Four- Finding Kiara

Nathan could never believe this was coming from his mother but she was standing in front of him.  Her expression was stoic, showing no regrets whatsoever after saying Jessica would replace Kiara as his Luna.

Anger surged within him as he raised his voice looking at her pointedly. " Kiara is the future Luna of this pack if I ever become an Alpha."

She snapped, her head turning faster than light to look at him. Disbelief on her face.

"You can't have a stunted hybrid as the Luminous stone pack, Luna. It's a shame people are already talking, Nathan."

"Let them talk, I couldn't care less, mother but you won't decide who gets to rule by my side."

"You don't love her as deeply as you think, and she is not your mate. Jessica told me what happened between you two, that's enough sign for you to know you belong to Jessica, not her."

"And Jessica, she is everything a Luna represents. She would allow your wolf to mate with its mate, she can shift whenever she wants to."

"Not that stunted girl, who hasn't given you any pup since your marriage with her."

Nathan knew his mother never approved of his relationship with Kiara, there was this slight dislike she always had for her but not to this extent she was displaying.

He loves Kiara he truly does and feels guilty for whatever happened between him and Jessica but he would never replace the woman who healed him, who made him feel loved after Jessica's left with Jessica who rejected him.

Kiara has earned every right to stay by his side and Jessica just wants something she abandoned.

He looked straight into his mother's eyes and tightened his expression.

"Jessica would leave the pack tomorrow and I would have a word with the Alpha considering what you just did."

"I am sure your father wouldn't mind." A smirk appeared on her lips, showing she was least bothered by his threats.

Not waiting one more minute with her, he trudged to the door and slammed it hard behind him.

Angered by how confusing his life has become and the fact Jessica's coming back into his life and bringing back those ill memories of their past together, was orchestrated by his mother.

Because she thinks Kiara is unfit to be by his side or be the pack's Luna. Kiara wasn't the woman the moon goddess chose for him to spend his whole life with but she was there when his fated mate broke him.

Hurried and angered he didn't focus much on where he was headed he just felt a pertinent need to vent out, just then he bumped right into something the object getting the impact of the hit more than him.

A frightened gasp reached his ears, then he realized that the object was an actual person, his hands reaching out for her before she fell to the floor, meeting face-to-face with him. His expression changed quickly.

"Jess," he muttered, letting go of his supportive hold on her waist. He averted his face from his view and resumed his walk, about to leave when her slender fingers wrapped around his wrist stopping him.

He ignored the sparks their touch created and watched as she walked to his front, her big green irises peering into his eyes.

"Nathan–" She started but he cut her off.

"I can't believe you could be this desperate or you would ever be this desperate to reclaim what you lost." Hurt grew in her eyes over his statement.

"You told my mother we kissed to prove what?" He gripped her arm tightly drawing her close to him, his eyes burning her through.

He could see through her pretence.

"Nathan, you are hurting me?" She managed.

"Hurt? You hurt me more than this." He bored his eyes into hers, recalling how many times he stared into her green orbs and got lost in them.

"Do everyone good and leave here, Jessica. I want you gone. I don't want you in my coronation ceremony."

Jessica gulped at how dead serious he was. He let go of her sore arm and walked away without a last glance.

He wants her gone?

Despite the clear love he still has for her.

She thought that would be enough but no, he has so much respect for Kiara.

He is doing all this for her, so she won't be hurt but she won't tolerate any further distance from Nate again.

She can't lose him again.

Kiara glanced at the files in front of her trying to compare when the door to the little office she was assigned to jolted open, she was startled but became relieved when she saw Linda, her colleague at the infirmary.

Linda smiled at her, her familiar dimple digging deep into her cheeks.

"It's just me, Kiara," she said, an apologetic look on her face for startling her.

Linda was one of her close friends, well her only friend and colleague. They were both nurses for infants with birth complications. Runts that needed extra care and medical examination.

