FREYA

I inwardly cursed the world in anger and frustration as I stepped back into the house. I had thought things would be better and steadier when we got here, but I was wrong. Draven had reverted to his cold demeanour. I confirmed that when he casually mentioned I wouldn't have to worry about Karen's presence and left without another word.

What could be the reason he brought all his soldiers here? He couldn't possibly be planning to accommodate them since the house wasn't very large.

My hopes shattered in an instant and I crashed to one of the chairs in the sitting room. Does he care about me at all? Am I the only one that feels the connection and the sparks between us? Didn't he feel the tiniest bit of emotion after our intense love-making the night before? Just how insensitive is he to bring the same woman that caused us to leave the castle to his personal home, just because she was his general?

As the thoughts ran through my mind, I heard the door opening and closing. I

FREYA My heartbeat slowed in relief as I saw Draven before me. I had no idea how he got here, but I couldn't care less. If he had been any later, I might have been lying in a pool of my blood by the time he finally arrived. Subconsciously, I looked at the floor, wanting to assure Stace/Susan that everything would be fine and help her get up. She looked exhausted, sweating profusely, tear marks still on her cheeks. I was about to speak to her but noticed she wasn't meeting my gaze. Instead, she was looking behind me. I turned at that instant, expecting to see Draven raging mad and going to help the other girl whom Karen had tossed to the wall. Instead, Draven stood still, his right hand placed on the head of Karen's wolf. There seemed to be something going on between them—a strong connection. It felt like Draven was speaking to her soul, trying to calm her down and assure her that everything was alright—that scaring the life out of me and hurting Stace and Susan was alright. H

FREYA My heart throbbed in panic as the ferocious-looking wolves advanced towards me. They were four in number; all lean, brown and hungry looking, like they'd managed to escape from a cage where they were locked for months. Chills ran down my spine as I noticed one of them lick its mouth, like he couldn't wait to get a taste of me. I started to move slowly, my hands outstretched as I prayed for a miracle to happen. They all seemed bent at catching their prey and there was definitely no way I would escape without getting caught. I would have jumped in the stream, but my whole body is so weak that I'd definitely drown since I didn't have enough energy to swim. A wave of heat swept past my system, digging a pit of dread in my soul as I realised being able to get out of this would be too much to hope for. They continued to approach me slowly, their growls taking a toll on my courage as I equally stepped back slowly. If I was lucky enough, I would reach one of the tallest r

DRAVEN I was outside talking with my men and putting them in order when I felt the aura emanating as a result of the name ABBADON being said out. I didn't want to leave my men so I looked around for general Karen so she would go in and manage whatever was unfolding. But surprisingly, she was nowhere in sight. It was only after inquiring from one of my men that I learnt she had since entered the house. My heart raced at the thought, because I knew general Karen was one of the people that hated their kind the most, and on a personal level since her younger brother had been killed in the war against them. And general Karen was also a Red Wolf, a special and rare breed of wolves that never gave up until the blood of their opponents touched the earth. With those thoughts gnawing at my mind, I hastily and quietly walked into the sitting room and caught the exact sight I had expected before me. General Karen had tossed one of the Sisters to the wall, and let the other one suff

  • The Lord of the sins    Chapter 21

FREYA A deep root of fear gripped my heart as Draven said those words. He was going to make me regret running away from him. But why? Shouldn't it make him happy since he once said he hated me and promised that I wouldn't last long? As he walked into the forests with me in his arms, I gripped his arms tightly for fear of slipping out of his hold. He seemed really frustrated and enraged, like coming to save me was the biggest inconvenience he'd ever had to deal with. My body shook and vibrated occasionally as the experience of the past minutes repeatedly played on my mind. Draven has saved me from different troubles more than two times now. First from the castle guards who were going to “let me rot in the dungeon”, and then earlier today from being harmed by Karen's angry wolf, and now he has also saved me from being raped—all in the space of three days. A teardrop slipped off my eyes as I thought of those things. I had lost all hope back at the stream but he still came

FREYA I tried to scream and wiggle against the strong arms around me but it was useless. I couldn't make out my surroundings as my view was clouded with darkness. Whoever had seized me possessed both immense strength and an ominous, otherworldly power. My breath started to dye down, the air so hot that I exhaled forcefully to keep myself conscious. Draven had warned me not to move, but I didn't listen. I wouldn't blame him if he left without saving me from… Suddenly, I fell flat to the ground, my nostrils enveloped by the smell of fresh grass. My chest heaved as I tried to catch my breath, and I thanked God for saving me for yet another time. I abruptly got up, and found myself staring at Draven who had a blank expression on his face. Subconsciously, I turned to look around and see the person who had grabbed me. But the forest was still, the sounds and smell of nature persisting like I had imagined what happened. My heart raced in panic and confusion, seeing how Draven's gaze

