Nightfall came and the excitement overcame a large crowd of the carnival. Various neon color beams lit up part of the darkness over the crowd as they gathered for fun. Songs and laughter riveted across the grounds choking out street noise.
The two girls had left their dorm by taxi. During their ride, Meagan spoke of what would be at the carnival. “OMG Vass, they are going to have so many events happening. Look!”, Meagan presents her phone before Vastria who was sitting in silence watching the driver who was obviously annoyed hearing Meagan rambling about the carnival. Vastria took Meagan’s phone reading smiling as Meagan went on, “Yeah, there is a concert, an acrobatic show, and so much food stall. Don’t forget the rides and games.” Looking at Meagan’s phone, Vastria pointed at a particular event, “Hey I do want to see this concert. When is it?” Vastria read on, “Oh! It is at the end of the night. We can do a lot of things by the start of the concert.” Meagan nodded, “Yes, first things first, we have to go to the mirror horror house, and win these prizes.” Meagan pointed at the stuffed grumpy/angry bear in black and red with a fanged grin. Vastria agreed. Vastria really wanted the bear due to her seeing something similar in a Japanese animation show, anime. The two girls were excited for this night of fun. Vastria and Meagan arrived just outside the entrance of the carnival by taxi. The driver seemed to have been disgusted that he had to drop off his customer of the night at a carnival he clearly did not approve of. Meagan stepped out of the car after paying the cab fare while in her tight dark blue jeans and a loose rose-pink top which the sleeves hung off her shoulders, her toe covered sandals in rose pink to match. Vastria followed while all in black, black jeans, black ripped top that accentuated her bosoms, and tall heeled steel toe black boots with silver studs in its design.
The two girls smiled as they saw the carnival standing side by side, Vastria taller due to her boots. They made their way into the carnival.
The entrance to the carnival was gated with a wood cut out of a black and gold grumpy/angry bear head and mouth as the open entrance way. In the mouth above the opening were its fangs. It was a cute set-up as the girls happily walked up to the ticket person and entered the carnival.
The two girls were having so much fun, they each won their prized bear and to their surprise they were able to have it delivered to their dorm rather having to carrying it all around the carnival. Vastria won the red and black bear, while Meagan got the pink and grey bear. Meagan ranted at how easy the game was even though many others tried the game and failed. The game was the wall balloon popping. In order to get the prize, the winner was supposed to pop ten balloons in a row. Meagan had to try three times before she got her prize, whereas Vastria got it on the first try. Many others just could not get past popping five balloons, which was weird, since the balloons was not placed in hard places on the wall even though after your 3rd throw parts of the set-up would move. Vastria thought Meagan’s ranting was funny as she listened to her while laughing knowing the truth, since Meagan too had a hard time with the game. Many others just could not get past popping five balloons. It was starting to get to the end of the night and the two girls made their way to where the concert was said to be held.
A large white wall positioned in a corner of the crowd lit up as five shadowy figures stood on top of the wall. The crowd roared in excitement as the music started to change to a faster pace then moving neon lights start to flutter across the area. Vastria looked up at the figures above on the wall in awe as she excitingly got into the show. Meagan next to her jumping up and down holding onto Vastria’s arm.
The beat of the music moved the crowd as each of the figures start dancing to the beat and slid down the wall singing. Time seem to grow slower as Vastria watched the entertainers dance and sing like a siren attracting their victim. The five figures spread out in front of the crowd as a foggy mist starts crawling around the people’s feet. The music seemed to also slow down and people’s movement gradually slowing. The beat of the music got deeper and darker. The figures crouch and slowly made their way into the crowd.
Everyone watching does the same in a crouch position but backed away as if it were part of the show, dancing along with the performers. Vastria following along with wonder and excitement watched the closest figure got near her. She noticed each figure were men dressed in black clothing that bounced the neon lights off their body. Each of the figures had slightly long dark hair plastered to their face with a ridged cut. The foggy mist rises above Vastria’s knees and the entertainment continued slowly. The man got nearer to her with a grin. Vastria smiled as she noticed the man getting near.
The man now in front of her, everything got slower, everyone then stopped in motion. Each person stared in front of them. Vastria stared directly into the man’s crystal black eyes as he stares back with his usual grin. His eyes suddenly changed with a glow of silver. Vastria’s mind grew dense, heavy, and hazy. A pause in breath took over Vastria as darkness ate away at her vision and the air getting weightless around her.