Werewolves' births are not overly different from humans but complications due occur during pregnancy or childbirth risking both the mother and child's life, being a shifter makes it slightly difficult.

Linda's brown dark eyes ran over the files in her hands and stretched out the one she held to Kiara.

"Those are the wrong ones, here they are."

"Oh, thank you," Kiara muttered, collecting the files and observing them, her peripheral vision caught Linda relaxing on the edge of the desk making herself feel comfortable.

Kiara could sense a discussion coming up, Linda clearing up her throat proved her right.

"How's the incoming Alpha?" She asked of Nate.

Recollections of how strained their relationship has become bothered her, Nathan hardly spoke to her yesterday as well and every effort to go through him was futile.

She was starting to feel frustrated, but it might be the stress of being the new Alpha that was taking a similar toll on him.

"Kiara, down to earth." Linda snaps her fingers at her.

"You were lost there?" Linda said observing her, concern furrowed on her forehead.

"Is everything okay?"

"Sure, all is fine but the stress of the coronation and all has got to us lately," Kiara assured, trying to sound believable.

A dimpled smile appeared on Linda's face, "Can't believe you would become the Luna, how should I address you, Luna, queen of the Alpha king?"

Kiara felt her cheeks heating up in embarrassment, to be referred to as a Luna felt a bit too much.

"It feels overwhelming don't you think?" Kiara put out, it was visible how nervous she was at the idea of becoming Luna.

"Ah, no worries you would adjust with time. How are your lessons with Luna Avery  going?"Linda asked, standing upright to look at Kiara.

Lessons? Kiara thought, confused. Was she supposed to start on one?

How would Linda react to the fact she hasn't been called for any lessons by Nathan's mother? It would cast a bad image on their relationship.

Finding it hard to lie about the truth, especially to a close friend like Linda, she decided to go with the truth.

"The Luna –" The loud sound of her door creaking caught both their attention. They both craned their heads in the direction of the sound and were met with the view of a messenger.

With how she was dressed, Luna Avery's messenger.

She greeted Kiara, acknowledging her before she spoke out her reasons for coming.

"The Luna would like to see you."

"Mother?" Kiara asked, unsure she heard right. "Yes. She wants to see you." Yesterday, she spoke to Nate, the content of their discussion still unknown to Kiara as Nathan refused to say, a similar worried expression as the day before worn on his face. "Okay, you can go." Kiara dismissed and watched as she turned on her heel leaving through the door. She gazed at Linda, who had a puzzled look on her face, "You don't look too happy Luna Avery is requesting for you." "Who knows why she wants me? Probably to chide me for doing something wrong." "Don't worry, you can go. I would finish your work for you, and start on some," Linda promised, her voice assuring. Kiara reached out for her bag, "Thank you, Linda." She hugged her briefly before leaving through the door. Kiara could not calm the plaguing thoughts of worry in her head. Nathan leaned forward one more time to capture Jessica's lips and feel their softness in his when he suddenly stopped mid-way feeling different. His wolf, restless. A curious frown appeared on Jessica's forehead at his odd behaviour, "What's wrong Nathan?" She asked, reaching out to caress his jaw. Something felt odd, he could sense Kiara's presence which wasn't possible because it was only he and Jessica in the room. Or was it? The room was dim so it was a bit odd to see a shadow reflecting through the door and a brighter source of light reflected into his office from the opened door the shadow of a figure reflecting through it. The door was opened? He turned sharply, walking away from Jessica who was seated indecently on his desk to his door and was met with the last person that should see him in this position. Kiara. She looked lost and was frozen to her feet, her eyes lacking the vibrance they always carried. He could see brimming tears underneath her lids threatenin

