Chapter Three

A smile brightened my eyes, it was Lucian’s crowning ceremony. I was very happy for Lucian, everything was getting in place.

Lucian would be made the Alpha,

He would choose me to be his mate: I was now sure of that,

I was going to be with Lucian forever and ever.

I started to picture the both of us together with our children, walking together, running around the place.

I could picture a bright day for Lucian and me,

I could imagine Lucian fighting with different men to save me.

I started to daydream of Lucian and me, together. Then the dangerous wolves would come to take me away from him.

I imagined Lucian fighting them all to save me… it was the happiest time of my life.

But then I taught, if I wanted all the things I dreamt of, I had to be there for him.

I quickly transformed into a wolf and went back to my house. I was going to pick out my best dress for Lucian’s ceremony.

Lucian’s POV

By the time I came out of the forest, the day started to break.

Thankfully, the place was still quiet. I tip-toed back to my house, hoping not to be discovered by anyone.

Walking into the house, I tried to walk gently towards my room when I heard a voice that froze me immediately.

“where have you been Lucian!”

It was my father. I could fool the whole pack but never him, he had been waiting for me all night.

The first option I thought of was to lie – but that was a suicide mission for me.

I could tell him the truth though: but he may freak out, especially since my ceremony was in a few hours.

“I asked you a question, Lucian!”

I cleared my throat and decided on what to say.

“I chose to go for a walk and clear my head”

“you went out Sazia again, didn’t you?”

“well…”

He stood up immediately, causing me to move back a little.

“you don’t have to lie to me, I saw when you ran to the forest together.”

“I’m sorry,” I said, feeling guilty.

“Don’t worry, it’s your day, you ought to have fun. Now go freshen up.”

I smiled; I could not believe I was getting away with it. Unfortunately for me, he stopped me before I could turn away.

“wait! What do I smell?”

He started to sniff my body internally. As if realizing something, he frowned his face and shouted immediately,

“Lucian! Did you sleep with that girl?”

“I can explain father… it was a mistake.”

“And that’s why you were trying to creep into the room like a criminal. Only the guilty ones are afraid. A day before your naming ceremony and you could not keep your hormones under control?”

“it was a one-night-stand, purely out of desire Xavier”

“Now you try to justify your actions?”

“no, it’s not like that”

“she is not even your mate Lucian, what would happen if she gets the wrong information?”

“no way, she knows we are just friends Xavier”

Xavier nodded his head in annoyance, then he continued,

“you know, son, in matters of this pack, in being brave and fierce, you are perfect at that. But you just disappointed me today.

He was right, so I had to do the right thing, I bent my head down to his knees and placed my hands on each of his feet,

“it will not happen again, I promise.”

He looked at me and smiled,

"It’s fine, forget about that. Seeing the way, you messed around with Sazia, I can be sure you haven't found your mate yet" I turned and nodded my head,

"Not yet father, I haven’t"

Well, lucky for you I invited all the other wolves from different packs, you would surely find a mate among one of them.

"What if I don't find a mate Father?"

"If you are not able to find a mate before dawn, you would have to choose that girl you messed with. But you have to get a mate before dawn. 

Remember that the day is for your crowning and the night is for your mated ceremony, you would have to announce your mate as per traditions”

"I know Xavier; I knew that for a while. In fact, I have practiced that my whole life”

" Very good, now go and take a shower, your uncleanliness can be smelt from a mile away."

I turned around and headed for my room. Werewolves lived almost like normal humans, except that technology was forbidden.

As for Sazia’s case, my heart was racing as fast as it could, what would happen if I found a mate?

Would I still be able to look Sazia in the face?

What I had with her, was it just a one-night stand?

Aveo’s POV

"Aveo, you have to hurry up so we can get to the ceremony early," my father urged.

"I'm coming, father..."

I finally came out well-dressed. I had only visited the El Altunia pack once when I was a child, my father insisted I also come to Lucian's crowning ceremony, he was hoping I finally find a mate there.

"What's so wrong with having a mate with an El Altunia? Why can't I be mates with someone in our pack?"

"Are you dumb? Their pack is full of strong werewolves, people who stand a chance to live longer despite the test of time. Their pack is one of the strongest, you have to find a mate"

"But you know I regard Helwa as my true mate"

"But he is not, and I think your mate would be in the El Altunia pack; I hope so. Now transform, we don't have much time"

I slowly bent down and turned into a brown wolf with very thick hair, which was a unique characteristic my pack had. 

By then, my father had already gone far, it was my turn to follow him.

I started to move speedily to the location of the ceremony and stopped when I reached it. I bumped into the Alpha's son while turning back to my human state.