Vastria awoke to murmuring cries around her. She slowly opened her eyes to a dark room. The only light in the room peeked behind the blinds of closed windows shut with boards and steel plank plastered on the surface of the windows in the far left of the room, the only windows in the room. As Vastria slowly looked around her, she started to feel lightheaded. She closed her eyes then reopened them as she tried to steady her confusion of the matter. As she looked around again, she saw people crouching on the floor afraid. She noticed that there was a total of twenty people in the room including herself. Her friend was nowhere in sight. She stood up slowly to look further around the room. As she does this, everyone looked at her in horror and hope. The walls of the room seemed crusted with old paint. The distinction of the color of paint could not be deciphered. It looked brown and tan in some places then charred black and grey in others with white flakes of maybe white paint. Vastria looked around the room and found that the only way in or out of the room was the metal door in the far-right corner of the front of the room ahead of her.
She bent over and whispered to the closest person to her in front of the door of the room, a girl with long brown hair covering her face and dirty blue jeans with white v-line t-shirt, “Hey. What is going on? Where are we?”
The girl stared at Vastria scared and murmured in a low voice, “I don’t know.” The girl shivered as she goes on, “I just woke up here, but every now and then a…” The door slammed open interrupting the girl.
Both the girl and Vastria jumps in panic. The girl Vastria spoke to shied away from Vastria as a figure entered the room. Vastria frozen in her stance and stared at the figure at the door. The figure was a man dressed in black, black leather boots with silver lining, black jeans and a black t-shirt with a black leather jacket with white lining. The man was bald, with broad shoulders. His face long and slim with a big nose pointy nose. He notices Vastria in her bent position and goes up to her and grabbed her with a grim smile showing a glimpse of fangs between his lips. His eyes glow silvery as he grabbed Vastria’s arm. On reflex and fear, Vastria pushed out of his grip and ran out of the room. The bald man grabbed at her by the back of her neck as she passed through the door into a hallway. Noticing a tray of knives and what seems to be blood bags and tubes with needles on a cart left in the hallway. Vastria grabbed a long-sharpened bolo knife and ferociously start hitting the man with it. Vastria not knowing what came over her could not stop. The bald mad seemed in shock could not block or counterattack. Blood spattered all around her as the man crumbled to the floor without any resistance as though Vastria herself were faster than the creature before her. Vastria stared as the man in a giant heap. Time did not seem to work as Vastria stared at the man covered in blood. She was lost in the sight of the blood as it slowly dripped and puddled around the man before her. She did not know if the man who stood before her truly was a man or creature. She remembered the fangs from when the man smiled. It was not normal, nor human.
She could not take her eyes from the body before her, her body trembling. The blood around the body increased. The man's arms torn and shredded. Pieces of flesh scattered in the pools of blood. His face was hidden, faced down.
In a blink, Vastria return to herself and stared at the man on the floor. Vastria shivers in horror at what she had just done. She could not think clearly, her mind muddled and hazy. The bald man’s head rolled to her feet as a pool of blood builds around the body and to her feet. The walls of the hallway were covered in the man’s blood. The blood seemed to slowly slide along the wall. Vastria looked at herself and found she is completely covered in blood. A flash of her dream came to mind. Vastria hand started to shake dripping in blood as she held the bolo knife. She noticed the others in the room are stirring at the terror she committed. She heard running footsteps behind her and yelling from other men rushing towards her. In a fright she darted and unconsciously started slashing at the men. Time seemed to zip by as she ran, and more blood splattered on the walls and on Vastria’s face. Not knowing where she is heading, she knew she needed to makes it out. She finally found a door where light streamed from. She pushed through the door into the blinding sunlight.
After a while, she stood in the warmed of the sunlight drenched in blood, her eyes closed for a bit as her heart pounded in her head, high on the adrenaline. She opened her eyes then turned around looking back at a one-story building of concrete that appeared to be crumbling apart, but intact. The walls were crusted with old paint that seemed to have been white but now brown and red from dirt and rust. The windows were blackened. No greenery grew around the building, only red dirt and weeds overgrown on the sides crawling onto the walls of the building. No one followed her. Breathing hard and confused about what happened, Vastria looked at her hands still covered in blood. She still held onto the bolo knife. Vastria stood there, still confused and afraid. She tried to take the time to think to herself on what to do next. She worried for the others she left behind. She stared out at the building she ran from as her vision started to waver at the sight, her head starting to pound harshly from the overuse of adrenaline. She touched her hand to her forehead debating. Her heart beat hard echoing in her ears as her breathing start to get fast making her anxious. She heard screaming from the concrete building which shook her from her thoughts. Her eyes widened looking at the building even though she could not see any movement inside. No shadows, no vibrations of footsteps getting near. She had to decide, there was no time to thing. Vastria bolted down a grassy hill behind her away from the building not stopping. Her heart beating faster and breathe getting deeper clouding her head in her own noise.
She ran into a nearby forest not knowing where she was heading or how long she was running. She did not look behind her or around her in fear that she would get caught by some creature. As she ran, the forest seemed to run away from her, her vision becoming unclear. She only looked forward and ran.