He called her consecutively but she didn't stop for his calls, she ran like her life depends on it, her hair bouncing in the air just like the time they ran in the forest."Please listen to me, Kiara, I am sorry." Her hands swapped at her face, perhaps erasing the tears falling on her face."I am truly sorry, please don't go ahead with it." She suddenly stopped on her feet and turned to face him, keeping her distance. Her face was overflown with tears, strands of hair smeared to her wet face. Jessica drew the door of the backseat open, Kiara's lifeless body falling out almost immediately as she was rested against the door to keep her steady during the bumpy ride. Taking a brief look at the bloodied mess her car was in, she patted herself one more time for using a polythene wrap to cover her seats and the surfaces of her car to prevent a mess such as this and suspicions that might grow from it. Dragging Nate's dead mate out of the car, she was slightly overwhelmed by how heavy Kiara weighed for such a petite woman. She held her tight in her arms while the rest of her body was drawn across the wet soil. Jessica stopped momentarily to rest, her arms aching before carrying on once more, she dragged Kiara by the shoulder till they reached the edge of their destination. A downhill, overgrown with bushes, perfect for hiding her body till she is found dead or maybe not. The fact remains no one comes here, it's beyond the pack border and close to a highway sidelined with tall t

Xander felt his knee crouch to the ground, the moon bright enough to illuminate to some extent the woman in front of him. He could hardly see what she looked like but her body was covered in blood and wet mud. Her long dark hair was wet with mud which smeared all over her face. His heart raced at the thought she was dead but who did this to her? Who went through the effort of seeing her die so painfully? What if she had a little life in her? He leaned closer to her unsure he should still be in the forest after seeing the bloodied body of a presumed dead woman. What if her death is linked to him? He can't have the police and Estoc men after him. That would be too much for him to handle alone and further investigation might reveal things about himself he would rather keep hidden. He stood to his feet and walked slightly away from the body. 'I should get going,' he thought to himself, walking towards his car. Estoc men can't find him now, he needs to leave. His hand reac

It was worrisome because it has been a day since he took her away from the hospital, he hoped cutting her from her medications doesn't have any serious effect on her. He felt perplexed about her situation and could only hope she gets awake. His eyes scanned the dusty condition of his cabin home. It's been so long since he came here, memories flooded his head as a wave of nostalgia rushed through him. He missed Blake, his Aunt and Raven but he knew they are faring better and safe without him. If they were here with him, as usual, he would put them in danger. He walked gently to a dusty platform hooked to the wall, his index finger swapping at it, collecting a dusty film on his finger. She closed her eyes tight when she noticed she was in the air instead of falling. Her chest still rose and fell as her nostril greedily dragged in the air. Why wasn't she falling anymore? She felt the soft breathing of a familiar man“Xander,” she mutters, her eyelids fluttering open. “Selena.“ He smiled as their forehead touched, his free arm holding her tightly against him. The strain and muscle pull his right arm suffered was nothing compared to the joy of holding her alive in his arms.A tear slipped out of her eye. “My trust belongs to you, Xander. Only you. I don't care how many wrongs you might have done against my people in the past, one thing is certain you've redeemed yourself.“ Xander pressed a desperate kiss on her forehead, her hair strands smeared on his face. “I won't fail you. I promise.“ A loud voice echoed from above the cliff, “Kiara!“ Nathaniel. Selena felt her chest tighten in guilt. Why was she hiding the truth from Xander, she was so scared for their love,

