Chapter 10 - Calliope Flores

Callie POV

I look at my reflection in the mirror, and I can’t help but shake my head. I know I should be excited for today, but I am not; I am just nervous, and all I want to do is curl into a ball and stay in bed, hiding from the world. A soft knock on my door makes me take a deep breath as I walk to open it. Rachel is standing there holding her black blazer jacket, and when her eyes scan my body, she shakes her head.

“You can’t wear that,” she says, walking past me and straight to my closet. My closet is minuscule, and I am lucky to have one. Dorm rooms usually don’t have any, and I was lucky enough not to share it with anyone.

“Why? What is wrong with my clothes?” I ask, looking down at my body and frowning. I decided on a black pair of jeans with my black boots and a white turtle neck top.

“You look like you’re going to church; you’re having a preliminary hearing; you need to dress to impress,” she says, and my eyes roll against my will. “Stop rolling your eyes,” Rachel says wh