After some time had passed, Vastria stopped to take a breath leaning onto a tree nearby as the beginning of the night sky started to crawl through the trees. Darkness grew surrounding her muddling her vision and mind. Vastria started to get groggy with from the shock and anxiety of what she experienced. She then suddenly fell to the base of the tree trunk unconscious.
Vastria awoke to sudden movement. She slowly opened her eyes and found herself in a moving vehicle. She sat up fast looking around the car not sure how she got there. She noticed it is a limo that she is riding with white leather seat coverings and a lit mini bar to the center of the limo. Seats were on lined around the limo with the mini bar at the center of the seating area. Across from her on the opposite side of the bar, sat a strange man in a black tuxedo with no tie or bow, but the man wore white gloves. He wore black square glasses that seemed to match how his hair is nicely greased back. He sat across from Vastria, the window behind his head lead to the front of the limo. The exits of the limo were a few seats ahead of Vastria, midway of the limo
Eldrid opened the door to his left and waited outside the limo holding the door open for Vastria. Vastria gradually made her way to the door in silence. Eldrid offered his hand to Vastria to aid her out the limo. She stared at his hand for a moment then to his face before deciding to take his hand as she departed the limo. As Vastria departed from the limo, she took a good look around the area. The sun was peaking behind the clouds and the branches of the trees. She realized that they are in a clearing surrounded by the forest. In the center of the clearing was a mansion. The white paint glistening in the little light of the glowing sun. The pillars of the front stood tall and straight as if it guards the place with its might. Between two pillars l
Vastria was finally alone. Her head feeling heavy from all the excitement. Alone in her own room, her body started to shake. The pounding in her head subsided after a while since she was brought to her room. She walked to the window and looked outside. Below the garden was spread out wide and far. She could not see what type of flowers were being grown. All she could see was the fast greenery like maze of a garden. A man-made pond in the center with benches and tables. Surrounding the garden was high fences with vines grown to be part of a wall. In front of that was a man-made river that round around the garden to the pond at the center and mini bridges to allow passage to all the garden. She then turned to look around her room. This room is too much. It is bigger than my dorm suite with my roommate. She thought as she walked around the room. She studied the mini couch and coffee table then made her way over to the desk and dresser wardrobe. She opened the dresser wardrobe to find it f
The angry man in the suit looked around the room and glared right at Vastria’s father who now stood in front of the angry man. The angry man continued, “You fucking demons think you can do whatever the fuck you want. You nearly ruined our smooth operation in harvesting blood for our people. You know it is the only way to feed our self without being detected by humans.” The man complained angrily with Vastria’s father who intently listened. Vastria who stood behind Eldrid realized these men were the vampires who is after her. Her heart sped up unsure what will happen.
Vastria and Remus both turned their attention to their fathers as they entered the dining room.“Ah this meal looks splendid Lord Rothcas. I cannot thank you enough for this hospitality.” Nobleman Ciel happily stated while taking a seat next to his son as Vastria’s father took the seat next to her. The nobleman was in high spirits compared to his initial arrival at the mansion.Remus spoke up to ask, “I will safely assume deliberations regarding Vastria has been settled?”“Oh yes my son. We have,” Remus’ father replied with a pat on his son’s back. “Haven’t we? Lord Rothcas?”Vastria’s father cleared his throat, “Why yes, but let us have something to eat before we present the outcomes of all the deliberations.” He gestured to the trays of food.Vastria looked to her father with concern wondering what the two had agreed upon that made the nobleman this happy. Noticing her gaze, her father looked to her with a smile as he filled his plate and ate. Vastria took a mini ham sandwich to nibb
Vastria awoke in her bed. The room was dark. Still laying in bed she looked around noticing all her curtains were pulled shut. Her body felt so heavy that she could not lift her head to get a better look of her room. Light shown at the corner of her room as the sun tried to peer into the darkened room. It seemed to be the only source of light. She looked down to herself, someone changed her clothes to a white gown. Vastria heard a shifting noise and looked to the direction of that noise. Her father sat in the seat at mini seating area of her room. He was reading something on a device. Feeling her gaze, Vastria’s father turns his head to the bed finding his daughter has woken up. He stood placing his device on the couch. “My daughter you are awake. How are you feeling?” He briskly strode to Vastria’s side. “Why is it so dark in the room?” She asked.“You needed your rest, so I had your room darkened. The sun is already up. How are you feeling this morning?”Vastria sat up slowly in be