His mind alarmed and alert, he brought out his Glock and walked towards different sections of the house, about to go to the back when…Jack's voice echoed through the house. Xander found himself pausing his steps up the stairs, gently he turned his neck to see him, and his world stopped.“Selena.“ A whisper left his lips.“You forgot too soon Alexander, that I hate you more than Estoc does and I yearn for your pain more than he wants your blood.“ A wide smile was strewn on his face. “Kiara!” Nathaniel rushed forward, desperate to get to Estoc. “Careful, wolfman you come any closer I blow her head off.“ He revealed the gun behind her head. Xander stared at the dark wolf watching Selena intently, he found it unbelievable to fathom a beast just saved her from Jack's to kill her. It seemed too aware of its surroundings. Eyes flickering at every one occasion before returning it to Lena who was packed with shock. He drew her closer to his chest, aware of how traumatic the situations his past introduced her to were. But for the first time she wasn't drowning in his touches, she was rather stoic, her gaze following the dark beast around. The dark wolf turned around, dragging a dead guard towards a pillar, it then stood behind it and slowly became invisible. After some minutes had passed a man emerged from it, wearing the guard's trousers that wrapped tightly around his thighs and groin. He was muscular, his muscles ripped and taut, his biceps flexing as he walked forward. His face was the only part of his body that hadn't properly shifted. Xander drew his cap low to cover his face as he strolled around Estoc's home premises making sure not to pass out as suspicious. His disguise to look as big as the former guard was Ehhh…? Okay. He made do with the little resources his hands reached. The small round belly he gave himself fell each time off his toned abs, and his slender muscled form didn't quite resemble the bulky form of the former guard but he didn't plan on disguising himself for long. He just needed one night to confirm Selena was here and safe. He feared for her more than her, and this wasn't a risk if he had done much worse. His one prayer now was that Estoc or Jack didn't pay the guards too much attention to notice any oddity in their looks. The sound of man's shoes scratched against the gravel of the ground. Making Xander pause on his feet and listen. The legs moved further one more time, and this time oddly closer to where he stood. A voice spoke out and he instantly recognized the owner of that voice.

Xander couldn't stop the voice ringing in his head, "You need to protect her." He reached the ward door and pushed it open slowly. For the first time, his eyes landed on the woman he rescued the night before, she was different from the bloodied dying woman covered in mud. His legs trudged closer to observe her closer, something felt different in the air. And she was the cause. She was like an angel and a peaceful one in her unconscious state. Her pale golden skin reflected against the rays of the sun softened by the curtains while silky long dark hair rested past her shoulders, some falling in little strips of hair on her oval-shaped angelic face. Her skin looks smooth and flawless except for a noticeable depression on her right nostril, which made her nose look more pinched and aquiline. His eyes roamed over her face, her little plump lips parted slightly in sleep. Above her brows where the big bump with an acute cut was, was wrapped in a bandage. Xander couldn't explain why

L Nathaniel alighted from his car before walking into a coffee store, he was tired and groggy. And he needed to use a restroom to freshen up a bit. A strong coffee won't be bad. He found a place closest to the window. His eyes roamed about the streets on the outside of the environment as he tried to absorb more into his new noisy environment. He took a sip of the freshly brewed coffee he was offered, sipping contentedly, his mind going back to Kiara in a restless manner. Though he still perceived her scent strongly, it was like she was everywhere but nowhere, pockets of her here and pockets of her movement elsewhere. He would only be moving in circles if he didn't catch a direct glimpse of her soon. Tense for no exact reason he breathed in deeply to calm his senses, before running fingers into his hair. A loud chaos outside caught his attention and screams and pockets of loud whispers soon turned into chattering. “The car would run her over.“ He heard a man say. Nathaniel intrigu

Lena felt like crying, she was so clueless and outrightly deceived by a goddess. She felt the evening cool air swirl around her, her hair billowing in the wind and she knew who was about to make herself appear. The air felt charged and electrified, her abdomen region burning for some reason. She closed her eyes at the pain and dust swirling in the air. Soon her bright white appearance formed in front of her eyes. Her body was covered in white glowing tattoos, and her hair billowed in the air, her eyes weren't as ferocious as Lena expected them to be instead they had a soft expression enamoured to it. “I am sorry.“ The goddess apologized, as tears poured down Selena's eyes. She was shaking with emotions she didn't know existed. Her reality and her fate weren't in her hands. She never had a choice in the beginning. All this while she wore the furs of a wolf that couldn't even help her when she was kidnapped, refused to help when she was almost killed by Fred, and let her be awa