  • The Lord of the sins    Chapter 23

FREYA It didn't take me long to realise that Karen had been the one to yell "stop." I couldn't fathom her reasons, considering the immense respect she held for Draven. She wouldn't dare interfere in his affairs. Almost all hope had slipped away when Draven, surprisingly, released his grip on me and stepped back. His eyes returned to their usual black hue. His gaze shifted from the ABBADON sisters to me, and genuine anger spread across his features. What had happened during my absence? What had I done wrong? Draven walked away, disappearing majestically from our sight. Stace and Susan remained seated on the ground, trembling, avoiding my gaze. Karen distanced herself from them, staring into the sky. I was left bewildered and isolated once again. “Karen… please, what happened?“ I implored. Karen shifted her gaze from the sky to me, her expression as though she were meeting me for the first time. "Why did you leave?" Her question sent a chill of regret down my spi

Freya's eyes opened and slowly adjusted to the room's brightness. She squinted and tried to get up from the cold floor where she lay, her head hammering like a train was running through it. She felt weak—weaker than she had been in her entire life. And the worst thing was that she barely remembered anything that happened. Or how she got in the… She suddenly flinched when she felt something crawling up her skin and her eyes got completely open. “Argh!“ Freya jumped off the floor as she saw the “thing” in question was a snake. It was very tiny but she had seen so much in her life to judge anything by their size. That thing could kill her with just a single strike for all she knew. She was so distracted by the snake crawling towards her that she didn't bother to look around the room and find out where she was. Eventually, she discovered that she was not alone when she heard someone sigh. Freya immediately forgot about the snake and raised her head to look at the entrance t

Freya died a thousand deaths after he left. For minutes, she stood frozen in place as she looked at where he had been sitting like she could still see him there. “Oh my God,” she said, crashing to the cold floor. “What is this?“ Strangely, even after everything that happened, Freya still wasn't scared of the situation on ground. She was only thinking about her brother and how he would react and cope with life if she never goes back to him. Freya's heart broke at the thought of that. That man—the handsome devil in human form who had tortured her with just his touch, had said her death would be more pleasurable than that of the others if she was what he saw in her eyes. Which brought her to the question: WHAT WAS IT THAT HE SAW IN HER EYES? Freya soon realised that she was worrying about the wrong thing. Her survival instincts were screaming and warning her to get out of wherever she was before it became too late. But how? Her gaze travelled to the door, and she remembered

  • The Lord of the sins    Chapter 16

FREYA I awoke to the sounds of chirping birds, turning around the bed to gather some energy before raising up. My heart fluttered in happiness for some reason I couldn't pinpoint, and it was only when the blanket moved a little from my chest that it dawned on me that I was naked. Memories of last night flooded back, making me flush in realisation. I made love with Draven for the first time. My own husband—the man I loved! I swept the blanket to cover me completely, feeling my warmth return as I closed my eyes and recalled how he worshipped every corner of my body, the burning effect of his touch, his eye colour changing, and how he was patient with me. It's a shame that he had awakened before I did. And he'd been caring enough to wrap me with the blanket. I had a sudden burst of hope and joy in my heart—I'm sure he has changed his mind about me. Maybe things would work out for the better soon enough—maybe he'll eventually come to love me like I loved him. Maybe I could convin

  • The Lord of the sins    Chapter 15

FREYA I was taken aback by Draven's unexpected kiss, but for some reason, I couldn't react. His lips were warm and his tongue delicate as it plunged into my mouth and explored the corners. I found myself leaning in, shutting my brain from all the negative thoughts and enjoying the sweetness of his lips on mine. His hands moved from my neck to my back, where he grabbed me and pulled me closer to him. Something in my stomach coiled as his hands explored my back and suddenly tore-off my nightgown in the blink of an eye. A moan escaped from my lips at that, and I wrapped my hands around his shoulders for the sake of my sanity. My body responded to his every touch positively, yelling and screaming for more. Heat radiated my skin as his hands circled around my naked back and descended to my bosom. Draven abruptly raised me from the edge of the bed. He carried me to the middle and dropped me there, breaking the kiss for the first time. I fought to catch my breath as I looked int