The dining room looked like a mad house massacre from a horror movie. Remus slowly let go of his embrace of Vastria watching her. Her gaze was locked on the bodies scattered around the dining room. Both stood in a pool of blood; both covered in blood of demons. Vastria stared at the corpse of Eldrid saddened that she had killed him, but just like she had before, she wanted to hide the fact she was interested in death. Even though she could not see his face, she knew what it looked like, horror filled with agony as she had ripped his still beating heart out. She looked to the ripped bodies scattered, torsos of maybe ten demons. An arm laid in the sandwich tray and intestines stuck on the wall slowly sliding to the floor. Remus turned to Vastria’s father as Vastria was looking around the room trying to stay calm. “Lord Rothcas, what happened? How did this all start.”Lord Rothcas had to shake his attention from the horrors of his own daughter as she watched her look around the room. “A
In her room, Vastria was taken to the bathroom by the maid, Izbeth. The maid started the bath, filling it up and urged Vastria to undress. Vastria obliged undressing. The maid ushered Vastria into the shower to rinse off first assisting with getting the blood and pieces of demon within Vastria’s hair. The water turned red soon as Vastria stood in the running water. It swirled at her feet going down the drain. She could smell the blood that had partly dried on her skin.Vastria settled in the hot waters of the tub set by the maid. “Lady Vastria, is the water too hot?” The maid asked. “No this is fine; I like it this steamy”Vastria relaxed in the tub her eyes closing as the maid assisted in scrubbing her body. The maid started to massage her shoulders. “Lady Vastria, are you feeling okay? I am aware of the incident in the dining room. You are free to talk to me if you feel like it.”Vastria looked to Izbeth while relaxing in the tub soaking in the steamy hot water. “Am I a monster now
Where are you? Vastria asked Remus telepathically. Vastria looked around for Remus passing the entrance to the bar room on the vampire side. I am in the bar room with a few guests. Want to help me get out of here? I could use the help.
“Welcome everyone to tonight’s banquet. Why all the long faces? Come now. After tonight, our two nations will be joined in a truce agreement. It is a time for celebrations. Please mingle and eat to your hearts content.” Remus’ father came walking to Vastria, his son and lady Arnenas. Vastria’s father followed him. “Agreed. Please everyone, enjoy the night. after tonight the demon realm will be working with the vampire nation. Tonight, w
Vastria stared at herself in the mirror sighing. Remus waited for her at the stairs, but she was not ready. She was nervous. She knew that tonight would be a difficult night. A full banquet with vampires, demons, and werewolves all joined together. She could hear small orchestra music coming from downstairs. It was music that she was never into, but it was music that was appropriate for the occasion. She sighed again looking at herself before leaving her room. She made su
“Do I really need to wear a dress?” Vastria asked as her room was filled with dresses for her to choose from. They were sent to her by Remus’ mother. He came with every delivery she sent except this last dress deliver. For the past few days, his mother sent her dresses, and she did not like any of them. She did not care for dresses. “Lady Vastria, this is a banquet after all. You must wear a dress.” Elcid was spreading out the dresses before her on the clothing racks. “Do you
Elcid rushed back to the mansion after leaving Meagan at the park. She knew she would be fine on her own to get back to her apartment or where she was staying that night. It was lucky her informant found her before she was taken by the rogue vampires. She could not use a demon portal, but she was able to speed run to her car parked a few blocks away. As she drove home, she decided to send her lady a message to update her.
I cannot believe I did that. My parents have disowned me, and my pack banished me because I tried to reason with them about Vastria.I personally trust everything about Vastria, but those wretched demons. They literally sold her to the vampires. Vile wretched vampires that is going to use her.
The demon portal opened up at the center of the garden where the pond was. Vastria’s father and his servants waited for their return. Her father pacing clearly angered. He stopped as he saw the portal and waited. Remus stepped out, then Vastria and Elcid close behind. The demon portal of black mist dispersed soon as they exited the portal. Vastria’s father did not know what to say at first. He had many thoughts, but seeing her daughter finally back brought relief. He sighed and walked to his daughte
As Vastria started to say her farewells to Meagan’s parents and the elders, she felt a pull on her mind. Where are you?She knew who it was. What do you mean, Remus? The others around her did not know why she fell silent all of a sudden. They watched her questioning. They were not sure if they should interrupt, but Elcid knew what could have been going on. “Please excuse my lady Vastria. She just received a message via telepathy.” They looked to Elcid as she tried to apologize
Mishna and Astar led Vastria and Elcid to the center of the village. All the wolves were gathered there. As they reached, the wolves turned and stared at them, at Vastria and Elcid. They did not understand why demons were there that night. Three elderly werewolves were at the most center sitting down. Soon as they saw them, they stood up. They were discouraged. They heard about two demons being in the village but did not believe it until they saw Vastria and Elcid. Astar and Mishna brought Vastria and Elcid dir
