jacob installed some targets twenty-five meters away. There was a table in front of her with a pistol and a rifle unloaded. She wasn't allowed to touch it without proper training and knowledge about how to handle a gun and learn the proper gun discipline. 

How come he knows almost everything?

She let out a deep sigh and pressed her lips. 

You can do this Alice girl! 

By the time he's done. He stood in front of her and started the lecture. He showed two different guns in front of her.

"This is a forty-five caliber pistol, the other one is a sniper rifle, tango fifty-one. Firstly, you need to familiarize your gun, secondly, basic operation, and third, gun safety. Do not point your weapon at anything you do not intend to kill." he started. 

He looks like a big boss commander this time. She was fascinated by just the looks of him talking. He showed her every gun part, how to load, unload, and how to draw the gun. When the information training was over, she started the marksmanship. Her knees were shaking while pulling the trigger. The training lasted for like three days until she learned how to use the biggest sniper rifle.

Everything was going smoothly. The training will be over in a week. She was still curious how she get to have that superhuman strength, agility, and the ability to hear and see someone far from her. Sometimes she questions herself if she is a human or a vampire.

She looked at the ceiling and fall into deep thought. A week from today and it's gonna be her eighteenth birthday. She doesn't know if her mom will gonna throw her a party or she will just stay with Jake. She wasn't sure about anything. Her life was just being dictated by her parents. Though, she was happy by following them only that she also wants to feel being independent. She roll over and hugged her pillow. She misses her dad so much. She dozed herself to sleep with tears in her eyes. 

A week had passed quickly. It was finally her birthday. She was rolling in her bed back and forth. She can't help but think of a way just to make her day special with Jacob.

"Ugh!" she pulled her hair while she bury her face into her pillow.

This is too much really! Can't believe I am in this secluded place on my eighteenth birthday with nothing!

She stood up and change her pj's into a tracksuit.

"Let me just take a walk around then, I don't want to waste this day."

She keep on turning the doorknob but it was locked.

What the hell? Am I being locked up in her? 

"Jacob!!!" she screamed while she banged the door.

She heard some crashing from the outside.

"Jacob, what's going on there?" she keeps on turning the knob and banging that door but still no luck.

She took a deep breath and kick the door with all her strength! It breaks into pieces and the debris is scattered outside. She did not waste a minute and run to where Jacob is. She remembered the man lurking in the dark the last time. She was so scared something bad might happen to Jacob. 

"Happy birthday Alice!" 

She was stunned to see her mom and her sisters in the kitchen. She covered her mouth in surprise to see them holding a banner with her pictures in it saying "happy birthday our beautiful Alice".

"Happiest birthday mademoiselle!" said a voice from behind.

She turned around and saw Jacob holding a beautiful cake with little candles around it. 

Shit, I just broke my room's door, what will I do now?

She was still speechless while looking at them. She was overwhelmed by this surprise. Jake came to her and pinched her cheek. 

"Don't mind the broken door," he whispered.

She slightly punches his chest.

"You're such a mind reader!" 

"Mind, if you make a wish and blow this?" he handed her the cake.

She looked at her family first and saw them smiling widely. She closed her eyes and made a wish before she blows it. She heard them clapping for her. Her mom held her hand and looked into her eyes full of love. 

"Happiest birthday my dear. I hope you get to find your true self and find your happiness. Just always remember, mom is always here to guide and protect you," she hugged her daughter and kissed her both cheeks!

She was about to ask what she mean by that when her sisters came here and handed their gifts. 

"Happy birthday Alice, just be happy!" She took it and turn to the table. 

She rolled her eyes. 

Those two never had even a day for an exemption for their coldness!"

Jake held her hand and lead her to the table. 

"You can ear meat today Alice," he said almost a whisper that made her eyes widen.

"You're kidding right?" he just smiled and pulled out a chair for her. 

The table was arranged beautifully there are flowers and candles in the center and different dishes. Few veggies and a lot of...

"Meat?" she silently uttered.

"Yes, Alice. Today you can eat meat," her mom smiled at her while putting a steak on her plate. 

Her eyes sparkle for the good news while she rubs both palms in excitement.

"Thanks so much, mom." 

She looked at Jacob and he just winked at her. 

During the evening, Jacob put some colored bulbs outside near the waterfalls so they can swim with bright lights. Though the moon was shining so bright on its full self. 

I didn't think this day would be this great. Thanks so much, lord for making me happy today.

She was busy picking what to wear from the swimsuit her mom brought her. When she heard a loud crash and a growl from outside. Her sisters keep on screaming. She ran towards them and she was shocked to see Jacob on the ground with huge scratches on his body full of blood.

"Jake?" she runs towards him to hold him when someone drags her from behind growling.

"No! Alice!" her mom screamed. 

She turned around to look at it and she almost lost her mind...

"Werewolf?"
